RETIRED Male Human Gifted Warcaster / Arcane Mechanik
ok made some updates to my profile, just a teeny bit more statting to put on paper that is in my head. however, i work today so itll be a few hours. let me know if anything is wrong with what i have (stat calculation and derived stat calculation mostly)
if you see something that looks like i am hobbling my character, please let me know. i have never created a character in this system
RETIRED Male Human Gifted Warcaster / Arcane Mechanik
as for backstory i think i will connect him to Ord and have him as one of the fine men and women keeping the Khador-Cygnar battle from spilling over into Ord lands. still reading the story parts of the book but i hope that fits in with things as they are. if not i will tweak as necessary
Sounds interesting drayen - though hopefully they bundle up the content in an actual splatbook at some point too.
Oengus - nae worries man, it's all good in the hood.
Him being the only trollkin in the group, it seemed like a fun career. The issue is apparently out now too, judging by some of the most recent posters statements.
And Sasha can take the ride skill. Perhaps he forms a friendship with Gus and they train each other in the ways of mounted combat and Iron Fang goodness. Iron Fang Tuffalo Pikeman, one is a Trollkin, the other an expy Russian, together they fight evil!
Beta Male Hairy Highlander Halfbreed Barbarian 9/King o' the North 5
Am rejigging Oengus, so will save my intro til he's version II is nailed down...
My thought is that his previous mount was recently lost to him... old or predated...
So in addition to being a hammer for hire, Gus is also on the lookout for a replacement.... perhaps the local trollkin have given him the heads up on a local herd of Tuffalo?
Alright then here's Gus V 2.0 for perusal and comment
I've presumed the Long Rider Skills (both military and non) are all rank 1. No idea on coin (so gear I'd like is in blue) and no idea on some of the career abilities...
Sooner I track down a pdf version the better...
See Ol' Oengus sitting with a battered Tuffalo tack recovered from his last mouth (Black Bessie ;), so he's on the lookout for another steed (down the line)...
I went to my flgs yesterday for a Society event. They are a big retailer for PP. The November/December issue of NQ is not out yet. They expect to have it in the next couple of weeks. I believe that it was subscribers who received their copies in the mail. When I get it, I'll type it and send it to you, BD. Let me know if you want a physical copy and I can mail it to you.
Slowdown is due to the fact that I was wrestling with a sick 7-month old all weekend, who was producing excrement that came out at about Dublin Bay 3 on the Dulux colour chart.
He got admitted to hospital today with pneumonia (hopefully just a couple of days stay - our eldest has had a couple of bouts of it and bounced back pretty quick) and I've been running interference with our eldest and so forth. Worst part so far was watching the doctor trying to hit a vein when putting in the IV for antibiotics... she stuck him three separate times - digging around each time with the needle and still couldn't hit a vein. Ended up giving up and falling back on oral antibios for now.
Will hopefully only take a couple of days to get past it and back into the swing of things - but just wanted you guys to know that I'll be out of action DM wise during that time.

yeah i seem to have the worst luck with that kind of stuff. i am always having doctors (well "always" sounds harsh, i dont go to the hospital very often) ask me if some new nurse can try to do the IV/annual blood draw/etc on me. i'd like to say no but then theyd just have to do it on someone else who might have something serious

yeah Sasha we have the same command score so either of us would make prime leadership candidates. you have more points in command, but i have a higher INT. however it makes more sense that the local military man takes charge, and Cephas is kinda on thin ice in Khador possibly
Makes sense for now, and since we haven't formalized a command structure (or formed an actual merc company for that matter), it's mostly Sasha doing what he was trained to do until he hears different.
Milo would probably follow Sasha because he is from here and would have better knowledge of the area...but he would probably feel more comfortable with Cephas...both of them being foreigners.
Honestly the way combat works in the Iron Kingdoms the advantages of leaders are their command skill and radius and the benefits they can give you. Both Cephas and I are pretty good at that, though with Natural Leader I can give anybody within 7 inches (42 feet) a Feat point instead of myself when I earn it. My advantages go up from there.
Really the way I would imagine it working from prior experience in VotV games ;) is we'll be considered the officer core of a mercenary company and the only "commands" we'll be issuing are to NPCs. Mark of course can correct me if I'm off base on that.
Again, I don't see this being an issue but since we're all new to this PbP together I wanted to make sure people understood that Sasha giving orders is a reflection of his character and in no way me telling you guys how to play or what to do.
As one of the few non-combat characters, Milo is willing to leave all this strategy stuff to the warriors...until it come time to be sneaky, or crafty!
RETIRED Male Human Gifted Warcaster / Arcane Mechanik
yeah i am interested to see how well Cephas does in combat. i mean he doesnt really have many non-combat skills except mechanikal stuff. and i dont really have a firm grasp of combat in this game, i read the chapter but still it is kinda foreign to me
As far as Command goes - I'd make a distinction between the crunch and the fluff. For game mechanics - then abilities based off command and such will work on anyone on your side. So Cephas could give orders to Sasha and vice versa.
Fluff wise, I'd agree that having Sasha take the lead would be a reasonable assumption for the short short term... and we'll let the longer term take care of itself. I generally like a setup where different people take the lead for the areas that suit their temperament or abilities. Such as Oengus with Trollkin, Milo when it comes to skullduggery, etc.
As far as larger combats we'll need to see how we go. If I can handle the smaller scale stuff well then we might start cluttering with NPCs and such - do some larger scale melees... but we'll walk afore we run ;)
On Friday December 7th I will be flying to Hawaii for a 1 year anniversary/honeymoon. I will have limited internet access and will check the forums but most likely won't be posting too terribly much. Sasha will follow Alcyr's instructions for destroying the Cryxian magic and proceed to help any survivors. He will not hesitate to kill them however, as far as he's concerned they are dead already and any signs that they've been corrupted will be dealt with in the Khadoran fashion.
