Eolowyn |
"Are you ready?" Eolowyn asks her fellow pathfinders before she opens the door, bow in hand
Ready
Balon |
Ready.
Balon hefts his scythe, hoping there is something he can sink it into in the next room.
GM.Silbeg |
FYI - I have everyone at the following damage remaining...
Hiko: 15 hp taken
Balon: 2hp taken
Unfortunately, Hiko, Eolowyn, Hyrgan, and Balon seem to be affected by some horrid disease, as after a minute horrible tumors start growing throughout their bodies.
Hiko Con Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2 Hiko Cha Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Eolowyn Con Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2 Eolowyn Cha Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Hyrgan Con Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2 Hyrgan Cha Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Balon Con Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1 Balon Cha Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Note how that affects you HP and Fort saves.
The Pathfinders see racks of surgical tools line the walls of this room, which contains only a single operating table. Steel shutters peer down from more than ten feet above the floor. The floor is a mess of broken glassware and dark stains.
Hiding behind the heavy table is a woman, who turns to you and shrieks soon as the door opens. Claws form on her hands, and you notice a variety of alchemical devices on her body.
Init: Balon: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Init: Eolowyn: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Init: Whiskers: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Init: Dalva Aiger: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
The woman (who we will refer to as Davla for no apparent reason), physically grows larger, her hands elongating into viscious claws, her teeth growing. She leaps (jump: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29) up, and as her hands touch the ceiling, she sticks. She is now on the ceiling, rather than the floor, snarling.
Party is up.

Eolowyn tries to identify the woman, but that does not stop her from stepping forward and sending two cold iron arrows her way.

She'd better be an evil outsider, that way I still have a chance my arrows will hit
Arrow tracker: 2 cold iron
GM.Silbeg |
Eolowyn screams out, shooting at the woman. The shock of what has happened to everyone down here has gotten to the ranger, as she misses both shots at the human. If you had to guess, based on your information, and where you are, she would be another alchemist. Perhaps one that was luckier than the two that you faced earlier (the Hungry Flesh), but still affected by the tumor infection. What foulness had the Pathfinders released from Bonekeep that could do all of this?
Party is still up.

I totally forgot about the disease... before readying to go in the next room, Balon would have cast remove disease on himself with a scroll. Are you okay with a retconn on that? If not, he'll cast it after this fight. He will then become an asymptomatic carrier of the disease (Urgathoan Clerics always have this option, from Inner Sea Gods). The Con and Cha damage would stay, though... luckily 1 damage has no in-game effect.
caster level check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 vs. DC of disease
I assume the creature is too high up to reach with my scythe? Would I be able to reach her if I jumped on top the table?
GM.Silbeg |
Balon, that's fine. Doesn't help the damage you've taken, but prevents it from getting worse.
Dalva is up on the 10' ceiling, so you can still attack her. You do also notice the Glyph of the Open Road on her tunic. Based on where she is, etc., you are pretty sure that she is a Pathfinder.
Balon |
Balon will move 30' into the room, and since several of his allies are on the other side of a wall with total cover, he can safely use his channel to harm the woman on the ceiling before they all move in.
negative: 1d6 ⇒ 5 plus DC 15 Fort save or Sickened for 2 rounds, ignoring Eolowyn for the effect.

Hyrgan moves behind Eolowyn and gives casting daze on the lady on the ceiling a shot. However, if she has 5 or more HD she is not affected...otherwise DC is 13.
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly Rides whiskers into the SW corner of the room and casts a ray of acid at the woman.
Acid: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 vs touch damage : 1d3 ⇒ 2
Hiko |
Hiko move forward and pulls her loaded crossbow out of her sleeve, before leveling it and firing.
Light crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Her shot goes wide, probably from just having seen her target...
GM.Silbeg |
Hyrgan tries his spell on the alchemist, and it is very apparent that it did not work on her.
While riding, you do need to make a DC10+spell level concentration to cast. Vigorous Motion: If you are riding on a moving mount, taking a bouncy ride in a wagon, on a small boat in rough water, belowdecks in a storm-tossed ship, or simply being jostled in a similar fashion, you must make a concentration check (DC 10 + the level of the spell you're casting) or lose the spell.
Dalva growls, pulls out a tiny vial, and throws it at Eolowyn. Boom! Electricity explodes from the vial.
bomb attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 1 = 22 electrical damage: 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1, 1) + 2 = 5 and dazzled for rounds=>: 1d4 ⇒ 4 (wow! min damage?)
Ref: Hyrgan: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 Hyrgan takes 2 points (half of the splash damage) as the lightning arcs out and hits him as well (no dazzle).
Dazzled: The creature is unable to see well because of overstimulation of the eyes. A dazzled creature takes a –1 penalty on attack rolls and sight-based Perception checks.

Unfortunately, he misses wildly.
Hiko |
I know I'm not the one casting, but wouldn't a cantrip (0-level) work on a 10?
Hiko loads her crossbow and fires again.
Light crossbow (possibly into melee): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
-Hyrgan- |
Frowning because the lady is out of reach on the ceiling, he moves over to the table and slings a bullet at her. Sling: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d3 ⇒ 1 I'm assuming that since she is 10 ft in the air I'm not shooting into melee?
GM.Silbeg |
I know I'm not the one casting, but wouldn't a cantrip (0-level) work on a 10
you are right. Was thinking there was a min on +1 but cannot find it. So, the spell went off to no affect. No save needed.
Since Balon closed, they are in melee. Both Hiko and Hyrgan miss her.
Wembly Templeton |
Ok, sorry, the plan was that Whiskers takes a single move and then Wembly cast once he stopped. Either way, it is moot since it sounds like the acid hit(?) her but she was immune to the acid damage.
"Well, unless she comes down to play, rinse and repeat, hey Whiskers?" Wembly will cast again.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 for acid: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Edit. I keep thinking Whiskers has 40' move like a normal cat...so that was a double move regardless.

the acid damage did burn her. I was thinking of the daze from Hyrgan. Sorry. Confused GM

Ah, missed that. We'll assume that he was out of the channel this time. So, to leave things the way they are, we'll say you are at the same point (19 hp taken). I would DEFINITELY suggest healing up before you move on, next time.
GM.Silbeg |

Balon |
Wembly is correct, if his mount does not move for the current turn (or takes only a five-foot step) then he doesn't need to make a Concentration check.
@Eolowyn, the duration of your dazzled wouldn't stack, it would reset at 4 rounds when you got affected again.
Hiko |
Hiko sighs a little at Hyrgan's wand technique, but notes the halfling has the Dhampir well in hand. She instead casts burns her Sheild of Faith into a cure light wounds. She then inserts herself between Eolowyn and Dalva and lightly kicks, and heals the bow-wielding elf while keeping an eye on the thing on the ceiling.
Don't know if a "kick" would work for a touch spell's touch, and if it doesn't then she will actually use her hands. Also Eolowyn tallked about moving to the side and then firing, but her token's position hasn't changed, and I don't know where Hiko can or should move.

Hiko |
They are useful but often (at least in my cases) been better to do something about the people causing the problem... if it didn't mess with action economy, such as being a swift action, it would be more useful. As a standard action it pays more, often, to do something else. But then Hiko is not a straight healer or support cleric. Really have been thinking of retraining her domains or maybe into ecclesitheurge.
