It seems, he has found the only island of safety in a dark sea of monstrous cephalopod tentacles, squirming and searching for anything to clutch.

If the previous Gearsman was able to withstand Finarin’s attack, the elf doesn’t give this one such opportunity. The Shock grasp -spell first disables the creature’s force field, and the remaining electricity floods into the metal chassis. This onslaught is followed by two swift strikes, the latter of those finding the robot’s power source. The lights fade away from it’s eyes, it’s arms stick into their position, and soon the Gearsman stands motionlessly on the floor.

The gearsman is dead. You can change the golem's action if you want

Next: Raven, Haafiz, Cyrus

Liberty's Edge

Male Human (Keleshi) Level 7, #-7

Sorry for the delay. Busy day yesterday. Haafiz acts after Cyrus and Raven - so he will wait to attack Colon until after either of those two have had a chance to do so. If Colon is downed before his turn, he'll stand up from prone and cast see invisibility instead (and won't use bane this round).

"Well done, Finarin!" Haafiz is suitably impressed once more by the elf's prowess. He twists on the floor and tries to improve his chances against his foe by concentrating his holy on bringing justice rather than pain to this man (swift action: switch to judgement of justice, +2 to attack) and lashes out.

Adamantine +1 nodachi vs Colon, power attack, bane, str belt, prone, judgement: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 2 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 11 - 2 + 2 - 4 + 2 = 25
Damage, power attack, bane, str belt: 1d10 + 9 + 6 + 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 6 + (3, 2) + 2 = 25

Feeling lucky, Haafiz chances to stand up in Colon's presence. At least his friends are not around to help him out.

The wooden golem stands up, seeing his metal foe no longer posing a threat to his lodge.

Hearing the instructions, he moves off towards the only foe he sees.

Finally free of impediments, and foes dropping around him, Cyrus grins his invisible grin and rushes forward to press the advantage.

Attack Colon from Invis. vs FF: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 14 + 2 = 24 for Magic, Elec, sneak attack damage: 1d6 + 6 + 1d6 + 4d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + (5) + (3, 3, 6, 2) = 30

Cyrus' blade flashes out, electricity crackling around it looking rather puny in comparison to Finarin, but still arcing and reaching for flesh as he tries to drive the blade between his enemy's ribs.

Move and attack Colon, no longer invis.

GM Karma, I think that the Zenj Armor is still unharmed, due to hardness 10.
The armor tries to escape the grapple.
grapple escape vs DC26: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Temple map

@Gunari: True, my bad, I forgot hardness. Black tentacles are weird since it doesn't specify what kind of damage it deals. So by RAW it would be untyped damage, and as such would be bypassing DR and resistances and immunities. But looks like hardness stops any damage, so Zenj armor can just lie back and enjoy the massage.

Botting Raven
Escape artist: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Raven manages to slip away from the constricting tentacles, and moves swiftly away from the area.

While Colon is a professional warrior and keeps himself well defended while retreating, he is totally oblivious to the invisible Cyrus. The young ninja has no trouble landing his blade in unprotected flank of the mercenary. And in this distraction also Haafiz sees his opportunity, and makes a sweep at Colon's leg. And this time he strikes true, and the big sword leaves an impressive wound. Colon still stands, but his future does not look promising, especially with the wood golem joining the combat. Still, it doesn't look like he is about to give up. He targets the newcomer Cyrus, since he still happens to be standing, and swing the flail at the young ninja's legs.
Trip, Greater trip vs Cyrus: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
AoO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Iterative Trip, Greater trip vs golem: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Cyrus joins Haafiz in admiring the Lodge floor panels up close, but manages to avoid the damage from the blow. Then Colon turns to the only standing enemy - the golem, and with the same precision sends him to the floor as well. And then he retreats a step into the corridor.

There are sounds of spellcasting further away, but what is happening, no one can see. Only visual effect is that the first area of tentacles disappears. However, the second one still remains, keeping Gunari and the Zenj armor in it's gentle embrace.

Tentacle maintain grapple: 1d20 + 16 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 16 + 5 = 41
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

FYI, Haafiz stood in his last post. Colon would get an AoO on him. Haafiz will wait to see if the others can down the wood golem. He'd like to cast see invisibility and chase after Thilza.

Posting assuming that Colon is still alive. If not, Cyrus stands up and moves down the hall with Haafiz, looking for Dreggs, who is putting all sorts of holes in our walls.

Cyrus curses his lack of balance, ignoring the skill of these mercenaries outright. He spins his legs over his head, pushing up with his arms just as his momentum is carrying his weight up, and flips to his feet. Move action to stand up. Doesn't look like mobility applies to this, so AC is still 26 if he has multiple AoOs.

