This is a recruitment thread for a Wrath of the Righteous AP play-by-post game to be GMed by me.

I am looking for a party of five players total, however one slot is already filled by a friend of mine (role pending).

.

Application Rules

  • Paizo only, no 3rd party material.
  • Level 1, 20 point buy.
  • No guns, no gunslingers. No summoners.
  • The Antagonize and Leadership feats are banned.
  • Two traits, optional flaw for a third trait. You must take one (and only one) of the six campaign traits.
  • Alignment must be any non-evil.
  • Max HP first level, half+1 afterwards.
  • Start with 200gp.
  • Core races are always allowed. Other races are subject to approval on a case-by-case basis. Suffice to say that any typically evil race will be vetoed, whereas others will likely be perfectly fine. Discuss it with me first.
  • Nonsensical flavor prerequisites based on race/deity/region/etc may be waived on a case-by-case basis. Discuss it with me first.
  • Minmaxing is acceptable, just be prepared to roleplay accordingly.
  • Include a backstory for your character.
  • Post a sample of your roleplaying style (in-character) when you submit your character. Keep in mind that grammar and spelling matter just as much as an interesting character!
  • Give a general description of what your plan for your character's role in the party is.
  • Once the game begins, you will post at least once per day unless notice is given.

Character selections are my own, and by posting in this thread you agree to be a good sport if you're not selected for whatever reason. If you really want to know why you were passed up, you're welcome to send me a polite PM after selections are made, and I may respond.

Dotting for interest, thinking about either paladin or cavalier. I'm new to PbP, and will post my character later this evening.

Dotting with extreme interest. Considering a Cleric of Sarenrae, but we'll see how things go.

How long do you plan on having recruitment open for?

Depends on how long it takes to get a sufficient number of submissions to select from. Right now I'm projecting about a week's worth of recruitment, give or take a few days depending on the quantity and quality of submissions.

Thanks for your interest, can't wait to see your characters!

Liberty's Edge

Definitely interested...thinking arcane caster of some sort...likely a wizard...or...arcanist? ACG allowed?

Rorrix,

Given that you have only 10 total posts (including aliases) on the boards, can we hear more about you? How long have you been GMing? Have you played any PbP before, perhaps on other forums? What got you interested in running one here?
Given your detailed requirements above, it certainly sounds like you're not just an amateur picking up a book. So I'd like to hear more from your side of the table.

@EldonG: Oh, yes, I should have specified that Advanced Class Guide classes are allowed. However, be careful choosing these, because any official changes to them will be adhered to.

@D-Kal: Good sleuthing. I've been playing Pathfinder for roughly two years now, and I typically GM my own homebrew campaigns from scratch either in-person or via Roll20. I've taken a backseat to GMing these past few months after some games I ran ended in order to indulge as a player in Pathfinder Society. While I've not run a play-by-post game before, I'm a long-time play-by-post roleplayer of roughly 9 years on various other forums. I actually wasn't aware there was a play-by-post forum here on Paizo until a friend encouraged me to apply to his game. I'm as interested in running one as I am in playing in one, so here I am. As you can imagine, he would be the pre-filled slot.

The Exchange

Alright, that's the kind of story I was guessing/hoping for.
I'll look through my archived concepts and see what I might want to flesh out.

Dot

Silver Crusade

A tall figure in gleaming armor bearing a shield embossed with a single dark rose strides forward and bows slightly.

With a voice like ground glass that sends shivers up your spine, he intones "Greetings My Lord! I am Xantrius Kaleson, and I would be honored if you would choose me for this important mission. With Pharasma's favor, we shall send these demons and all who aid them to the pits, never to dare our realm again!"

He then stands at full attention, waiting for orders, seeming calm but inwardly his mind is racing.
I shall avenge your dishonor, Mother! And perhaps once this war is won and this Wound has been sealed, Shelyn will take pity on me, and remove the stain of sin from my body and soul... he dares hope.

I have played a small bit of this campaign (we did not even reach 2nd level), but the DM had to end the game because of personal reasons. I would really like to continue! He does have a couple of alternate racial traits, I hope that is all right.

Thank you!

As a matter of full disclosure, Baradesh has featured in another play-by-post Wrath game, but it seems to have come too a screeching halt.

