Male CG Half-Elf (Spireborn) Occultist 8 | HP: 75/75| AC: 24 (12 Tch, 22 Fl) | CMB: +9 CMD: 22 | F: +9, R: +5, W: +7 | Init: +4 | Perc: +16, SM: +11 | Speed 20ft | Mental Focus(Pool=15): Conj:2/2, Transm: 6/6 Divin:6/6 Evoc:1/1 | Spells: 1st (6/6), 2nd (5/5), 3rd (3/3) | Active conditions: None

Illuthion kneels to rub at his once-injured leg. "Thanks Daiquiri, thing almost nicked a vein. Gods on high and below, that HURT." From his prone position, he takes in the warehouse. "Wow. This could almost be a tomb; the stuff over there looks like it's turning into stratified layers of sediment, among other things."

He gets back up and walk around, carefully, before plopping himself onto one of the stacked coffins, sucking in air through his teeth as he buries himself in thought. "Maybe we should try and use that crane. Anyone nimble enough to hold on to the hook and secure it to the chest?"

Anelara looks down into the water. "There's also that boat outside. If anyone knows how to use it, we could get it under the chest. Just to be safe y'know."

Male CG Half-Elf (Spireborn) Occultist 8 | HP: 75/75| AC: 24 (12 Tch, 22 Fl) | CMB: +9 CMD: 22 | F: +9, R: +5, W: +7 | Init: +4 | Perc: +16, SM: +11 | Speed 20ft | Mental Focus(Pool=15): Conj:2/2, Transm: 6/6 Divin:6/6 Evoc:1/1 | Spells: 1st (6/6), 2nd (5/5), 3rd (3/3) | Active conditions: None

Illuthion snaps his fingers excitedly. "Yeah, that's a great idea Anee. Who wants to grab the boat and ... well, do that thing she said? C'mon, the faster we do this the faster we can get out of this outstanding piece of waterfront real estate."

Scarab Sages

Male N Human (Garundi) Investigator (Empiricist) 4 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 15 (11 Tch, 14 Fl) (+1 vs traps) | CMB: +6, CMD: 17 | F: + 4, R: +6 (+1 vs traps), W: +6 (+2 vs illusions) | Init: +5 | Perc: +11+d6 (+2 vs traps), SM: +6 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: 6/6 | Extracts: 1st - shield, heightened awareness, ???, ???; 2nd - bull's strength | Active conditions:None

"Solid plan Fin. I'll get the boat and try to manoeuvre it underneath the chest. Give me a few minutes, and I will call out when it's in position." Mekhu leaves the warehouse, and checks the boat for seaworthiness before he gets in and tries to row it underneath the warehouse.

Not sure if any of that requires any checks

"I'll help. I think I might know how to sail."

Untrained Profession Sailor: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7

As soon as she gets into the boat, she realizes that she definitely does not.

Absalom Initiation

There is no check to maneuver the boat or get into it. Mekhu and Jane (in)expertly bring it to rest under the hole, it looks like the chest above would fall right into it if you caused the platform to collapse.

Do you cause the platform to collapse, or is someone acrobatic-ing across? If the later, I need an Acrobatics check to cross, then tell me what you're doing with the chest

Grand Lodge

Male CG Half-Elf (Spireborn) Occultist 8 | HP: 75/75| AC: 24 (12 Tch, 22 Fl) | CMB: +9 CMD: 22 | F: +9, R: +5, W: +7 | Init: +4 | Perc: +16, SM: +11 | Speed 20ft | Mental Focus(Pool=15): Conj:2/2, Transm: 6/6 Divin:6/6 Evoc:1/1 | Spells: 1st (6/6), 2nd (5/5), 3rd (3/3) | Active conditions: None

Illuthion looks around expectantly. "Noone? Huh. That figures." Getting off of the coffin, he walks over to the moldy boards. "Mekhu, Jane, let me know when you're ready, we're doing this one the hard way."

Once they've signaled they are ready, Illuthion will cause the chest to fall by fiddling with the flooring.

Absalom Initiation

Moving things along a bit.

With some careful fiddling, the group collapses the flooring down into the boat. Some wooden debris falls with it, but the group keeps out of the way and is able to successfully clear it.

Carefully hoisting the crate up, you are able to pry it open and investigate its contents! The rescued crate holds a smaller mahogany box inside, which contains five books and a few loose sheets of paper in a leather folder. The titles and subjects seem completely unrelated to each other: Practical Thaumaturgy In Accordance with Creation, Geographic Anomalies of the Inner Sea, Under Kaer Maga: A Trial and Travel, Physiology of Dragons: An Illustrated Reference, Lost Sarusan. The leather folder contains cargo manifestos, warehouse inventories, and other financial logs from a dozen different merchant houses and trade guilds.

