Round 6 (complete)

Zurnzal draws his bow and shoots at the wizard.short bow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 The arrow bounces off.

Round 7

Rataji moves into the room, slowly.

The Professional delays until after Jolyrin.

Jolyrin moves to attack. Her blade does no damage, but the cold, fire, and electricty all get through, staggering the wizard.

The Professional moves to flank, and slugs Zey with her sap. Some of the damage gets though, leaving an angry red mark on the side of the wizard's face.

Gazwyr flies from the room and draws a potion. "Yes, run away, worm! You may be the only one alive to tell the tale!" Zey taunts.

Marnarius fires twice, but only his first arrow hits. It actually leaves a scratch on Zey's check, penetrating his magical defenses slightly.

Aram Zey floats away from his attackers, and pronounces the arcane syllables of a spell.

spellcraft:
chain lightning
An arc of lightning extends from his hand to The Professional, and then jumps to everyone else in the room! electricity damage: 11d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 3, 2, 5, 2, 4, 4, 1, 2) = 33

Reflex Saves DC 23:

Joliryn the Artist: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 - success! 16 damage
Marnarius the Vengeful: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 - fail; 33 damage
Rataji the Leader: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 - fail; 33 damage
Shohiraj the Professional: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 - fail; 33 damage
Zurnzal the Ambitious: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 - success! 16 damage

He follows up with a quickened spell, firing three bolts of fire!

spellcraft:
[quickened scorching ray

ranged touch - Professional: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 2101-50=miss: 1d100 ⇒ 40
ranged touch - Jolyrin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26fire damage: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 6) = 11
ranged touch - Jolyrin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21fire damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 1) = 13

No one falls, but several of you are quite badly wounded.

Zurnzal is up, followed by Rataji, Professional, Jolyrin, Gazwyr, Marnarius!

Grand Lodge

Joliryn | Female halfling magus 7 | Init +4 | AC/T/FF 20/15/16 | hp 28/59 | Fort/Ref/Will +10/+9/+7 | Eldritch pool 4/7 | Percep +1

@GM: you missed the miss chance on Jolyrin for her blur effect. I'll roll them here for speed, but feel free to reroll them yourself if you'd prefer.
miss chance ray 1, 1-20 misses: 1d100 ⇒ 94
miss chance ray 2, 1-20 misses: 1d100 ⇒ 76

Also, Zey was staggered so he would not have been able to move away and cast both of those spells. He would only be able to move away and cast the quickened one, or stay where he is and cast both. I'm going to assume he moves away and just casts the quickened scorching ray, so I won't take the damage from the lightning for now.

Both scorching rays hit Joliryn, grievously injuring her. She feels there are few options other than dealing as much damage as possible to Zey as quickly as possible. She casts shocking grasp, then follows him and tries to deliver it on him.

keen flaming shocking burst kukri: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 plus flame: 1d6 ⇒ 2 plus shock: 1d6 ⇒ 4 plus shocking grasp: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 5, 5) = 18

Thanks on the blur. As for Zey's movement, his action was the standard to cast chain lightning. He auto-makes his fly skill to move less than half his speed, so 5' stepping (a free action) is fine. Quickened spells are swift actions, which are also fine when staggered. So, alas, you take all the damage.

@Jolyrin don't Forget you're a magus and when using an arcane point you can make a spell combat

Badly hurt, Shohiraj knows that the only way to deal with the wizard was to hit him hard. Still teaming with The Artist she strikes.

Sap: 1d20 + 11 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 2 - 2 = 25
Damages: 1d6 + 6 + 4d6 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + (2, 6, 6, 1) + 8 - 2 = 30

@GM: Ah, sorry I didn't realize he only moved five feet, when you said he floated away I assumed a move action. Got it. Can I retcon doing a full attack instead of a single?

@Professional: Same thing, I had assumed that Zey moved more than five feet based on the GM's post.

Wow. What a tough fight, and difficult to run. One observation is the DC drops by 2 on chain lightning after the primary target but since the Professional was the original I am not sure that matters. She would have made it and taken no damage if she had been a secondary target. Also, am on my phone and can't get the map to load but all targets of he chain lightning need to be withi. 30' of the original target. Considering height I am not sure all were. Also if the professional has a DM reroll that might be the save to take it on.

Yep, you can retcon to a full attack. And yes, I forgot the altitude difference, so the damage only applies to Jolyrin and the Professional.

Grand Lodge

Alright, so Joliryn's attack bonuses decrease by 2 for using spell combat, so that roll above was a 22 to hit. Probably misses, but since I'm casting a spell I lose the held charge anyway.

Joliryn, realizing how nearby Zey actually was, is able to get off an additional attack.
keen, flaming, shocking burst kukri: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 12 - 2 = 24
damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 plus fire: 1d6 ⇒ 5 plus shock: 1d6 ⇒ 3 and if the shocking grasp wasn't discharged by the other attack, it is (hopefully) now, for 18 electricity damage.

On his turn Gazwyr drinks his only potion of healing and prepares to get back into the fight. He moves up to near the entrance, but not so far that he can see Zey or Zey see him.