Appearance:
Baradesh is a relatively typical Dwarf. Although young his face is already lined from hours in the training ground each day, his skin tanned darker than many of his species thanks to the same exposure to the elements. His long red hair and are kept immaculately clean and braided into clan braids to remind him of his lost family. His deep voice retains the accent of his people, and is deep thanks to his big, barrel chest.

Being of a fairly martial mindset, Baradesh prefers to wear his armour at all time, proudly displaying the symbol of Iomadae on both his shield and armour. When not possible, such as formal occasions when armour would not be appropriate, he prefers simple, sensible dress and prefers to avoid flashy clothes, although in keeping with Iomadae’s wishes he keeps them immaculate and well tended.

Personality:
Baradesh has had an odd upbringing. His early days as part of his family taught him many of the ways typical to his kind, but years of living and training with other races from what was effectively his teen years has made him somewhat more open and friendly than most people think of when they think of Dwarves. He’s quite likely to laugh at a good joke and is willing to chat and talk to people he knows, and even strangers on occasion.

However, he is also as patient as a rock and about as forgiving as one. It is difficult to fix a bad first impression on Baradesh, although not impossible, especially if someone who shows exceptional courage, skill or can make him laugh. He can be stern, as is proper, knowing that without law the creatures of the abyss would rule. A mob will break where a squad of troops would stand.

Perhaps because he so rarely sees them, Baradesh is obsessed with his people, and like to collect, wear and use Dwarven made items. He even prefers the Waraxe he trained with as a child over the longsword prefered by most Iomadaens, preferring the potent power the weapon confers. He is also fascinated by the history of his faith, and likes to talk with those who know about such things at length.

Background:
When Baradesh was young his family came to Mendev, joining the Crusade against the Demons of the Worldwound. Smiths of renown and skill, the Ironheart Clan didn't lend their own strength directly to the battle, but instead to furnish the crusade with the finest of weapons and armour. They reasoned a handful of Dwarfs would make a limited difference, but a hundred men saved by solid Dwarf steel was another thing entirely.

Unfortunately, the smithy drew the eyes of the abyss. A Vrock Demon, a creature which delighted in the destruction of the beautiful. Apparently the well crafted weapons and armour were enough of a lure that once the creature slipped past the ward stones it found the smithy a tempting target.

Baradesh was away with his mother when the demon struck. They returned to find the smithy defiled, it's walls covered in the spore and creepers of the Vrock, a pile of broken weapon fused into an unholy symbol that burned the eye to look at. As they approached the building the Vrock completed it's final act - the dance of ruin. The walls bulged outwards from the unnatural energies unleashed. Baradesh's mother was killed instantly, a rock the size of her head crushing her skull as it toppled from the weakened walls.

Baradesh was no so lucky. As the eight foot tall, vulture headed monster reared from the ruined smithy, a cloud of spores trailing from it's tattered body, it hissed in pleasure at seeing the concussed but still living child. It drew an already bloodied talon across the child's chest, leaving a gaping wound. Then it opened it's jaws to destroy one more thing...and it's head leaped from it's shoulders in a spray of gore.

A patrol of Paladin's of Iomadae had noticed the odd cloud of spores coming from the smithy. There leader, Sir Kera, had spotted the creature rising above the bleeding boy and charged, but the wound on Baradesh's chest acted...oddly. When it finally scabbed over it looked more like stone than blood, and refused to fade even with additional healing. Worse, the boy would not wake. Kera decided to take him back to the Temple.

A week later Baradesh awoke, weak but apparently healthy. He remained quiet, dour and lost as he recovered. He was the last of his family. Distant family in Five Kings were unlikely to be able to care for him even once they could be found and informed. Instead, it was the Paladin Kera who offered the dwarf child another option. Enter the Orphanage of the Temple of Iomadae. Learn the way's of the Goddess, and perhaps enter her service when of an age.

Baradesh accepted out of a combined hope of a future and respect for his saviour. He found Iomadae suited him, agreeing with the tenants of the Goddess and adopting them as his own. None were surprised when he entered training as a Paladin.

But Baradesh was never quite the same as the other novices. Instead of the potent smite evil power that most Paladins were famed for, he instead learned Stonestrike - the mark of the Stonelords. Perhaps it was simply his Dwarf blood and stubborn soul showing themselves, creating a champion that would not yield any more than the mountains bend. Or perhaps it was the odd mark on his chest, the stone-like scar that had never healed...