Once up, Cyrus contines his spinning and dancing, attempting to roll past the trip happy attacker.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO, moving through enemy square at half speed. DC=CMD+5: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25 If this fails, Cyrus AC for this AoO would be 30, and he would end up just to the right of Colon instead of the left.

Two move actions, can't attack this round. If you want Haafiz, you can cut this one down now that we are (hopefully) flanking her.

Haafiz quickly casts see invisibility and moves after Thilza. Realizing that only bedrooms lie to the north, he checks down south for her... but tries to appear as though he is searching for her blind and listening out for her footfalls. Weapon drawn, but waving it around blindly, he walks down the hallway to the point where he could reach out and touch her, but he flails wildly to give the impression that he doesn't know where she is.

"I will find you, witch. You have to open a door some time! When you do, I will be ready!" Haafiz shouts, deliberately loudly as though speaking to someone further down the hallway.

Bluff to appear as though he can't see her: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 -- Hopefully I get +5 for her wanting to believe me, since she is after all invisible.

The aim here is to get her to think Haafiz can't see her so he can get an AoO off on her if she casts or moves out of the way.

I suppose Gunari's token wasn't moved? Can he get out of the tentacles? I believe Haafiz must have ended his rage in order to cast the spell, and therefore he'd be fatigued?

Standing in the corner of the impromptu doorway, Haafiz can see a man he hadn't seen before. This is probably the source of the voice he heard shouting some time ago. The man walks across the foyer, and touches the opposite wall with his wand. The wall starts to ripple, stone turning aside to form a passage to the next room - the Vault.

"Here! It must be here!" the man shouts, excited.

Only Haafiz can see Thilza nodding and smiling satisfied. She almost starts running towards the vault, but the three lined-up Pathfinders are far too tempting target to pass. Sorry, forgot to explicitly end the rage then restart the rage and update my tagline. Yes he is fatigued, but he still wanted to stay in a rage. Up to you. Either I get another rage round, or please add 2 to the damage vs Thilza. Either way, he'll rage now. He also has the strength belt, which effectively cancels out the strength penalty from fatigue (so an additional +1 damage to Thilza please). Let me know if you want me to include the belt in my stats, my feeling was that it would be more of a pain in the butt than it was worth for me.

Haafiz changes his judgement to one of wanton destruction, his rage-filled heart yearns to see this woman fall for the pain she and her minions have inflicted upon he and his friends.

Raven glances down the hall, hearing the man call out about the vault and rushes back to the edge of the tentacles.

"Gunari, stop messing around! They're reaching the vault, somehow. They might be coming your way."

Raven looks at the potion in his hand and then to his spear, shaking his head and gripping the potion, not drinking it. He pops a wand from his wrist sheath, activating it instead.

@Haafiz: IIRC you cannot start a rage while fatigued. Nonetheless, natural 20 hits just fine (but doesn't confirm). Botting Gunari to take a double move towards Dreggs by the vault

No amount of magical protection is of help as the Pathfinder swarm on Thilza. A combination of teamwork, blades, and magic helps the trio to plant their blades on the sorcerer. And once Haafiz finalizes the effort by severing the woman's head from her body, there it is clear that she is no threat to anyone anymore. Well, except for Ibid, who is still trapped in the corner and his way blocked by the rubbery tentacles.

Dreggs looks to be quite unconcerned by Thilzas death. The man steps into the vault and casts a spell to distract the Pathfinders.

A tremendous cacophony fills the air around the three brave warriors, making their ears bleed. The sound is so loud that Cyrus and Finarin must cover their ears, and cannot do anything else. They are stunned for 1 round.

Then Dreggs turns toward his prized target - A Thread of Silver, and cackles like a maniac.

He watches in horror as the technic league agent gets ready to destroy the very book they came to protect and retrieve.

In a moment of panic he moves to jump forward and push into the waving black tentacles, but hesitates at the last moment before entering. He knows he has almost no chance of escaping from the tentacles once they have wrapped around him, and the fact he managed to free himself from the grasp of the black cords even once was entirely a fluke. Once he steps forward, he also know, he will be grabbed and unable to move.

Gritting his teeth together he makes sure an arrow is readied on his bow, and prepares to run forward once his path is clear.

Quite right on not entering rage while fatigued! My apologies for not knowing my class better. I got confused with the differences of the unchained barbarian when discussing the skald's inspired rage (which is actually the thing that doesn't require that you're not fatigued).

"Gunari, if you grab him, I think I could strike at him even with you in the way!" Haafiz cries out, "Just stop him from getting that book!"

Suggesting Gunari grapples him to stop him from casting or moving. Haafiz can then use spring attack to attack him from Gunari's square and then move out of it.

Not sure when I'll be able to post again, so time for some conditionals!

If Gunari fails the grapple or does something other than grapple Dreggs:

Haafiz prays that Desna guide his aim (swift action: change to judgement of justice, +2 to hit, no bane) and rushes forwards and to grab Dreggs himself.

