Sure the mimir says.

Acheron is a plane of lawful evil, though more one of rigid 'an order is an order' type than the evil of Baator. The place is build up of cubes floating in an endless space, upon which an endless war is fought between hordes of orcs, goblins, hobgoblins and other races, pitting their legions against one another.

The great destruction leaves a trail of dead bodies and destroyed war equipment, so most of the plane is a bit junkyard.

"Not exactly sure what it is, but it showed us the way out of the abyssal plane. It seems to have a vast knowledge of the planes which it seems willing to share." Cedric says regarding the skull. The gnome pauses a moment then askes skull another question. "Can you explain what you are to our new friends."

After the skull responds Cedric casts mage armor on his eidolon before pushing forward. "Sounds like we may need to fight our way through this place. Best be prepared."

Of course I can, the mimir. It clicks and whirrs a bit.

Mimir

A mimir is a magical construct, typically fashioned out of an ornate skull, that is meant to hold and propagate information. Many planar travellers use mimir for reference during their travels, so as to get a quick bearing on where they are, and what to expect from their surroundings.

Mimirs are infallible, extremely loyal and have hilarious senses of humour.

Most of them have inflated egos too

Sorry about that

I've put the map on the handout. You've started at '1', the gargoyle is at '2', and in the distance you can see mountains of junk.

Lin sees no obvious exit - apart form the inert archway that may hold a portal. Krachxton spots faint traces leading past the gargoyle.

Battle suit 2 | HP: 18/18 | AC: 17 (21 MA), T:11, FF:16 | F:+1, R:+1, W:+3 | CMB: +6, CMD: 17 | Perc. +2 | Speed 30

So walking through the arch is the only way forward?

It's one way - moving deeper into the junkyard is another.

No, having followed the group silently for some time while the Mimir spoke, finally decides to say something when they come across the divide in their path. "I vote no archway, we know that portals can be a messy thing. Plus I wouldn't mind scrounging through some of this so called junk."

"I agree. The portal will still be here if we change our mind." He looks over the bleak landscape. "Nobody ever progressed by refusing to face a challenge. If this does not destroy us, we should learn from it."

Moving deeper into the junkyard, another big pile of stony stuff is topped by what looks to be a Numerian device, a sort of carriage. It has an enclosed seat, and a frame of thin glass and metal. The thing also has a series of wings, that jut from the carriage at regular intervals. Attached to the bottom are rods or wands of some sort. It radiates some magic.

"Ooooh!" Cedric calls out in excitement. "Some sort of advanced machine seems to have made it's way here." The curious gnome rushes forward to investigate.

Cedric will try and determine what the sorce of magic coming from the device is. Also from the discription it sounds like a helicopter?

Krachxton will advance to watch over the constru... gnome while he's engrossed in the device.

I think it's more of an ornithopter. Perhaps a hybrid with an Apparatus of Kwalish.

Upon closer inspection, the device looks like a mechanical bird. The device appears to be inactive, though it radiates a transmutation aura.

K(eng) would help as well

Of course, this is not the only thing of not in this junkyard: a large mountain looms up behind the heap with the metal bird, and there's paths veering off to the right and left side of the heap.

The belly of the beast seems to hold a magical canister, with a pale blue substance in it. There's actually several more of the kinds of canisters lying near the machine: they're empty and radiate only a very faint aura.

Four in total, one filled

Slightly further down the path is an oddly lifelike stone statue of a man reaching down for a set of tools (At number 5). The tools he's reaching for are made of a colorful substance - it looks like exotic coral. The statue doesn't show any of the wear of the other items in this junkyard, and looks to be extremely recent.

He will whisper to the others, one by one, "I don't like the look of that statue. Be alert for petrifying monsters."

Male Githzerai Monk of the Four Winds 2 | HP 15/15 | AC 19/19/15 | F+4 | R+6 | W+5 | Ini +7 | Per +7

Lun nods back to Krachxton, "I shall investigate the statue. After all, if we are to walk through this place should we not explore it further?"

Lun walks near the statue to inspect the colorful substance the statue appears to be reaching for.

Earlier
Cedric takes the canister of magical liquid and follows along with the rest of the group.

Now

Hearing Krachxton's warning Cedric tries to scan the colorful tools with detect magic. Trying to stay a maximum range while doing so.

Current buffs, Mage Armor.

The tools are not magical, but they look very organic. Alive as it were. One looks like a blade with an attachment, another like a grappling hook with an end of rope. Several have no directly apparent function, but look to be made from the same material.

Do they look like Modron parts?

He will then begin moving forward. to scout the next area.

The living tools eagerly chirp and come to life as the Fuzzyknuckleduster grabs a hold of them. When cedric picks up the blade-like tool, it immediately attaches to the wrist of the eidolon, creating a blade appendage that can spring forth.

(Think assassin's creed).

The other tools whirr an chirp eagerly, as if waiting to be picked next.

"Aren't they attaching to your construct?" He'll ask as he touches one of the attachments that has no obvious function.

One of the tools crawls up fuzzy, and attaches like some kind of armour plating (+1 deflection bonus), while the grappling-hook like thing just dangles from its rope, without attaching itself.

Nobody else is picking them up, so the 'duster has them all, I guess

Krachxton looks ahead for threats, and sees two men digging through a junk pile.