Whatever it was, it suited the Goddess to accept Baradesh's service, and therefore he could accept it.

Writing Sample:
Exhaling slowly, Baradesh Ironheart faced down the city of Kenabres.

Well, at least he stared at it.

The burly Dwarf had just arrived back at the city after his training. His family had lived near there but, truth be told, Baradesh himself hadn't visited the city often. It was certainly more...active than the temple life he was more used to. Not that the temple had been that quiet, of course. Younglings on any race tended to be rumbustious, and while a Dwarf like Baradesh was more sober there weren't that many oof them in the ranks of Iomadae's servants.

But the pure number of people was shocking. So many of them, and the noise - the constant swish of cloth, the thunder of foosteps, the roar of breath creating a background of noise beyond the simpler sounds of yelling people, wagons rolling and beasts making there various sounds - was like a wall beyond the massive stone construct that surrounded the place.

The smell was better off ignored.

Still, his orders were to join the brethren in the city and prepare too fight in the Worldwound proper after the festival. Until then he was to take his leisure and train the populace in the proper use of weapons. He'd heard that the city took such training eagerly, not exactly a shock for a city that had seen the Storm King in living memory.

It would be a hard life, not the one his family would have chosen. Master smiths and craftsman all, they would not have wished to see there son raise and axe. Yet Baradesh felt the calling in him, felt the desire to fight. Not for revenge - such hatred only marred a life, he had been taught - but to protect cities such as this one.

Yet part of his still heard the call of the anvil, the sounds of hot steel struck by cold until something of beauty and grace rose from the anvil...

But Baradesh was a Paladin of Iomadae. He had made his choice.

It was time to begin his service.

Baradesh walked through the gates of the city, and refused to look back.

If accepted, Baradesh's roll will be a tank. High AC and enough damage output that he's not likely to be ignored by much (or at least nothing that dislikes finding an axe in it's forehead) but probably not the main damage dealer. Although Stonelords aren't the finest healers, he will also have those abilities to call on.

Dotting with major interest. Have wanted to play WotR. Probably going to aim more towards either a full arcane or an arcane hybrid.

Rorrix:
I know I'm going to regret asking this (you did mention no 3pp), but I've made a cleric archetype of my own that I'd be interested in playing here. I call it "godhammer". If you're willing, you can check it out here.

Liberty's Edge

I may just settle on a transmuter...a bold, arrogant man that posesses a good heart despite himself.

He won't be charismatic, but he will be intimidating!

Sorry D-Kal, I won't be taking any custom content. To be fair, it's a neat archetype though!

Thanks to the new interests and first couple submissions!

Dotting for interest! I'm going to go take another look at the player guide and see what comes to mind. I'll be back soon :)

I've got some ideas. I'll post later tonight.

I am very interested and will get a profile put together as soon as I can. I am thinking either human or half-orc Paladin (Oath against Fiends/ possibly Sword of Valor) with either "Exposed to Awfulness" or "Stolen Fury".

Morphling, you're already the guaranteed spot you dork. :P
Feel free to post your character for everyone to see once it's ready, though.

Dotting...been wanting to play this AP...

However, i'm a complete noob at PbP...or roleplay via PbP...

Any room for noobs.

I was thinking a Tiefling (if allowed) Ranger...human works too, if not

Here's hoping...

Aye aye. I dunno who I am being yet but I will try to pick ASAP so people know what role I'll be taking. Thanks for holding me a spot - you know how much I've been interested in WotR. :D

Dotting. Back with fluff later.

Applying with Paige Sentine, Neutral Good Human Cleric of Sarenrae. This is just backstory; it's too late for me to have time to whip up a writing sample, and this way if there's any issues I can hear them before I go and write something for her that might have to be changed.

Backstory:
The city of Kenabres, sitting precariously on the edge of the Worldwound, was not a place to raise a child, but that chaos has always been Paige Sentine's life. Her mother was a Paladin of Sarenrae, and her father was a bounty hunter she was sent to stop. His cruel, torturous methods of execution earned the attention of the church when he tortured an inquisitor in the service of Sarenrae that he was sent to kill. She offered him a choice between death and atoning with her blade at his throat, a consideration she always extended as the agent of a goddess of redemption. It surprised her when he chose mercy, seeing a life of amends preferable to the swift death that awaited him in refusal. She found his words sincere, and personally guided him to redemption as his sponsor.

