DM Bloodgargler |
The male dwarf said they had the perfect chance to "take em out" , but Schultz said to stand down.
The cloaked figure said to kill only as a last resort. "It must not be traced back to us". They want Madame Balash to "fall from grace", not "escalate the situation."
Yes, I,19 is the cabin door.
Yatin the Entomancer |
The entomancer frowned as he heard the information from his scout. He turned to his companions, "It seems they had a little surprise of their own."
He then related the information obtained and prepared to hatch out a plan.
"Do you want to split up, strike as one force, draw them out...?"
His mantis claws manifested as if yearning for some blood.
other PCs may read spoiler above if you haven't done so already
Ommka |
Ommka's lip gets a good chew, before thr party are graced with a feral grin.
"Can we lob some kind of explosive at them? Or something to catch them in a bunch before we fall on them?"
Ommka |
Ommka's eyes raise as the dark elvin moves to confront the enemy.
With blinding speed that belies zhir frame and integrated scale armor, the botanical darts to the east before heading north in line with the treetrunk to the south of the picnic table in an effort to remain unseen, thunderbow held low and at the ready.
Swift Action: Manite speed boost - + 10 ft. Cost 1 energy point.
Move Action - Move 30 ft. East to cc13.
Move Action - Move 45 ft. North to T13.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Energy Points remaining 8/9
DM Bloodgargler |
Ommka is able to catch a glimpse of the three.
The male dwarf, Hans, steps away from the table. The female says "Schultz back already?" loud enough for Ommka, Jimara, and Yatin's wasp to hear...
"Naw. Saw something. You should go." ... it is not clear to whom he is suggesting this.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
DM Bloodgargler |
Ommka |
Ommka moves closer to the tree's trunk and shoots the mighty thunderbow at the figure closest the steamtank - the female dwarf.
Move Action: Move to M13
Standard Action: Fire arrow at G-15
Immediate Action: Wyrdsight on Attack Roll.
Fwip!!!: 1d20 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 17 [+2 BAB, +2 Dex, +1 Wyrdsight]
Estchok!!!: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 [+3 Str rated]
Energy Reserve left: 7/9
DM Bloodgargler |
The arrow whistles and the musket cracks... the female dwarf slams up against the cabin as both strike her. "Hans!"
He responds, "Get in! I'll hold'em off."
Hans flips the picnic table on its side for cover - top facing you, and readies his rifle. Gretal smashes the window with the butt of her rifle, and knocks out the largest jagged shards stuck in the frame - apparently preparing to dive inside.
The cloaked figure produces a small pistol, and fires at the approaching crab golem.
After missing his target, the cloaked figure holds out an armored fist defensively to ready himself against Korb's construct.
cloaked holdout vs crab: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 miss
Round 2
Now up: Party
then: Cloaked figure (F,13), Male Dwarf Hans (G,14), Female Dwarf Gretal (F,15)
(adjusted Jimara and Korb's locations - they were too low in the ravine to have line of sight. The grey terrain west of column 9 slopes downward to the creek.)
Ommka |
DM - seeing as my BAB is higher than +0, can't I draw my blade as "part of movement"? I'm looking at the rules found Quick Draw which state "Normal: Without this feat, you may draw a weapon as a move action, or (if your base attack bonus is +1 or higher) as a free action as part of movement. Without this feat, you can draw a hidden weapon as a standard action."
So my proposed action is to drop my bow as a free action, then charge with energy expended while drawing my blade...
Korbinian |
"We're not here to kill you! Lay down your weapons!"
Crab, SMASH!" he says, pointing at the table. The crab moves forward and attempts to smash it. 5ft step to H12, full attack
atk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Korbinian moves to G9 and takes a shot. at the pale faced one
atk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
dmg: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
sound and fury, signifying nothing...
Ommka |
Never mind, I'll just charge without the energy surge...If you rule I can, add +2 to attack and +3 to damage
Ommka drops the thunderbow and charges the female dwarf.
Free Action: Drop thunderbow.
Full Round Action: Charge while drawing blade.
Immediate Action: Expend 1 point of energy pool for wyrdsight.
Sweff!!!: 1d20 + 2 + 2 - 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 - 1 + 2 + 1 = 8 (+2 BAB, +2 Str, -1 PA, +2 charge, +1 wyrdsight]

AC from charge now 18/13/16
Oh well..... ;P
DM Bloodgargler |
The crab golem wails on the table, but barely scratches the surface. Korb's shot goes wide, and the dwarf woman avoids Ommka's strike.
Jimara's lobbed vial strikes the female dwarf, bursts, and the flames spread between the overturned table and cabin. Gretal shrieks and drops.
Panicked and raging, Hans bellows and levels his rifle at Ommka - directly next to him.
AoO for Ommka. AoO for Yatin - though he has +2 AC partial cover from you due to the edge of overturned table.
The cloaked white-masked figure points at Jimara with his unarmored hand as its coat pistol retracts into his sleeve. "You will know fear..." DC14 Will save vs Fear or shaken 1 rd.
