Having quickly dispatched another of the daemon facsimile Kael shielded himself from the sudden blast as the remaining creatures suddenly released explosions.

The blast set him forth to try and end this quickly as they seemed to grow increasingly more annoying. He positioned himself opposite of Tassadar and struck at the one Light deemed appropriate to shoot.

Using his Keen Intellect Kael figured out the best way he could prevent the explosion from rattling him.

Ziggit and Light utterly destroy the cacodaemon with ease. Causing bits and pieces of shredded paper to go flying across the room.

Goldwill tries to haymaker the last cacodaemon.

Brass Knucks: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Damage: 1d3 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

With one more solid thump. The cacodaemon shreds as it goes flying across the room before it tumbles to a stop and lays motionless on the cold cave floor.

You all hear the familiar voice in your minds once more.
"Well four loud noises instead of three... hmm. Not on my game today... Oh well, you still hav-"

From far off in the cave a sudden low screeching roar that sends shivers down your spine echos across the cave walls. Another roar, closer this time. Almost rattling the very tracks you have been following.

"Them... you still have them... hmm it appears I "accidentally" woke up the other inhabitants of this mine... well... have fun with that!"
The voice then silences once again.

Looking at the gray stone that was not bitten by the cacodaemon. I becomes obvious that it is a Thunderstone. Goldwill motions you all to follow him as he grits his teeth.

He then followed closely to Goodwill keeping a keen eye and ear on the situation.

Then Kael went through the accumulated knowledge of his experiences to better grasp what those screeches might have corresponded to.

Kael thinks long and hard about what the creatures that made the roar were. The best he can summarize is that the creature isn't an animal, but a magical beast of some description. Very large and very dangerous.

Light nods to Kael, catching and swiftly placing the Thunderstone in a pouch on her person. "This could come in handy, though I wonder what beast that roar came from... seems there are more and more questions for every answer..." Falling back into what was essentially a line, Light would bring up the rear in hopes that by doing so a sneak attack would be foiled by her keen perceptive skills.

Tassadar eyes the walls. What's the check to get up them, also celling height. A little judicious cheating would let me get 19 climb check on a take 10 - yes, I can take 10 on climb checks.

As the group advances down the tunnels, Mordrin moves among them, addressing their wounds with his wand, beginning with Ziggit, whose wounds appear to be the most grave after his earlier healing.

"Thank you for the healing, I should be fine now... Well let's see, this mine has other levels, but in my dreams I never traversed the 2nd or 3rd level. It's strange... I feel like I'm missing something important and I can't think of what it is."

You continue to walk a few more paces and the path splits. One going north, the other continuing west. Goldwill grasps his handaxe quickly, as a familiar voice, this time coming directly west of you breaks the silence. "Well I guess it's about to time for you to see me with your own eyes."

A tall, elegantly robed figure steps forth from the shadows and into the light. Though its face still remains obscured seemingly by a magical shadow veil with only pin points of light for his eyes. What can be made out is clearly not humanoid. Two tentacles from each sleeve dance about its edge. Grayish green in color. One set of tentacles is holding a bluish red crystal. The robe itself is grey, but highly styalized with red and gold accents. A beautiful golden amulet can be seen hanging from around the outside of the hooded robe figures neck and stretches down below what you can assume is his midsection. What little you can see of his feet take you aback with there appearance. Almost bird like in design.

Kael:
You can hear the sound of rustling paper as the creature walks.

"Good day everyone! I'm glad my little minions didn't eat you up, well mostly anyway. You may call me Malik. If it so pleases you."

Goldwill Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Goldwill suddenly charges and attacks Malik. But he was apparently ready for it and waves his tentacles of his free arm and Goldwill's body suddenly locks up and tumbles to the floor unmoving at the creatures feet. Malik places one of his bird like feet on top of Goldwill's head and brings the crystal up to his mouth and eats it. It shatters as if made of hollow sugar candy and sparkles before fading out of existence. "Goldwill, you rash boy... I only wanted to talk with your newest friends."

Even though you cannot see his face. It's easy to tell Malik is smirking. Seeming to enjoy the sensation of Goldwill clutched in between his talons. Drawing a little blood in the process. Malik's disposition is that of someone in complete control and exudes a overwhelming confidence.

"So... any questions thus far?" Malik says coyly.

Goldwill's tumble causes the barrel of seawater he was carrying on his back to bursts open slightly. Causing its contents to spill out underneath Malik. You see his body raise slightly as if it floated on top of what little water there is before the water absorbs into the ground. Three long green tongues can be seen licking the air underneath Malik's hood.

Light's sudden blast from her gun connects to Malik's head. A huge shower of shredded paper covers the cave behind Malik's body. Now headless, the body lurches forward as if it would fall... But it doesn't. "Even my preparation for you specific weapon wasn't enough... Hmm... Impressive."

Malik's head seems to just grow out of his body in the form of white paper and as it completely forms, turns to the proper color it once was. "So can we talk now?"

Mordrin remains silent, eyeing Malik suspiciously, though his train of thought is interrupted by the unexpected crack of Light's musket. Finding his knowledge completely useless for the moment, he readies the symbol of his divine powers in his hand, ready to wield what strength was available to him against this strange being.


Mordrin assumes the tongue thing was simply something the creature does.

"I could have killed you all individually or even now when your together. But then I would have to wait for another group to get brazen enough to show some competence and fight my minions... again..."

Malik looks down at Goldwill. His body relaxes and is able to move freely again, though he stays laying down underneath the taloned toes of Malik. "Good boy..." Malik says with arrogance towards Goldwill.

"You see, I've been looking for a particular strong group of individuals that aren't afraid to defy the laws of the land to come and be of an assistance to a powerful daemon such as myself. And you seem capable enough to handle what I require. So, interested?"

