Just FYI - if these used to be pathfinder agents, Hopefully they have enough prestige to get resurrected, because they are already gone. No need for mercy here... :)
Finarin Moonstep |
Well, we all have blunt weapons. So I was hoping to deal some acid damage to negate their regeneration - Miro probably want to start singing and do you have acid splash? I plan on moving into melee if I can fit next round - see how much cold or electricity resistance they have. We can always aid another - if Lort/Gunari can start to deal some DPR.
Lort |
The only blunt weapons Lort has are fists. I'm going in! ;-)
Perhaps should have read the discussion before posting, but where's the fun in that? Anyway, fists of fury next round. I just hope their AC is bad. I should probably just hit once until we find out (I'm at +1 / -3 to hit with two fists and power attack). Still, 1d4+7 damage for an enlarged gauntlet ain't bad...
Gunari Maximoff |
Gunari's going in, but using his hammer.
Gunari Maximoff |
Totally not fair.
I am now in two combats (in two games) dealing with Hungry Flesh. NO FAIR!!!
At least my other character is a level 6 inquisitor, using a +1 Adamantine Mace, and will be using Bane on them.
GM Karma |
Heh, I had an idea where you might meet them, and peeking your profile, it seems I was right. On that scenario the hungry flesh wasn't even the nastiest beasties you'd meet...
Well, not that they gave you any trouble here either.

true, that, for sure.
Gunari Maximoff |
Guess I owe you all a beer when I we are at GenCon!
At least the other game is wrapping up now (obviously), and I won't make that mistake twice. I am so embarrassed.
Gunari Maximoff |
luckily, it doesn't spoil any of the acts we'll be undertaking, just the meta-story.
Ibid. Oxley Abel |
No worries. I skipped it too, so I didn't see anything! It's all good, man!
Gunari Maximoff |
Something to remember -- all of the damage we deal her does not have to be non-lethal. We've done about 15-16 nonlethal (assuming my crit didn't confirm), so we should be able to go lethal for the rest of it. Given that Gunari gets two attempts to hit, he'll probably keep slapping her with his rapier, rather than dealing lethal damage (helps counteract the -4!)
Cyrus the Flea |
I was thinking the same thing... If I could only find time to sit down and post on all our games instead of snaking these in between chats with the customer...

Exactly, no real spoilers. Don't worry about it.
Sick kids kept me awake last night, so tonight I'll go to bed early. My next post on the morning...
GM Karma |
Finarin's Frostbite made a surprisingly big difference to the fight... The DEX-penalty made Dalva to fail her Dex save for the grease, and I think couple attacks hit just because the same penalty. And once she was down in the grease there wasn't much she could do.
Good teamwork!
Finarin Moonstep |
Ok so disguise the spell, if Miro doesn't have it it would be 125 for a scroll with 5 spells? Lets split the cost so Miro can cast if we decide to impersonate a Taldan guardsman.
Ibid. Oxley Abel |
I'm sorry everyone, I didn't realize I was behind on our path's game. I didn't think there had been any post... Sorry! Let me nail this DC 25 knowledge check to hopefully help make amends for being an afk jerk.
Sorry again!
GM Karma |
No worries, Ibid.
This next part had no railroads on how you get the paintings into your hands, so make your plans and we'll play from there.
Tonight I'm down in the Emerald Spire, so depending on how late it plays, I might or might not be able to post.
Miro Ammars |
I've got a +8 disguise skill, if we want to save our money. If not, I'm down with chipping in on the scrolls.
Cyrus the Flea |
25 gold each is a small price to pay for disguise, I am up for it so we can all do it together. I still think the first thing we should, if there is time is to pose as new merchants looking to use this warehouse, and have them give us a tour. Then We can incapacitate the guards, or just get to the paintings first and start transporting them before the actual transport gets there. We may need to rent a covered wagon to transport them in, then we could do our sabotage safely in the wagon while we bring them up...

Ibid. Oxley Abel |
Sorry again for the delay, Ibid's post is up. I'm down for whatever plan we want to go with, Ibid probably should probably not be anywhere near the front doing the talking, in fact Ibid will probably hide behind Miro :)
Gunari Maximoff |
Well, we don't necessarily need to buy scrolls... we could just pay for spell-casting services instead. Cost is Caster level × spell level × 10 gp + pricy materials.
However, that being said, disguise self is a personal spell, so only those that have it on their spell list (or have a good UMD) can use it. It also has a shorter duration (10min/level) so I don't think it would necessarily last long enough.
But, we could pitch in to buy a Disguise Kit for 50gp, which would give Miro a +2 Circumstance bonus on his disguise check.
I am thinking that this would be a +5 bonus to his check (for minor details only).
So, this all would give Miro a +15 to make up our disguises (plus an additional +1 for Guidance, and a possible +2 for Aid Another).
Thus, we'd have a DC26-8 disguise target (with the opposed Perception check). I think we'd be fine with that.
GM Karma, does this make sense in your interpretation of the rules?
GM Karma |
Sure, I believe you can use disguise as you described. What are you planning to be disguised as, merchants? Or guards? Either way, as long as you are not planning to pretend to be anyone specific, it shouldn't be too difficult. And as Lort mentioned, uniforms are often sufficient to pass as guards.
However, if you want to pick up the paintings dressed as "the guards making the delivery", you might need some documents. Or sweet-talking. Or something else.
There are many ways to do this, so I don't want to guide you into any particular track... Planning is part the joy :)
Miro Ammars |
Disguise as guards and 'sweet-talking' our way to the paintings seems like a good plan. We definitely have the resources to incapacitate the 'real' guards quickly if they see through our façade.
Gunari Maximoff |
I think the idea is to sabotage the paintings in place, right? We could just walk in, tell the guards they we are their relief. We'll share some whiskey (or something) with them, and then give them some cash to go grab 'a bite and a beer'. We could claim (have Miro claim) that we've come into a to a bit of luck, and we're just sharing the wealth, or something.
Of course, giving them some drink, first, will certainly help. We could even spike their drinks, if we'd like.
---
@Miro, you should train away sleep at your soonest opportunity. Not gonna be useful any more!
Miro Ammars |
True, true. Any suggestions for a replacement?
How about we say we got a bonus from the boss, and that is their cut?
Silbeg |
@Miro - So, you'll be able to do that at 5th level, not before (at least without a retrain).
Some ideas: Feather Fall, Moment of Greatness, Comprehend Language. Beguiling Gift can be fun as well!
As for the plan, I think that's a great idea, Miro... you'll be bluffin' your way through, right?
Cyrus the Flea |
I love how this group can even make an aid another post awesome.

Woohoo! I love PbP for being able to go backwards and read...
A big +1 to that!
Then again, in real life, the suggestion from Lady Morilla would only have been an hour (at most) in the past, instead of 4 days ago. :-D
Day Job: Perform Sing: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Also, now I feel bad for complaining about my roll of 8.
Gunari Maximoff |
I couldn't help it. I had to elaborate on the modified paintings. I'll let others do their elaborations... but don't wait too long, I might have more to come!

Miro must have gotten lead poisoning from his brief foray into the artistic world.

Jyri, don't forget to roll for boons!
Right, we have until Sunday to finish this up for the Game day. We can make it if we cut short the socialising on the next cocktail party.
I'll roll the boons anyway now:GM Karma: 1d20 ⇒ 19
