Sir D. Arthraven |
Bluff aid: 1d20 ⇒ 4
D.'s rolls are better in combat. :)
D. leaves this to the others, but should this turn ugly, he stands ready.
GM Red |
Mr. Peppers is away, so let's do this: (Bluff Aid) 1d20 ⇒ 17
The hoarder steps forward and looks into Sirettis' palm. "TEN gold pieces?! For someone that says she would like to see me happy, you insult me. Perhaps fifty would make me more willing to talk." He shrugs and continues to glow green as his anchoring continues.
The bonus is not great, unfortunately. The current total, including the aids so far is 15. It's a +2 for each bribe of 50 gold. Blaster and Uesugi can still aid, however. Fighting him is always an option.
Uesugi Hideyoshi |
Taking the queue from the others Uesugi looks at the man. "It would seem that greatest happiness comes from only what you can hang onto in these dire times, but should you be crushed in this world like your lessers than all that you hold right now will be held in vain. You are wiser than I you should take what you have gained before there is nothing left of this world. We cannot stop you after all."
bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 1
lol good thing I carry a sword
Sirettis |
You'd think someone with a +7 Bluff, +6 Diplomacy and +6 Intimidate would be more social here, but the dice hate me. Sorry guys.
Any chance we can try a second skill check? Or should Sirettis back off and let the swords do the talking?
Sir D. Arthraven |
D. waits patiently, but if the man will not cooperate, or seems to turn hostile, despite the team's efforts, he will step in.
A condition based action... :)
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
"Look you fool! A giant meteor will crash down here, and you will die from it. Now you lower your shield and surrender your ship stand aside, and drop that magical aura, or the stone will crush you.
Talking is all fine, but we will remove any obstacle, with no common sense, in our way. Do-you-understand?"
D.'s eyes stare firmly and ruthlessly serious into the floating man's eyes.
A condition based action... :)
Uesugi Hideyoshi |
Uesugi had tried to reason with this man but the look of this whole situation seemed that it would be resolved with steel and he was fine with it. Whatever these heralds fought for was something there were willing to die for. He respected that at least.
Letting his body relax he subtly dug the balls of his feet into the cobbled street preparing to spring once the battle broke loose. Eyeing the creature guarding this man he wondered who the stronger opponent would be. He would soon find out.
GM Red |
Okay, here's the deal. You've technically all rolled Bluff now, and the total is currently 17. You guys have been so great with roleplaying and Sirettis and Gallix did offer a bribe, so I will award a +1 roleplaying bonus, allowing you pass the check.
The hoarder looks over at his stash for a moment, then quickly grabs the thirty coins from Sirettis and Gallix and throws them into his pile. "Hmph. My thanks for the gold, but I can see you eyeing my treasure... Just like everyone else. What are your actual intentions here?" He looks around at the locals, shify-eyed. "I must guard Azlanti's treasures, or it will all be lost." His elemental continues to float nearby, making up for its small size by spreading its arms wide in front of the stash.
That's one skill success. Now, you can all either try diplomacy (Uesugi already rolled an Aid here), or you can fight him.
Sirettis |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Diplomacy(Aid): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Very happy I decided to aid, there. Also, did D's Intimidate do anything?
"A thousand blessings to you. Your magic that has displaced us in this time. Please release your grip on it. None of your gold will matter if we do not survive the Earthfall, which will happen in less than two hours."
Blaster Corsac |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
"You have done well for yourself, and now you should concentrate on setting up a store front to turn your gain into pure profits! Surely, that is what your heart is telling you, right? Concentrate on your commerce, and you are sure to succeed."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Are you kidding me dice roller??
Sirettis |
Times like this make me wish I took Charm as my hex at level 1, lol.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Diplomacy(aid): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
"My vulpine friend is right. What good is a pile of treasures if you cannot gain from it? We have seen empires rise and fall today, and all of their treasures were lost as time consumed them. What endures the test of time is fame, notoriety, legends! If you put your efforts into building those things rather than these piles of scraps, then someday your name could go down is history as one of the wisest of merchants!"
I feel your pain, Corsac. Looks like we may have to resort to less subtle means.
Uesugi Hideyoshi |
LOL @D.
The time was drawing closer and the samurai could feel the tension in the air. There was no backing down from this the time for words had come to an end and only one thing would make this wu jen trickster listen...
GM Red |
D had said that his Intimidate was a condition-based action, so it will resolve now. The hoarder is rather headstrong, though.
