As regards the CLW wand: We can never have too much healing! That said, Stinky already has two of them, so maybe somebody else should carry this one?
He also has a +2 Wis headband. Adding +2 Cha would only bring him to 10 and that's hardly worth the effort. :o) Almalik, what's your key attribute for magic, can you use it?
Almalik Fezana |
Intelligence for ALmalik, and he already has a headband to that effect. Charisma is a secondary stat with some serious uses, but if I'm gonna pick one, it's gotta be int. Let's get the +2 cloak of resistance on a frontliner in case someone has a crappy reflex or will save.
Ama |
Idris was the only frontliner to express interest in the cloak, so I figure it goes to him then.
Nagbur, I think you're the only one who can use the wands of CLW.
GM Dinuci |
- cloak of resistance +2 Idris
- wand of cure light wounds (50 charges) Nagbur
Total sale value without above items: 26669,25
There is still another +2 cloak of resistance with a value of 4000gp and 75% sell value.
- cloak of resistance +2, Idris
- headband of mental prowess (Wis, Cha) +2, 10000gp
- masterwork quarterstaff, 150gp
- restorative ointment, 4000gp
- wand of cure light wounds (50 charges) Nagbur
- - +1 full plate with cold iron armor spikes, 2600gp
- +1 flaming glaive, 8308gp
- composite longbow (+4 Str) with 20 arrows, 501gp
- belt of giant strength +2, 4000gp
- cloak of resistance +2, 4000gp
- ring of protection +1, 2000gp
Almalik Fezana |
Almalik will claim the second cloak of resistance, and sell his original one at 75% for 750 gold.
So sale value WITH Almalik's cloak is...
27419.25
Divided by six...
4569.875 per person.
We good?
Nagbur Damnstink |
Stinky has a self-bought +1 Ring of Resistance, and since he's not a frontliner I think the +2 is worth more to someone like Almalik than the extra +1 Stinky'd get by trading up.
Yeah, I'm good. I'll add the third CLW wand. Man, talk about being well-equipped, haha!
Almalik Fezana |
Shopping trip!:

- scroll of phantom steed (375)
- scroll of sleet storm (375)

(taking 10 on spellcraft to add to spellbook)
Spent: 6000
Remaining: 723.075

A +2 enhancement is possible, since you are now level 6. You may pay her any amount you would like for it, the money will go into the guild.
I'll give her 2k for the +2. Can she also do the adaptive enhancement for me, considering a +1000gp enhancement is easier to do than +2? If so, I'll give her 3k total for +2 and adaptive. Else I'll have adaptive added somewhere else for 1k, if that's alright.
I by the way paid the full 6k last time, when I upgraded my nodachi from +1 to +1 keen. I assume that the girl also did that for me, so I've got quite a contribution to the guild already! Curious to see what it'll be used for! :)
(And the one with the highest contribution gets the most stocks, righty?)
GM Dinuci |
Maximum of 2 enchants per day for all the guildies. Since she is able to do it for free I want to leave it at that for the moment.

I'll just get the +2 on my bow then, and will pay 2k for it! :)
Adaptive isn't that useful yet, so I'll safe that for later. I'd rather have the girl do the enhancement, 'cause it's cheaper and I can donate some money to the guild instead of spending it elsewhere.
Not buying anything else, for now!

Dear people, the end of the semester's approaching and I want to focus fully on the assignments I still have to complete. Therefor I won't be making any posts on this forum till Friday. I look forward to continuing our adventure then! Please bot me in my absence.

Welcome back! How'd it go?
Sorry gang, last week hit me broadside and without warning. Working on catching back up now.

Welcome back! How'd it go?
I don't have the results yet, but I think I did reasonably well!
GM Dinuci |
I've hit a real boatload of creatures today and a small gem. I have enough fun and original creatures for a couple of scenarios now. Beside that I found a sheet about running a business. A short rundown is that you may run a business in downtime between scenarios. With the business you can earn extra money, or lose if you are really bad at it. On top of that people, depending on the kind of business, will treat you differently. It may be like a lord or a shady dealer or anything in between.
Does this sound interesting to implement into the story? In one of the scenarios you will be able to get your hands on some extra property, I could introduce this in that scenario.

I like it a lot! :)
I will be managing my queendom, for profit!
GM Dinuci |
It's only a single roll for a week and the buying of the property. Although some RP about the whole thing might be fun in downtime!
Axe 'Axe' Axe |
Arguably, I can't see Axe in that kind of role. At most, he'd be some sort of day laborer, perhaps stock-Axe. My backup PC if Axe ever does bite the bullet (or more than likely, I get bored of Axe with the GM's permission), then that PC would likely be interested.
GM Dinuci |
The available businesses are:
- Farm, market stand
- Large farm, large market stand
- Massive farm, small shop, tiny stage, tiny inn
- Multiple farms, shop, stage, inn
- Local farm monopoly, massive shop, massive stage, massive inn
- Multiple shops, multiple stages, multiple inns
- Local shop monopoly, local stage monopoly, local inn monopoly
- shop monopoly, stage monopoly, inn monopoly
With prices going from 160gp to 100.000gp in construction.
Almalik Fezana |
I can see Almalik doing that kind of work if the rest of the gruop is involved. He's likely run something like a school, magic shop, or library.

