Calistan the Wanderer |
Calistan is here!
Samuel Deland |
Checking in, but as last discussion;
My posting for the next couple of days will be sporadic as I'm travelling across the UK. I'll hopefully be back fully on Friday. Feel free to NPC me if needed.
Torche of Hermea |
Hmm, Calistan and Torche are level 3. Samuel is leveling to 3, correct? Marcel is 5. Aviendha is 4, but not sure if she is leveled already or is leveling to 5. I guess with the balance of us at the low end, I'd be inclined to see if we could grab one more.
Calistan the Wanderer |
Calistan is 4th level. He is updated now.
Aviendha-RK |
I levelled to 4th :) and am here ;).
Also up for a 4th. Though we did find last time.
I also have a companion tank now do we are fine on dmg department ;). Addition should be ranged caster or archer I guess.
Samuel Deland |
Just a heads up, I bought a +1 longsword and a +1 heavy steel shield for Samuel, so his AC is now 24 base, 25 with his blessing for the next four hours, and 26 if he is adjacent to two allies.
It is likely to change further due to combat expertise and his shielded fighter abilities, but I'll keep you updated.
Aviendha-RK |
You can make the hippogriff take only 2 squares of spaces instead of four :).

Calistan the Wanderer |
Well, technically, he still takes up four squares for stuff like charge lanes and positioning. He just doesn't take squeeze penalties, right?
Aviendha-RK |
Oef not sure. Not that familiar with squeeze rules. It just memtioned movement speed and penalties to ac and attack. If there is not enough space than you can squeeze into a position.

Squeezing
In some cases, you may have to squeeze into or through an area that isn't as wide as the space you take up. You can squeeze through or into a space that is at least half as wide as your normal space. Each move into or through a narrow space counts as if it were 2 squares, and while squeezed in a narrow space, you take a –4 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to AC.
When a Large creature (which normally takes up 4 squares) squeezes into a space that's 1 square wide, the creature's miniature figure occupies 2 squares, centered on the line between the 2 squares. For a bigger creature, center the creature likewise in the area it squeezes into.
A creature can squeeze past a creature while moving but it can't end its movement in an occupied square.
To squeeze through or into a space less than half your space's width, you must use the Escape Artist skill. You can't attack while using Escape Artist to squeeze through or into a narrow space, you take a –4 penalty to AC, and you lose any Dexterity bonus to AC.
The way I read it, unless you have something special you can't just decide to squeeze so you'd take up less space
Aviendha-RK |
So I guess it only works if there is only space for two squares due to walls or other creatures already present in the location I want to be at?

Revvy Bitterleaf |
I think it's only when there's not enough space due to walls since it mentions you can squeeze past creatures, but not end your movement in an occupied square. (It would help if they would describe how stuff works better..)
Your excellent coordination allows you to maneuver better in close quarters.
Prerequisites: Escape Artist 1 rank, animal or magical beast.
Benefit: You do not take penalties on your attack rolls or to your AC for squeezing through a narrow space that is at least half as wide as your normal space, though each move into or through a narrow space still counts as if it were 2 squares.
Normal: You take a –4 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to AC while squeezing.
I've did a quick forum search and what I can see people agree on what I think, you can't squeeze just because you're next to a creature.
Still it saves you a -4 to hit and AC for being in a tiny corridor, so you'd just be moving at half speed
Aviendha-RK |
I made a boo boo. Misinterpreted the sacred weapon from the class. Would like to have a +1 lance and mwork geeatsword instead of the other way around. That ok Rev?

Thanks :). Ill try to edit the spoiler under the character, but editing those fields crash chrome on my mobile.

Need a name for the companion, any suggestions?
Also thinking about switching to my alchemist next level. Aviendha and companion need their space for charging and flying fun.

Back in Dublin with reliable internet tomorrow!
Aviendha-RK |
Could torche or calistan identify the last couple of items we found in the previous room? Wouldn't want to miss out on snything :)

Aviendha-RK |
Still hoping for some identifies on the items we took :p

Torche of Hermea |
Aviendha, think I already tried to. Unless there were more items I missed.
Aviendha-RK |
I mean these three items:
C5j. " The Banes of Barad- Shull": This L- shaped glass case contains three items: a spear crafted from the leg of an immense insect, a bag that looks like a freshly excised stomach, and a tan bag. (all 3 detect as magical).
Calistan the Wanderer |
Calistan tries to identify them.
Spellcraft-Spear: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Spellcraft-Bag: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Spellcraft-Tan Bag: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Spellcraft-Gauntlet: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Calistan has no idea about the spear, the stomach bag looks like a bag of holding and the tan bag looks like a bag of tricks.
(It doesn't actually say anywhere in the scenario that you can open the glass cages..then again, it doesn't say you can't either like it does with the mithril gun)
The gauntlet is a +1 keen spiked gauntlet (with a -2 to hit for only having 3 fingers)
Samuel Deland |
Hey Revvy, do you think we'll have this wrapped for the PbP Gamesday? Would you be planning to run onto something else if we were cause I'd love to get Samuel into something afterwards?
Revvy Bitterleaf |
I'd expect that if everyone posts once a day like we've been doing so far that we should be able to finish before the 1st of November.
I'm trying to get someone to run the next part of this for me RL within the next few weeks so we can continue on with the next lvl ..but I don't think that will be as part of the gameday.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
This one is 3-5, the 2 after this are 6-8 and 5-7 ..I kind of expected for everyone to be lvl 5 after this and be able to continue with that part..but I'll admit..I didn't check lvls.
It seems there's a bit of a lvl difference if Samuel and Torche are lvl 3 , Aviendha and Calistan lvl 4 and Grimdoc and Marcel are lvl 5..so that makes everyone 4,5 and 6 after this..which means 4 can continue on..and 2 can't..which means if you want to stay together as a group we'd need to fill a 1 lvl gap
Sorry, I didn't think of that
Aviendha-RK |
I'll play with my alchemist from then on. Tight corners and animal companions don't mix well :(

Samuel Deland |
I don't mind if you guys continue on without me. I've got another adventure I can put Samuel into. Sadly I don't have anyone that is high enough to follow on with you guys, but I've had a good time.
Calistan the Wanderer |
Calistan has trekked through the depths of this dungeon thus far and sees no reason not to finish the job.
Samuel Deland |
The other option is if you guys are willing to wait while I do another PbP Scenerio with Samuel he would then be level 5 (as he will be 4.2 at the end of this) and able to continue, but I could understand you not wanting to wait.
Calistan the Wanderer |
Calistan doesn't mind either way.
Aviendha-RK |
Don't mind the wait. The alchemist might do a gameday game so you have plenty of time for a module. Could also take my lvl 4 magus and module with you :p

Day Job: SAVING LIVES! (NDJ)
Revvy Bitterleaf |
K, just need to know:
Dayjob (or if you don't have one)
Reporting info
And then we need to decide what the plan is to do now..Samuel is too low lvl to play the next part I think. Torche as well but he said he can swap in a different character.
I'm going to be running stuff for the 3th pbp gameday and since I might have gotten a bit carried away with what I'll be running and playing I don't think it's a good idea for me to run another scenario. Most of the times I just run the same scenario 2 or 3 times at the same time so I don't have to keep track of a lot of different things but I got a bunch of different stuff going this time.
Going for the next level of Thornkeep is an option, since I'm already running that right now..so that just means copying over some stuff I already have prepared. Or we can wait till later when Samuel has caught up.
Up to you guys, going with majority vote on this