The hoarder ignores Gallix, Blaster, and Sirettis' attempt to appease him, and he grows angry. "Fools, you patronize me. Labeling me as a legendary merchant... Nonsense. Whether or not that asteroid kills me, for now, I will continue casting as was agreed upon with Lady Arodeth. It is the only way I'll be paid, after all. Volta, stop them!" Lightning shoots through the elemental's body as it gets up close.
He mouths a few foreign words and an outline covers his body for a moment before it seems to fade into his skin.
And just as he does so, D gets in his face. His odd appearance and strong words send shivers through the hoarder's body, but he shakes the fear off. Had you done so in initiative, I would have counted it as demoralizing, but otherwise he's rather determined against coercion as per the NPC description.
Kreighton Shaine once again prepares himself to cast spells as needed, his palms open and ready. "It's unfortunate that we must fight, but this one leaves us little choice."
Gallix: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sir D. Arthraven: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Blaster Corsac: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Uesugi: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Mr. Peppers: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Sirettis: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Harbinger: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Elemental: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Tie breaker D: 1d100 ⇒ 44
Tie breaker elemental: 1d100 ⇒ 51
At its master's command, the elemental slams its lightning fists into D. The fist catches D's jaw and sends electric sparks through his body.
Slam: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 211d4 ⇒ 4
Lightning damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

GM Red |
Sir D. Arthraven |
I'm down just 4 dmg, my barrier soaked up 2 dmg.
D. doesn't turn his face away, rather, he's more determined to see this foolish man flat on the ground.
"Bad move, now you've given us reason to hurt you."
D. takes a defensive stance, and tries to move away, at half speed.
Total defense, AC to 20.
Acro vs aoo: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Sirettis |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 THERE's the high roll, lol
"Sleep then." Sirettis shakes her head. "The gold in your dreams are worth more than this hoard will be in a few hours."
Will Save DC 14 or fall asleep for 1 round.
"Besides, my words are more than a match for your simple mage armor."
GM Mars |
Pathfinders have found and uncovered the Sky Key Vault. It is there that the Sky Key—the Society’s ticket home—awaits. However, the dome of green energy remains strong, suggesting that too many Harbinger spellcasters are still anchoring the Society in this time period.
GMs, it is now possible to gain Vault successes. Map is also updated.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
K. Local: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Gallix uses his kneeling position to his advantage to begin a diving roll past the strange cloud-creature.
Acro to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
The move seems to be an attempt to pass the guardian to attack the sleeping sorcerer, but it is a ruse. Instead of striking at the vulnerable caster, Gallix rises to his feet and attacks the elemental. "This'll be just like training back on Jalmeray," the barbarian says as his fist flies toward the back of the creature's head.
Cestus, Flanking: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 2 = 21 Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Uesugi Hideyoshi |
"Well done barbarian." as Gallix rolls and rises up to the strike the guardian Uesugi strikes in unison drawing his blade and following through in one smooth deadly motion.
Katana '2hands'+power attack: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 1 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 3 = 11
confirm: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 1 = 14
damage: 1d8 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 3 = 10
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Oops! Just took a look at the elemental traits and noticed they are not vulnerable to flanking. Oh well! Luckily enough that attack was good enough to hit without the bonus.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Way to jinx it, Uesugi! Haha. I think they were just helping me out after a series of terrible rolls in ALL of my other campaigns this morning. Glad they were kind to you too!
GM Red |
Before the barbarian can attempt his punch, Uesugi steps forward and slices up the the elemental with a few lightning-quick slashes, separating the planar creature into three pieces. Bzzzzzt ... It sparks for a moment and decomposes into dust. Elementals aren't subject to critical hits, but your non-crit damage was enough!
All the while, the sorcerer sleeps soundly, unaware that you've just cleaved his companion into three.
Gallix, if you want to retcon because the elemental died with Uesugi's attack, you can do so. Your initiative is after Romnus anyway. I'll bot Mr. Peppers afterwards as well.
Sir D. Arthraven |
Slumber informative :)
Mr not-cooperative probably doesn't wake up.

Steel the true equalizer. That's why Uesugi never leaves home without it...Bzzzzt..
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Time for some retconning coup de grace action!
Gallix rises on the balls of his feet, ready to spring into a diving roll past the elemental in order to get into a strategically advantageous position across from Uesugi. Before he can make his move, however, the samurai's blade flashes forth from its scabbard and returns the strange creature to the aether. Gallix stands and looks at the warrior, impressed with the speed and power of the strike, then steps forward. He stands above the sleeping form of the obstinate sorcerer and says, "I am sorry to have to do this, but we have to stop this...event...from happening any longer. We tried to solve this with words, but you chose your treasures over your life. You chose poorly." Gallix raises a fist into the air and brings it down with full force on the sleeping man's chest, the spikes of his cestus cutting into the man's flesh toward his heart.
