Riggar |
Riggar looks at Bartleby and gives him a sturdy handshake. Looks like I got some competition, any of the others coming? The old town just seemed to dry up overnight. Hopefully we have better luck here
After exchanging pleasantries, Riggar will set up his anvil and makeshift work station. He then turns to the various passerbyes and townsfolk, I am a second generation smith, I have lived in or near the forge all my life. I specialize in making any sort of armor you can imagine, including that from special materials. I can also turn out fine quality weapons as well. Stop by, take a look...my craftsmanship will speak for itself!
So, I can make any masterwork armor, and any masterwork weapon you could think of. I will also give discounts and deals to PCs, so as not to price gouge. I usually make it for 60-80% of fair market value. I still make profit, and you don't pay full price :)

I feel like an Orc for asking this, but what exactly are those miss. Never heard of 'em
After she describes them and explains them to him.
Okay, I could make those for ya. It'll cost ya 150 gold piece? I think I should have them done in about six to seven week would be a conservative time frame. Perhaps earlier if I get in a good groove. Sound acceptable? as he extends his hand to hopefully confirm the deal.
Kit'Arr |
She thinks for a bit then gives him a toothy grin
"Deal. As soon as i have the gold to pay for it, im still very new to all this adventuring business" she laughs mirthfully

Janji |
Janji sticks his head up out of a nearby barrel. "Did someone say 'free stuff'? Because I'm very martially inclined, and very poor. Do you think you could spare a whip?"
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Her eyes light up
"Deal, 250gp"
She happily hands over the gold
"So? How much if i wish to get a mithral chain shirt?" she asked grinning "That is what i am saving up for next!"
Riggar |
Your the third or forth person to request that. Well, it'll run ya 700 gold piece and take 'bout four months to hammer out. Hope that helps ya budget yer funds little lady
Riggar takes his usual half-down payment and begins working on the weapons for the lady. He smelts the steel the pounds it out, taking caution to ensure the blades are sharp to his clients liking. After 3 months, both are done and he accepts the remaining balance of the bill.
Here ye go, hopes they're to your liking
Cost of mats: 200, so profit = 50gp
Kale "Seascum" |
Kale approaches Riggar's store. Mister Riggar, would you be able to make me a Mithral Breastplate? I know you are a busy dwarf--please don't take offense if I ask Master Bartleby to do it if your queue is too full.
After getting a response, he'll also ask Do we have a bowyer in the vicinity? I am considering a bow.
Riggar |
4000 (mithril) + 200 (armor) = 4200/3=1400 mast cost
Hmm, Mithril Breastplate huh. Well, considering it is gonna take more mithril to be able to make such an armor. I could do it for 3000gp. And the time it would take me to craft it would be around 17 months to complete. That is me putting some extra effort behind it as well, but not taking any chances to mess up either.
AS far as a bowyer goes, I was never interested in making them. I am unsure if I have seen such a man or woman here to make them. f you look around, you make hopefully find someone. If not, I can try my hand at it, but I don't guarantee I will be any good at it.
I knew we had someone in the other thread, but I don't remember if they transferred over. I could try my hand at it, but I am not specialized. I would be rolling with only a +7 (aka. basic bows, basic composite longbows or a +1 strength rating comp longbow)

A small blue scaled kobold strolls through the market place examining a trinket here and a bauble there.
He remarks to himself several times; "हाँ, हाँ, यह अच्छी तरह से करेंगे."
Just dotting as I finish up my character.
Kala Krunn |
So I think I'm in? Also is everyone still at their stations?
Not far behind the kobold, a large woman enters the marketplace much more apprehensively. Although Kala's travels had already introduced her to urban life, it hadn't made enduring the hustle and bustle much easier. She steps carefully around the various stalls, trying not to bump into anyone as she looks to see what each stall sells.
The first stall that grabs Kala's attention is one run by a drow. Upon noticing that the stall is called "Rifiki's Emporium of Magic", she hesitates for a moment and uneasily turns away. The second stall she spots is a cart belonging to a halfling. She pauses to read the sign detailing the services the stall offers. The armour isn't particularly enticing and the mention of magical items and scrolls prompts Kala to look elsewhere.
"Magic this, magic that," Kala mutters under her breath, starting to panic. "Is Kala in wrong place at wrong time?" Her question came out a little louder than intended.
Soon, Kala finds another stall, this one manned by a dwarf. The dwarf appears to be busy with another man so Kala nervously stands back from the stall and tries to determine via observation what exactly the dwarf sells.
Kala hopes this is not another magic shop.
Riggar |
Everyone is still at their stalls. We go with the theory "whatever you purchase from a fellow PC is done between adventures". This way you aren't waiting for a game to conclude before buying
After finishing up with Kale, he looks up to see a new face, How do ya do lass, you be interested in any o me fine wares. I specialize in melee weapons and armor
Kala Krunn |
At the mention of weapons, Kala's eyes light up and she hastily approaches the dwarf's shop.
"Hail!" she says enthusiastically. "I am always needing weapons!" She then pauses to think which weapons she needs.
"First," Kala says as she retrieves her earth breaker, "I need big hammer like this one, but made from silver. I hear silver hurts lie-can-frrropes. Second," she continues as she returns her earth breaker to its slot, "I need ... ah, what is it called? It has long wood handle and metal blade shaped like moon. I need one with blade made from cold iron in case spirits of forest are hostile. Third, I need new hunting bow." Kala suddenly remembers that the dwarf specifically said melee weapons. "Oh, never mind. I make my own hunting bow."
In case you didn't understand any of that, Kala wants a silver earth breaker and a cold iron bardiche. She also wants a composite longbow but can make that herself ... eventually. With the gold she currently has, she could probably only afford the bardiche right now.

