It seems there is still some confusion. I have designed the puzzle a bit badly. The consequences of this fight, which could have been prevented, are none at all. This might even prove better than to avoid it. The statue would have blocked the exit of the ruins you are in if you had solved the puzzle.
The statue has been placed as a guardian for what lies beyond. The moment the puzzle is done wrong he will act upon it and attack. Since you used water instead of sand in the pots the statue got activated. My explanation might have been a bit rubbish seeing the confusion it has caused! Next time I will take this into consideration :)
Almalik Fezana |
Hey I'm computerless from this evening until Saturday so expect few if any updates after this afternoon - I can do some stuff from Wayfinder but may need people to move ALmalik onto other kinds of furniture.
Ama |
@GM: I'll try to crit more often! :P
@Almalik: Ama's humanoid with the subtypes fey and shapechanger, but one of her abilities makes her look like an elf.
of a specific Small or Medium humanoid. The
majority of First folk choose an elf seeming, but any
humanoid form can be chosen. The appearance of this
form is chosen at character creation and cannot be
changed. This is a polymorph effect that only changes
physical appearance and does not modify ability
scores or confer any abilities. The caster level for this
ability is equal to the first folk’s character level. This
ability has an effective spell level of 1st.
The only one who's ever gotten a hint about Ama's true race was Nagbur, when he probed into Ama's mind. Though the entity with thousand eyes, that stared at Nagbur while he made a link with Ama for the first time, could be explained a thousand ways in Pathfinder.

My medicine stopped working half through the day... Feeling like **** right now. Will pospone a little bit more. Tomorrow we continue!

Has been busy for a lot of people I think. Once in a while you just have days/weeks where the posting is minimal. I have the feeling this is one of those days/weeks.
Next week will be better again! (I hope)
GM Dinuci |
We are slowly getting to the conclusion of this game. You may go ahead and choose your next mission. This so I can prepare the game :)
The ones left on the list to pick from are:
- Temple exploration
- Road building
There is a third one in the pipeline but I have to work it out a bit more. I will most likely do a test run soon.
Ama |
Unless the others somehow can't come to a decision, I won't choose. The reason's the same as before: I already have someone knowledge about the games we may choose from.
GM Dinuci |
Oke! :) Road building it is then. Will be a huge change compared to this one ^^ a lot less combat intensive.
GM Dinuci |
Didn't see the last one coming! I would gladly incorporate that plot twist into the story ^^
Ama |
Would be cool to have them around! And as time passes, maybe they'll also be able to play a role in some of the missions. Or they could assume other roles.
Nagbur Damnstink |
GM, I dunno how long you're planning to keep this reality running, but if we're gonna start collecting kids and minions we may need to consider jointly renting/building a place somewhere. The guildhouse will only accommodate so many, and Vaara might get tired of having teens underfoot. :o)
GM Dinuci |
There are a lot of jobs and rooms available! :) We could always expand the guild or move ^^
Ama |
Who's holding the spear? Maybe someone who's not able to dish out a lot of damage should have it, to drastically increase our damage output.
GM Dinuci |
I'm really busy with exams and moving right now! So I will not bot right now.
@Almalik I believe you missed the notifications again!
Ama |
I'd really like to know if either Nagbur or Almalik has taken the spear, as I meant to suggest. Else Fish or I could use it.
Nagbur Damnstink |
I get (and agree with) the thinking about a low-DPS PC having the spear. But neither of us are front-line folks, so getting mixed up in melee's pretty risky. And if it comes down to "self defense" when we're individually attacked, then the group's not getting much benefit from the spear.
Nagbur has a few damage-dealing touch attacks he can use if things get up close and personal. Almalik, how about you in that regard? If you don't have much "hand to hand magic" then maybe the spear would be good for you?
Bottom line, Stinky's willing to take it, the player's just not sure it's the safest strategy. If the buffer/healer goes down...
Almalik Fezana |
Apologies, I should have responded to this. Almalik would refuse the spear, he's not going toe-to-toe with anything. So uh, who has it? We've got cubis tos tab. I vote Fish since he's the default frontliner unless stated otherwise.
Ama |
I'm fine with Fish holding it. He'll have to drop the shield though. Or maybe he can toss the shield to Nagbur or Almalik.
GM Dinuci |
Congratulations! You finished the second scenario ^^
I made a big mistake considering the Cubis, which works out in your favor. The Cubis are kind of high level, and hard as you might have noticed, and give a lot of experience. Meaning you are ready for another level up!
Congratulations! You reached level 3 ^^

