Ag'mira readies to throw a hex as the creature charges forward, trying to bite Ceobryrn!
Bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 And two Fort saves vs disease and paralysis.
Luckily for the ranger, the creature stumbles and misses!
As the creature nears, those near Ceobryrn are assaulted by a powerful, almost overwhelming stench!
Ceobryrn, Wembly, and Whiskers need to make a Fort Save or be sickened by the stench.
Party up!
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Whiskers fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Wembly realizes he is not much use on the front lines...
"Anyone else want in here? Whiskers and I cannot do much to it."
He will move back to give someone with reach/range a better view.
Orryn Quattlebaum |
Make way! Orryn shouts. Let Ceobryrn draw it out so we can vanquish it! He's a sitting duck otherwise!
Ceobryrn |
fort vs stench: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Ignoring the stench, Ceobryrn draws his sword and attacks the creature.
scimitar 2h w/PA: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 1 = 14
damage if hit: 1d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 3 = 9
Antonella Schiavo |
Channel Positive Energy to harm undead: 1d6 ⇒ 5 DC 13 Will save for half
Antonella’s voice is calm as she acts as a conduit for Irori’s Grace.
“Ceobryrn, if you withdraw to the sewer path, Agmira and Heccan could ready to hit it with burning hands, say as it comes through the doorway. I am now going to withdraw myself, to allow someone to attack from my spot if they wish.”
Antonella moves 15’ to the east, directly behind Orryn and Stellah.
Ag'mira |
"Well someone needs a bath and a good scrubbing. Wembly, I hope that isn't Whiskers"
Ag'mira stares around the corner at the stinky creature and tries to figure out what we are dealing with and any immunities, resistances or weaknesses it may have.
KN Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
"It’s your fault I’d say
let this blind you
Forlorn in sullen head
Suffer your ill intent"
Heccan Abraxi |
Heccan looks to the beast, then looks down trying to quickly decide on a course of action. Upon hearing Antonella, he smiles a bit and looks up. I think Shiavo has the right of it Ceobryn. Draw the creature back into the hall and to the east. Ag'mira and I will have something ready to greet it.
Heccan darts across the hall and lines up on the west end of the hallway behind Wembly.
GM Tektite |
Ceobryrn swings at the undead thing, but misses! He then takes a step backward, trying to draw the creature out!
Wembly and Whiskers move back, making room for the heavy hitters!
Orryn calls out directions from the back!
1d20 ⇒ 18
Antonella channels positive energy, but the creature proves resistant to her goodness!
1d20 ⇒ 2
Ag'mira lets fly her hex, seemingly effecting the creature!
Heccan follows Wembley's example and moves back!
@Orryn: You are delaying, I assume?
Orryn Quattlebaum |
Well, if Ag'mira does this...
o X X

...instead of this...

Orryn & Stellah are fine. But I never have any issue with unintentional collateral damage in a scenario anyway, so consider this express permission if needed. :-)
GM Tektite |
Orryn delays, waiting for the creature to be drawn out!

Misfortune Claw Attack vs Ceobryrn: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
The creature steps up and tears into Ceobryrn, clawing him!
Party up!
Ceobryrn |
if I read the post right only one claw hit ceobryon.
curr HP 18/28
fort save vs paralyze: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Due to the creature curse only one claw hits the ranger, but that is enough as his body locks up.
paralyzed :(

Orryn Quattlebaum |
If someone mentions that Ceobryrn is paralyzed, Orryn will come off delay.
By the damnable hordes of Belkzen! Orryn curses. He attempts a fast dismount Ride DC 20: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33, then takes a five foot to grab the ranger and attempts to move him out of the chamber. Orryn will regrettably have to drop him below the ledge, probably, with the hard corner there.
Ag'mira |
If Ag'mira can see Ceobryrn is paralyzed she will shout out to the party.
"Ceobryrn needs assistance he looks paralyzed"
She will hold her readied action until the creature moves around the corner.
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range 15 ft.
Area cone-shaped burst
Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw Reflex half; Spell Resistance yes
A cone of searing flame shoots from your fingertips. Any creature in the area of the flames takes 1d4 points of fire damage per caster level (maximum 5d4). Flammable materials burn if the flames touch them. A character can extinguish burning items as a full-round action.
After her spell is released she moves her full move behind Heccan
Heccan Abraxi |
Heccan's brow furrows with concern when Ceobryn stops moving. This is not going well at all. Someone get the ranger free, I think that creature has done something dark and terrible to the man.
Heccan's arms are raised, with hands spread, waiting for a chance to unleash dark energies on the creature.
Wembly Templeton |
If none other attempt it, Wembly will urge Whiskers to try and pull Ceobryrn free and back into the hallway.
" whiskers, we need to get him out of there!. "
no sure what type of roll or command is needed. I believe Whiskers is strong enough to pull a the ranger.
Orryn Quattlebaum |
Dragging Ceobryrn back will still provoke an AoO. Is that what is going to happen?
Yup. Got to get him out of there.
GM Tektite |
AoO vs Ceobryrn: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 Fort Saves vs Disease
Orryn darts forward, ignoring the stench coming from the creature, and grabs Ceobryrn by the collar, dragging the paralyzed man backward, but the undead manages to bite and rip through the flesh of the ranger's limp arm as it flails forward!
1d20 ⇒ 16
1d20 ⇒ 9
Ag'mira takes advantage of the opening and unleashes a torrent of flames over the creature, but it tries to use the door frame as a shield from the fire! Luckily, the flames envelope it, filling the tunnel with the sickly smell of burnt, rotting flesh!
Don't forget Fort saves vs stench if you are within ten feet of it.
Antonella, Heccan, and Wembly are up!
Wembly Templeton |
I missed in Orryn's spoiler that he was dismounting to pull the ranger. If he wanted to stay mounted, Wembly/Whiskers will do the pulling so he can attack? Also, do we make a save each time in stench or once per encounter?
Heccan Abraxi |
I believe Heccan can step up and occupy the same square as Ag'mira to use a similar angle for another dose of Burning Hands. If Heccan is able to do that, he will step up next to Ag'mira and unleash another BH spell.
Ag'mira |
"Be careful the creature is a ghast, an undead spawned from succumbing to ghoul fever. This one seems particularly strong, as if it was a barbarian in its past life, as it seems to be in a rage. As evidenced by Ceobryrn, these creatures can cause paralysis, disease, and their rooting stench can overpower those around it. Sorry Antonella, ghasts of this power are also resistant to positive energy."
Ag'mira finishes her spell and moves out of the way of Heccan.
Fort save vs stench: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Having lived in many seedy places with similar bad smells she shakes off the effects of the foul odor.
GM Tektite |
Just once. If you make/made the save, you don't have to make another save.
Antonella channels positive healing to her companions!
Heccan moves forward and releases another gout of flame!
3d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) = 6
1d20 ⇒ 11
This time, the creature is able to duck behind the door frame, avoiding much of the flames!
Wembly "OR" Orryn is up!
Ceobryrn |