5ft step forward, deliver coup de grace with cestus
Coup Crit Damage: 2d4 + 8 ⇒ (3, 2) + 8 = 13
Romnus needs to make a DC 23 Fort save or die. Now I'm off to buy a black cloak and see if I can find someone to scream-whine at about my dead mother.

Kreighton Shaine looks away as Gallix moves above the hoarder. "Oh dear... I never condone this sort of thing, but this situation is like no other, and I suppose it's either he dies, or we all die." He covers his face using his arm.
Finish him?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Romnus is rudely awakened as the cestus slides through the flesh, shattering a few ribs like butter before Gallix's hand meets the beating heart. Or, it was beating, before the fist connected with it and pounded it flat into a pancake, blood spraying up the brawler's arm and expanding from the chest wound rapidly. Romnus gasps as he struggles to breathe, sounds of treacherous pain escaping his mouth, and a mere seconds later, his eyes go dim as his life fades away. He stops glowing. Permanently.
If ever there was a time Uesugi's nickname for Gallix was appropriate, it was now.
Combat is over
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Gallix stares directly into the dying mage's eyes as the man awakens for his final moments in life. The fear and pain on Romnus's face is met with a cold, somber expression from the one known in fighting pits and Pesh dens throughout the Inner Sea as "Gorgeous" Gallix Granbonne. As Romnus breathes his last and the convulsions stop, Gallix removes his fist from the man's chest, uses his blood-soaked hand to close his eyes, and stands, his face turned away from the others.
"Say, do any of you magical types know that spell that can clean up a mess without soap or water or anything? I once knew a barkeep--an elf if I remember, though maybe he was half--anyway, this barkeep, he used to practically chase his customers around the bar with that spell. Cleaning up this spilled drink or that dropped dish or some other smear of filth..." The young man pauses in his story and looks down at his arm. Without warning, he reaches over with his clean arm and rips off the bloody sleeve of his tunic, leaving only the blood that had soaked through the fabric onto his skin. "Nevermind. That'll do for now."
Gallix is extremely shaken by what he's just done, and is rambling on with this story in an effort to collect himself.
He takes another deep breath and turns to face the others. "So. I believe there was one more of these Harbingers keeping us here, right? We better go find 'em and see if we can get them to call it off." He walks back toward the others, but stops when he reaches the Society's Master of Scrolls. "Sorry about the mess, Master Shaine. I know that sort of thing is probably frowned upon by the Pathfinders. I just didn't see another way."
He continues walking.
Sirettis |
Ah, the classic Sleep + Coup de Grace: low level casting.
Sirettis watches the execution, absorbing every piece of information she can off it. As the Herald's life fades away, she closes her eyes, in deep contemplation. "May you find your riches in the afterlife."
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
"We have one more Herald to-" she takes one more look at Romnus. "convince. Or should we look for the Sky Key? I heard someone mention a vault."
Sir D. Arthraven |
Sense Motive?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
D. thinks little of Gallix's summary.
"Convenient..."
He briefly inspects the now dead mage for incriminating documents, and any useful items the group might employ in their mission.
Uesugi Hideyoshi |
As Romnus dies Uesugi mumbles something "Should we meet again let us lay our blades down and remember better times..."
Sheathing his blade he turns to Kreighton Shaine. "Where to next?"
Blaster Corsac |
Corsac looks on in disbelief at the chain of events. He spits the bad taste out of his mouth.
"Desperate times do not always call for desperate measures. I'm no saint, but I expect we didn't need to gut the man."
Shaking his head, he gathers up his gear and looks to Shaine for leadership.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Gallix hears D. and Blaster's comments about his actions and is tempted to explain himself or at least to make some comment in reply. Yet he knows that no excuse could justify them...even to himself.
Remaining silent for the time being, Gallix looks around for the woman he had seen leaning against a pillar and glowing with a now-familiar green light.
GM Red |
Shaine puts his hand on Gallix's shoulder and whispers softly so that the others cannot hear. "This is typically a deed only those lacking basic human compassion and empathy would undertake, and yes, the Society does not smile upon it." He continues, gripping Gallix's shoulder firmly and nods, "I'd like to think that this person had no fate other than this. The asteroid is coming. Earthfall is upon us. Anyone still here... Is going to perish. For that reason, do not let the weight of your actions burden you. We've very little time, so let us move on and put this behind us."

