"Cripes..." the old man stammers in shock as the wall begins to open up and enemies seep through the fissure. "We might be trapped back here with them, Raven..."

Reaching down and grasping the strange vial, Ibid throws back his head as swallows the mixture in one ungraceful gulp. As the rivulets of the mutagen run down his chin, he pulls up his bow and takes a step back away from the archway leading into the library. His eyes narrow on the passage as he prepares to fire at anything entering the room.

Blast! he thinks in a panic. We need those defenses to activate or this could go badly.

Raven rushes over to the doorway where he left his spear, looking as Ibid prepares for battle. He takes a defensive posture, unarmed, and speaks to Ibid.

"Shoot true, friend. We'll need every arrow to land well."
Inspiring Word blessing, +2 Morale Bonus to Hit for Ibid for the next minute, should apply to his readied as well.

"Hey, guys, is something going on?" Gunari hear the commotion going on, and casts shield of faith, stands up, and draws Cayden's churchkey

Temple map

Apologies, Gunari. I don't how I missed you... But now you're there among the others. Cyrus, I'm cool with the meta. Just head indoors.

To Raven's and Ibid's horror, more mercenaries pour from the hole in the wall. These ones start marching double speed towards the Pathfinders, stopping only once they're within their guisarmes' reach. Ibid, being ready for their assault manages to sink one arrow into the first one coming into view. Likewise, Raven has time to cut a wound into Detritius while he maneuvers into position.

Raven AoO vs Detritius: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 Is it correct? I took it from your profile, but couldn't find explanation for the +7

Next, the two see a blurry form of a woman in robes entering the Lodge. She glances at the two, and quickly resumes her walk in other direction. "Only two of them, I'm sure you can handle them. Dreggs, find that book!"

"What does it look like what I'm doing!?!" A voice can be heard from kitchen, perhaps belonging to the man first entering from the hole. This is followed by sounds of spell being cast, a moment of silence. "Ah, I think it's somewhere over there"

Then, one mercenary appears from around he corner, and walks into formation with the others. He catches Raven's foot with the hook at the tip of his guisarme, and pulls quickly. The elf looses his footing and during his fall receives a heavy beating from the trio.

From the floor he can see the metal man moving away, much to his relief.

Outside, the young lady continues singing, but only Cyrus and Haafiz are aware of that.
"(It could be wrong, could be wrong) But it should have been right
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) To let our hearts ignite
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) Are we digging a hole?
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) This is out of control"

S%#& S&^# S$%@!

Cyrus flings open the main door and runs straight across the entry foyer to the room on the opposite side, where the secret door is to the lodge.

Good thing Ibid took so much time mapping this thing out, at least I know where I am going...

The thought of his mentor and his other close friends, nay brothers, being in danger grips Cyrus' heart. The stories he had been told of the Technic League's ruthless methods of extracting things they felt belonged to them also flashes across his mind, and he worries he may be to late.

IBID! He shouts, before he realizes it. His blade is in his hand without hardly realizing he had drawn it as he ran across the foyer. The anxiety is almost overwhelming, and without a thought, his form blinks out of sight.

Move to open, move to go across the room. Draw weapon while moving, swift action to vanish with a ki point. Sorry Haafiz, still can't get that second door open for you to cruise through, the first one is open for you though.

Quick clarification. I had left my spear off to the side to read, figure I couldn't grab that as part of my move (to place) standard (blessing) during my turn, so I don't have reach, can't make the AOO. If you rule differently, great, I will take the advantage.

His eyes glance down to see Raven cast a spell from the floor, managing to not give these invaders a change to sink their blade into him.

Reaching back, the old man's hand finds the shaft of an arrow and he hesistates slightly before drawing it. With ragged exhale he steps back, moving away from the enemies, then pulls up the arrow and fires. Before the first arrow has landed, Ibid has drawn and fired another two arrows. He can only hope to fell one of the enemies, and buy Raven and himself the time needed for the others to reach them.

Turning to the golem, "Defend this house from its .... invaders."

A million wooden sharpnels explode from the wood golem, causing many cuts on the woman. A force field around the metal man glows a little as the shards hit them, but no dents appear in its exterior. The golem tries to slam the metal man with all its might, but with little effect.

"There's more of them" one of the mercenaries comments, as Gunari and the Zenj armor appear in their corner. "Bah, you come deal with this wooden thing here, I'll arrange something to keep them busy," replies the woman, and starts incanting a spell.

