A place for out of character discussion on the topic of the Phantom Limbs: The Orphan Sea game. Please use this space to discuss rules, opinions, problems and potential actions, as well as getting to know each other as players.
I hope we all have a good time - the campaign thread will open later tonight.
Lady Sallrana Qillon Silvermoon |
@Chillblane, if you look at my PC her ladyship has one.
GM told me yes you can get them in the big cites BUT cost at full price.
So the cost being 4000gp for a revolver. Steep but her ladyship has one.
I gave her the Gun-Smith feat so she could make it herself. Yep shes a bit of a gun nut and she has the know-how, training and contacts to be one.
As shes made it herself to her own design [stolen design] that cutting the cost to 2k so she could afford it. All in her back-story.
But here is the thing, to make the gun type fit I wen't with the very early types of revolvers.
Image here
Using Precaution Caps and cylinders over the idea of loading shells
[1st Colt 1836 type of revolvers over the later Navy types] They seem to fit in better with the Just being made experimental type gun thing.

You're waiting for one more player, but I'll start the campaign thread soon and you can get started when you like.
Extra info...
Each of you starts with all of your equipment but alone - you have a vague recollection of talking with somebody, making some kind of bargain, and then... nothing.
Your new graft limb have been added, and are sore an unusual. The ooze inside them reacts slightly at your touch, but feels enough like skin not to be too disconcerting.
Have fun, and try to stay alive. Gatsby
Vrog Skyreaver |
as a quick aside, I'm thinking that Roger will develop his abilities as a result of the surgery, and while the researchers might be extremely interested in duplicating them, it's my thought that a combination of genetics and minor issues with the ooze used would make it really hard to replicate/duplicate. I really look forward to seeing what he can do.

Ya, the Aegis is....neat. with my archetype, I don't get psionic armor, but I get to channel that into my body. so ya, eventually i'll be able to hulk things. That being said, however, I'm not gonna be able to touch team psion/caster in terms of sheer ability or versatility. what I do, i'll do well. and gunslinger....well, there's a reason why people carry guns.

I hate to say this but there was a made dash to be in this game, now it seems to have tapered off some what. There as talk at one time of seven player, I am only seeing 4 posting in game play and 1 more posting they may be posting soon, so 5. Did some players just not take up the offer GM or is 5 it?

