The cecaelia presents Tobias a crossbow sized for the smaller Pathfinder without a word, instead carefully cradling Alektara and Harsk's weapons wiht multiple tentacles each. "No need to fear. We know how to treat our gear well here: your veteran weapons will be in safe hands."
With a side-eye towards Liam, he adds. "And you'll be too I see,. Glad you agree that with Razmir at your side you'll be well-served with what you have."
The rest of you can try Diplomacy checks as well if you want. Also a cold-iron shortspear can be found, though it takes him a few moments of searching to find a spear made of the right material.
GM Zoomba |
"Sahaugin are up to mischief again" the quartermaster replies brusquely to Harsk. "Which means we may soon need ever hammer spear and sickle in here. So if you're going to borrow these, make sure you make good use of them - and return them in usable shape!"
Having gotten more appropriate weapons (though seemingly not gotten on the good side or the armorer, you ssupect it may be time to turn in for the night or stock up on last minutes gear. Tomorrow is a big day...
Walking down a country lane, you a tavern begin to poke up from behind a knoll. Licking you lips with thirst, we cut off the trail to take a shortcut through the grassy field next to you. The tavern grows larger as you approach, and you just know that there's a cool mug of ale waiting for you. Thinking of its refreshing suds, you make to rush forward even faster. But the grass is surprisingly dense and tangled, and you frustrate yourself trying to slog through it.
A pinch stings at your leg. Eyes still of the tavern ahead, you idly slap at it, hoping to swat the horsefly that bit you. Then another prick, this time low on your back. Still moving, your eyes look around in the air for the pest. A third sting, this one painful, lances through your thigh. You twists you head down to try and spot the fly, only to see that its not a fly at all. It's a snake. Dozens, hundreds of them. The tall grass around you sways not from the wind but as each leaf and blade reveals itself as a serpent twisting around you and engulfing your small form. As the bites come faster and faster, the venom begins to dull your sense to everything but the next bite. You slowly sink down into the 'grass' and....
you wake up.
------------
The next day, you head to the end of Vialesk’s docks to meet Zahra, and see that the marid and a score of undines are making their final preparations. The outsiders strap provisions to a series of whale sharks, and some of the fish are also being outfitted with harnesses – ”It’s a long trip. If you’re not great at swimming, tie yourself in and take a ride” as one explains it when you ask.
Lounging on a bed of seaweed nearby sits a large brine dragon covered with artfully groomed sea anemones. She glances over at you with a disinterested expression as you approach before her gaze returns to observing the activity around the sharks.
The dragon is not the only one to see your approach. Zahra looks up at you and waves you over, yelling "Ah, good to see you've arrived. We're just about to make way. Are you prepared for the journey?"

Quietly in an aside to the two of them, Why don't you two try the courtly graces on the majestic brine dragon Razehtka over there? She has been sponsoring ventures before to restore her prestige. It seems likely she would want to be part of something that creates good will such as this.

GM Zoomba |
Zahra glances back towards the brine dragon, who seems to be taking renewed interest in your party. "Those? I believe just old battle wounds. Hence the anemones as well - I've never known a dragon to not be sensitive to injuries or visible scars."
Whether overhearing you or merely by coincidence, Razethka chooses that moment to rises and in to powerful strokes swims through the water outside the docks to reach the edge of the air pocket you are currently standing in. So, you are Zahra's final recruits. She does not continue, but as Tytus makes for the closest whale, the dragon reaches out with a single talon to lightly touch him. Suddenly and the dwarf finds he can breathe in the water perfectly fine. With a bored look, Razethka moves to cast her magic on the rest of you as well. begins
Tobias Marlow |
Prior to approaching the docks Marlow pauses to warn the others. "Desna spoke to me in dreams last night. It is always open to some questions, but I think that we might find some poisonous foe. It may be metaphorical, but having anti-toxin available would be prudent." Asked further he will repeat the whole dream as best he remembers.
At the docks Marlow steps forwards to the dragon bowing with deep respect he addresses the dragon in draconic. "Greetings to you mighty one. I as a humble representative of the Pathfinders offer you our alliance in this and future endeavors. We wish to express gratitude for your powers that allow us to assist further. May your foes find only failure and death. May your horde, powers and allies to ever increase."

