You receive a message that Zirila wishes to speak with all of you later. She meets you in your quarters later that evening. She's arranged in secret for you to be excused from duty tomorrow to ambush the caravan. And arranged for all the party members to return to the compound. "My friends I hope these items will aid you tomorrow in the ambush."

She presents you with an adamantine morning star, some glass lenses, a horn and a vest. "I expect you to return these later." She also provides you with 1,200 gp to purchase equipment that you might need.

I assume the strategy is to go ahead and set off a bunch of diversions using the various clues (ie commands for dogs etc) and distractions (a fire or rock slide or the like along the route, and the roll up the caravan

To effect that, I'd suggest some endure elements scrolls, enough for our armour wearers for two days. Perhaps a scroll or two to effect the various magical effects we'd like to see that could create a distant visual effect. Similarly, some extra invisibility capability might allow us further options to breach their defences

If I had a map of the expected route I am sure I could thump out a plan :p

The caravan travels through the ravine which has 100' cliffs on the side. You can make a Stealth check to approach within 100" of the caravan if you want to travel down the middle of the ravine. You guys follow the map you found to locate the route of the caravan.

Plan:
- Each person gets a potion of CLW.
- Each person to get 2x Endure, take one today.
- Potion of Invis to Barra
- DL & SI to Jalthas.

- We move up way ahead of the caravan and interdict it.

- Jalthas simply casts an illusion of the canyon, looking exactly like the canyon, and we just sit on the other side of it. We can see them, but all they see is the continuation of the canyon ahead.

- Obviously there was some capacity to lure off guards or use signals, but looks like that isn't in play here (maybe the Halfling was supposed to aid us?)

- When they come into 90', Lance will use his Tactician feat to grant lookout to the party.

- When they close to less than 30' we can move through the illusion and engage.
(If you charge, get an additional +1 from Lances banner ability)

- With Tactician + Lookout running, the whole party will get both a Standard and a Move action in the Surprise round (indexed to -1 of the initiative of Lances horse, Flash)

- The green line as denoted on the map is the illusion.

- The red arrow represents the axis of advance of the caravan.

- The black line represents our trigger point, when their lead elements arrive at that position, it is our cue to assault.

Lance can't really stealth - he's a full plate covered Cav on a big horse - he will need to rely on Jalthas illusion to mask him

Yeah it has the bit about not just trying to overpower them, but we're kinda here now and narrow canyon with 100' walls is kinda option limiting. Similarly there doesn't really seem to be a way to draw these guys off and thin their numbers, so it's a bit brute force and hope we can overwhelm with surprise...there doesn't appear to be too many there - it's pretty inelegant though and more just a robbery than a heist...!

Seeing the wizard at the front laid out by Lance's attack, the guard in the front 1 tries to get his dog to attack and shouts.

"We're under attack thieves!" The dog pants and looks up at him with wide eyes.

The guard in the back does the same.

The dog charges foward and tries to bite Yakanzi. His bite connects and tries to grab hold. The dog latches firmly on Yakanzi's hand.