The crate also contains 10 sets of masterwork thieves’ tools, three flasks of alchemist’s fire, a flask of acid, a dozen jars of various inks, a footprint book*, adamantine weapon blanch*, three bags of powder*, a deck of marked cards*, and two sets of average loaded dice*. (Items marked with an asterisk may be found in the Advanced Player’s Guide.)

There is nothing left here, but to return to your somewhat unsavory contact. Almost to the home stretch guys, just RP with Gauril, one combat, and wrap up to go! Hopefully we can get through the last of that in the next couple of days before Thanksgiving.

Scarab Sages

Male N Human (Garundi) Investigator (Empiricist) 4 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 15 (11 Tch, 14 Fl) (+1 vs traps) | CMB: +6, CMD: 17 | F: + 4, R: +6 (+1 vs traps), W: +6 (+2 vs illusions) | Init: +5 | Perc: +11+d6 (+2 vs traps), SM: +6 | Speed 30ft | Inspiration: 6/6 | Extracts: 1st - shield, heightened awareness, ???, ???; 2nd - bull's strength | Active conditions:None

Dodging the falling chest and the associated debris, Mekhu manages to stay in the boat. The crane is used to haul the crate back up to the warehouse, and it is opened and examined.

"A strange collection of items, I must say. These books are an intriguing array of titles, relatively uncommon but not really rare sadly. We should pack these things up and return to Mr Karela."

"Agreed! Also on the matter of rarity, I was hoping for something really obscure. Though these would probably make for some good light reading!"

Daraquax looks at the rest of her colleagues, and says, "How about that! We're basically done, first full day of Pathfinder work, and I couldn't have asked for better partners. The day just flew by! There's a nice little tavern we could visit afterwards, The Golden Oyster, it's not too far from here. They've got some nice smooth tables we could write our reports on! I mean, we'd still use parchment, you're not actually allowed to write on the tables."

She seems quite pleased with everyone's work, her bubbly chatter not directed to anyone in particular.

Absalom Initiation

As you return to the Pickled Imp, you see Guaril Karela, apparently concluding a sale with a customer holding a large urn. The greasy proprietor notices you and returns his attention to his patron as he quickly exclaims, "Well, I believe that concludes our business. Enjoy your Thassilonian urn in good health!" Quickly he shuffles out his last customer before flipping the "closed" sign on his door and turning to the group. His eyes shine eagerly with a dash of greed and his lips are turned into an lips turn up into an almost sardonic smile. "Well, my esteemed associates. I assume things went well down on the docks?"

A bit of RP opportunity if people want it. Tonight I'll move things along, with a chance to retcon if anyone had an interaction they wanted to make.

"As well as can be expected, given a horde of oversized rats and a very precariously placed package. I sense that this task was more complex than we had been informed, yes?" Mekhu asks, a note of suspicion in his voice. "If there is nothing more, we must report back."

Absalom Initiation

Gauril twirls a mustache. "Ah, well, the shipment couldn't have been sitting there more than a month, though I know that a bit of 'Security through obscurity' might have been in action. You usually don't hit the Warehouse that looks prosperous enough to be maintained, but not wealthy enough to hold much of value... If there were over-sized rats, though, perhaps some of the contents spoiled and got infested."

"No matter, not my problem anymore. We'll let the local authorities play verminators now. You all did admirably and I'll pass along my high remarks to Ambrus. Come back if you need another job some time." He chuckles. "I can always use quick hands and quicker wits."

Illuthion looks positively befuddled at some of his fellow's reaction. Well, hot damn, maybe it's getting through to them how beneath us this entire thing is. Or is... Huh.

"Mr Karela" he starts as he makes his way to the counter to deliver the goods. Plopping them down upon it he continues: "I... Heh. After spending all day doing errands for half the Society it seems, we're probably not the most courteous of people. But we did get the task done, so I hope that's enough to excuse our ... "behavior". Just, humor me please and answer me this: Did Vee-Cee Valsin approach you with all this to prove another of his thrice-damned points? Or did you, like the others today genuinely need Pathfinders to get your books from your warehouse?" he asks, comprehension slowly visibly blooming in his mind.

Guaril twirls his mustache some more, clearly not understanding. "Points? What do you mean, like this is some sort of a game?" Comprehension dawns on his face and his grin spreads to an almost obnoxious level as he chuckles. "Oh, you thought perhaps this maybe was some sort of a test? I assure you, I don't keep a run of warehouses I stock with rodents and 'precarious packages.' Terrible margins and a waste of resources in derelict storage, I tell you."