The firstcomer seems to guess what's happening, since there's frustration in his voice: "What a you doing? No! No! The book is somewhere there!" But too late - the woman finishes her spell, and rubbery black tentacles start burrowing up from the ground, grasping anything in their reach.

I looked at the map wrong... I can't get as close as I thought.

Cyrus follows the lightning fast inquisitor into the room. His self-conscious mind is grateful again that he is invisible, and no one can see just how much faster Haafiz is than he is, but the urgency of the situation means he won't even register this thought until well after the fight is over.

Seeing the writhing tentacles coming from the floor, Cyrus hopes his invisibility keeps the disgusting conjuration from reaching for him. Doing his best to mimic Haafiz's method of sliding his feet into just the right spots, he angles and high steps through the writhing black mass, eyes half clenched shut for fear of what might happen.

Ok, so I moved through the big black circle. I peeked behind the curtain to try to help - Black Tentacles says it gets an auto attack against any creature that moves into the area. I am invisible though, so I'm not sure if it affects me or not because of that. If it doesn't, or if it misses, Cyrus has the light steps ability, which lets me ignore difficult terrain as a full round action, allowing me to move double my speed. Assuming I don't get grappled, this takes me just out of the area of affect, and still invisible.

Haafiz sprints across the battlefield, leaving the tentacles behind him. Before moving to disturb the spellcasting woman, he takes a sidetour towards the metal man. His plan is to let the steel creature taste his sword, but in his haste Haafiz only manages to deliver a glancing blow.

Ibid moves into better position, and takes an aim towards the woman mercenary. And the old man's aim is true - the arrow strikes the target between shoulder bones, forcing her to cry in anguish. Überwald coughs blood, but is still standing.

The wood golem lies on the floor, slamming. It's left fist glances harmlessly from the gearsman armor, but the right fist pack enough punch to connect. It doesn't do much, however, as a bluish field flashes around the robot and absorbs the blow.

@Finarin: A fireball here would surely destroy the kitchen, and set the furniture in fire. So I suppose you take the other action? The grey square where you move is next to the trip-trio, right? If the enemies move and provoke, will Finarin take the AoO (revealing himself)? You can put the answer in spoiler so I'll not meta their action unconsciously

Invisibility doesn't protect against tentacles attacking, as it's AOE spell and not a creature. But I think I use the the CMB roll from the previous round, so Cyrus will pass the first Tentacles just nice. But I don't know how about the concealment... By RAW invisibility gives concealment, and the miss change would apply against Combat maneuvers. But tentacles aren't a creature, and do not "see" in the first place. Any thoughts?

"Take this clown off my skin, I'll deal with the others! This time I'll get them for sure." Thilza screams, starts casting a spell just like before, and so the library floor starts sprouting the black rubbery tentacles.

The trip trio hear Thilzas command, and starts moving toward Haafiz. The bloodied Überwald and Detritius maneuver unharmed into position and wait there for Colon to catch them. Colon is last to move, and just like the other two before him, he stays clear of the wood golem, but has no idea of the invisible elf lurking nearby. And after a few steps he is quite surprised to find a rapier sticking in his back. He looks at the grinning elf, and for a moment is unsure whether he should fight the elf or the Keleshite. But in the end, he follows the command, draws his flail, and moves into position with the rest of them. Together, they trip Haafiz and give him the whacking of his life.

CMD to escape the tentacles is 26. Check the Grappled condition so see what can or can't do. The CMB is 16 if you try to cast spells. Black tentacles is a nasty spell...

Other pointers: some of the mercenaries are in a pretty bad shape. In case you missed it earlier, Thilza the spellcaster looks Blurry. She didn't look like she was using any material components for the spell. One guy is running loose in the lodge, doesn't seem to care about you (not that you see him anyway, but you are free to meta). And in case Finarin wants to resort to heavier measures, I have no idea how soon would the fire spread around the compound. The more I read, the more I think that concealment/invis wouldn't help against black tentacles, much the same way that it wouldn't help against a fireball. I am in the AoE. This spell just happens to target CMD, not AC or a Reflex save. Its not a creature that has to discern where to hit based on visual cues, it is a spell that automatically grapples anything within its area. I'm going to roll with that, unless someone can make a convincing argument against it. I wasn't able to find any specific FAQ for it. One of the threads I found was marked for FAQ but marked by staff as not requiring a response.

Somewhere from distance a man’s voice can be heard shouting: ”You must dispel your spell, Thilza. The book is somewhere close by, but those tentacles prevent me from moving”
