Aklitas Vederic |
Aklitas thinks carefully for a moment.
"Arkath's message mentioned something behind a nameplate. Perhaps we need to lift up the nameplate and speak the password more directly to it?"
GM Fuzzfoot |
Aklitas' idea has merit, and you find that the nameplate can slide off, revealing a small chalkboard and chalk. Speaking the name did not change anything, but...
Thrugg |
"AH! That makes more since." Thrugg approaches and grabs the chalk and writes the password down on the chalkboard.
GM Fuzzfoot |
As you finish writing the word, the illusionary wall disappears, revealing a secret door that opens into some rougher caverns.
Marching order please. You can just update the map by putting yourselves in the tunnel.
Bukkah |
Bukkah volunteers to be third in line, close enough to move up to use his claws if a fight breaks out
Could someone place me third? I'm crappy at trying to edit maps on my phone. Thanks in advance.
GM Fuzzfoot |
I put you in the middle of the tunnel.
Lusha |
Lusha volunteers for point, so he can try to scout out the place.
Looking for Traps: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Looking for People: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
GM Fuzzfoot |
The cavern is dark, but you see a light up ahead in the distance.
Aklitas Vederic |
I moved myself to where I think the middle of the group is going to be.
Thrugg |
Meat shield up front, tower shield is on. Numbers in parenthesis is with the tower shield
GM Fuzzfoot |
You explore the caverns in the dark, but find nothing until you come to the source of the light, which appears to be a small study.
Several desks are arranged along the northern and eastern edges of this small stone alcove. Whereas the stonework leading to this chamber is rough, the walls in the alcove are polished. A single gem rests among the neatly filed papers on the desk, emitting a soft luminescence that brightens the small room.
The paperwork on the desk is a priceless collection of Pathfinder Society lore and information describing dozens of unexplored sites. Most are written in an Azlanti dialect, further encrypted using an old cipher employed by the Society centuries ago. Although it is clear that this collection is very important, understanding the true scope of their discovery requires several weeks of careful study by researchers at the Grand Lodge.
The gem has a continual light spell cast on it.
The gem is worth 550 gp.
Aklitas Vederic |
Taking note of the gemstone, Aklitas casts Detect Magic...
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
"Looks clear. The only magic on that jewel is a basic illumination spell." The memory of earlier combats fresh in his mind, Aklitas waits for others to take the next step.
Bukkah |
Bukkah takes a close look at the desk. He opens the drawer and takes a look at the papers contained therein. "Whoa! Bukkah have many important papers about Society. Need take these to Venture Captains!". He takes the papers out and shows them to the others.
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
GM Fuzzfoot |
So? Packing up and returning to lodge? Who is carrying/taking what?
GM Fuzzfoot |
As you exit the secret chamber, there are four men in black robes waiting for you. They do not speak, but hatred can clearly be seen in their eyes as they move to attack.
Aklitas: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Bukkah: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Lusha: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Blue Longsword vs Thrugg: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Miss
Yellow Archer vs Thrugg: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Miss
Blue divine spellcaster casts a spell.
Round 1: (Bold may go)
Red Swordsman, Green Swordsman, Yellow Archer, Blue caster
Lusha, Bukkah, Aklitas, Thrugg
Thrugg |
Thrugg shift over opening up another attack lane and swings his hammer towards at the blue..
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Bukkah |
Bukkah takes a 5' step forward and claws and bites at the green shrouded enemy.
Claw Attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Bite attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Damage 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Lusha |
Lusha dances out of the reach of his enemies and takes a shot with his crossbow. "Boom! Give my regards to Pharasma! This is what you get for sneaking up on people!"
Tumble NW, W. Shoot Red, who should be out of melee if not attacking me. Spend 1 grit, resolve against touch attack.
Tumble: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Crossbow (Touch Attack): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Aklitas Vederic |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Recognizing that the caster in the back is providing support, Aklitas readies an action to fire a Magic Missile from his wand at him as soon as he tries to cast another spell.
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
GM Fuzzfoot |
Pending dmaage from Lusha, but it won't be enough to change round 2. Also, I am going to bot Volyana to hep you a bit.
Volyana starts inspiring the troops, singing of your valor.
Red Sword vs Lusha: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Confirm?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (8, 2) + 8 = 18
Green Sword vs Bukkah: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Yellow Arrow vs Thrugg: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Miss
Blue begins to cast a spell, and takes a magic missile to the shoulder, disrupting the spell.
Concentration Check: 1d20 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 3 = 12
Wow, that was a really bad round.
Round 2: (Bold may go)
Red Swordsman, Green Swordsman (3 dmg), Yellow Archer, Blue caster (3 dmg)
Lusha (18 dmg, bleeding, unconscious), Bukkah (10 dmg, disabled), Aklitas, Thrugg
inspiration: +1 att/dmg and save vs fear
Thrugg |
Thrugg takes another swing at the green target...
warhammer: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 1 = 22
damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 = 11
GM Fuzzfoot |
Green crumples under Thrugg's excellent blow.
