You open the door and see a human male in the center of the room. He faces the door with a dagger in hand, cleaning his fingernails. On his chainshirt you spot a bronze Aspis badge. Behind him you see ten people on a raised dais. They are gagged and bound. Above them, hanging from a string, you notice a wine goblet. pink circle on map

The Aspis agent smiles at you "Well, well, some upstart pathfinders show up to rescue their comrades. I suggest you leave very quickly or I will be forced to kill your fellows here. We wouldn't want that, would we?"

Why don't you come over here and we can chat

Kryas cast Command if the guy is within 25 ft. using Approach as the command. Approach: On its turn, the subject moves toward you as quickly and directly as possible for 1 round. The creature may do nothing but move during its turn, and it provokes attacks of opportunity for this movement as normal. DC 15 will save.

His eye's glow a reddish aura, he holds out his hand attempting to distract the man for his sneakier companions

Therefore, a fight is either going to be breaking out immediately, or the foe is about to be magically eliminated.

Balinor readies an action to cut down the Aspis agent (or any other foe) who advance to attack his party members.

Thomas makes sure nothing is still trapped inside and accepts the gratitude of the students. You sheath your weapons, move outside and look around for more things to do.

The beauty of the Grand Lodge’s well-manicured grounds is shattered by the sounds of shouts and screams from panicked initiates, support staff, and visitors. Frightened innocents trip over hedges and stumble through fountains and pools in an effort to get to safety by the most direct means possible, especially when the landscaping otherwise leads them to certain peril.

Apparently the attackers turned dangerous creatures loose on the campus from the menagerie to serve as the perfect distraction for dozens of subtler plots...

Kryas, you cast the spell alright, but I never got to make the save as the others killed the aspis agent. I usually wait with rolling saves for command until the initiative count of the one to be affected to not influence actions: you don't know if it worked until he does what you want or not...

As tempting as it might be for her to make this a solo mission....

Rilia knows well how to encourage men to perform to their utmost capability--limited as that might be but particularly when it is something crude or uninspired such as 'Bash stoopid bug-thing.' She uses that ability now by way of obscure suggestions (like "Bash the stoopid bug-thing or I will so totally flame every last one of you miserable wretches with my bead of fiery death!") and subtle body language (that suggest she is serious).

Inspire courage/thuggery +1 moral vs charm, +1 competence to attack and damage.

Oh my gosh! I looked at the map, picked which beetle I was going to attack, posted, and never realized I hadn't mentioned which beetle. Sorry about that. Randomizing was a fair and expedient way to handle it. Thanks.
