I will read over the maps to see what I can uncover.

Knowledge(geography)(untrained): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

One map is a full map of the world, with the Jenivere's route, and does not have the Shiv on it.

The other map does have the Shiv, which is small and poorly drawn, on it and localized to just Sargarva.

Sargava

Smuggler's Shiv

The Bone X is where you are now.

Nngara looks carefully at the maps.

Showing the others the map of the Shiv: This map of island. We at the X me thinks. Harper, where be the lighthouse?

Init +3, Perception +5, AC 18/13/15, CMD 15, HP 8, Fort 0/Ref 5/ Will 1

Hmm...if I remember correctly, it is on the opposite side of the island. Maybe we should look for a source of fresh water. I suggest we get an exploring party together.

Female Mwangi Elf Wizard(Enhancement)/1 - HP 10/11; AC13,T13,FF10; F+1,R+3,W+2/+4

Nngara looks at the others: Does any you know magic to make water? Or make water and food not poison?

Jask

Create Water is a spell I asked for this morning. But I have no desire to go treking off into the woods.

Nngara feels water splash her back. She was looking at Jask when she felt it.

Areys

Not that it matters, but I think food, and water are our top concerns. How much water can this magic create? If there are cannibals on this island, we don't know where they are. This fire thing Ishiro has going is a horrible idea. Those flesh eaters will see the smoke and come right down on top of us. I would be fine with it, if there were three or four, but I bet there is more than that. Harper how long did you say they have been here?

Ishiro @ Areys
When you see those horrible eyes, you will think differntly.

To Nngara:
"I have magic to detect poison, purify unhealthy food and drink, and remove sickness should it arise. I had it prepared the whole trip because on a lengthy voyage the food could become spoiled or infested. Not that it did us much good in the end.
I can also create magical water, about twenty gallons per minute, but it must be consumed the same day or Abadar will take it back into His divine Vault."

After taking a look at the map.
"Perhaps we could start exploring this cape to the west of us. This way we'll at least make sure that we know what to expect from that side, and then we can concentrate our efforts in the southeast direction."

@DM Poisonblade - is there a scale to the map? How big is each hex?

Each Hex is only a quarter mile. You can only make it through four hexes of jungle in a day. It's that dense, plus there are hills, cliffs, small canyons, etc. If you find a trail you can make it through a hex in one half hour. This is taking resting in the heat of the day with only about 8 hours of exploration into considertaion. If you do not rest then you can take a chance on three Fort saves for 1d4 nonlethal damage per failed save and explore a fifth hex of jungle or make it through a trailed hex in 15 minutes. The top of the picture is north. I will need a Survival Roll DC 15 per hex, or you get lost and cound the Hex twice for making it through.

So...what does everyone think? Should we head West first or south?

"West."

Init +3, Perception +5, AC 18/13/15, CMD 15, HP 8, Fort 0/Ref 5/ Will 1

Knowledge local or history on the west side of the map.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Should we split up? I am afraid to leave some of these people alone. There is strength in numbers. I would hate to lose supplies if our camp is raided in our absence.

"No split. Together." Blythe says matter-of-factly.

Apart the jungle kill us. We hide supply we no can carry.

We check end of Shiv now. Big part next.

Sasha
If the monkey won’t go I will. Er…or not, it just seems like there is plenty of neat things screaming out there and I know how to find myself in the woods.

Jask
I am afraid that this old man would only get in the way, so no I will stay in camp and have some food ready for your return.

Aerys
Ain’t no way I am gonna go out there. Me and Mr. Jask will stay and watch the camp.

Ishiro
There are still more protections to make for our shelter. It is best that one of us completes them.

Gelik
I bet you all would like me to come, wouldn’t you. Then there could be some accident with a fall. Or maybe the poor little gnome was beaten to death by savage primates. Ah how sad for him. No thank you. Not on your pitiless lowborn lives. If you want to trick me you had better but your heads together. It’s going to take all the brains your total can combine to even have a chance. Better luck next time.

Female Mwangi Elf Wizard(Enhancement)/1 - HP 10/11; AC13,T13,FF10; F+1,R+3,W+2/+4

Nngara looks at the others and then at those who wish to stay behind.

What defense you have? What if cannibals attack? What you do then?

Together we strong, even you gnome. Apart we weak. I think apart bad idea.

Nngara looks over the group again:

When we free of jungle. You all go do what want. In jungle together we live, divided we die.

"I think that in the jungle the perceived safety in numbers is deceiving. Same as in tight city streets, really. We will attract more attention from the local wildlife this way, and if cannibals attack, we will just be tripping over each other. Five is really the optimal number, and if five people go exploring, that also means five people will be defending the camp, so they will be able to stand up for themselves. Won't you, Aerys, Ishiro? I think as long as we get four or five people ready to set out, we can go and leave the others to harvest wood and prepare dinner for our return. For a small share of the treasure we find, of course."
He tries a disarming smile, though he's not really confident it's going to work.
