"Time t'start, then," the Cap'n mutters grimly, hoping Jarvis will get the message and start shooting, or singing, or both. Making good on his promise, he raises his anchor and tries to bring it down on the man who cut him...

Hearing the Captain's words float through the air, Jarvis decides to hustle close enough to start his performance. Dashing along the dock to the base of the gangplank (hopefully close enough for BP to work), he skids to a halt and begins singing a fevered pirate tune, letting inspiration carry over his comrades.

Starting Bardic Performance, 6/7 remaining.

Hostilities are renewed in earnest. While seeing Culder miss with an anchor smash takes some of the wind out of the companions' sails, Jarvis's pirate shanty buoys their confidence again as the battle continues.

The gods seem to be frowning on the raid on the Gale's Teeth: Even the talented archer can't find the mark against a lightly-armored foe he should own.

As things begin to look grim, Moina's jolted out of her indecision. Calling upon the powers of nature and the piratey meanness of Besmara, the storm druid conjures a wind blast, targeting the sailor on the stairs and the fellow behind him.

The first sailor is actually blown up the stairs into his back-up; there, he stumbles and ends up in a heap on the deck. Moina briefly considers claiming the stairs but opts instead to merely glare up fiercely at the sailor still standing and the stunned man sprawled at his feet.

Aghon is up.

Curse the luck! Hanspur, we need a little help down here. Aghon mumbles just before casting a spell to bless himself and his comrades.

Casts bless so everyone has +1 on attack rolls and saves versus fear for the next minute. The spell radiates out in a 50' burst from Aghon, only affects allies, and will be in effect for the next minute. Here's hoping that +1 will tip the scales in our favor!

The sailors of the Gale's Teeth press the attack. Two slash at Culder with their cutlasses while the fellow at the top of the stairs moves down the steps to engage Moina (attacking from higher ground), providing cover so his blown-away mate can regain his feet and ready himself to join the fight.

None of the attacks connect! The tide may be turning yet again!

I know damned well that I shouldn't add Edits to posts yet I keep doing it!! Gotta do a better job of gathering my thoughts--ALL of them--before sending posts through.

Moina joins Jordan and Jarvis in a semi-dignified retreat down the gangplank and onto the dock, where--since Aghon's been ignoring it lately--the small oil fire is slowly continuing to spread. That's probably a good thing though--putting out the fire will likely keep the ship's sailors from organizing any sort of chase.

I'm sort of assuming that Aghon will follow the rest of the party immediately and that you guys will be able to elude the watch. Where to next? What do you want to do now?

Frustrated with himself, Jordan shoulders his bow and begins walking through the streets.

"A rest is probably in order," he says to the group. "I believe we've lunch tomorrow and a chance at some more paying work. If you're willing, though, I'll treat everyone to a drink to make up for tonight's mishaps. If ye head for the Rusty Drum, you'll find a drink waiting for you."

Jordan will wait around a minute to see if anyone has anything to add before returning to the Rusty Drum.

Jordan/Jon Banner slips ahead to reach the Rusty Drum first and prepare some drinks to perhaps drown your woes or maybe provide refreshment and inspiration as you plan your next move.

Moina, being close to her temporary home already (The Mermaid's Bucket), opts not to join the rest of the group, choosing to get a long night's sleep instead.

When Culder, Jarvis, and Aghon arrive at the small tavern, their drinks are indeed awaiting them. The small talk in the place focuses mainly on two subjects: clean-up after the short but intense storm and the ongoing problem of the undead that are still intermittently walking out of the surf to plague both the island and, apparently, mainland Port Peril.

All these undead just keep spilling up out of the sea. It's as if Davey Jones just up and opened all the doors and gates of his infamous locker!? There's got to be some story behind that. "Agreed," Jordan/Jon says, nodding. "But when the sea turns to ale and beautiful women start coming out of it, then we'll send for you," he follows up with a grin.

Reaching a hand inside his apron, Jordan/Jon pulls out three sets of 5 gold coins and sets them next to each cup. "For a job well done, even if we weren't successful," he explains, moving on to take care of another customer.

In his rush to take care of the other customer, Jon accidentally spills some of the man's ale over the brim of his mug, creating a pool of liquid that runs off the edge of the counter and drips into the man's lap. Leaping to his feet before he can get too wet, the man snarls, "Ye're the worst, clumsiest barkeep ever I seen! And ye've got it all wrong--the customers are s'posed to give you tips, not the other way 'round!"

Several minutes later, the front door's flung open and six members of the town watch swarm inside, half bearing blades, the others carrying loaded crossbows. The men move toward the three drinkers and demand their immediate surrender. "You're all under arrest for the suspected murders of two sailors," one growls while another points at Jon Banner and exclaims, "Hey! The barkeep matches the description of the archer!"

These guys need to learn to surround the criminals first and then talk ;)

Aghon knows better than to put a hand on Culder in such a mood, but also realizes that while there might only be six Crescent Watch guards here, there are at least 50 more moving throughout the city at any given time. In the end, that fight spells disaster, exile, or death. So he gives Culder a hard glance before he speaks. No matter how this goes down, somebody isn't going to be happy. I've spent more than a few nights in a jail cell sobering up. It isn't all that bad, and if we can't get Lady Odabio to bail us out, we can certainly make a plea to the magistrate for community service. I mean, hell, if I'm filling cisterns with clean water for money or to pay off my debt to society, I'm still filling cisterns with water. Just a reminder- my anchor is chained to my wrist. There's no lock or anything, he literally had a blacksmith close the last link so the chain is permanently around his wrist.

The Watch member Culder hands the anchor to has to sheathe his blade to take the heavy weight; he seems uncertain what to do next. When the leader sees that the other end of the anchor's chain is affixed to the great brawler's wrist, he mutters under his breath.

"Listen," he tells his men. "Put him (he points at Aghon) in manacles; if he doesn't resist, we'll let the big guy and halfling accompany us willingly without the restraints." Shaking his head he mutters, ""Must be a bloody full moon...."

Aghon, Jarvis:: Surrendering, fighting, making a run for it, something else?

Aghon hands over his trident, morningstar, crossbow, and shield, and holds his hands out in front of him so manacles can be placed on his wrists. No worries boys, let's not get excited. We'll come along peacefully, but I expect to be treated with the same respect, cuz, I'll be honest with you, then he leans in to whisper to the guard clamping on his manacles, I'm pretty sure the cap'n over there could take the lot of you without breaking a sweat. Get me? He winks and nods. We're doing you a favor, how bout you do the same, eh?

Jarvis paints a smile on his face, regardless of the pain in his shoulder from being handled so roughly.

I'll go peacefully enough lads, but I imagine you'll be wanting my weapons, eh? He says cheerily enough. He slips the rapier from its sheath, handing it over pommel first, with as much of a bow as he is permitted at the moment. As he rights himself, he presents the grip of a dagger to the man in front of him. Finally, he goes to pull the crossbow from his back to hand to the Watch.