Through the course of his penance, the two drew close as friends and lovers. She brought him to Kenabres, where she was assigned next to join in the Crusades. She helped find corruption with the city walls, and he took on a position teaching archery to the guard and other crusaders, all the while enduring trials and tests to cleanse himself. On the night of his final act of penance, the two were wed, and soon after, Paige followed. She grew up in a household in deep reverence of Sarenrae, but as she grew, they found she didn't possess the same skill with arms that her parents did. She was taught archery and how to wield a scimitar--Sarenrae's favoured weapon--but she didn't excell the way they did.

What she did have were dreams. Vivid, recurring dreams of the sun and some angelic form emerging from the light to embrace her. Clerics of Sanrae said that it was likely the Dawnflower herself, that the girl was chosen by her to be in her service. Some wondered if it was the circumstance of her birth; an agent of the Goddess of redemption and the person she redeemed, but it was not nearly as important to them and her potential. (Campaign Trait: Touched by Divinity.)

When she was old enough to begin her training as a Cleric, her parents embarked to the Worldwound. Her father had joined the Crusades when the city no longer felt his tutelage necessary. With their daughter of age and in good hands, they joined the fight and left her to train. She saw her parents sparsely for the next few years, with each passing year seeming wearier and wearier, until the day came where in their stead was a grave-faced messenger from the Crusader camp outside the city's walls. It was crushing news, but in it, she found meaning. She would, when she was ready, join the Crusades herself, intent on bringing them to an end by any means and avenging her parents.

As she studied under the older clerics and learned how to channel the divine magic that Sarenrae shone down upon her, they also helped refine her swordplay. The scimitar was a graceful weapon, and far from the practical lessons from her parents on how to use it, they taught her how to swing it and use its shape and speed to her advantage. The technique she formed was more dance-like than the pragmatic swordplay she was used to, and she spent some of her free time learning to dance without her blade to further perfect it. She also kept up her archery practice as a way to connect to the memory of her father, with whom she couldn't associate all the Sarenite imagery around her the way she did with her mother.

Personality:
Paige tries to be warm and kind, approachable and always looking to resolve problems. She holds herself to a code of honesty, finding whatever lies others want to tell their own business, but not wanting any to pass her own lips. Behind that warmth is a determined woman and a stern warrior out to honour both her goddess and the memory of her parents. If it means dying in the Crusades, so be it.

She believes strongly in redemption, not only because of her devotion to Sarenrae but also due to the circumstances of her birth. Had her mother not given her father a chance she wouldn't be alive, and Paige draws strength and faith from that fact when she offers somebody a chance to repent. (Trait: Blade of Mercy.) When she offers the chance to someone, she does it to honour her mother and her deity, and to allow them to lead a better life.

I see her being mostly a support character. She's going to take the Healing domain so that she can provide long-term support and mend people up after battle, but also the Glory domain, which brings some nice combat buffs and spells to put on the party's main damage dealers. If there's no need to toss around some magic then she can either wade into combat with her scimitar, or provide long-distance support with her longbow, depending on the circumstances. Rounded out with a decent Charisma; not enough to be a party face, but decent enough to Diplomacy well when she has to, or to try and offer redemption to her enemies.

Applying with Erlösung, Tiefling Inquisitor of Iomedea.
Backstory is done.

Writing example:
Erlösung saw the carnage around her. 10, maybe 12 innocents had died here. Very violently. Looking around she found the footprints of 2 beings with cloven hooves. They were leading to the woods in the west. With a silent whistle she gathered her comrades to her. Kneeling down she explained the results of her investigation.
To hunt those foul beings purged every hint of uncertainess from her mind. Those poor people had been unarmed farmers gathering around to eat their midday meal away from the burning sun. No reason to kill them but to revel in killing! It was time to let justice be done! With utter confidence Erlöung led her comrads to the woods.

role:
Supporter and protector. In battle tank and melee fighter. Out of battle investigator. Trying to have always the right tool. Mistress of common sense

Sargeant Jackram Hughes has been in Mendev longer than a lot of crusaders have been alive. He's seen hundreds of bright-eyed paladins rushing off to fight the demonic hordes... and had to write so many "We regret to inform you" letters that the names just blur together over time. He's gruff and prickly, but takes great care in making sure his soldiers have the best chance they can have to survive.