Yeah seems a little odd. Did we scare people off?
GM Gatsby |
The continent as a whole has a regal presence, but each large city is almost completely under the control of their individual government. 'Royal' most likely refers to a continent-wide effort, so (for example) a royal society of astronomers would simply be the best astronomers from multiple cities acting as one group.
GM_Capt_Wombat |
I'm working on the idea of renascence Italy
With a king but lots of city states, some waring at time
With a kind of church cartel linking them, matched with emergent business, trade professional originations. With a court as such trying to keep the hole powder keg of power groups from going boom wile trying to make a single state.
Am I close in that :)
Vrog Skyreaver |
apologies about the delayed reply, it's just that the weekend is when I do most of my RL gaming, so as I stated above, i'll either post early or late. most of the week is fine, however, and should not be effected. additionally, I missed that the IC thread was open; shouldn't be an issue now though, as I have it saved as a favorite.
Again, many apologies!
GM Gatsby |
Wombat, actually reasonably close - although most of the conflict is between the badlands-dwellers and the 'civilised world', rather than between the cities themselves.
And apologies for the lack of posts today, first day back at work has been a little stressful - tomorrow should be a breeze though. And welcome, Vrog!
chillblame |
I am trying to picture the continental map. From what I have read, I think the continent is split laterally by a great dividing range of mountains, running east/west. The city we started in was on the southern slope, with the badlands further south. The mountain range is large, himalayas in height, great Australian dividing range in length. Not much is known about the northern side, just myths and legends.
The climate where we are is cooler?. I suppose that depends on where the equator lies.
As I said I'm just picturing it, and all the above is guessing (don't want to step on gatsby's toes), but if you could give a rough geography of the continents shape. Is this area even on maps?
Vrog Skyreaver |
okay, so I'm cutting down a tree with my sword, but I figured I'd pause so that people could try to stop me/Gatsby could have whatever forest guardian/whatever is under the sand object to my actions. If nothing responds, I will just cut down the tree, which Roger figures he can use to build some sort of shelter, as opposed to the rotten timbers of crashed ships.
GM_Capt_Wombat |
GM said
Leaving the sand behind you, you begin to make your way through the hulls and spars that litter the beach. Every now and then you see the remains of a person or animal, nothing more than skeletal and always incredibly old. ...
There are no signs of anything predatory on the beach itself, and the remains are always in or very near to some of the more damaged ships - you would assume they are simply the bodies of those who died in whatever catastrophe took down their vessels (although after several miles of travel and no lessening of the number of ships jutting out of the sand,,,).
Silvermoon, your study of the fog reveals that it is rolling in off of the sea - probably an atmospheric condition, with no supernatural elements. Still, the speed of its approach is slightly worrying - at the current pace it will catch up to you just after dark.
GM we sped up
As the lady predicted,
evening catches you before the rolling bank of fog.
The mountains seem no closer but you can just about make out the fringes of what seems like a forest in front of you, and small trees are occasionally evident growing between or through the corpses of ships.
Still need to get out the ship wracks etc
GM Gatsby |
Yeah, although you've left the shifting patches of sand behind you, you are still on the 'beach' surrounded by shipwrecks, closer to the forest but still not quite there. And as a group you did speed up, so you have a few hours on the fog at least - ample time to build a shelter if you work together.
Vrog Skyreaver |
as a quick aside, while I might be playing Roger as a male reproductive organ, please note that I always try not to be one. If anyone thinks something I say or do is over the line, feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to modify what I do.
That being said, however, Roger does seem to come from a different world than most everyone in the party (with, well, the exception of maybe Jack). Oh, and Gatsby, good to see you put the thug and the cop together in the same group; should be quite interesting!
GM_Capt_Wombat |
Yes well done Gatsby as you say Vrog, for putting a Thug who you say helped kill my PCs a lady of the realms and fully trained Royal spy's Husband with a Cop and also her. Well done indeed.
I meant to ask Vrog, you going to keep that, because if you dropped that from your PCs background it may make his life safer and a lot longer.
Not saying she would do any thing but then again, In fact she may very well do nothing at all. Most of all when Roger is in mortal danger, She may not feel the need to do anything at all.
:)
To be fair, I think your playing him about right, Roger has an Intelligence 8
Charisma 7
His IQ is 80, and hes the social skills of a Mac wearing, flask holding 48 year old train spotter, who's still living with mum. Not the kind of guy to take to the playboy Mansion or the Oscars. Wisdom wise is good, but that just means he knows how to make egg sandwiches just how mummy makes them.
Dumb as a brick Thug with enough commend seance not to eat the 1st mushroom he sees.
I think your playing him a little to smart myself but that's just me.
PS. Vrog, could I ask, why do you keep favoring your own posts, is there some Paizo trick I'm missing?
Vrog Skyreaver |
I favorite one post on each thread I'm paying attention to so that I can easily find those threads again. and as far as thugging your relative (I was thinking more cousin than direct relation), it's not like I'm coming right out and talking about it, now is it?
the way I see Roger is that he has a lot of street smarts, but no real book smarts (he is illiterate, for example).
I just like to apologize ahead of time when playing that kind of character, especially with people that I don't know IRL. saves time and hurt feelings down the road.
chillblame |
It's a real hot 35º + Centigrade here (don't know what that is in Fahrenheit, 90 something?). But I hope you are ok papa, the news is saying it is pretty bad.
Vrog, I like the by play between the characters, conflict is good for story. BTW doesn't your class, aegis, get psionic armor on command. I was just wondering why you are wearing armor.

Vrog: Well looks like that's a no on dropping it then.
See if your going to say your PC was responsible for bad things in my PCs background, Then my PCs going to be responsible things in yours. Shes a spy by trade, I have it that she ordered the Adventure HIT Team on him that put him in Hospital, she did not want him dead, she wanted him in pain for the rest of his life. Hence the elf with blade slipping into his back can cutting his spine. As a spy of cause she find out who did in for her Spy husband, thug gangs have no honor, a few coins here and there and Roger was soon sold out.
Not that Roger knows of course, as you said she like him also dos not talking about such things.
Also I would just like to apologize ahead of time when playing that a cold calculating vindictive ruthless character.
Note to Vrog: Saying sorry now dos not excuse you from instigating PvP. I myself do not like PvP and as a GM on here I discourage it especially with people that I don't know IRL. It always ends with hurt feelings always. I find players who set out with intent to get some PvP in a game show classic signs before hand. They max out their PCs DMG hit wise, they tank or power up. Designing a PC killer over a Game PC. Then once in game they go looking for points of conflict with other players PC, So that they can be used as a justification for later PvP fight they want.
Such players tend to be more trouble then they are worth. Ether they get the messing with others player v PvP they are looking for or they get kicked out by the GM or told off and Rage Quit. Myslef I will not tolerate that kind of play and will pull any one up about it the moment I think your heading that way. I don't mean to disrespect you and of course we are talking about other kinds of players. The Lord Foul II or OmniChoas kinds of players who have a reputation for such play.
The best way to stop this is to look for the classic 6 signs.
1:Badly laid out PC sheet in which to hid fugues/cheats/3pp etc.
2:Player has tanked out their PC so that's it hits harder or has one spell power/magic kills for all other players PCs in a party.
3:Then player drops hints or brags it can take out anyone in the party.
4:The player starts looking to find a point of conflicts with other players.
5: Seek other players backing for their PCs anger/upset/justification to attack another players PC
6: Then using a point of conflicts moves in for the PvP event the player was after all along.
My six signs on finding or spotting such players PvP hunting players.
Now not for a moment am I saying you are such a player Vrog, just thinking it helps to be aware and not let ones PC fall into one or more of the tell tail signs that may give others the wrong idea about your play. etc.
other than that all is fine.
:)