The ranger looks a little I'll too, apparently something that ate him didn't agree with him.

Wembly Templeton |
Assuming the ranger is prone and paralyzed, can Wembly and Wiskers use his square?
Wembly will have Whiskers stand guard over Ceobryrn and ready to attack the ghastly creature if it moves forward.
Wembly will draw a flask of acid from his pack and hurl at the creature
"Let's drop this thingy before it gets out in the hall!"
ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 vs touch AC for acid: 1d6 ⇒ 2
GM Tektite |
A paralyzed character is frozen in place and unable to move or act. A paralyzed character has effective Dexterity and Strength scores of 0 and is helpless, but can take purely mental actions. A winged creature flying in the air at the time that it becomes paralyzed cannot flap its wings and falls. A paralyzed swimmer can't swim and may drown. A creature can move through a space occupied by a paralyzed creature—ally or not. Each square occupied by a paralyzed creature, however, counts as 2 squares to move through.
So, I don't think Ceobryrn is prone. Also, since Orryn moved him, I think positions are incorrect. I don't remember where Wembly/Whiskers was, but Orryn mentioned the ledge. Positions are correct on map and Ceobryrn is fine where is without needing to worry about an Acro check.
Wembly moves to an open spot and tosses a flask of acid, hitting and burning the undead a little.
The creature moves forward and strikes out at all within reach!
Bite Attack vs Wembly: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Two Fort Saves DC 19 vs paralysis and disease.
Claw Attack vs Heccan: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Claw Attack vs Orryn: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

The undead noms on Wembly, while clawing Heccan!
Party up!
Orryn Quattlebaum |
Also, Orryn dismounted. I've adjusted to reflect that.
Upon hearing Ag'mira's warning, Orryn reaches into his haversack and pulls out a vial of holy water, pouring it onto the ghast!
touch attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
But the ghast moves out of the way, taking just a point of splash. Damn!
Looking on the other side of the ledge, the halfling calls out Heccan! Get clear, man! Let me move there and give Antonella a spot to move up!
Ceobryrn |
paralyzed 2 of 4 rounds, HP 10/28, diseased
Feeling helpless, Ceobryrn remembers the fly spell potion he had used to ferry companions across. If it is still in effect (5 min duration) and if it can be controlled by thought only he tries to fly across the stream to the far side.

Ag'mira sees Heccan get hit and moves in behind him to heal his wounds or drag him back out of the way if he is paralyzed.
Watch those claws. Nice hit Antonella!!
If just injured...hopefully

Heccan Abraxi |
Heccan takes a viscous claw to the chest and once again slams against the wall. He opens mouth, likely to issue some derisive retort or pointed complaint, but his mouth stops moving before a word can be uttered. Heccan's eyes go wide is shock and fear as he suddenly stops moving all together. He can say or do nothing as Ag'mira tries to drag him to safety.
Thanks for looking out for Heccan Ag'mira. He really should do a better job of not putting himself into melee range. This critter is one tough mutha!
FORT save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Orryn Quattlebaum |
“Orryn, if you step 5’ to the north I can take your spot.”
Orryn nods and steps as Antonella suggests. Can't say I think much of this fighting out of the saddle, he thinks to himself as he grabs his sickle and attacks the undead thing.

Orryn swings his sickle, and strikes the creatur deeply!
As the creature moves up, Whiskers takes a mighty bite out of the creature, then is unable to bite or claw it once more!
The creature, though heavily wounded, still rages against the party!