"Life's short, enjoy it while you got it," is a philosophy he lives by. Cayden Cailean is the closest deity to his heart, though he says the prayers to Iomedae when the other soldiers say them. Sometimes he'll mutter "Nur, nur, nur" while the prayers go on, depending on how cynical he feels that day, but he knows that the fresh-faced recruits, the newly-minted lieutenants, have to see "Sarge" in prayer with them.

A weakness for women, wine, and song is a flaw he'll admit to. (Hedonistic drawback.) A haunting doubt that the Worldwound will stay contained is one he won't. He's spent more time studying than most Sergeants in the Crusade, trying to understand their foes.

To very close friends only, he sometimes tells a story of his childhood. He grew up right there in Kenabres, see, and like a lot of kids, didn't know when he'd gotten in over his head. He ended up hiding from a group of demonic cultists, praying to any god or goddess he'd ever heard of to let him get back home. A beautiful, sad woman lead him through the wilderness to sneak back through enemy lines and escape. She never told him her name, but he figures that he'll pay that forward, and help as many new crusaders survive as he can.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (or Chaotic Good if you want all good alignments). Don't worry, I DO NOT use Chaotic Neutral as an excuse to play Chaotic Stupid.

Campaign Trait: Chance Encounter (associated path: Trickster)

Edit: Updated profile with revisions, gear, feats, etc.

Dotting...

"Just call me Sarge," says Jackram to the recruits. "If you make it through a few weeks, you'll probably get transferred to a different unit, where there'll be a different Sergeant to boss you around; call him or her Sarge too. Don't call me Sir -- I work for a living."

Another batch for the meat-grinder, he thinks to himself. I gotta figure someone to bribe to get out of the new recruit rotation. Find a group of jaded veterans and stick with 'em. At least then I'll have a good reason to bother remembering their names.

After the recruits are dismissed, Jackram sniffs, smelling a pleasant, smoky odor in the air, and looks around to see a familiar, diminutive figure at the side of the barracks. He heads over and grins down at the halfling quartermaster, Sidnee. "Got a bit of that pipeweed to share, slip?" he mutters.

"Who are you calling slip, hoom?" she snaps, with a bit of a grin on her lips.

"Who are you calling hoom, slip?" Jackram grins, and takes the offered pipe of tobacco and takes a slow puff.

The two sit, watching the clouds redden as the sun sets over the walls to the west, and neither one talks, because there'll be time for talking, but right now, silence is what they want.

Very interested, especially as two of the other PbPs I had been playing in wound down unexpectedly.

I am actually on vacation and traveling internationally this week. I won't have time to write up a character until Monday. How long will this recruitment thread be up?

Dotting for interest.

Having never got to play Wrath, I'm pretty excited to see it available. Will make an alias if accepted, and submitting Sylvia, human rogue. She'll be taking the Chance Encounter trait.

Background:
Silvia was born in southern Cheliax in a small fishing village near the Cliffs of Fury. As a child, she learned to scale the high, rocky cliffs and became a skilled climber. During one such excursion at the age of 10, the village was assaulted by Chelaxian slavers, taking all who they could find. Hiding amongst the rocks, young Silvia could do nothing but fear for her family. It didn't take long for the slavers of House Arionne to find her, however, as they scoured the cliffs and nearby hills for survivors.

Branded as a slave, Silvia was sent to Egorian to serve House Thrune. It was while she was at House Thrune that her eyes were opened to the corruption that ran rampant throughout the rest of Cheliax. How different and strange the rest of the nation was, and how naive she had been!

For four more years, she toiled as a slave, never knowing the outcome of her own family. Eventually, a band of Hellknights departed for the worldwound to the north to fight against the demonic hordes. Not knowing the difference between a demon and a devil, Silvia was confused when her master's eldest son, a ranking officer of the Order of the Scourge, asked his father for an entourage of slaves to serve his troops on the journey. His wish granted, and she joined a group of other slaves and began the journey north.