He then comes around the table, balls his armored fist, and swings at Jimara.
rifle if not dropped by AoOs: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 1 = 22 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Energy reserve remaining 5/9
DM Bloodgargler |
Yes 1 pt.
Not accustomed to fighting alongside Ommka, Yatin checks his swing and misses. A few slats of wood begin to splinter as Korb's quartz golem smashes against the overturned table.
Struck by bullet and broadsword, the cloaked figure speaks... "Your failure here seems inevitable."
The male dwarf Hans growls in response.
Yatin AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Round 3
Now up: Ommka (others have taken rd 3 actions)
then: Cloaked figure (F,11), Male Dwarf Hans (G,14)
Ommka |
Pieces of vine, rock and other detritus fly as Ommka is hit by Han's blast. In response Ommka's body bulges and shifts, arms ripping and popping as they enlarge, chitin and bark encrusted carapace hardening. The botanical takes a mighty swing at Hans.
Swift Action: Expend 1 point from energy pool: +2 deflection bonus to AC - so 21/16/19 until my next turn
Move Action: Expend 1 point from energy pool : +4 Str for one round
Immediate Action: Expend 1 point of energy pool for wyrdsight.
Standard Action: Strike!!!
Sweff!!!: 1d20 + 2 + 4 - 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 4 - 1 + 2 + 1 = 22 (+2 BAB, +4 Str, -1 PA, +2 charge, +1 wyrdsight]

Interestingly, the energy increase in Strength only applies to attack rolls, not damage?!?!
Energy pool remaining 2/9
DM Bloodgargler |
As he's struck hard by Ommka's leafblade, Hans yells over his shoulder with pain in his voice... "Need t'get to the tank! Cover me!" No time to reload, Hans attempts to swat at Ommka with his rifle stock, and steps back.
The cloaked figure ignores his request "Another way.. will be found.", and attempts to withdraw while cradling an injured arm - heading north, and angling toward the ravine.
improvised weapon: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 4 = 8
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Low branches here.. any square "filled with tree" is difficult terrain.
>map<
Cloaked pale-face moved from F,11 to A,9
Hans moved from G,14 to F,14.
Round 4
Party up
Korbinian |
Crab, SMASH!" he says, pointing at the table. The crab attempts to smash it.
atk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
atk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Korbinian double moves south around the trees
DM Bloodgargler |
The male dwarf Hans is badly wounded and yields as the group overtakes him.
Jimara, first to give chase to the fleeing masked and cloaked figure, misses with her swing to his back. He continues his flight.. dropping down the side of the ravine in a controlled slide.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Jimara - he is moving more than double movement, therefore not a legal withdrawal... you have an AoO against him
(and his AC now is 12 with loss of dex and dodge to AC.)
Hans has dropped his rifle, and has his hands up. He now pleads, gesturing to his sister. "I give... I surrender. Just don't let'r die."
Ommka |
On hearing Hans' plaintive request Ommka nods and bends down to check the woman.
"Watch him!" Ommka warns Korbinian.
The botanical takes a long blink connecting to the warp of causality and attempts to stabilize the woman's mammal physiology.
Heal (untrained): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 1 = 17 [+1 from wyrdsight]
DM Bloodgargler |
Korb - correct
Hans watches intently as Ommka tends to Gretal. He relaxes a bit upon seeing her even breaths. He shakes his head ruefully "The Lectordines' man swore no one was to be seriously injured... that this was just a bit of corporate politics. Looks as though Ma'am Balash has spared the sparring swords."
(You were hired by Alour Balash of the Balash Lectordine Trading Company. This is the first time you've heard mention of the the Lectordines themselves.)
Korbinian |
"Alright, let's get these ones rounded up so I can get to work." Korbinian says.
When the more puissant of arms members of their company get their charges put together, Korbinian will get to work taking the cannon off.
craft machinery: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
DM Bloodgargler |
What exposed skin there is of the masked man as he's decloaked is hideous corrupted flesh. His armored gauntlet is lightweight and fine craftsmanship, but does not appear to have any singular qualities or special features. There is a spring-loaded wrist sheath and well-crafted holdout pistol on the arm. Tiny ammo pouches are on the band which secures the spring-loaded sheath to the forearm.
(Finely woven cloak, masterwork gauntlet, leather armor, masterwork coat pistol, 8 rounds normal ammo, 4 rounds wounding shot)
2 Hide Shirts, 2 Combat Knives, 2 Rifles, 38 rounds, 2 canteens,
(10) rations, 2 Flint and Tinderboxes, 2 Compasses.
The cannon looks unworkably complex at first until Korbinian realizes there is an attachment made to regulate the firing power in order to achieve desired range with multiple firing arcs.
Removing this attachment should make the job of removing the light cannon itself quite doable. The lugwrench needed is one Korbinian owns, but without a pair of offset hex vice-grip pliers, it will be a tough job. Even with the perfect tools for the job it would take at least a half-hour to do.
Removing the cannon will take Korb one more DC20 roll unless...
There are a few adapters, tools, and extensions in a lunch box near the hatch. You find one that will work.
Removes need for 1 skill check... your previous skill check is enough.