Round 2: (Bold may go)
Red Swordsman (7 dmg), Green Swordsman (14 dmg, bleeding, unconcious), Yellow Archer, Blue caster (3 dmg)
Lusha (18 dmg, bleeding, unconscious), Bukkah (10 dmg, disabled), Aklitas, Thrugg
Aklitas Vederic |
Is Lusha in the right spot on the map, given his acrobatics? It doesn't change my action this round, but it might in a future round.
Aklitas eyes go wide with fear as Lusha falls to the ground. Seeing Bukkah staggering under the blows as well, he calls upon his white mage training, turning one of his level 1 spells into a Cure Light Wounds on Bukkah...
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Also, for my own curiosity, Spellcraft on the spell I disrupted.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Bukkah |
After the slice, Bukkah almost fell. But then he felt healing energy wash over him and continued the attack at red.
Claw Attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Damage 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Claw Attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Damage 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Bite attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
GM Fuzzfoot |
@Aklitas - Entropic Shield was the spell.
And with that, the tables turn! Bukkah receives a surge of energy and puts red on the ground, bleeding.
Lusha needs to stabilize fairly soon, but I expect this will go better than I feared!
Yellow takes another shot at Thrugg, who is getting close, and then starts to retreat.
Arrow Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Blue channels positive energy to rejuvinate his team, bringing both red and green back from certain death. Then he also starts to retreat.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Unfortunately for them, they are prone and barely conscious.
Round 3: (Bold may go)
Red Swordsman (9 dmg, prone), Green Swordsman (11 dmg, prone, disabled), Yellow Archer, Blue caster (3 dmg)
Lusha (18 dmg, bleeding, unconscious), Bukkah (1 dmg), Aklitas, Thrugg
Aklitas Vederic |
Can I tell whether they're actually retreating or if they're just trying put some distance between themselves and the melee fighters while they pelt us from afar?
GM Fuzzfoot |
At present, assume the later. But never too late to be looking for an escape route when you see your muscle go down...
Aklitas Vederic |
I'm not sure if Lusha is in the right spot on the map - his description of his action in round 1 makes me think he should be 2 squares left and 1 square up, but I'm not sure because I didn't see the map before he posted that. I'm going to assume for the moment that the map is correct and that Aklitas can reach him from where he is.
Aklitas turns his attention to the fallen Lusha and converts another spell into a burst of healing...
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Still unconscious, but that'll at least stop the bleeding.
Thrugg |
"Get back her yah coward"
Thrugg charges the archer in yellow...
warhammer and charge: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 2 = 19
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
GM Fuzzfoot |
Thrugg smashes the archer in the chest with a mighty blow, causing him to reel back and rethink his life's choices.
Red tries to stand up, but Bukkah easily tears him apart. Seeing this, Green simply passes out. The archer withdraws from the fight, as it is clearly not going their way, and blue follows him out.
At this point, we can wrap up, unless you want to chase them down.
Aklitas Vederic |
Seeing how easily the battle might have gone differently, Aklitas isn't inclined to pursue them. He searches the two fallen swordsmen, looking for anything that might identify their allegiance or explain why they chose to attack is.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
After a hasty search, he turns to the others. "Let's get out of here in case they decide to come back with reinforcements."
@GM Fuzzfoot
Aklitas has identified a few magic items over the course of the adventure with a caster level of at least his character level, so I'd like to check the relevant box on my Dark Archive faction sheet. Please let me know if I shouldn't do this.
Thrugg |
"Good Riddance to you" Thrugg shouts as they run out the door. "Good thinking Aklitas, the sooner the better"
Thrugg lets them escape, knowing his short little legs may never catch up.
GM Fuzzfoot |
@Aklitas - That should be fine to mark your faction sheet.
Searching the men, you discover these were Norgorberite cultists, who cover themselves as best they can in black robes draped over their armor. It is not exactly clear how they have tracked you, but you can assume they were fighting to steal your discovery and destroy it so that their god can keep one more secret.
I will work on chronicles today, and hope to have them soon. I will do one for each of the 6 of you, although there were only 4 at the end, in case they ever come back. I think they made it through 2/3 of the scenario.
Earlier I asked if you all every got your boons, and if you know the game was reported. I don't know if I can help much with that at this point, but I could drop a line to the organizers if you didn't. It sounded like your GM was going to report it, which means I should not. Let me know - if you are unsure, you should be able to see it under the sessions tab on your character profile.
Aklitas Vederic |
Thanks for the confirmation on the faction sheet.
I didn't make a boon roll because I didn't notice that there was activity on the Discussion thread until it was far too late, so I'm not expecting to see anything on that front. This game isn't listed under Sessions for me, which might mean it wasn't reported or might mean there was a typo in my PFS number.
GM Fuzzfoot |
I have 196214-10 for you, right?
I just send Jesse a note asking about the reporting and boons. Hopefully he will get back, but if it wasn't reported, it might be too late to be part of GDV. If it is, I will create a new session for reporting, but I hope that you were already reported.
Bukkah |
This was the one game I won a boon on in this game day, lol. Not sure if there is anything I can do to get it now. But I appreciate you finishing it up for us anyway, GM.
Lusha |
Sorry about the double post... We "defeat[ed]... An undead creature whose CR is at least equal to [my] character level" so I was going to check of that box on my Silver Crusade card.