It was a long journey, getting colder the further north they traveled. The slaves were only let out of their caged wagons during mealtimes, which they prepared and served. Eventually, though, the troops grew lax the closer they came to Mendev. Eventually, she saw an opportunity and with a few others was able to escape from their captives, disappearing into the night.

Unfortunately for them, however, they wandered into the blighted lands of the worldwound itself in their flight. Attracting the attention of a group of cultists, they were hunted down and most were slain or captured for rituals dedicated to the chaotic demon lords. Scared and alone, Silvia stumbled upon a beautiful and mysterious woman bearing the holy symbol of Desna. She was quick with a bow and was able to distract the cultists following with ease. As they made their way, they stumbled on other runaways, gathering a small group.

Eventually the beautiful maiden helped them find their way to the edge of the worldwound and finally to Kenabres. Sylvia never got her name, but remembered the Desnan holy symbol, a shining butterfly that lit their way to freedom. Since then, she has dedicated her life to helping those less fortunate than herself in Kenabres. Sometimes that entails taking something from a Hellknight or three, without their knowing. Since arriving in Kenabres, she's found that her luck has increased. She also wears a small medallion of a butterfly around her neck.

Marik grabbed Silvia's arm on her way out, "You can't free them all, Sil."

She sighed. This was becoming an old argument, and quickly. "I know that, Marik, but the paladins won't enter the Hellknight encampments because the law forbids it. They are more concerned with having allies at their side! And we both know that they continue to bring more slaves in secretly, right under the Iomedaen's noses."

She looked out into the night, the air crisp and full of stars.

"That's where I come in, Marik. You know this. I can get them out without the knights ever knowing. I've told you about the woman, yes? You know the story. I believe this is what she saved me for. Something... greater, than just scrounging for food!"

Smiling sadly at Marik, her only true friend, she reassured him, "Don't worry. I'll be back in a few hours." She left their small shack and headed out into the chilly night air without looking back, knowing that he would watch her until she was out of sight.

I love you, you fool, but you just don't seem to understand me, she thought to herself as she moved through the shadows. Spying the Chelaxian encampment on the edge of the city, she smiled and dropped out of sight, searching the perimeter for openings.

-----

Silvia will very likely stay rogue. I don't have any plans to take her out of it. She's not the selfish stereotype of rogue, but rather the Andoran freedom fighter style. She admires the paladins and doesn't fault them, as she knows even they have their limits. She tries to fill in the cracks of the good society of Kenabres she's come to love over the past couple of years, the cracks of grey in between the black and white.

Here is Grayson Ozolins, aasimar vanilla cleric of Jaidz, eventually built around the channel force line of racial channeling feats. His role is support, healing, buffing, and eventually battlefield control by moving undead and evil outsiders back and forth. His eventual goal in life is to ascend to direct service of the Empyreal Lord himself, perhaps as one of his agents in the world, perhaps even as his herald one day. He will stay cleric, unless I try branching into holy vindicator.

His background should give a fairly good overview of my RP-style, copied below for your convenience.

The sounds of screams rung in his ears while the flash of flames filled his vision. Young Grayson Ozolins glanced from the ruined body of his father to the horrific, goat-headed demon that had invaded their quiet homelife. His father had put up a good fight, wielding a strange short sword Grayson had no idea they owned, and while the demon was nearly dead, it still had enough strength to chase down his mother. The strange sword still lay on the ground by his father’s hand.

The sound of metal scraping on the floorboards drew the demon’s gaze, and it regarded the slight twelve-year-old holding the unfamiliar blade. Grayson stared down the demon, transfixed, paralyzed; the demon sized him up, and seeing the boy’s fear, laughed, daring to come within easy striking distance, knowing the boy would never be able to strike. The demon continued to laugh as it violated and murdered the boy’s mother while he stood, frozen, watching, and laughed as it let the boy live with his shame and cowardice.

The demon didn’t get far, though, before a patrolling group of heroes stumbled upon the carnage and slew the beast. When they entered the homestead, they found the boy still standing, staring at the far wall, his sword now trembling from his tired arms, but still unmoved. One of the heroes, a priest of a god of whom Grayson had never heard before that night, recognized the boy as the pure embodiment of everything Jaidz stood for, and took him in, training him in the ways of the Empyreal Lord of untested youths and cowards, training him to overcome and face his fears.