Ya bet I could make you that cold iron weapon. Does it look like this, as he produces a sketch of the weapon.
He thinks for a moment then looks at her, It will be 17 gold coins and 5 silver miss. Is that acceptable for ya.
Presuming its agreed upon, he will take his usual 50% down, and get to work. He collects enough raw materials to make a cold iron bardiche. He works with precision and care, and after a weeks time he is finished. He puts his makers mark near the base of the blade, and marvels slightly at his craftsmanship.
Kala Krunn |
Kala takes a look at the dwarf's sketch. "Ya, that is weapon I need," she says in response to his question.
When Kala hears the price, she checks her money pouch. A frown appears on her face. "Hm, your price is good but I do not have silver coin, only gold coin," she informs the dwarf as she starts counting out gold pieces.
Does being done in a week mean that Kala would have the weapon in time for the next adventure? I think I saw something about 4 weeks in the downtime rules but I'm not sure if that was just referring to Craft checks.

The way "downtime" craft works is: when someone starts a scenario, anyone who has ranks in craft/profession can roll 4 times, and earn 1/2 the total in GP for when the adventure takes place. (Example: CaveToad started a game so I could roll my craft 4 times, or I usually take 10=26*4=104/2=52 in gp I can add to my funds...make sense?
All the week is for flavor. Everything you commission or but will be available for the next game you get into.
17 gold pieces works for me, I won't worry bout the silver. I will see you in a week as he gives a hearty handshake to the newcomer.
Rifiki |
Everyone, gather round!, says a well dressed Drow, making sure all are gathered in front his his storefront.
Thank you all for making my shop a dream come true. As such, I would like to give back. I cleaned out my stockroom and found a few hidden gems so to speak. They are nit something I envision selling, so I want to give them away. I am holding a raffle, all you have to do is pick the winning number. There will be two prizes: a necklace of fireballs, type I, with (2) 2d6 nodes and a Robe of Needle
So, who wants to get in on the raffle?
So here is the way it works: PCs can select a number from 1-10, one all numbers are chosen or some time has gone by, I will roll 2d10 to determine winners. Winner #1 gets first pick, and winner #2 gets what's left. Simple no :)
Kala Krunn |
Kala does not feel good with magic. But maybe Kala can sell dark man's magic? But Kala does not know how many gold coins is price for dark man's magic.
While Kala is thinking, three others have taken some of the numbers. This causes her to get caught up in the rush and blurt out a number without thinking.
The number Kala picks in the rush: 1d10 ⇒ 4
"Four!"
When Kala walks away, she says to herself "What has Kala done?"
Rifiki |
Its been a week with no other numbers picked. So I am gonna call it here and pick the winners
So, no one else want in...then let's get down to see who the lucky winners are shall we.
He grabs a fine looking fedora, and he drops some pebbles in the hat. He twirls the hat around to mix them up. He chooses a beautiful girl from the crowd to select two stones, so as there is no threat of cheating. She picks the stones, and gives them to Rifiki.
10d10 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 7, 1, 7, 8, 9, 9, 5) = 59
So, it looks like the first winner is the short gentleman who chose five. The runner-up is the fiery gentleman who chose seven. Congratulations to the winners, and don't forget to stop by my shop sometime
Bartleby is first and Janji is second :)
Kala Krunn |
Kala returns to the marketplace now a bit richer from her mission. In particular, she has obtained a small supply of adamantine and has plans for using it to make some arrows.
If Kala wants to make arrows from strong stuff Kala cannot say name of, Kala needs better tools.
She browses the shops for some masterwork artisan's tools and soon finds a stall where she can trade in her old ones (and some gold) for some newer ones.
Now where can Kala go to make arrows? Maybe Kala should get tent?
It takes a while for her to find a shop that sells tents. When she finally finds one, she learns that they've run out of small tents, so she purchases a medium one instead.
Then Kala gets an idea. An awful idea. She gets a wonderful, awful idea. Actually, it's not that awful.
If Kala puts up tent in market, maybe Kala can make hunting bows and sell them for gold coins.
So she erects the tent in an area of the marketplace that's quiet enough that setting up a new shop would be possible but not so quiet that nobody comes.
But first, Kala must make strong arrows.
Before opening Kala's Hunting Bow Shop, Kala gathers the required materials for arrow making and begins making some adamantine arrows.
Now to work out the logistics of making a couple of adamantine arrows.
Kale "Seascum" |
Can you craft Magic Arms and Armor? Maybe you could help me make my +1 Mithral Breastplate.
-Posted with Wayfinder
Kala Krunn |
Although Kala would have no trouble making a standard arrow, she just cannot seem to shape the adamantine chunks at all, so she throws said adamantine chunks onto the floor in a fit of frustration.
Maybe Kala should come back to these arrows later. Or maybe Kala should take strong metal to better arrow maker. For now, Kala makes hunting bows.
And so, using her tools and some loose pieces of wood, Kala erects a sign with a crude drawing of a longbow on it next to her tent's entrance, figuring that folks might get the hint that she can make bows in exchange for gold.
Kala then wanders through the marketplace to see if anything particularly useful is being sold. At one point she arrives at a shop selling various construction materials. She hands over a gold piece in exchange for some hemp rope and, satisfied with her purchase, returns to her new shop.
Not long after returning, Kala gets her first customer: a stout, short-haired man with a tattoo on his forehead. The man's demeanour suggests that he wants to get straight down to business.
"Yes," Kala replies tersely, "I make hunting bows. I sell them for gold coins."