"If the lessons you learned here happen to keep you from being killed in some other expedition with more on the line, so much the better. We don't treat recruits with kid gloves, you know. Too expensive." His eyes sparkle with amusement. "I'll have to remember that one, though."

Glancing at the books you brought him, Guaril clears his throat. "Speaking of Ambrus, he's probably expecting your report. You should probably leave along. I have ledgers to balance." He rubs his hands together eagerly.

Male CG Half-Elf (Spireborn) Occultist 8 | HP: 75/75| AC: 24 (12 Tch, 22 Fl) | CMB: +9 CMD: 22 | F: +9, R: +5, W: +7 | Init: +4 | Perc: +16, SM: +11 | Speed 20ft | Mental Focus(Pool=15): Conj:2/2, Transm: 6/6 Divin:6/6 Evoc:1/1 | Spells: 1st (6/6), 2nd (5/5), 3rd (3/3) | Active conditions: None

Illuthion nods slowly. "Riiiight. He probably is. Hope you enjoy the ledgers."

Turning to his fellow agents he continues. "So? Lets get going, Vee-Cee Valsin probably doesn't want us pulling a Drang on him." he says with a smirk.

Absalom Initiation

As the hour is drawing late, you head back towards the Grand Lodge.

On the way, a throng of people blocks the street ahead. A performance art group commandeers the street, drawing graffiti to create a jolly hellscape complete with illusory devils comically dancing around in circles. A few citizens avoiding the crowd slip off-street through a nearby alley, the only egress past the gathering.

Following the detour, however, you see a small group of non-descript travelers: a lithe red-headed woman, a blonde woman in robes, a human male with short brown hair peeking from a hood, and a halfling with a ridiculous looking handlebar mustache. At what seems like must have been a pre-arranged signal, the red-headed woman casts a spell and a thick Obscuring Mist fills the narrow alleyway!

Behind you, the rest of the passer-byes flee, and the the performance group hinders any escape you might make.

The gray outline is the Obscuring Mist

Illuthion curses loudly before focusing inwards. He reaches for self-confidence, threading the feeling into power, into ... an expectation of what will happen, like gravity exerting it's pull, or water feeling wet. He draws his sword and it glints dangerously.

Drawing my weapon as a move, casting Lead Blades as a standard. End turn.

"Kiri, what's going on in there? I can't see anything, or anyone," Mekhu calls, still in his defensive stance, sword held horizontally across his chest.

I don't want to get in the way of the real combat types like Illuthion, so I'll Delay for now.

Things are definitely "going" as the illustrious Illuthion slashes at the hooded man, bringing him to within an inch of his death. The rogue, clearly not wanting to die in such a tragic fashion, springs backwards... but fumbles the dismount slightly as he attempts to withdraw, provoking from both Kiri and Illuthion!

Feeling a momentary flash of memory, Jane strides confidently into the mist, shouting "Tell me where they are, I'll try to pin them down."

As the mists envelop her, a change occurs, her posture improving. Kiri will notice Jane's eyes are now red. Dark and twisty Jane coming out.

I don't want to be rude, but since I don't think that Kiri would actually shout something out when she finds the last one (no doubt preferring to deal with it herself), Illuthion would probably wander in a straight line until he's face to face with the woman. On the plus side, you can always five-foot right next to her! ;)

Illuthion wanders straight ahead, narrowly missing Kiri in the cloud of smoke. "Gods on high... We have this and apparently a pyromaniac wanting to burn us. This keeps getting better." Suddenly he stumbles upon a woman he does not recognize; the blonde from before the fog.

"Burn me huh? Burn this." he snarls, thrusting his sword in an underhand strike.

Concealment, 1-20 miss: 1d100 ⇒ 89

Illuthion's temper clearly is a deciding factor as he cuts the blonde headed caster down, his massive sword leaving an even larger gash down her side. Around you, there are two unconcious opponents (well, three if you include the dying mage), but it doesn't appear there are any active enemies still upright.

Ok, decision time. The cleric and halfling are unconcious, blind, and stunned at the moment, and probably having the worst day of their possibly short-remaining lives. We're technically still in combat, but if you decide to just coup-de-grace it's combat is over. What do you guys want to do?

Sorry for the non-melee in the group; the fog was going to get removed, but then you halved the number of combatants ;)

Just as quickly as she changed, Jane returns to normal, likely before many in the party noticed.

Dark Half Jane would have been very strongly pro-CDG, but regular Jane is fine with a CDG or whatever other solution (turning into the authorities, tying them up and drawing mustaches on their face/shaving off their mustache, etc.) the party prefers.

Daraquax would prefer not to coup de grace them if possible, since they can always be turned in to the authorities, especially since we don't know why they attacked us. I'm writing from my phone now, I can write something properly in a couple hours.
