Honored to get to the table, thanks.
I will be creating a character for this, and I want to query the rest about what would be the best for the party.
I'd love to try a kineticist, but can do anything y'all want. (Rogue? Sorc/Wiz?)
I'm looking at the recruiting thread, and it sounds like there is a cleric and a ranger already.
BartonOliver |
Thanks for the invite Pirate Rob much appreciated. I have one small (unlikely) warning, I may be a bit on the low end of posting a few days this week. My item is still in the RPG Superstar contest and I have a wedding (my Dad's) this weekend. That said I should be able to post at least once a day despite those issues.
I'm willing to make just about anything the party desires and start at pretty much any level from 1-2. I was considering playing an Oradin (which I've built before, but enjoyed immensely) if we need healing/divine. Otherwise I can build for anything. I can start at 1.0, 1.1, 1.15, 1.2 or 2.0 (with the Oradin I might actually start at 2 as they take a bit to ramp up, but then get very good). I know I've heard these dungeons can be quite tough and would be interested in balancing out party composition so depending on what other people want to do I'll adjust. I enjoy almost any class.
(Also, Rob if you have any classes you don't like feel free to PM me and I'll avoid them too)
Pirate GM |
Thanks for the heads up, as always real life comes first, best of luck on your RPG ss entry and feel free to focus on other stuffs when needed.
Unlike Thorn keep the first level isn't super deadly and there's always the ability to retreat back to town.
TomG |
If we have a cleric (Sir Peter) and Ranger (Fiendish Zen) (according to their posts int the recruitment thread), then that leave two spots for a mixed party.
Given a fighter and a healer already in the party, I'm going to put together a Wizard or Kineticist then if that's okay with the group. (I'll try to make both, and let y'all pick which you think will be more useful.)
@BartonOliver, that means a (UC)Rog, a bard, or pretty much anything else you think would be useful would be great. (Something with Disable Device? I don't know what sort of things we'll encounter in Emerald Spire.) It sounds like it's open for pretty much whatever you choose!
BTW, if anyone has suggestions for Kineticist, I'm totally open to them.
Fiendish Zen |
Hi and thanks for the pick Pirate GM :)
So to confirm yes I'm keen to play my melee ranger. She's high ac for 1st level and doing average damage so guess she'll be charging in first most of the time! She also has a reasonable perception and disable device so don't anyone feel pressured to rogue it :)
Really looking forward to playing this with you all :)
SirPeter |
Thank you for the chance, Pirate GM!
So, my PC won't be a support/buffer in itself, although he eventually will do it, he will be an Ecclesitheurge, a more damaging/blaster cleric.
And as I told in a previously post, I just have some troubles to post at weekends, during the week I can do it all day long.
I'll make my PC at the latest tomorrow and I'll post with him here, ok?
Good game for us! =)
Nar Ibn Saif |
Ended up going Divine Hunter Paladin - don't know exactly what I'll do with it moving forward but we'll see. (The Holy Tactician morphed into a different idea while I was crafting it)
Also, I'll start at 2.0 so I'll probably slow track this module (as well as another later assuming we move forward) to allow people to catch up and not out level anything.
Masao Sabiumi |
Okay, TomG here. This hydrokineticist is what I'm thinking of doing, with a little bit of melee, a bit of ranged, and a bit of control. He can grow in any direction, depending on how Emerald Spire (and the party needs) shakes out.
I'd love any feedback as I'm putting him together. (Still need to add feats, traits, equipment, languages, but the basics are in place.)
Nar Ibn Saif |
I honestly haven't had a chance tofully dig through the Occult classes, but with what I do know everything looks pretty good. Toughness is certainly a decent starting feat to give you some more burn room, though I'm sure plenty of others work. As for traits, I'm a fan of Indomitable Faith, though there are plenty of good traits to choose.
I can also build in a number of ways from here, towards more of a healer type or more straight Paladin, I think either will be good. (Neither will be as optimized as I could have taken them, and have in past character builds, but they should be good)
Tico Marvillos |
Here is SirPeter and this is my PC.
My PFS # 113.139-5.
I made some alterations in the character's background, I hope that has no problem with that.
Pirate GM |
I did not look at potential characters at all when I made my decisions. I have faith that you guys will make this game awesome.
Pirate GM |
I has returned from Eastern Washington.
I took a brief perusal of the characters and nothing wrong jumped out at me. I still haven't thoroughly read the finished version of the Kineticist so you'll have to help me out with anything particularly weird you can do.

Some players may want to play through the entire superdungeon from top to bottom as one immense campaign. Because there are more dungeon levels than a character can explore before “leveling out” of deeper areas, the Sanction Content Key marks several levels with an asterisk (“*”), which the PCs are advised to play using the slow advancement option.
There's no guarantee of how deep I'll be able to run, but I plan to keep going as long as I'm having fun.
Also note that the first level "The Tower Ruins" is replayable.
