Aurora Ulfurdottir |
Aurora shadows Gregory, providing a second pair of eyes to ensure everything is assessed correctly.

+2 to Gregory's roll

You find 3 halfeaten halflingcorpses. It seems those have been throughoutly looted. Nothing of value remains. Nothing but a little Agate, Gregory finds in an corner. Moving straight you find the lair of the frog-creature. A dark cavern opens up here, its twenty-foot-high ceiling thick with stalactites. A rocky shore overlooks a placid pool and stream, fed by a trickle of water leaking from a narrow fissure to the north. A small garden of toadstools and dark mold grows along the banks.
Moving you to speed it a bit up. This room is not yet searched.
Helikon |
Your search of the pool reveals a man’s body, mostly eaten. Little remains to identify the body as that of one of the thugs from the second expedition,
for the blindheim has eaten most of it and has ruined its armor and clothing in the process. A belt pouch on the body’s hip is still intact and contains 42 gp, a silver unholy symbol of Zyphus worth 25 gp, and two water-tight potions of cure light wounds.

Healing remedies are always valuable Aurora notes of the potions
A shame they did these poor folk no good
she pauses and glances around the room
We should indeed continue, if there are no obvious exits here then we should retrace and go south. Does anyone fancy ducking their head in that pool to see if there's another exit?
Aelden Cormallen |
Loot list is at the bottom of my profile for Aelden, so make sure once in a while that I don't forget anything.
"I don' fancy swimming any more lass," and heads back down the way they came.
Assuming that's the unexplored route.
Aurora Ulfurdottir |
Very well I concur, let us travel south down the other corridor we have yet to explore
This time she waits for Aelden to lead, then falls in to step behind him.
Aurora Ulfurdottir |
Just to post a suggested party order anyone can deviate from at their leisure: Aelden, Aurora, Vanya, Uran and Gregory
Aurora will do her best to remain light-footed and quiet, sticking to the shadows where possible.

You enter a new cave through the northeast exit. There is an exit to the southwest and another to the southeast.
A collection of crates, boxes, rubble, and scavenged metal lies heaped in the northwest section of this damp cave. Several strange chalk drawings of twisted, spiny plants, a strange three-legged creature, and emaciated four-armed humanoids mark the walls.
To Identify the paintings you need K/Engeneering and K/Local.
Aelden Cormallen |
Helikon, based on my role, it would be helpful if you could say if there are any exits when we enter a new place. Without a map to look at, its hard to say where I will be setting myself up while the others look around.
"Hmm. Any o' that scratchin' mean anythin' to you all?" He sets up to watch the exits, if any.
Aurora Ulfurdottir |
Aye Vanya I think you have the right of it Aurora nods sagely
we're sure to run in to more of the robots, I'm sure Aelden will be pleased!
She cocks her head to the side
As for those humanoid stick figures though, no idea...come let's move on, I doubt Khelben is hiding in this stack of crates.
She'll urge to move South West if no-one suggests otherwise.
Helikon |
You notice that it gets colder by the yard.
You reach a cavern with two exits. One in the N(You enter here), one in the E.
The temperature drops noticeably in this passageway, and a rime of white frost lines the walls and floor leading into the cavern beyond. What seems to be a light layer of brown dust carpets the cave floor beyond—a body of some sort sits slumped against the eastern wall.
What kind of light do you use?
Cavern
You recognize the “dust” on the floor of this cave for the hazard it truly is a large patch of brown mold. But it is mutated due to Numerian fluids
Dead Body

Whilst I've never been trained in the 'classic' knowledges, I can say with determination that patch on the floor is brown mold, steer clear if you can. Also, that dead body appears to have strands of something growing throughout. Mind yourselves in here
Once sure everyone has heard and noted her words, she summons four lantern-like lights and casts them out across the floor to do close swoops of both the mold and the body in an effort to provoke them. Better to know if they are animate or not now rather than have them lurch forward when someone was within a few feet...
Aelden Cormallen |
FYI, I am using the Wayfinder for light, unless a Light spell is active. I don't believe we need torches. Aelden doesn't know why, but we all do: flame + brown mold =bad.
Aelden prepares for the worst...
Is there an obvious path through the mold?
Gregory Leichardt |
Well, we recognised it as brown mold, so surely that means we know what brown mold does, right?
Gregory looks at the fungus-infested corpse, laying in a garden of more fungus, and shivers.
There, but for the grace of the Gods, be I. I hope that when my time comes, my end is not so ignominious.
"Where shall we go now?"
Helikon |
IF I give you a hint about something, you can look it up. IF I say you have 2 questions, please do not! Also, be prepared for the one or other, or quite many mutations and diffrences.
I am playing with quite a few GMs and even if you try to seperate Off with In, you always remember something. Thats fine. I am more concerned with everybody having fun
Aurora Ulfurdottir |
I'm afraid I have no spells of cold with which to despatch this pest, I suggest we move Eastwards and avoid it
Aurora Ulfurdottir |
Though she says nothing, Aurora is perturbed by her inability to detect the strange figure. She has always relied upon her superb nightvision and to find it letting her down when she most needs it is daunting.
Four tiny fireflies burst from the top of Aurora's staff and fly to the roof of the corridor, spreading out to illuminate the area.
Hold your ground, we mean no harm if your words are true...
Helikon |
A darkfigure reveals himself "Leader would like-like to talk to you. Harm we do not mean!"

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Hmm, I'd have brought friends too if I was going to confront some random group of strangers...
We don't know each other very well at this point, so let's all keep our hands where everyone can see them. That means your friends in the shadows too!
Aurora directs her lights to circle over the group of odd humanoids.
We'll follow at a nice slow walking pace with you right in front of us, no sudden moves and all that...
Uran |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Uran continues to keep his rifle aimed at the mysterious figure, but is startles when Aurora announces that there are others with it.
Well that darn, underhanded scoundrel!! Come on, all of you, lets see you in the light. No funny stuff ya hear!"
