Earlier Brunar returns Flint's grin, and then with a loud resounding, "ERRRRRR!"

As the last skeleton falls, Brunar shouts out, "HUZZAH!"

Brunar feels he did very well during this fight and even learn some things.

Once the fight's finished, Kayne finally comes through the small entrance as room is made. "Very well done, boys, ladies. Your tactical acumen and skill at arms are the stuff of legend." He crouches down to inspect the skeletons' remains and glances up. "I feel even safer exploring, knowing I'm accompanied by warriors who don't even need my assistance to overcome a great threat."

Sandy and Kristyd wait on the other side of the small door, keeping an eye on the donkey.

An examination of the remains reveals that these skeletons are very old, their weapons date from more than a couple of centuries ago.

While taking stock of the situation, and wondering if there is any value in taking the skeleton’s weapons, the party spots another secret door, exactly like the first one, on the opposite wall.

"You're a f&!%ing madman," Kiril gives Flint a friendly shove, still breathing heavily from the fight. When they find the new secret door, Kiril shrugs. "Let's just throw Flint in there by his belt and hold the door closed until the noises die down."

With practically no hesitation or forethought, Kiril ties a rope around Flint’s waist, kicks open the secret door and shoves the halfling through the opening.

Flint:
laughing, I hope you are laughing, you find yourself in a dark room, almost the exact same size as the previous room. In the center of this room is a raised stone platform, two feet above the floor, six feet square, and on this platform is an small, ancient, chest, its lid open. The chest is made from black oak, and has silver plated steel bands for extra strength. Inside the chest are hundreds of copper coins (which appear larger than the standard copper coins of the country of Balor. Mingled in among the copper coins are also a few gold coins, also not standard for the realm. Digging through the chest’s contents you will find three rubies, each larger than your thumb. The rubies are “rough” and have not be cut.

Brunar looks at the situation unfold and then states, "Aye, I hope we can rest after this secret door? I need to heal and recuperate my connection to Yerina after the last battle."

Brunar does look a little beaten up.

HAHA, oh gosh!

Taking in the compliments of his team, Flint grins a cocky grin, and brushes some powdered bone off of his shirt. "I suppose you could do that, but then how will any of you learn anything if you can't see me?"

"Wha- Oooohh!" Flint yelps as he is tossed into the room all the same, chuckling as he lands and the door closes behind him.

dm:
"Didn't think he meant it..." Flint mutters unheard by the rest, to himself. "Well, better me than them."

Getting up, he chuckles darkly and looks around the room.

Seeing the chest, Flint squints his eyes. This felt like a trap. Turning back to the door to get Kayne in here, he stops himself.

He slowly turns his head back to the chest... "Well... What could go wrong, really...?" he thinks aloud.

His caution once again taxed to its limit, Flint approaches and searches the chest carefully.

Investigate: 1d20 ⇒ 10 (+2 if perception check is more appropriate)

If no traps are found, he loots the chest into his bag for later, and then goes back to the door and knocks.

"A rest seems a fair idea. Reattune your connection, I can keep studying this tome. Good for everyone." Kayne absently polishes a spot on his gauntlet and looks back up to Kiril. "Are you sure tossing the halfling in like that was wise, though? He's a stout fellow, but we don't know what's in there. Maybe you should check."

While Kiril stands by the door listening, the others begin taking a moment to break out water skins, and a few snacks.

Suddenly, there is a light knocking on the door where Kiril waits quietly.

"See? He's fine." Kiril opens the door, grinning. "Slain all the monsters and looted all the treasure already, little hero?"

Flint gives a grin to the Half-orc as the door opens, and punches him squarely in the stomach. "Little?" he complains showing he had more problem with that choice of term than getting thrown into the room. He walks past him and out of the emptied room, undoing the rope as he goes.

"Some treasure, nothing else." he mentions, stretching and yawning. He looks to Kayne. "Break time already? Well, I guess I'm getting hungry."

Kiril oofs, surprised, then laughs uproariously.

As they get settled in to rest, Kiril takes a book from his pack, lays down, using his pack as a pillow, and starts reading.

Kayne also prepares to read his new tome, and when he sees Kiril acting similarly, he stops cold and stares for several seconds. "Kiril, I... are you reading? Can you read? What are you reading?" The incredulity is strong.

"I once saw a book detailing many interesting things regarding what people do without any clothes on. It didn't have many words, but there was page after page of illustrations! I hear that books like these are a highly sought after prize within ranks of soldiers."

Flint bats a thumb softly against his drum as he relaxes after stretching, then seems to get bored. He begins searching his pack, until he finds and unclaspses a signal whistle from the outside of one of the flaps.

Holding it to his lips thoughtfully, not quite pleased, he gives an exploratory Tweet! with it.

"Hmm..." he says, thinking. He gives another, louder Tweet, and frowns. He then starts blowing into it rhythmically, changing speed, length, and volume, but never its key. He nibbles at a ration between shrill tweets, and never blows it at full volume.

Smirking over the top of his book, "Yes, I read. This is is a book on Tarrulean wine by Victasys Millstone, an old tradition, surprisingly." He sighs and stretches, looking up at the dark moldy ceiling. "When I rescue this royal brat I'll have my own land and keep, a well stocked wine cellar, and library. Oh and servants."