Tico Marvillos |
It is being amazing until now...at least for me. =P
Masao Sabiumi |
With a new character, I'm a little behind on the XP, I think. I'm going to try and grab some GM credit to help things along. It won't be ready for a month or so (my near-term credit is all CORE, so can't apply), but I'll clear it with you, Pirate, and apply between levels.
Looking forward to it!
Pirate GM |
Another note that may end up being of value is that you can swap in and out of slow track whenever, rather than just at even level breaks now.
Tico Marvillos |
I'm level 1.0 too, Masao, but I pretend to GM "The Confirmation" in a few days and as soon as possible, and with the Pirate GM approval, I'll apply the credits to Tico.
Valya Sunrider |
Ah I'm 1 xp away from lvl 2 so that works out nicely if we're all (mostly) there :)
And wow cant believe just how fast the post rate is! (in a good way!). Will check in more often :)
Nar Ibn Saif |
I normally would have played a 1 tbh, but I went for a concept that needed the help early of some PP and gp. (also, this will be the only time I can do this level at 2). I intend to slow track to allow everyone else to catch up, assuming of course we can keep Cap'n Pirate Rob (the Ruffian) entertained.
Pirate GM |
I doubt we'll keep up this rate of posting everyday but it's nice to get off to an exciting start.
I'll make sure to let you guys know when I won't be able to post super frequently so that you don't get stuck hitting refresh all day while I'm out.
Nar Ibn Saif |
Yeah, I'll have to slow down this weekend for the Wedding/birthday (friday - Sunday afternoon probably), but luckily and happily I don't have to draw a map for Superstar.
Valya Sunrider |
Ah I'm in the same boat Nar, survived the culls but not top 36 material. Nevermind there's always next season :)
Pirate GM |
Speaking of this weekend I'll be at Pacificon all day Saturday/Sunday and won't get back until Monday night, so I'm unlikely to get any posting in this weekend.
Pirate GM |
As a note I find Fort Inevitable really fascinating.
There's this presence of oppressive order, but the Hellknights have also provided a higher standard of living, and have dealt with an incredibly pernicious bandit problem.
Of course, not everything is as it seems... and there are still plenty of pleasant and unpleasant things to discover... Although many of them won't come to light until after repeated delves into the Spire.
Nar Ibn Saif |
Hey, obviously I've mentioned my next few days are crazy, feel free to bot me if you need, and I'll do my best to check in as much as possible.
Pirate GM |
As mentioned above I'll be at a convention Saturday/Sunday and unlikely to post either of those days.
---
Hellknight taxes suck.
Tico Marvillos |
As I said, weekends are terrible for me to post, I'll try to post anything, but I can't promise that I'll do it. Thank you for the comprehension, fellows.
Valya Sunrider |
Hi just before we encounter our first creatures...
Whilst there's no official Player's Guide for Emerald Spire, I've found an unofficial one online, but even so there doesn't seem to be anything in it about class choices.
What I'm basically asking is, could I please get some guidance on what favored enemy choices might be appropriate and useful?
Your thoughts would be appreciated :)
Pirate GM |
So, I've played through the first ~9 levels (except 4) and haven't yet read deeper than that, so I may be missing information from the second half of the Spire.
Goblin is an obvious one for the surface level but not necessarily a good long term choice.
Construct and Undead are always great choices for dungeon crawls, Emerald Spire being no exception.
After that Monstrous humanoid comes up with some frequency in the Spire.
Human is helpful for the skill bonuses in and around Fort Inevitable, but not of much use in the Emerald Spire.
Valya Sunrider |
Thanks for the advice Pirate GM :)
I'd prefer to focus on a good long term choice rather than being a wrecking ball for one level then being ineffective for the rest of the dungeon, so I think I'm going to go with construct for first pick :)
The urban ranger favored community class ability should cover off fort inevitable for skill bonuses if we're to maintain it as our permanent base of operations :D
Tico Marvillos |
You all are from USA?
Valya Sunrider |
Here in New Zealand it's 9am on Saturday morning :)
And wet, silly spring weather!
Pirate GM |
I'm in Berkeley California (GMT -8)
You guys are making good progress on the Emerald Spire here. I'd guess another week of IRL time, almost certainty no more than 2 depending on choices and back at Fort Inevitable.

Tico Marvillos |
LOL! Here in Brazil is 7 pm on friday.
Nar Ibn Saif |
What part of Brazil? My brother spent a year living in Ribeirao Preto. Unfortunately my Portuguese is pretty bad, I studied Spanish instead.
Tico Marvillos |
Ribeirão Preto is a city in São Paulo. I live in Macaé, a city in Rio de Janeiro.
Tico Marvillos |
Sorry for my vanish, yesterday was holiday here in Brazil, so I traveled with my wife on the weekend and just now I'm back.
Pirate GM |
np, it was a holiday weekend (at least for some in the states) and figured it was a long weekend for you as well.
As a note we're almost done here. This is the last encounter in the first level of the Emerald Spire.
If you haven't yet could I get people to either post or PM me