Cure Mod: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (4, 7) + 3 = 14

Jolyrin's second attack also hits, just doing energy damage.

It seems we've lost most of the party, so I will continue with whomever is still here to determine how this ends. I will make heavy use of the instructions people provided earlier, modified for conditions.

Round 7 (complete)

Zurnzal, stuck on the ground, fires arrows.

Shortbow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Shortbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Both arrows hit. While the second one shatters on impact, the first draws another red line across the wizard's cheek.

Holidays can slow people down significantly.. hopefully on Monday we'll be out of all that.

Yes, but the game ends Monday....

Round 8

Rataji uses his arcane bond to recall and recast lightning bolt at Aram Zey!
electricity damage: 7d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 4, 3, 5, 6) = 27
Reflex save DC 18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 - success, half damage = 13

"Is that the best you've got, wizard?" Zey mocks, but you can see his bravado slipping under the force of his injuries.

The Professional loops around to flank with Jolyrin and slugs the wizard again! The mighty blow definitely damages him, quite badly.

Jolyrin is up, followed by Gazwyr and Marnarius! I will move us forward based on your NPC orders at 5PM Central Standard Time (GMT-6) if you can't post. Almost there, we just gotta finish by tomorrow!

damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 plus shocking burst: 1d10 ⇒ 4

Actually, it's DC 15 plus double spell level, so you would fail... But you rolled a d10 instead of a d20, so let's do that again...

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

Round 8 (continued)

Jolyrin casts shocking grasp and slashes Zey twice. The blade never gets through his stoneskin, but the combination of energy damage knocks him unconscious!

Whew! Out of combat. Quick wrap-up please!

Male Dragon (Green) | HP 18/66 | AC: 18, Tch 11, Flat 17| Fort: +7 | Reflex: +6 | Will: +10 | Init: +1 | Perception +15, Blindsense 60', Darkvision 120, Low Light Vision 7 hit dice

When the lantern is ready he bites.

Well done Jolyrin ! Glad to have you with us ! says Shohiraj happy to be alive after this tremedous fight.

Yes, the lantern ! As 322 ask us to use. adds Shohiraj who waits for Gazwyr to give the death blow.

Rataji "the Leader" | AC14/12/13 | F5R7W9 | HP51 |

Rataji limps over to the sky key and snatches it off the pedistal. He is utterly spent.

Let's get out of here before we get into any more trouble. He growls.

It takes a couple of attempts to finish Zey off, as his stoneskin is still up. Still, eventually he dies, and the lantern glows with an eerie blue light. You can see a faint mist expel with Zey's last breath and travel to the lantern, where it fuels the lantern's glow.

With Zey dead, it is a simple matter to collect the Sky Key and make your way towards the exit. Near the exit, you have a momeentary scare when you encounter another group of agents, but they show you their Apsis badge and give the proper passphrase to identify themselves as your allies.

As you escape the Grand Lodge, wyvarans, yetis, extraplanar humans, and more rush about the walled campus attacking their Pathfinder oppressors, releasing more of the caged menagerie, and setting fire to structures. Only a short while later, the northwest tower of Skyreach tears free from the castle and begins gently floating and
orbiting the campus.

Over the course of several hours, the Pathfinder Society gradually subdues most of their assailants, restores some semblance of order, and even recovers the Sky Key from your obviously-less-competant pick-up team. These are nevertheless hollow victories, for the Society’s access to the Hao Jin Tapestry demiplane is crippled, the Master of Spells is forever dead, and the Grand Lodge that was once the pristine home for Pathfinders worldwide is scarred and scorched.

The Aspis Consortium celebrates your success. Each of the PCs receives a missive from her respective contact, congratulating her on a job well done. You have played a key role in ending an era of
Pathfinder Society aggression and heralding a new age of Aspis Consortium dominance. You each receive compensation as promised, and in the coming months, the Aspis will certainly have more work for you.

Feel free to finish up any RP interactions, and please post your day job rolls for the PC you are assigning this to.

It was a pleasure and a privilege to work with you guys. I hope, we could team up again in the future.

She turns toward Rataji and adds You were a good leader Rataji. Hope Gold awaits you after this. The Aspis needs man like you to stop the Pathfinder Society.

Shohiraj has no Day Job so none for her.

Yes.

Mr. Handsome up there has no XP. Can this count as his first game?

Yep - I can reduce the gold to 500gp, but then you don't get any boons until he reaches level 7.

Sounds good. Thanks for running this! And good job finishing up everyone!

Chronicles are located here

I plan to report the game tomorrow, so please make sure you have answered any questions like faction, etc. before then. Cartmanbeck, I also need to know which boon you want - I PM'd you a list. If I don't hear back I will have to randomly determine which one you get.

Thanks everyone for this game, and I hoped you enjoyed it despite the several "oops" moments I had trying to deal with Aram Zey's magical abilities.

Cheers,
Scott

Skorn - because of the Core issue, I won't report your character yet. Let me know when the issue is resolved, and I'll update the report to include you. The Chronicle counts immediately, though.