Also: Noted, re: not posting for a week without notice, which I just got to read in the game thread. A few things have spuriously come up that briefly but totally screw with my schedule. (We just finally got a replacement supervisor after over a year and he started last week, so things were a little nuts at work, and it flowed over into personal time -- I was supposed to have today off, but wound up working because of a meeting with our director.)
When that happens (unanticipated and expected short-term), I tend not to say anything for hope I can get a post in... and then the days slip by.
From now on, as soon as it appears there's going to be a disturbance, I'll post a warning. And two of my games are about to end, so that should help free up some time. But if you feel the need to replace Stinky, I'll understand. A post a week wasn't what I agreed to when I joined either!
GM Dinuci |
It isn't that I want you gone as a player. I really like the way you play Nagbur. I just want to keep the game going. When it starts to stall again I just get really annoyed. I put a lot of time in it and I get a lot of joy out of it, but when it slows down again without an apparent reason it just rubs. I understand that for most people once a day is a bit much at times, but a round per two days should be possible. Otherwise the whole reason I keep the scenario's short might as well be for naught. I want to keep the game exciting by changing things around every so often but currently everything goes at such a low pace that it's not possible. When I try to speed things up by giving hints or skipping things the posting rate just drags it down again.
Idris Elbow |
I will be traveling from Sunday through Friday this week. I will have internet access in the early morning and late evening, so I should be able to post daily, bu if you need to move on, please DMPC me.

GM Dinuci |
Don't forget that you guys are like monster trucks in a mariokart game... A single redcap, although very mean, is no real threat to you ;)
Nagbur Damnstink |
I've only had the one experience I can go by... I'm trying to recall the exact game but I believe it was a team of Pathfinders around this group's level. And it was a pretty long and bloody fight.
My biggest concern is burning through all our juice fighting minions and being drained when we meet Mr. Big Bad. :o/ That makes every prior melee potentially tougher, if we're trying to conserve resources.
But, we'll handle it!
GM Dinuci |
That is very much true. And I enjoy you struggling to find the right path on what to spend and what not ;P The last battle is getting closer and closer!
I might have been going at it the wrong way for some time now. Till now I throw a few trash mobs against you and then BOOM the boss. I think it's better to use a lot more less trashy mobs and then BOOM. Up to now it seems a lot more challenging.
Nagbur Damnstink |
More challenging? Have I not mentioned how often it feels like we're mid-TPK? :op
Though I admit, that hasn't happened as much lately... OTOH you don't really expect certain death from helping a friend move, etc. ;o)

GM Dinuci |
Living on the edge!
There have been a few near death moments but lately not so much indeed. Not having the possibility of death would make a game very very boring. A nice break once in a while is good but there must be a challenge in the game!
I've got two more games in the making by the way. We have enough games currently to get to level 10. There are a few more ideas going on in my head but those are still just ideas.
Ama |
I can't recall ever feeling like this entire party would die. It's just that we're not having constant cakewalks, like I've grown accustomed to in most games. Personally, I think the encounters are nicely balanced for this (rather OP) party. As long as we don't do stupid things, or have massive bad luck with the dice, we'll likely survive! :P
And yay for nearly reaching level 10! :D
(PS: I just jinxed it.)
Fish Silverscale |
Nagbar, I think you are referring to Tuich's encounter with the redcap in that module Ama ran for our other group before we started Carrion Hill.
Nagbur Damnstink |
Ah, that was the one! As I recall we didn't make much if any progress until someone "remembered" the trick.
And Ama, maybe you never felt like we were going to TPK, but you weren't the undersized healer desperately trying to keep everyone patched together! I definitely remember a case where one of us was down, others were very low on HP, we were pretty much out of magic juice and with baddies still in the chase. And that was in the mine which was our very first encounter arc!
Granted we've had some easier ones, but there have been a significant number where I believe we came close to buying the farm. Don't get me wrong, I like the rush of balancing on the ragged edge. But those near-misses have taught me to be more cautious about burning through Stinky's power.
Rats, I was looking forward to L10. Won't get there now, Miss Minxy Jinxy! :op
Axe 'Axe' Axe |
I know what these are from tossing them in a game I've run; I had a player actually know what they are from historical lore versus game stuff and
Alas.
GM Dinuci |
Aaaand... It's dead... That was the strongest redcap on my list... I'll have to revise the boss battle now... ;P
