Iantha, Sammi's, do either of you have a potion?
Iantha |
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Iantha just barely dodges the last attack from the dragon, and she's about to counterattack when it falls. She drops back into a normal stance now that the battle is over, taking a moment to re-orient herself with her surroundings. Her nose wrinkles momentarily at the smell, but there's more important things at hand just this second.
"I do not have any potions. However, I do have... It will not be as effective as a potion might, but I believe it will get him awake, at the least."
She rummages through her things, coming up eventually with a small pouch, from which she pulls what appears to be a pumpkin seed, handing it to Elfire.
"Here. Feed him this."
healing: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
This is one use of the Ally of the Green boon from scenario #7-14.

Elfire walks back over to the so called gnome... "So who and what are you"

After a while Kalkamedes wakes up. He is utterly stupified but uses his lay on hands ability on the poor woman. LoH: 1d6 ⇒ 5 This is enough to wake the woman.
She introduces herself as Sulianna the luminescent, a Ghaele.
She explains that she dove into this empty summoning circle to escape Illvaster. The circle's outer rings radiate a powerful positive energy that keeps the undead beast at bay. Unfortunately, once she entered the circle the ancient wards prevented her from using her own magic to escape. Having succumbed to her wounds, she collapsed and has not recovered since. She also explains that Koth`Vaul is a Glabrezu. She asks politly to destory the circle. This will need some brute force.
Do you do so?
From behind you hear."Do not trust that b.... The w.... is lying!"
Elfire Lightfoot |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Sensing that the Ghaele's intentions are genuine and having already determined that the 'Gnome' in the other circle is less than friendly, nor forthcomming about himself, Elfire agrees to release her.
"Yeah alright, makes sense.....also explains the smell comming from that dragon. But how does all this connect to Kalamedes?, ask Elfire as he begins looking at the circle for a way of destroying it?
"errr, how exactly do we destroy a magical circle?....EORAN, this might be your area."
Eoran Olyrnn |
Would this be a normal circle of protection against stuff, or is there anything unusual about them?
K.Arcana/spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Eoran limps over to Ghaele to see if she is alright, he also takes a closer look at the magic circle she’s in.
Elfire Lightfoot |
Elfire lifts Garmin and takes a swing and the circle in his best attempt to break it.
Attack with Garmin, Guidance, small size penalty: 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 - 2 = 6
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Sammi Lightfoot |
"You already sent your dragon after us, why would we believe anything you have to say?" Sammi asks the gnome, rhetorically.
He pulls out a small blade and begins to chip away at the circle.
Kunai: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
B/P: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Helikon |
The intention is enough. The circle has Hardness 5 and a few hp so it takes quite a while to break it.
You also find two black stone pots sealed with wax in the pool that have survived the times. Between them they contain a scabbard of vigor, a phylactery of faithfulness, a potion of cure serious wounds, and five polished pieces of amber worth 100 gp each.
Meanwhile the Ghaele explains. "A month ago, I took it upon myself to seek out Koth'Vaul and destroy him before he could complete his escape. Unfortunately, with the protective runes that bound Koth'Vaul already
breaking down, he was much stronger than I anticipated. Using an undead servant to push her into his reach, the demon battled the me for two days and three nights, and despite grievously wounding me, Koth'Vaul was unable to deliver the killing blow before I withdrew. I sensed
Kalkamedes, pleading for help. But alas I think the Glabrezu blocked my help. Only in his dreams Kalkamedes could hear me."
It takes a while to hammer the circle open, but once it is done, Sulianna will thank you for your help. First she will release Kalkamedes from her spell and second she will give Iantha a bit of her power to banish the Glabrezu. Iantha feels the power of a banish burn through him in a warm, soft light and strike the gnome dead center. For a moment you see him in his true form before he is banished back to the Abyss he has come from.
Sulianna accompanies the group back to Kalkamedes's cottage and then departs for Elysium, but not before promising a favor in return for your assistance.
Kalkamedes would offer you his magic sword and offer his skils as a mentor.
