Peril at King's Landing

Game Master Nimon

The King is holding a tournament for his new Hand Ned Stark. You are invited to represent your house in the tournament.

This campaign is heavy with intrigue. I have adopted A Song of Fire and Ice RPG's intrigue system and converted it to D20. To give some examples from the show, When Tyrion convinces his cousin the young knight that is sleeping with Cersei to spy for him or he will reveal what he knows to King Joffery, that exchange was an Intrigue that succeeded.
For an example of one that failed miserably, when Peytr Balish trys to hold knowledge of the King's origins over Cersei and saying "Knowledge is Power" she quicky retorts with "Power is Power" and displays her command over her guards. During an Intrigue there is back and forth until one side relents or comes to a comprimise. I am leaving the mechanics a bit looser then the D6 version, you do not have to give me a specific technique, just tell me what your attempting.

Intrigue System:
First you and the character you are targeting for some intrigue roll initative adding Cha bonus to the roll.

When its your turn you roll the social skill you are attempting(Diplomacy,Bluff,Intimidate..ect) using the targets Intrigue Defense as the DC.Intrigue Defense = [10]+[Status(lvl+trait)]+[Disposition Mod]+[Int]+[Ranks in Diplomacy], [Sense Motive],[Knowledge Nobility], [Knowledge Local]*if they are class skills.

If successful you damage 1d4+1 for every 5 over the Defense you were to the target's Composure which is will(Mod)+cha(Mod)+1 for every three levels.

Basicly it is like a social attack, where your skill is your weapon, Intrigue Defense is the AC and Composure is Hit Points. If your target reaches 0 composure he relents and you succeed in seducing, lieing, ect. This is simply the mechanics, there is roleplaying involved and I will add 2 damage or 2 composure as a GM Fiat for good roleplay/poor roleplay.

Creating your own House:
The Mechanics of your house will come from traits. Use the traits from APG as a basis for traits your house might have. For example if you want +2 to initative, give some basis to why your house is known for such quickness. Or create a unique one that is on par powerwise to other traits. You also get to assign one attribute bonus (+1)to your house which should also be explained.

Additional Rules used:
Dueling, Performance Combat, Hero Points.Piecemail armor I will allow since I am doing performance combat and duels, I will add one caveat to that though. If you are wearing an incomplete set, you are more vulnerable to critical hits, attacker gets +2 to confirm criticals, and the modifier is increased by 1 to a max of x4.

Status:
Status is your character level, + any traits you might have from house, or deeds accomplished during the campaign. It also serves as your reputation, the higher your Status the more likley you are to be recongnized. This could affect disposition.

Alchemist:
Chirurgeon and Vivisectionist are the only Archetypes Allowed.

Bard:
I will allow any Archetypes for now, the more low-key magic wise the better. Your songs will mechanically be the same, but are not really magical as much as a moral boost, or a happy accident.

Cavalier:
Your Order should reflect your house as far as its beliefs ect. For example if your house is charitable, do not take Cockatrice.

Cleric:
No Variant Channeling, If cleric of the seven can pick any two domains. Cloisterd Cleric, Merciful Healer are the only allowed Archetypes other than normal. If cleric of Rhylor use Sarenrae.Much of your healing will mechanically be same, but in game be considered non-magical and just really good heal checks.Other things will be more like a miracle.

Fighter:
No changes as of yet. Remeber heavy social intrigue.

Ranger:
Favored enemy change- Pick a house instead of human and you get favored enemy bonus against that house specific. This enemy should reflect your house. If you are a ranger from Castle Black your favored enemy is Wildlings(to start, later can choose undead ect, but they are just a myth at the momment.)

Rogue:
No change yet, don't plan on using many magical devices.

Valarian Steel:
Valarian Steel will have the same cost as Cold Iron. It has the Bane property vs Shadow creatures and ignores DR to those creatures.