Bad moment to rage xD just before you receive the special reward! Didn't let it affect the story, only that the villagers are a bit grumpy now :P
Ama |
Question about the rune of healing.
"Rune of healing: Once per day as a swift action you may cast cure moderate wounds, healing 2d8 points of damage."
Normally cure moderate wounds heals 2d8 points of damage + 1 point per caster level (maximum +10). That last bit's not included? (Ama doesn't have a CL, but normally spell-like abilities take the character's level instead of CL.)
Almalik Fezana |
Hey, Almalik has pride and a temper. It'd be a disservice to my character concept for him to be all cool about the village deciding he should die.
Nagbur Damnstink |
Bad moment to rage xD just before you receive the special reward! Didn't let it affect the story, only that the villagers are a bit grumpy now :P
That's okay, Nagbur hasn't had his say yet. :op He'll show Almalik how it's done. (I think those two are gonna bond a little over this incident.)
And those "grumpy" villagers need to lose their attitudes and learn a little compassion and common sense. So, there!
(By the way, sorry about my spotty/laggy posting of late... crunch time at work and Friday was my boss's last day there before retirement -- he's the guru on the system I'm inheriting, so there was a weeks-long massive "brain dump" happening on top of everything else. Things are coming back to normal now.)
Ama |
Ama's not the brightest, but she's got a plan here: first get the rune, then ask for a compensation in gold as well, then tell the man's he's a prick :P
GM Dinuci |
The gold reward is from the Merchant who gave you the mission, in the starting village. The elder doesn't have money to give you.
Nagbur Damnstink |
Sadly, there are probably innocents among them. Women and children, animals and so on. And there were murmurs of doubt and weak protest when the gate was barred against us. So I think there are some good folks here too, they're just not in power.
If it weren't for them, though, this mission could've stayed on the guildhall board 'til it crumbled to dust. :op
GM Dinuci |
If you think the last post is moving things along too fast please say so! Otherwise if you finish up here I will move things along towards the return to the guild.

Level 3: +1 level Vitalist
STATS
HP 14->20 (+4 Lvl, +2 Con)
PP 14->22 (+5 Lvl, +2 Wis, +1 FC)
Ref 1->2
SKILLS
Sense Motive +1 SR, +8
Survival +1 SR, +8
SPECIAL ABILITIES
Lingering Pain (Su) - Any time the sadist inflicts hit point damage on a creature and the sadist is maintaining psionic focus, it also causes bleed damage equal to half the sadist's level unless the target makes a successful Fortitude save (DC 10 + 1/2 the sadist's class level + the sadist's Wisdom modifier).
Unwilling Participant (L3 Feat) - You may attempt to force a living creature into your collective as a standard action. The target may attempt a Will save (DC 10 + half manifester level level + Wisdom modifier) to resist.
(No L2 Power learned; Sadist archetype substitutes Lingering Pain.)
Nagbur Damnstink |
Sorry, I was double-checking these against the archetype lock-outs (something's wonky in the Hero Lab Psionics module) and the edit window closed before I could get them added.
Steal Health (Su) - At 3rd level, a vitalist has learned to siphon the health of a creature and use it for his own needs or the needs of his collective. As a touch attack, the vitalist may deal a number of hit points in damage to the target equal to his vitalist level + his Wisdom modifier and heal an equal amount of damage.
Telepathy (Su) - When a vitalist reaches 3rd level, all willing members of his collective (including the vitalist himself) can communicate with each other telepathically, even if they do not share a common language.
Nagbur Damnstink |
It comes in really handy at times.
Stinky's saving up for some pricey stuff, but now that we've been paid he's sold off his leather armor and upgraded to Lamellar. AC 16 now (still lagging behind all you guys).
