Hiiko tries to warn Hyrgan about the door possibly being trapped as she hears him fiddling with the lock.
Otherwise she stands in place for a moment, undecided on what to do.
Delay, let's wait out the elemental and then go get Balon's body...
失敗 (We failed). Unless he left tracks...

Sorry... missed that.

The door was not locked from this side, so Hyrgan easily opens it. However, as he opens the door, a cloud of gas is released. Only Hyrgan is affected by it, however. I have noted the spread

Fort: Hyrgan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 WIS damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Unfortunately poor Hyrgan is affected by the Insanity Mist

Insanity Mist:

DC15, 1d3 WIS for 6 rounds, 1 save to negate

Eolowyn moves, and takes a shot at the elemental through the window.
Bow Attack, DA, Point Blank: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 - 2 + 1 = 13 Unbelievably, she misses.

The elemental then tries to pound on Whiskers again.

slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Whiskers cries out as the air creature hits him hard.

Party is up.

@Hyrgan, I don't know that it would help, especially since it would only have a few rounds.

@Hiko - FYI - tracking in this area would start as a DC15 (Firm Ground), if not DC20 (Hard Ground) as we are in the city.

All - as an FYI - you are pretty sure that just trying to run from the elemental will not work, as air elementals probably move far faster than any of you.

Whiskers attacks, but only lands a single claw attack. Eolowyn launches a couple of arrows at the sentient cloud, but misses with both.

Waiting on Hyrgan.

"Dang it!" Hyrgan says, frustrated at not catching Halmont. Going back in the house, he drops his shortsword and draws his sling to try to hit the elemental from a distance, but the mist is still playing tricks with his mind.
Sling: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 4 = 7

Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Gallows of Madness |Midnight Marauder

Hyrgan shakes off the effects of the gas, but his sling attack goes wide.

At this point, it is very unlikely that you will be able to catch up with Halmont Warrith... so you think it would be a good idea to see if he's left any clues in the apartments... once you deal with the air elemental, that is.

The elemental attacks Whiskers again.

The party can now investigate the house thoroughly. what you find will be in a following post[

Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Gallows of Madness |Midnight Marauder

Sorry - posted with the wrong alias there.

Most rooms are free of evidence, save below (summed up, because there really isn't a lot of point walking around asking room by room)

Perception: Eolowyn: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Perception: Hiko: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Perception: Hyrgan: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Perception: Wembly: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

In the office (labeled in pink), you find a locked drawer. Hyrgan eventually jimmies the lock, and inside you find a pile of documents. However, he also determines that they are useless to you as well. He does find, in the desk, a key which appear to belong to a safe deposit box at the temple of Abadar.

When Hiko goes down the trap door, she finds a cold cellar. in there, she finds a sealed box of documents atop the cabinet to the NE. In it are some incriminating documents. She also notices that one of the cabinets has scuff marks under it, as if it were moved a lot. Behind it, she finds a secret passage that leads to the street a few blocks over.

At this time, you have some evidence, but you don't have Halmont, and you don't have the contents of his safe deposit box. You also need to get to a temple to get Balon raised, so you can probably kill two birds with one stone by going to the Temple/Bank of Abadar.

We'll assume you make it there without trouble, and get Balon raised (though he'll currently only have 5 hp, and be at -2 on all rolls).

What do you do next?

Wembly will call Whiskers back to revive tgd planar cat while the others determine next steps.

Balon actually won't be at -2 to his rolls, since he takes no penalties associated with negative levels. He'll also be happy to heal himself up to full with two charges from his wand of infernal healing. The only real lasting effects of his death are that he can no longer be a carrier for the two diseases he was previously carrying (since a dead creature can't have a disease, according to the rules.)

Once Balon is back in the realm of the (mostly) living, he thanks his allies for their aid. "I have been to the other side, my friends, and I now am even more sure that I never want to be there again. This solidifies my wish to enter into undeath, and serve my goddess for all eternity. Is anyone in pain, that I might help them?"

