Yeah, it's probably a wise idea to just delete dead targets (unless there's a possibility they might come back into the fight somehow).

I don't think we have a rogue, do we? I think Rayne and I have the highest Perception but since he is much more of a frontliner he should probably be the de facto trap searcher guy and take point. I don't remember if we established a marching order for this game either.

Okay, through the eastern door...

Deciding to leave the skeletons with their rusted and broken chainmail and rapiers, Argus takes the lead, relying on his Darkvision to help him pick his way through the bowels of the crypt. The door on the eastern wall opens easily, if creakily.

This large chamber contains a maze of pillars that obscure the far side of the room. Next to the door is a pile of empty saddlebags and three brooms.

The wailing continues, it seems to be coming from somewhere east of Argus.

Okay, explore.

Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Through his quick reflexes, Rayne is able to leap back out of harm's way. Peering over the edge into the pit, Rayne notices that the bottom of the pit trap is lined with pillows - as if intending to keep the trap from being as deadly as it normally would be.

Also, in the space just south of where he currently stands, Rayne notices a lever protruding from the ground.

Rayne is not able to determine anything in the immediate area that the lever may be connected to, but he is able to spot another trap in the space directly north of him.

The low wailing continues.

This room may take a while, and I'm not sure of the best way to run it in PbP. I think this spot would definitely be easier in a face-to-face session. I'll let you guys work things out a little longer, but let me know if you think I ought to expedite this a little.

Likewise.

I'm also willing to say, we check every square and need to make so many Reflex saves and/or other checks.

Signboy77's PFS Scenario-rama

Okay, I'm going to assume that someone gives Rayne a light source... maybe Ezren lights his sword? Or one of the broomsticks that's just sitting there?

Rayne takes it upon himself to search the maze of a room for more pit traps. By keeping a careful eye out, he's able to locate them throughout the room and springs each one using one of the broomsticks left at the entrance. Each trap opens to a 10 foot deep pit with pillows covering the bottom. (DC 15 Perception to spot the trap, so you spot them easily by taking 10)

In the bottom of the pit in the center of the chamber, Rayne spots that there is a small package. (I'll let you guys determine how to retrieve the package)

Rayne also finds two more levers, similar to the one found near the entrance to this maze of pits. Also, a locked door is on the southern wall - the wailing clearly coming from a point somewhere beyond the door.

Package at the bottom of the Pit:
In the small sack you find 6 pieces of platinum and a small note reading, "three to open, but be quick, for the door will only open for those who work together"

Peering down into the pit, Argus notes the small package. Quickly setting down his pack, he fishes out a length of rope. He hands the rope over to Rayne or anyone who happens to be there before toss the rest of the rope down the pit.

"Hold onto that please. I'll be right back."

Argus then climbs his way down, grabs the package and gives the pit one good look-over before climbing back up.

Climb Down: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Climb Up: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

After reading the note and passing it around to other Argus muses aloud.

"Could it mean that we have to flip all three switches together for the door to open? But then how long with the door stay open after that happens?"

Signboy77's PFS Scenario-rama

Argus is able to successfully retrieve the package. While in the pit, he notes that the pillows are soft enough to essentially remove any lethality of a fall into the pit.

Essentially, the pillows make the 1d6 fall damage non-lethal.

Okay, I should really get back to work. I'll let you guys think on the levers for now. I'll post again tonight.

At least they paid us for our troubles. Jerrik muses as they read the note. Perhaps Argus. We won't know how long it'll stay open until we open it however.

Signboy77's PFS Scenario-rama

Sorry for no post last night. Dealing with a sick kid, and I was just too tired to do anything.

The party figures that the three levers must be pulled simultaneously in order to open the door. Argus, Jerrik and Ezren each position themselves at a lever. Farris gives the shout to pull the levers while Rayne stands at the door. When the three levers are pulled, the door unlocks and Rayne quickly opens the door before the lock reengages.

The mournful wailing grows louder with each step toward the door at the end of this musty hallway. There are a host of bones strewn on the floor here, many of which are cracked and broken.

Please give me a strength check and a perception check.

Ezren steps forward to the door, doing his best to show the younger adventurers that crusty old wizards still have value. "I know you don't think I'm good for anything physical, but..." He shoves the door, as he does so, the wailing stops. Whoever is on the other side of the door has barricaded it, and the door is only open a few inches.

As Ezren glances wide-eyed around the others, unable to hide the surprise at his own strength, he does not hear the sound of a crossbow being loaded and fired.

Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7

The person wielding the crossbow is able to aim true, and the bolt sinks into Ezren's side. The wizard steps aside, allowing Argus a chance at the door.

Argus tries to shove the door open some more, but isn't able to move it, so he steps aside to allow Farris a chance. Farris pushes the door open some more, but for his effort, he is also greeted with a crossbow bolt through the widening gap in the doorway.

Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

However, the bolt sticks into the frame, just inches from Farris' hand.
Finally, Rayne steps up and shoves the door open, but he's able to anticipate the crossbow being fired at him. The force of Rayne's shove startles the gaunt man, and he drops his crossbow and cowers in the far corner, partially behind some barrels.

"You may have gotten my sister! But you won't get me you strange undead things!"

Farris smiles broadly (and toothily - he is a half-orc, after all) and moves up beside Ezren. The light of the sun seems to illuminate his expression, making it seem incredibly warm and friendly.

"As Ezren here explains, we're here on an adventure... of sorts. Up until this point, it seemed to have been manufactured by the townsfolk... but I get the distinct impression you may not be involved in that!"

"My name is Farris Imrian, humble servant of Sarenrae and nominal Pathfinder." He flashes his Wayfinder for Roldare to see. "This is Rayne, and Argus, and Jerrik, and Vitor." He points to each of the other men in turn for their brief introduction.

"You can trust me. A true servant of the Dawnflower would not lie." Farris reaches for his trusty bible, flicking through the pages until he discovers a line that he was searching for. "Ah, here. 'To persuade the fallen to return to the light, one must be believable. To be believable beyond a shadow of a doubt, one must be creditable. And to have one's words be creditable in the minds of the unconvinced, one must be truthful. Truth is the light that will shine the way through the darkness for even the most lost and forgotten.' From Chapter 4 of the Birth of Light and Truth."

Signboy77's PFS Scenario-rama

Roldare tenses up, drawing the dagger up a little more as the half-orc approaches. However, the poor man's countenance relaxes as Farris reads from his holy scripture. As Farris finishes with the passage, Roldare sheathes his blade with a sigh.

"Well, you can't be one o' them undead - I suppose. Oh," he leans heavily on a barrel, "it's been terrible down 'ere! Come in, shut the door! Before more o' them walkin' bones get us." Roldare insists everyone clambor in to the room with him. Glancing about, it seems to be a simple storage room, though it seems to have some useful supplies. As Roldare drags you in, you notice that there are 5 days' worth of rations, two flasks labeled 'healing', a pair of bullseye lanterns, for flasks of oil and a number of bedrolls.

"Have you any word of Dimira, my sister? The walkin' bones got her, but I know she's alive, I just know it. Oh, can't believe our bad luck..."
