As if expecting trouble the pathfinders drop onto the creatures almost faster than they can form. Lotti and Buck share sides of the first lion allowing Decado to swipe in and swipe it apart. Nobility disappears into cloudy vapor. That too quickly disappears leaving only the statuette.
Piper turns to the second lion just as Keia unleashes a blast of colored dust. Bravery blinks for a second then drops to the ground. Unlike its counterpart this lion does not turn into vapor. The Lion on the wall seems to shift as mists shift about its form. Then a larger lion also joins the fray. It bites at Piper and claws at Lotti.

The lion shaman and her lion are hurt. Thinking she should pull out like her companion before death takes them, she notices the powerful blow Decado is about to deliver. She instead punches the large creature's paw, snaps at its marble-smooth mane, and twists in front of creature's eyes.
Decado takes advantage of the distraction and his broadsword takes a large chunk of stone from the creature's shoulder. As it falls the chunk releases a mist and the smaller pieces crumble away. Cracks spread from the wound releasing more mist. Soon the stone creature is nothing but mist and that too dissapate in just a moment.
The lion that fell to Keia's magic stirs a little, but it doesn't move. With a coordinated effort the pathfinders are able to dispatch it quickly.
I couldn't let that nice damage roll go to waste! :) Let me know if you would rather not kill the smaller lion, and if so what you will do to prevent it from attacking you.
Cabinets with two tall drawers each line the east and west walls of this room. A relief carving of a lion’s head still dominates the south wall, hanging imperiously over a low stone step. Four freestanding statuettes lie in the step below the carving, the two others lie on the floor.
Behind the secret door, lies another room.
Chests of expert craftsmanship line the walls, and on the far side of the room stand two bookshelves burdened with yellow-paged tomes and sundry ancient trinkets. Banners and tapestries cover nearly every inch of the walls, each representing long dead nations or depicting conflicts left un-chronicled.

Awesome solution to the roll, thanks!

Taldor keeps some of its most dangerous texts here, including primary, unmodified accounts of events from millennia ago, original versions of laws since replaced, records of foreign policy debacles quickly silenced in the interest of decorum, and remarkably objective (and sometime empathetic) biographies of enemies of the state.* In fact many unpublished volumes and treatises provide long-winded but potentially accurate explanations of Golarion lore. Tugo, brings one of the notes found earlier to aid him in the search. Spending ten minutes in this most hidden of vaults, the party uncovers two important pieces of text. Not only do the Pathfinders find a journal describing the origins of the whispering tyrant, but they also find an important document regarding Lady Morilla's specific instructions: historical information on Taldor's lines of succession.
The music upstairs continues playing. Though it is impossible to tell how long you have been down here, it has been quite a while.
*Exploring this trove of historical wealth in detail goes beyond the scope of this scenario, but if you were a Lion Blade you would find your own file in here. :)

"The music's still playing, which means our bell hasn't rung yet, but all the same, we should probably take these two books, and return before we're missed." With that Tugo hands the origins of the whispering tyrant to Decado, and the lines of succession to Piper, "You two are the best equipped to defend yourselves should we be discovered, I think it best if you carried the cargo until we report to our venture captain."
Tugo waits by the door to follow everyone up out of the library which he's quite certain he'll never want to visit again...at least not this section anyway.

Tugo the Liberated |
"Decado, I'm not sure how clandestine we Lion Blades can be walking about with some one of our friend's magnificence," turning to the Lion, he continues, "But all the same, I shall return as oft as the wind permits to share with you my escapades; and should a time come when you can join us--without defeating our cause--I'm sure any one of us would gladly welcome you!"

With that said he turned to his companions and motioned towards the door. "Let's go, time for us to get out of here for real, no traces to be found of us being here..."

Tugo the Liberated |
Tugo snaps his fingers and kicks himself, holding up a finger he says, "One moment!" And he takes off running back into the secret section.
More than a few moments later, Tugo waddles in holding the large bronze shield whose adornment mirrors the face of the Guardian.
"Do you think...this might do?" He asks, out of breath. He carefully--but quickly--sets the bottom of the shield on the floor, showing it to their friend in marble.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
The Gaurdian praises Tugo's resourcefulness and "THIS SEEMS TO HAVE ONCE HELD AN ENCHANTMENT SIMILAR TO... TO MY OWN." The Guardian gingerly grasps the shield in its mouth and concentrates for a minute. As it does so, the shield’s patina recedes leaving a bright and burnished surface.
The inside of the shield also bears the inscription “Glorymane,” "THAT.... THAT IS MY NAME--MY REAL NAME!" the Guardian jovially informs the party. "THE SHIELD NOW CONTAINS A SPARK OF AWARENESS. IT WILL ONE OF YOU SO LONG AS THE CAUSE IS JUST OR THE POTENTIAL GLORY GREAT." The guardian smiles and as it does so the lion on the shield also smiles. "DO NOT LET THE ADMINISTRATOR SEE THAT. CARRY IT OUT. OUT OF THE LIBRARY AND INTO THE WORLD."

"Wait!" Tugo whispered at Decado harshly from behind the secret door, "Don't forget your illusion card!" He then drops to his hands and knees, crawls over to the chair he appears to be sitting in and removes the card. Finally, Tugo makes his way to the exit.