I am probably confused on this for whiskers...but if the eidolon was at -8 hp when Wembly dismissed him as a std action ( cat was listed as stable but uncon.) then was it slain? I thought only slain once hp = neg con of 13? So was it dismissed and not slain and therefore only takes 1 min to resummOn?

I have set you in locations at the bank, after Balon gets raised. Note that I have Whiskers outside, out of respect of the bankers/priests

Please post any healing, etc., you will do before going to the Bank of Abadar, and then also note any healing you wish to purchase while there.

Costs:

  • CLW 10gp (1d8+1)
  • CMW 60gp (2d8+3)
  • and so on.

They have spellcasting services available up to 5th level cleric, but ask on anything over 3rd level, first.

Then I will need to know what you are going to do, and who you want to talk to. You are pretty sure that Halmont will be coming here.

Cure Light Wounds - Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Cure Light Wounds - Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Restoration (60 gp): 1d4 ⇒ 3
Cure Light Wounds (10 gp): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

After that she looks around to see if she can locate the strongboxes.

"I am unsure what the best approach is, even if he comes here we should try to apprehend him without too much fuss. Or should we empty the strongbox first and try to follow him out?"

How big are these strongboxes? Are they big enough for us to hide inside and draw him in?

ok, reading over the scenario, it appears that they'll only let you get the box if you ARE Halmont (or look like him). Kind of silly, but your knowledge skills are good enough, I think, to figure that out. Watching the people in the bank, especially the cleric guards, you think that violence will not be approved of in the bank, but that Abadar is all about Law, so they'll probably honor your warrant of arrest.

With above information, I'll let you change your plans, since I led you down the wrong path, based on your skills.

Liberty's Edge

Male Gnome Summoner 9 [ HP 84/84 | AC 22/14/19 | Fort +10, Ref +10, Will +10 (+2 vs. illusions) | Init +4 | Perception +10] {mage armor} Summons-V 3/9 - {bralani 84/84 } Whiskers 66/66 AC27 {I summoned, -1 neg level }

seems odd if we have the only key...which we do not know, but Halmont would know if he does not have it...unless he has a duplicate. So all we can do is set an ambush to arrest him once he gets the box, since I do not believe anyone actually can do a disguise since none saw Halmont...being invisible and all.

probably your best bet, Wembley. Also, you'll want to present your warrant to the Abadarans?

Grand Lodge

Female Human Cleric 4 Monk 1 | HP 38/38 | AC: 17/ T: 17/FF: 15 | F:+8/R: +5/W: +10 | CMB +4 | CMD 16 | Speed 40 | Int. +4 | Perc. +12 | S.M. +10

Hiko would probably do so before we try to arrest him... Would they object to us subduing him with non-lethal damage? Get a few blunt arrows and a sap or two and we might be okay...

Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Gallows of Madness |Midnight Marauder

Diplomacy: Hiko - assist: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Diplomacy: Wembly - assist: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Diplomacy: Hyrgan: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

The team shows the clerics their warrant, and through some fast-talking by their bard and others, are able to convince the Abadaran's to allow for an arrest, but only through the use of non-lethal methods. As long as the Pathfinders agree to keep any combat outside of their bank, they'll even give a signal that Halmont is in the building.

I'll post a follow-up, with the set up for the final encounter on this. I assume you're letting Halmont get his stuff, and you'll ambush him as he escapes the bank.

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling Bard(Street Performer)/4 HP 27/27 | AC: 19 /T: 14 /FF: 17 | Perc. +10; Sense Motive +5| F: +3 / R: +7 /W: +5(+5) | CMB +2 | CMD +16 | Speed 20 | Init. +2

I can't tell very easily from the map, but is there only one way in or out from the bank?

@Hyrgan. That you can see, yes.

Liberty's Edge

Male Gnome Summoner 9 [ HP 84/84 | AC 22/14/19 | Fort +10, Ref +10, Will +10 (+2 vs. illusions) | Init +4 | Perception +10] {mage armor} Summons-V 3/9 - {bralani 84/84 } Whiskers 66/66 AC27 {I summoned, -1 neg level }

Wembly will take Whiskers and hide or set up to await the ambush as directed by the others in the group.

"I sure hope he shows up."