Alektara Bluemoon |
Alektara is astounded by all of what she sees and will tie in to be pulled in the water rather than swim. "...Impressive..." is all she can mutter out at the sights.
GM Zoomba |
My thanks O Majestic One. Is there anything we can do for one such as yourself? Then Jorin belts himself onto a whale. He can swim, but would rather save his strength for when needed.
Be competent. is the dragon's only reply, though Tobias believes he sees a smirk from Razketha as he extols her virtues. She finishes her casting and gracefully swims off, and with the last of the supplies (and several Pathfinders) strapped in, the whale shark pack animals and the undine forces join her. The journey is off!
At first traveling through the Plane of Water is delightful. So many new sights to see, like schools of impossible fish swimming past and churning through a pocket of elemental air. Or two kraken doing elaborate battle in the distance - the far distance, and Razketha particularly keeps a wide berth. But as days at sea turn into weeks, even the strangest sight begins to lose its luster as you make your way through miles of water after miles of water. Each morning, the brine dragon refreshes the water breathing spell upon you but speaks little. Finally, late into the third week from Vialesk, your party spots a pink mass in the distance: your destination, the Lambent Bloom.
A fantastical forest of giant jellyfish fills the water with a soft pink glow. Glimpses of a massive shell, covered with swirls of orange and white, can be caught through the jellyfish tendrils ahead. The expeditions speed slows almost to a crawl, as Zahra, Razketha, and the undine carefully guide the whale sharks through the maze of tendrils, taking care to avoid the jellyfish's dangling tendrils. Suddenly the water reverberates with a rhythmic clanging as an alarm chime is sounded. Swarms of sahuagin and sharks seethe outward from the shell and ready themselves for battle.
You have one round to prepare for a fight (and unstrap yourselves). I Tobias or anyone wished to act on his suggestion, note it in your post

You unstrap and brace yourselves as the enemies finishing erupting from the shell beyond and swiftly move towards you.
I will deal with the vermin on the right growls Razethka as the dragon darts away into the jellyfish, mouth bared.
“The maridar the term for Undine on this plane and I will handle the foes on the left,” shouts Zahra as she draws her own blade. “Pathfinders, head to the middle and slay Baron Zemdar!” The marid's arm stretches out to reveal through the drifting jellyfish a muscled sahuagin with four arms swimming directly towards you, flanked by three other well-armed sharkmen.

BOLD is up (so Liam right now). The water right now is relatively calm - for those without a swim speed, a DC 10 Swim lets you move at quarter speed as a move action, half speed as a full-round action. The jellyfish around the map provide soft cover as their tendrils and bulk bob indifferent to the fighting around them.
You can move through the jellyfish's squares fairly easily, and even occupy those spaces. Avoiding brushing up against their tentacles while doing so however, would test your reflexes (Reflex save if you move through on into their squares).
GM Zoomba |
As Liam casts another spell to aid his skills, the four-armed sahaugin rushes forwards, yelling a frenzy to the others!
{Aquan} City scum! Forward! Protect the Throne!
Darting into a nearby jellyfish, the four-armed figure holds a trident in one hand and a shield in another. But more immeadiately importnat is the heavy crossbow the last two hold - and how he aims it at Tobias and lets loose a bolt that pierces the halfling.

Dang! My AC is 1 worse while polymorphed since my armor was absorbed. So I took 3 hits. I am in bad shape. I should have cast Shield instead of the Corrosive Touch. hp: 10/73
I hope Liam can finish off the Baron

Liam casts another spell, smiting the Baron and his cronies yet again!
Empowered, Intensified Lightning(Burning) Arc targetting the Baron DC21 Reflex for Half: 13d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 6, 3, 6, 1, 3, 1, 2, 2, 5, 4) = 43 I totally forgot to add in the empowered part last time. So 64 for the Baron.
Vs Blue DC19 For Half: 6d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 5, 2, 6) = 26 39
Vs Green DC19 For Half: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3) = 12 18
GM Zoomba |
Green Ref: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Blue Ref: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
As the baron is about to move in for a potentially killing blow, a blast of lightning arcs out from the Razmiran. Striking unerringly, it electrocutes Zemdar, causing the chieftain to finally drift still, his body a mass of burns and gore!
The bolt then continues, shocking both remaining sahaugin. One of them also stops moving, while the last has first blood drawn.
Clutch spell!

Turning to the remaining sahaugin Tobias attacks at it with his kukri to inflict some small damage and perhaps open a hole in its defenses while ready to bodyguard any adjacent party member.
Kukri 1: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
Kukri 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Kukri Haste: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Kukri 1 Confirm: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Kukri 2 Confirm: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Kukri damage 1: 1d3 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9(Non crit, half damage, butterfly sting invoked)
Kukri damage 2: 1d3 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11(half damage on non-crit, normal damage on crit)
Kukri damage haste: 1d3 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9(half damage)
Tobias smiles and waves the party to attack the foe.
Butterfly Sting: Next ally to melee hit the foe before Tobias' next round will automatically crit.
