I plan on trying to influence Cog, he is hostile. Even with my mod and a NPC aid it still takes a good roll so I am trying to get it as high as I can. Once he is indifferent he is fair game for anyone else with a good mod. I think I will try breaking hostiles so everyone and not just a few of us can try to turn people. Spread the work a bit.

Sunny has gone sunning..
Aye...scampering about in'a storm an'a sun shine! (^_^)
Though the slight problem shown to me by Aoro is disconcerting...
Aoro Osris |
Thats why I am the cook cause I suck on deck. x3
Well Cog is unfriendly, if the dice stop being mean I may get him to friendly or at least indifferent so someone else can finish him up. I really want this storm to be over, the longer it goes on the more my lashing debt will rise I sense. >.<

You guys do realize that the DM posted two jobs, the day and night actions. The perception is during the late night. Just pointing it out sense two people have only listed their day actions and I can understand how habit messes with you.
Aoro Osris |
I said two guys and you ninja'ed so I did not see your post until just now. Btw could have waited to see who went overboard. If it was one of pluggs guys then I say let the sea have them. Would make it easier for us to convince the people in his camp how disposable he thinks they are. >;)

You dont have the feat to make potions, you cant help someone else craft. Not to mention their doctor is likely way higher lvl then you. Don't worry we will have our own ship, then you can fight Lanliss and Sandra for the doctor spot. ;)
'Sunny' |
Ooo! If'n Duo an' Sandara an' Lanliss will be tusslin' will there be jelly involved? (^_^)
'Sunny' |
I swear th' dice roller waits fer me t' try an' be al nice an' social, like afore it saves up me bad rolls. (-_-)

I really wouldn't sense it can be broken with a break enchantment, a spell clerics have access to. Nethys help you if etheir of them broke it, I would not bet on etheir of you surviving. ;)
But I am glad to see the item pages of spell knowledge. Gives sorcerers a bit more leeway with spells.
Aoro Osris |
I was talking about their limited selection of spells. Pages of Spell Knowledge let sorcerer's cast spells not on their spells known. For example if I dont have lightning bolt as a spell known then I can buy a page of spell knowledge (lightning bolt) and be able to cast it as if I had it on my list. Granted they are not cheap and still use up one of my spells per day so it does balance out.
As for the whole metamagic thing, they are not really better sense it forces them to use a full round and they still pay the higher lvl tax of metamagic feats. They are just more direct in their roles, need less planning, and well suited to roles when you have an idea of the setting. Bloodlines are chosen for a reason. ;)
DM Bound Shade |
I was speaking overall. I'm not sure they need help, but if they do, it's definately in the area of spell variety. I'm big on using scrolls to augment spell selections, even with prepared casters.
The bloodlines aspect is my favorite part of a sorcerer, and I wish that wizard had something with their schools that rivaled it. As it is, wizard school specializations are not nearly as compelling.
Hmmm... I've always regarded sorcerers as needing more planning to play well. Are you referring to planning in game (i.e. preparing spells) as opposed to planning out of game (i.e. choosing spells known)? I'd rather have to change my list from day to day, but that's me.
Psions ftw, though. I've preferred point-based, skill-based, and recharge-based spellcasting mechanics to the Vancian legacy for most of my time roleplaying.
Guess my experience with the local LARPs I play and help run has spoiled me. :)
Aoro Osris |
When I say planning I mean if a wizard favors preparing fire spells and runs into a fire elemental they are screwed. A sorcerer can just have one good cold spell and they never have to worry about being without in the same case. Thats what I like the most about them, they are never with out.
Wizards I think are better for multiclassing, arcane prestige classes are pretty much made for them. Thats where they get their version of bloodlines from on top of their great spell access. The new prestige classes support that I think.
As for psionics I never liked them unless it was purely a psionics game. To me psionics is just overpowered and unbalanced in mixed play. Also they would just give a new name and impose their system with little change to the underlaying identity of a class. But like I said I dont like it much personally so I'm biased, could be because I had a wizard murder a psion until they started overcharging their abilities into overpowered madness. I came back as a soulknife. Our DM got rid of psionics after that. >:3
As for being spoiled, we all are in our own way. But I know nothing of LARPing, other then the women. Just realized that too.
DM Bound Shade |
I played a psion back in 3.0-3.5 while the DM was running the Recharge Magic rules from Arcana Unearthed. I ran on the base power point rules while the party wizard (arcane trickster) ran on the recharge rules. It was pretty fun. I was fairly limited in my scope, but I was a blaster that could pipe out damage, but ran out if I didn't throttle. He could keep going for days, but was very effective with creative use of spells.
Honestly, I think the wizard was more effective overall, I was simply more destructive, but recharge magic kinda skews that. I've not found it more overpowered, honestly, because they tend to be more limited in their availability of powers. Plus, many of the powers that I typically find the most useful are more limited in scope with psions. I regretted playing a Seer.
Hmmm... Multiclassing... Yeah, it feels quirky and off to me. I'm getting to the point that I dislike the idea of prestige classes. They're an interesting notion, but archetypes seem to take care of the quite nicely with less chance of system abuse.
Many LARPs that I've read have complex casting systems that rely on a limited resource to function. Once you're out, you're out. The local one I help run functions on an infinite casting system, but the casters need time (Although it's not much really. I can rattle off incants and gestures in a couple of seconds.), and the spell effects cap at basic domination and knockout effects. They game is really fast-paced, with most individual fights being resolved in less 15 seconds at most. I've gotten spoiled by the infinite casting system there. I can cast as long as my arm and voice hold out (and believe me, people are hoarse in the morning, especially the healers).