I'm seeing most "votes" for the final Harbinger. I take it you'd like to tackle that before the Vault. Interrupt me if that isn't the case, otherwise a post will follow soon.
Sir D. Arthraven |
This is typically a deed only those lacking basic human compassion and empathy would undertake, and yes, the Society does not smile upon it.
Yet the pathfinder society most likely has a good percentage in the amount of killings done and going on, on Golarion.
D. looks satisfied.
"The mage had some items on him"
People feel free to see spoiler. :)
D. takes a flask of alchemist fire from it.
Sir D. Arthraven |
If that were so, there'd be plenty of shifting, i reckon.
I'm playing in a season game of a friend of mine. The CN ranger is very much fitting the profile of a murderhobo.
Unless requested otherwise, he'll kill anything helpless (which they defeated in combat prior to it) for good measure.
GM Red |
You spot the final glowing Harbinger leaning up against a pillar and sipping on a brown bottle of mead. She looks over at you and recognizes the Master of Scrolls immediately, "Pathfinders. What brings you here? How do you like how absolutely wonderful New Absalom looks?" She smiles, her arms open as she invites you to have a more thorough look at the ancient city.
She looks Blaster up and down and shudders. "Ugh, such a disheveled creature. Look at the way the fur overlaps... By Aroden.. Have you not evaluated yourself recently?" She chuckles heartily at the Kitsune's appearance.
On the other hand, she pays close attention to Mr. Peppers elven features. "Clearly this one ranks higher on the... Racial scale, wouldn't you agree?" She smiles sweetly. "Oh yes... Those ears are wonderful." She traces her finger along Mr. Peppers' face, likely to his displeasure.
Her flirting is interrupted when an arc of green lightning gathers above and crashes to the surface, leaving something strange in its wake. The small creature has vicious, snapping jaws and feet that end in large talons.
"Ah, just in time! There must be something suspicious about these Pathfinders if you've now suddenly appeared." She prepares to fight.
You recognize the creature as a velociraptor, known for their leaping charges, painful bites, and swipes with both of their talons.
She will join the fight. Whether you harm her or not is up to you.

Sir D. Arthraven |
If that's a she, her hair has gone from head to chin..that looks like a guy to me :D
D. shakes his head.
"Allow us to show you the error of your ways."
D. accelerates a grain of sand, and launches it at the dinosaur's head.
Kinetic blast: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
"Your turn fox, let her insult not go unpunished."
D. moves west afterwards.
Sirettis |
Sirettis takes one flask of alchemist's fire and her coins bank.
"Do not bother yourself. His greed was his downfall. You performed the most efficient action."
When the pathfinders meet the last person, Sirettis keeps quiet as the woman flirts. Isa can't keep her mouth shut and tweets up a storm.
"Hush, Isa." Sirettis turns sharply to the bird. "I don't have time for your rambling right now."
Sirettis and Isa argue in Auran for a bit while chaos erupts around her.
Uesugi Hideyoshi |
Uesugi takes the potion of healing and the last vial of alchemist fire. "Who knows what we need to prepare for next." He hands the scroll to Mr. Peppers warily. "No doubt you are a practitioner of wu jen here take this trickery. You have proven yourself very valuable in this excursion."
He then heads off following the others to the last harbringer.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Gallix takes his gold back, along with one of the vials of acid. He carefully inspects the vial to better understand its contents, then carefully stows it on his belt.
GM Red |
Roughly 24 hours have passed, so I'll go ahead and bot Blaster. Side note: I know little about gunslingers, so if I roll him incorrectly, bug me about it.
The dinosaur stumbles as D's blast impacts its head - it lets out an angry roar, but its laughable given its small size.
"Have I evaluated myself?" Blaster grins as he aims his musket. "Have your minion evaluate this!" He fires, but the shot goes wide. "Dagnabbit..."
Musket: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 = 71d12 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
The dino crooks its head as it watches the bullet nearly scrape its arm, then it quickly steps forward and bites at Gallix.
Victim roll: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The dinosaur grabs Gallix's arm in its jaw, and swipes at him with each talon as it holds him.
Talon: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Talon: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Yikes, so sorry Gallix. I normally roll very poorly.
The first talon cuts a large gash across his chest, and the second deepens the wound, sending Gallix onto his back.
Gallix (-3/12)
Dino (-10)
Gallix, Mr. Peppers, Uesugi, and Sirettis are up. Gallix, please roll fortitude to stabilize. If this should get ugly, remember that you now have that Aid Token at your disposal.