"Complimenting us isn't going to give us reason to help you," Light begins while looking to Kael and Mordrin specifically. "While we could argue a million reasons why to, or why not to help you, I doubt after a shot like that anyone should be capable of standing so healthily... Get to your point, brazen or not, don't think any of us really care about your life anymore than you do of ours. So I ask this of you, you want to die,... how do we kill you? What is in it for us if we help you?" Light takes a deep breath thinking to herself and once more looking for any sudden changes in the current situation. "My point is that we need more information, I don't very well like walking into a deal blindly."

"Nor will I without good enough reason..."


"And yet you walked into this situation blindly... Anyways, lets talk about me... Due to my Daemon physiology and the devil fruit I ate... well... It wasn't a good combination. And when my body would die and be sent back to my home plane, I get anchored and just reform instead, as you just witnessed. I've devised a ritual after many years to transform myself into a creature that can be killed and sent back. I've simply have needed a group powerful enough to kill the form in under one minute as I have no control of myself in that state."

He floats towards Kael, leaving Goldwill behind on the ground and passed Tassadar. "Yes, your group seems much more capable than the last Goldwill brought."

"Wha- What do you mean?" Goldwill stammers, getting to his feet.

"Oh nothing Goldwill, nothing at all. And as for your question Light, your life, seems like an adequate compensation hmm? I'll need a still living body, a large one... I believe you can find one or two in this cave. Also roughly 20lbs of silver. Bring it just past the veil of water and I will begin the ritual."

"Oh gee willikers, I've never thought of that, I mean it's just so obvious. Here let me get a rock!" He reaches down and grabs a rock about the size of a human hand with his tentacle. His tentacle crinkles as he grasps it. He attempts to lift the rock but his whole tentacle rips off. And then grows from his body again in mere seconds.

"Oh silly me, let me get a smaller one." He reaches for a rock the size of your average grape. This time he lifts it for a few seconds before it falls from his grasp with a tiny confetti shower.

"Perhaps if you hold me in the water... here grab onto me..." He extends a tentacle arm towards you.

Kael gripped his blade. " You also hold no reason why we should assist you when your promise of returning Goodwill's love is likely false, nor do we know the well-being of the halfings. "

" But if you truly wish to be rid of your predicament It could have been solved quickly, when Goodwill rushed at you. I can show you an easy way, I'm just not inclined to believe your ritual is the way. "

"I suspect that he has attempted what we might call an 'easy way,' Kael. What other reason is there for this very discussion? Clearly if he did not need outside assistance in the completion of the ritual, he would have performed it on his own. He mentioned that, during the ritual, he would lose his self-control, which I suspect means he would be unable to command the ogres to destroy his other form."

Mordrin adjusts the glasses over his eyes and examines the strange being before him. The lenses clearly show that the life energy is present within the being, but it is somehow twisted in on itself, unable to escape the strange glyphs written upon the papery body.

"I do not trust this being, either, Kael, for I am no fool. Yet if performing this ritual and destroying the being created from it is the only way to end the decades of terror that have been visited upon this island, then I say we do it. Before we go forward with anything, however, we need to see the captives you have taken throughout the years, so that we can be assured of their safety when you are gone, Malik."

"You are very astute my four-eyed acquaintance, however... If you want to see the townsfolk I've acquired you will have to do a bit of swimming. And there is no exit from the room other than back through the water... another challenge by me, for you! Seeing as how I'm skipping the rest of my worthiness challenges based on this ones capabilities." Malik nods towards Light.

"All the pieces are in place except for the large living body and the 20lbs of silver." Malik points all around him in a sweeping motion. "Look at that, multiple directions. I'm so generous!" Malik floats away from the group.

"Funny you should mention age... Hehehe, Regardless, I'll see you in a few! Toodles!" And then suddenly; BAMF!!!

With a loud whoosh of air, Malik disappears. Leaving nothing behind but a cloud of red smoke and the smell of blood.

Ziggit sat quietly listening to the daemon and others talk amongst themselves, when the daemon finally vanishes he gives a very apathetic, "Meh."

"Ain't collapsin' this here mine pretty much same as killin' 'em? Ceptin' den he doesn't get ta scurry back ta 'is home plane."

"Eh. Either way I don't much gives a damn."

"Though, I ain't thinkin' he's being level wit us. If'n Goodill here has beens here bafore, and you wants ta die, den why erase 'is memory?"

"Shirley you'd want him ta remember so's he can bring folks downs here ta finish you off."

"And why all the games den evens now wit us?"

Ziggit shrugs, "Maybe he's just stupid. But it ain't likely."

"Dis whole thing isn't on tha narrow, like."

"My guess is that the game has been played long enough to have made the mayor give up,... that or just short of him going insane. Which is most likely why he erased his memories based on what we were told... This very well might be and probably is a sham but if we don't do something more will die."

Goldwill stands there, flabbergasted by the thought of having brought multiple people to there doom inside this mine and not even being able to remember their faces. He slowly walks to a nearby wall and sits. His head in his hands. Streams of tears begin to pour through his fingers. He takes a few sharp intakes of air here and there and silently sobs. Finally through a rattled voice he speaks.

"W-what h-have I done?... I've k-k-killed so many people... all for my own selfish d-desire?... Why?... Why must I be the one to hold this burden? I don't w-want to do this again... No... I won't do this again! No! I'll m-make sure of it! I'll finally be free..."

Goldwill picks up and stares at his handaxe as he speaks. Running his thumb up and down the blade. A small amount of blood trickles from his appendage down the axe head to the wooden handle. Mixing with the blood that had long since dried on the backside of the blade. He then slowly raises the blade towards his throat.

" There is also the fact I do not plan on dying nor finishing this task half-way. I rather our guide make this a success so that no one else need get hurt again. "