Grapple vs Dreggs, judgement: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 2 = 22 -- If he's armed, he gets an AoO.

If Gunari successfully grapples Dreggs:

Haafiz rushes forwards in an effort to do as much harm to this would-be book destroyer as he can. He asks Desna to allow his weapon to strike hardest against creature's of Dregg's type and does his best to make his goddess proud. (Swift action: change bane to "Dreggs bane")

Open Haafiz's second spoiler.

"Thank you Gunari!" Haafiz cries as he speeds forwards, "Next, see if you can pull him out of there so we can all have a go at him!"

Briefly, Haafiz stands almost heel-to-toe with Gunari as he strikes out at Dreggs. He then jumps backwards and into the corner of the room to clear the way.

Forgot to mention that he'd be using spring attack. Also added the wrong totals. Should be 35 damage total. Token updated on the map.

So close to his target, Dreggs tries to wrestle his way to the book, but Gunari keeps grip. And right behind the Cailinite priest, in comes Haafiz. No need to ever apologize for botting to finish a combat quickly!

"Well done, Gunari," Haafiz congratulates the Caydenite, "Thank you for accepting my combat advice, too. I know you are well versed with the rapier, but we needed to stop him from destroying the book. All of you did so well, and it has been my extreme pleasure to serve with all of you. I hope we can venture together again some time. For now, though, I am sure that you will want to reunite with your friend Lort. He will be back in Absalom soon, no doubt. I was also considering staying here in Nantambu... if the enchanting Aya Allahe will have me, that is."

So, what was the deal with the singer outside? Simple coincidence?

As Raven gets around the corner, seeing that the final League member is under control, he gives a sigh of relief before turning and beginning to do what he does best: Clean up messes.

Putting out fires first (Create Water) while listening in to the conversations and debriefs. After the tentacles fade, he grabs his spear tight and resolves to never leave it off of his person again.

"So, are any of you able to fix Aya's walls here?" is the only time he speaks, before switching to the bodies, checking them over for items, gear, and pulses, sorting them near the secondary exit they had made.

On his mind is the journey back north, to the Keep he will take possession of after his check in at the Grand Lodge.

"WHAT?" Cyrus sticks a finger in his ear and shakes his hand vigorously, trying to rub the ringing out of it.

"SORRY, STILL CAN'T.... Wait. I can kinda hear you." the ninja shakes his head again.

With the threat neutralized, Cyrus heads outside to make sure there won't be any more thugs coming in through the opening in the wall, and to make sure no wandering eyes get to close. Hopefully they can still maintain the secrecy of the lodge, despite the attack.

"Was that sorceress using a wand to make the holes in the walls? Maybe we can use the same wand to fix them..." Cyrus offers.

Temple map

Raven's magically created water quickly douses the flames, and the last threat to the lodge is over. The fireball and the flames it created destroyed some tables and benches, and painted the walls black with soot. But it's nothing a little bit of Mending magic and some manual work wouldn't fix.

Cyrus investigates the bodies of the intruders, with Finarin helping to identify the gear they were carrying. And looks like the source of the holes in the walls was in indeed the wand Dreggs was carrying. It was holding the spell Stone Shape, but now all the charges have been used. Luckily, the sorceress Thilza also carries similar wand, but this one still has five charges on it. While looting the sorcereress, Cyrus spots another curious thing about her: there are armor plates of unknown substance implanted right on her skin.

By the time Aya returns from her studies, the Pathfinders have managed to fix most of the damage. But the bloodstains and corpses do tell a tale of something happening. "Good heavens! What happened here? Was it the Technic League? Are you all right?" she asks clearly worried, and doesn't calm down until she has seen that every one of her guests is alive and well.

"At least Ibid stuck two of those thugs early on before he decided to play tentacle monster giggle-pokes in the corner over there." Cyrus chuckles, not realizing that the old man might be sensitive to being forced out of the fight.

"You could consider a potion or scroll of fly Ibid. Then a little grabby grass won't keep you out of the fight next time. More fun for us I guess." Cyrus winks and Finarin.

After the fight is over, Gunari goes over to Finarin. "I might not have any of your Chelish red, but we need to talk. I just remembered something... funny how combat sobers you up, sometimes.

"I don't remember all about what he said... we were fighting for our lives at the time. He called you an ass... which I suppose brothers are allowed to do. He did wish you well... and I think I promised to keep you alive if I survived. Well, I think that is what it was. He hopes to cross swords with you again, or something? Was your rivalry that harsh?"

Gunari then stops for a moment. "I am not sure why he didn't talk to you himself then. It was at the Aspis attack, as you might recall. You know, when I got eaten by a Rukh, and then dropped on a cart carrying a keg of lovely Trollheim mead..." A tear forms in the warpriest's eye.
