Broccan Dunchad |
"AMBUSH!" Broccan yells to the others, as he hurls a packet of flash powder at the figure hiding in the shawdows to the right.
"There's 'noth'r one hid'n t'th left!"
Ranged attack (flash poweder): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Erine Wintyle |
Erine shouts something in Terran. The elemental flows forward and at the nearest foe.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Rounds remaining: 1/4
Erine reaches into her pouch and procures what looks like a tiny amphibious eye. It flashes and dissolves into powder. "Ignit!"
Goat's eyes change to resemble those of a salamander. He moves around outside to get a good look at one of the men.
Casting Burning Gaze, and using Share Spells to place the spell on Goat instead.
Assuming Goat's able to get someone in range, the target must make a DC 16 Fortitude save or take 1d6 fire damage. If he fails that save, he must also make a DC 16 Reflex save or catch fire.

I edited my post to add Erine's action.
Rounds remaining for Burning Gaze: 3/4.
Erine watches the men impassively.
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Broccan hits the one on the right with flash powder and the elemental slams the one on the left.
The four men across the way ready longswords and sneer...
"We are havin a bit o fun go away it's not yer business!"
"Aye, lads, 'at's why we be 'ere. Fer a bit o' fun!"
Canvy-bot Initiative 1d20 ⇒ 13
Canvy stands just inside the doorway for a moment in an attitude of listening, "Yes, mother. I understand."
He takes the ranseur in both hands and says, "Mother thinks that one of you would be perfect. Which will it be?" His eyes have an odd glow as he strides forward.
Edrukk looks to see that the ambushers are well in hand, but he walks alongside Canvy to face the four farther into the room.
They both have 20' move, but I'm not sure how far they need to move to engage with the thugs. In the likely event that they would have to move more than 20', they will move 20' and wait for the thugs to approach.
Broccan Dunchad |
Broccan moves forward and swings his sword, pommel -first at the nearest thug.
"Las' chance, boys. Give ov'r 'r I gutcha like eh fish!"
Non-lethal attack; 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 4 = 15
Non-lethal damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
KenderKin |
The remaining hillfolk attack Broccan mostly.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 longswords 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 longswords 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 longswords 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 longswords 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

I have no idea where anyone is so I am not tossing explosive and will use a precise bomb. I can exclude 4 squares from damage. I will exclude any PC's and as much of the bar as I can
Incoming! ranged touch 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 = 8. Splash 5' radius 6 pts Ref DC 16 for 1/2.
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Edrukk casts a spell, creating a ghostly greatsword that flies toward the man behind the bar.
Spiritual Weapon 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
He moves toward the melee that's surrounded Broccan. He will look for a flanking position.
Erine Wintyle |
The elemental swings at another one of the men.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Ugh.
The elemental then dissolves back into the ground.
Goat stares at another one as the first man he targeted catches on fire.
The previous man takes another 1d6 ⇒ 3 damage, since he failed his Reflex save.
The new target must make a DC 16 Fortitude save or take 1d6 ⇒ 4 damage, and also make a DC 16 Reflex save or catch on fire.
Burning Gaze has 2/4 rounds left.
Erine stands still, watching.
KenderKin |
As you look at the interior map the area where the 1 appears is the open area, off to each side is where the debris is stacked up.
Broccan is in the square directly above the 1, with bandits lined up and facing him.
Canvy and Edrukk have moved up, the debris to the right of the door is now on fire.
Broccan slams one man and his eyes cross as he slumps to the ground,
Erine has burned to death another.....
Canvy and Minniwick miss...
Edrukk slams the man behind the bar with a mystical weapon!
Erines fiery gaze tears into another bandit!
Two of the men attempt to bash Broccan
Longsword
attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Longsword
attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
You are up!
Erine Wintyle |
Oh, and I'll wait for the Init order this time. It looks like only two enemies remain. Goat's second target needs to make his saves--if he failed the Reflex save last round, he takes 1d6 ⇒ 2 more damage this round and is on fire. Assuming he wasn't just killed by someone else.
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
The ghostly greatsword continues to harass the man behind the bar.
Spiritual Weapon 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Crit confirmation 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
The dwarf tries to apply his more worldly weapon to one of Broccan's foes. With a flank, if his movement allows. If movement doesn't allow a flank, he will take a 5' step toward a future flank before swinging.
Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Not including any flanking
Damage 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 = 6
Broccan Dunchad |
Broccan grabs the bandit he knocked-out, and hauls him roughly to his feet. He roughly shakes him until he wakes up.
"Oi! Wakey, wakey! Y' got some 'splainin' t' do 'r I'll feed ya t' the goat! Where's th' Lady o' th' house?"

Those with the rapiers are "alleybashers" once more common in caulddron, til the last laugh took over and ousted them
The man comes around
"Hey wha!" and is still pretty drunk....

Knowledge (local) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
"They're from two different groups," Erine murmurs to Goat. "The ones with the longswords are hill-folk, and the ones with the rapiers used to be street thugs."
Goat bleats.
"Don't be ridiculous. I can only cast that spell once each day. Besides, I'm not wasting any more charges in this wand."
Goat snorts.
Canvy Mandrain |
"Well at least we have some more gold." as Canvy's eyes open wide with delight, "Even if tis but a paltry amount. Best search the rest of this building for any waifs and strays lying in wait."
Canvy starts a thorough search....taking a 20 for 22
Minniwick Zookwinkle |
Try and keep an eye on Canvy. Looting bandits is one thing but taking the family silver is another.
pull two packets out from a pouch Talking to the drunk bandit Broccan is questioning OK son this one will sober you up, bottoms up. after he drinks I almost forgot it will leave you with a nasty hangover. Answer his questions and I will give you the second one, it takes away the hangover.
Erine Wintyle |
Erine gets up and starts looking through the building, looking for survivors.
Canvy alerted me to a mistake in Erine's build--Augment Summoning actually requires Spell Focus (conjuration) to function. Is it alright if I just swap Spell Focus (enchantment) for it?

Triel sounds like Triel Eldurast a one time town guard who escaped punishment in Cauldron after murdering several of her fellow guards while on duty. This event happened nearly a decade ago so the details are a bit hazy....
Minniwick Zookwinkle |
Broccan, try and find out how many others are here with him, and where High Priest Sarcem and Shensen are.
Knowledge Local 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Tell the group what I remember about Triel Eldurast and her crime
She sounds like a bit of bad news from the past. If it is Triel she is still wanted for murder in Cauldron.

Broccan leans in close and tries his best to terrify the brigand.

"Y' bett'r no' be 'old'n ou' tonn us, 'r it'll go bad for ye...how many more 'r there o' ye?"
Erine Wintyle |
Erine takes a step closer, kneeling next to the thug. "You need to work with us if you're to make it out of here alive. We'll let you free if you help us. It's an easy thing. Only a few questions." The gnome witch keeps talking, and her words seem to meld together, making a comforting mist in the man's mind.
Erine is using the Charm hex. Will save, DC 16, or his attitude goes up by one rung (probably to either Unfriendly or Indifferent). This effect lasts for 4 rounds.
"Now, we have some simple questions. Then we can wrap this up. First, what is 'Tongue Eater'? Second, where is he? And third, where did you see this this red-haired woman last?"
Canvy Mandrain |
Canvy stands by watching Erine's interrogation technique. "Well done little one, so now we know where the treasure is, it must be time to collect our reward." He smiles, "Though I've not come across a were-baboon before, we'd best be careful and ready. May need careful preparation. So where is this kitchen?