Today, Grayson has mastered his fears to an extent: they no longer paralyze him, though he still feels the dread of that night and his hands begin to shake. He carries his father’s cold iron short sword as a reminder, knowing that one day, he will be able to wield it, that wielding the sword will be the sign that he has finally overcome his cowardice. Until that day, however, his morningstar will do fine.

May I present, Drakra Worpltng gnome bard of great renown (in his own mind). I know that he will need to be downgraded to 1st level, he was leveled up for another recruitment where he did not make the cut.

Currently he is a Bard(Court Bard), but can easily be switched to Prankster if the Inspire Courage is not filled by some other individual (Sensei, Evangelist, another Bard, etc). Could also easily be swapped to bard(magician) if we are caster heavy.

Role is support, buffing and flanking. He is also really good at annoying the enemy.

I will try to get some IC up later. I am on the road all day tomorrow and then with family for the weekend. Feel free to check any of my other characters for posting style. Judge Tohram Quasangi, Kzrira (currently suffering for BBEG crit syndrome), Quirmydt Dephroug, and Pfarna Norc all should have good fairly recent posts.

FYI - I usually do not post with the actual avatar before being selected so that I can delete the avatar to avoid making my list of unused avatars any longer than it is already.

My character is still being built, but I am going to be an Ifrit Inquisitor of Sarenrae. Sorry if that was a role others were seeking too - wanted to announce it as soon as I'd decided.

Hmmm, sort of depends on whether the DM considers the Inquisitor to be a skill or a divine character.

It's kind of one of those all-around classes, so I wouldn't say a specific role is being filled by Morphie's guaranteed spot. Which means I'll be able to take just about anyone's submission reasonably as far as party roles! :D

Am I good to use a tiefling for my character concept? I know I'm not necessarily in but don't want to spend too much time on it, if i can't use the race.

Tiefling is fine, just be able to back up why you're off to slay your kin.

I picked it partially for that reason.

Also, I am re-thinking the Ifrit part - but I am definitely still being an Inquisitor. Most likely, I will be a front-line, melee, demon-smashing force of ticked-off holy rage.

Edit: Then again, if I go high-Dex and get Weapon Finesse, I could be excellent at both melee and ranged. Hmm. Must ponder. Suffice to say I will be a damage-dealer as much as possible.

High dex lets you be less ineffective at both melee and ranged. Unless you are straight fighter or perhaps a ranger, one usually ends up rather feat starved with just archery, let alone trying to tie in melee on top of that. If you can do it though, have fun.

great

The Exchange

Morphling:
If you do a stat array like:
16, 15, 14, 10, 14, 8
You can take PBS and be just as good at short-range (30ft) as you are at melee. As you progress you can bump Dex at 4th and get a compound bow for better ranged, then grab power attack at 5th for melee. If you're human you can have PBS, Precise, and Rapid Shot by 3rd.
I have these ideas because I have an inquisitor that basically went this route.

Inquisitor gets a lot of tasty tricks to boost damage without relying on just strength, though.

I've decided to be a Tiefling inquisitor - gonna be getting Ancestral Scorn all up in this hell-hole!

Hey Morph! Remember me? (I personally think Immolator is great damage archetype and good for fighting demons with fire resistance, which is good for an inquisitor. Plus, that capstone ability just screams "awesome.")

Anyways, what are the campaign traits for WotR? This is my first time.

The Touched By Divinity gives me a free Silver Holy Symbol. To make my Holy Symbol double as a flask I can load with Holy Water to spray enemies with adds ten dollars to the cost. Would you allow me to pay the flat ten to make my free symbol into a flask?

Are the alternate Tiefling heritages allowed, like the devil-spawn?

My idea would be for a Devil-Spawn Tiefling Cleric who is an armiger for the Order of the Godclaw Hellknights that also fight in the Worldwound. He is Chelish and came to the Worldwound because he believes he can be of use and to escape the scorn he received in Cheliax.

EDIT: He'd be a damage dealer mostly, a demon slayer. He'd take either the Theologian or the Mendevian Priest archetype.

@Nidoran: I assume you mean GP, not dollars? That sounds fine.

@Cuan: Tiefling racial heritages are allowed, and you don't need to take the feat that allows for them (since that was waived in BoD). If you want the other abilities from that feat though, you'd have to take it and roll it.
