Rikas Horgold |
"Come on. You knew he was planning a raid on your group yet you still did nothing? Peace-loving doodah's or not, have you no sense of survival? Like ruttin' lambs to the slaughter..."
Rikas is uneasy about the priest's withholding of information.
"What aren't you telling us? Speak! Or I may have to get the information myself." He brandishes his mawful of ivory daggers in a threatening manner.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Takahiro |
Takahiro maintains his polite aloofness "Perhaps, brother Rikas, the passion of your question might move the man to talk, before such further investigation is necessary" - the Tien begins brokering peace, but his statement to Rikas is clearly firmly aimed at Akkuret.
GM Helaman |
The Lay Priest and two of his companions take a step off the slightly raised area on which you sit dining, drawing scimitars as they do so.
I will tell you anything you wish to know but cannot allow you to leave. The Master needs must be undisturbed.
The cultists are confused and and mutter and mumble.
Takahiro |
Are you guys up for Takahiro to start brokering peace? Or are you pretty much looking to stomp these chaps for pulling blades?
"What do you mean by drawing weapons so!?"
Takahiro begins a quiet prayer and draws his sword in a defensive reflex, stepping back from the men Detect Evil
GM Helaman |
As the others haven't posted yet I will move it somewhat
The aasimar begins calling up his inner powers to discern evil... and senses it.
Round 2 and 3 needed for more information
The cultists stand taking up their clubs, confused and muttering.
Sit and I will tell you a tale - be at peace, there is food and drink, there is no need for conflict. We will sheathe our weapons and talk with you if you cease with the threats and put your weapons away, the lay priest says but do not seek to leave until bidden.
Rikas Horgold |
"We're not leaving till we have the whole story, sirrah." Rikas still holds a single dagger in his hand, though it seems to less be threatening and more simply present, as if it were second nature for it to be there. His teeth, however, are having a hard time being hidden beneath sneering lips.
Takahiro |
Greetings, one of their members says. I am Akkuret - I am a lay priest of the Dawnflower.
"I see now why Akkuret is a lay priest, for I am not familiar with the ordained clergy being followers of the path of Evil, and he is stained with it" Takahiro simply declares what he knows.
Takahiro |
Takahiro speaks with a level but matter of fact tone -
"Your own believers question you now, you have no authority over us and you do not deny the coming and going of a servant of Shizuru. The Dawnflower and the Empress of Heaven have much in common, and a refusal to bend their knee and be imprisoned by a follower of the darkness is one such belief - you do not dictate to me, and we shall indeed be leaving."
Dice down, initiative!
Rikas Horgold |
Rikas shrugs at Takahiro's claims. "In other words, you're hoodwinkin' the wrong folks." With a fluid motion, Rikas sends his dagger to Akkuret.
Dagger: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 1 = 15 vs Flat-footed AC
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 + 3d8 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 + (6, 8, 5) = 24
Eris the Drunkard |
"Lights out, false priest!" Eris barks, twisting his hands in unnatural ways as he shapes the natural magic of the world around him. Instantly a large upside-down drinking flagon with a rampant dragon on it appears over Akkuret's and drops down over his head, obscuring his sight. As he does this, he pulls a wand out of his pocket.
Draw wand of MM as move action; Cast minor image as standard; Akkuret's vision is blocked by the illusion unless he makes a DC 19 Will save. And for the record, Eris is not freakishly fast, he's just twitchy :)
GM Helaman |
Akkurets body begins to warp and almost melt, twisting and turning in a surprising faceless form.
Meddlesome holy man, it gurgles before its mouth disappears
He moves up on the dias, moving in diagonal arcs to avoid Azoth, his arms lengthening strangely and he reaches out with his blade, attacking the Tien man where he stands.
1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 2 = 30
1d6 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 = 13
Sneak attack dice 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 6) = 19
You are up Shifty
GM Helaman |
And the two flunkies change shape... each body begins to warp and almost melt, twisting and turning in a surprising faceless form.
They both step back and attack the Tien warrior with their scimitars.
Mibosk
1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 2 = 24
1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
Salaan
1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 2 = 16
1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8
Their unnaturally long arms giving them an advantage.
Allowing the 5ft step from the one near the pillar as its a rounded obstacle contained within its own square
Rikas Horgold |
Seeing that his cohorts are more of the same, Rikas charges the one called Salaan, throwing a dagger from 10 feet away. Will provoke from Akkuret for the throw (not movement as I'm doing that behind cover).
Charging throw: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 15
1d4 + 1 + 1 + 3d8 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 + (2, 8, 6) = 19
....but...but...curses. Provoked for nothing.
Eris the Drunkard |
Not knowing if the cultist next to him is one of these creatures, Eris staggers to the side, trying to think if he's seen them somewhere before. Knowlege (dungeoneering) check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 He then pulls out a tiny, dried squid tentacle from his spell component pouch and intones a few mystic words. Instantaneously, sticky, black tentacles rise up out of the floor, clutching at the transformed creatures.
Casting black tentacles, centering the spell against wall of building so that only Akkuret, Mibosk, and Salaan are all caught in its radius. CMB check to grapple all three: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13. Oops, using shirt reroll (my VC shirt, if you'll allow it) on that CMB check. CMB reroll: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30, better. Any whose CMD I beat are grappled, can't move without breaking the grapple, and take1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 points of damage.
GM Helaman |
Nice roll. Re-roll is fine by me without checking.
AoO on Rikas 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 misses.
The effect is noticable... all the priests, including Akkuret are grappled, allowing you to hit hard and fast immedietely after.
I'm going to fast forward here unless any one objects... You are able to finish the fight with the creatures going down to the death, entangled or no
Eris the Drunkard |
Eris pulls out his wand of magic missiles and points it at the other Dawnflower cultists, "I thought I was good at illusion, but these creatures were amazing! Any other folks here want to facemelt and reveal their true nature?"
Azoth Seastrider |
Thanks for the bot... There was a death in my family, and since my last post work has been crazy. I worked about 60 hours last week and half or so was just Friday and Saturday. But things are back to normal now so I should be back to posting at least 1/day.
"Yarr, don't let the rest o' ya even be thinkin' o' changin'!"
Azoth stands ready to fight any of the other cultists.
GM Helaman |
They mill about, as horrified and confused as you'd expect.
The Dawnflower Blossoms cultists are quite upset, knowing that their entire organization has been compromised. They thank you again and again and inform you that they are no longer safe here and that they will hire a ship this evening and flee the city.
One of the cultists seems very nervous and seems to be hiding something.
Rikas Horgold |
Rikas retrieves his daggers and, wiping them off on a scrap of the fallen foes' garments, approaches the nervous cultist. "Seems he won't be tellin' us much. You wouldn't happen to know the answers to the questions we'd have asked him, would ya?"
That's actually him being diplomatic. And again, handling daggers as if it is the most natural thing in the world. Not wielding or brandishing them.