The warlock continues to stare at Kiril, and then a muffled chuckle comes from his scarf, as his eyes twitch up with mirth. "Fair enough. Tarrulean is a fine style, they have some excellent vintages." Kayne seems pleasantly surprised by this revelation.

After an hour or so of relaxing, Kiril stands and stretches. "I'll keep watch. Get some rest, pray, meditate, whatever you lot do to work your magicks and miracles."

He'll walk the perimeter of the room once then stand guard at the entrance (if there's one entrance), leaning on the wall with his halberd out.

Flint keeps tweeting on the whistle, no longer paying any attention to Kiril and his book. "which I had some panpipes..." he mutters to himself, looking at the tool which doesn't meet his musical ambitions.

When Kiril stands to begin a longer watch, Flint instead stands and gets his pack ready for more adventuring.

"Nuts to that. I feel great! Let's keep going." He looks over at the resting Brunar. "Come on sleepy. There are some doors to the right of the entrance, down a side hall we haven't yet checked out. Maybe they'll be something worth seeing!"

He quickly raises and lowers his eyebrows at the dwarf.

Kiril ignores the halfling, waiting to see what the rest of them do and will follow suit. He seems a bit calmer and more content after the rest.

Brunar rests for a bit next to Sandy to gain his strength back to fight on until the major rest point four or so hours from now. He takes a swig of water and eats a snack from his pack. Asks Sandy how she is doing.

Brunar stands up, then grabs his axe and shield.

Day 6; Wednesday, approximately 12:00 pm: It is noon, the nineteenth day of Mergunum, the last month of the twelve month calendar year (the beginning of spring time)

The party takes a short break, and then when they are feeling a bit refreshed, they set out back through the winding passageway that leads them back to one of the main corridors of the first level of this strange place.

A quick check of Gwendolyn’s map and they are on their way back to the east west passageway near the entrance, and turning left, they head to a few locations that were passed in haste before.

There are three separate sets of double, stone doors in this passageway. One set of doors is located about halfway along the passageway, on the south wall, while the other two sets of doors are near the end of the passageway, and are opposite each other on the north and south walls.

Flint looks over to Kiril "Your turn." he says, gesturing to the door. "Unless you don't think you can take it alone. Or would you like to give it a try?" he looks between Brunar.

He doesn't suggest it to Kayne, knowing the quiet scheming types generally don't like an over abundance of risk.

Kayne, for his part, doesn't volunteer. Not only do the quiet scheming types not like an overabundance of risk, but the thin scholarly types don't like shoving open heavy doors only to meet some beastly thing on the other side ready to stab them. And where would the party be without his keen tactical acumen? He needed to stay near the rear.

Stopping at the first set of doors they come to, Kiril puts boot to stone and shoves in the middle of the doors, opening them both wide enough for everyone to look in.

It appears to be an empty room.

Grunting in displeasure, he marches further to the east, with everyone following as close as comfortable, knowing the warrior might lose his patience and throw someone through a door at any minute.

At the end of the passageway, Kiril shoves open first the north doors, and after finding that room empty as well, moves quickly to the south doors.

When the doors open, something different is found. This room looks as if it has been used recently. It is a large room, forty feet wide and fifty feet deep. There is a long narrow table down the center of the room and it is lined with stools. The table has dirty bowls, plates, cups, and spoons strewn all over it. A single large ceramic bowl near this end of the table is filled with apples. To the east there is a fire pit, but there is no sign of any chimney here, while to the west there is another set of stone doors.

Kiril frowns at the odd room. He goes in, and knocks the table over with his maul for no apparent reason, then searches the room.

Brunar walks in at the ready especially since Kiril is making all that noise with tipping over the table. Realizing it is Kiril's frustrations or his desire to cause chaos, he relaxes a little and looks at the room.

While Kiril starts making an awful noise and casting about, Kayne moves to examine the curiosity--a fire pit with no chimney. Is it hidden, perhaps? Or is the pit false? Otherwise something that survives in the smoke, or the whole thing an elaborate trap...

"Nothing but the absurdity of the thing itself." The warlock stands and brushes the dust and dirt from his robes as best as he's able. "Without a chimney there's nowhere for the smoke to go, so either the pit is decorative, or whatever lives here doesn't need to breathe clean air. Intriguing either way, and concerning, I suppose." He sniffs and rubs at a spot on his gauntlet.

After Kiril knocks the table over, he stands and broods for a moment while Kayne inspects the fire pit and the ceiling above, and then begins slowing walking around the room. He pauses at the southern end of the room when he sees a strange shallow indentation in the wall, which could be a sign of a concealed or hidden door.

Just as Brunar addresses the man in the dark robes, Kiril thinks he hears a strange sound coming from the other side of the doors on the west wall.

Kiril:
You think that you heard distinct scratching on stone coming from the doors

Kiril grabs a bit of charcoal from the firepit and marks an X on the spot he suspects is a hidden door, then goes to the doors on the west wall. "Somethin's on the other side of these ones. Can't tell what. Ready?"

He'll then kick the doors with as much force as he can muster--hoping to knock whatever's on the other side away.

Flint tries to get Kayne’s attention, pointing at some small distortion in the ceiling high above, as Kiril kicks at the stone doors on the west wall.

There is a high pitched squeal, and the sound of scurrying as suddenly four giant rats are knocked back into the room beyond the kicked open door.
