Upon returning Deakon, Evelyn and Lucinda to the Lantern Street Orphanage, you are surprised to find that Terrem was returned as well.
The headmistress says “A mysterious woman wearing a dark veil escorted Terrem to the doorstep and then quickly departed. We asked Terrem about her and he said he did not recognize her and never even thought to ask her name.”
You head to the Temple of Sarenrae and there are greeted by Rufus, “Well met, it seems some congrations are in order.” He quickly ushers you in to see Jenya.
“Many thanks to you in returning those you could, I am recommending that you be recognized by the office of the Lord Mayor, and be granted an audience for possible future employment.”
Jenya offers a chest containing 2,500 Gold coins.
“I suspect at that time you will be recognized on the up side and likely also asked to pay taxes on your reward, according to the last notice that would be one silver per gold piece, not to worry the collector should give you a receipt, however I would pay the tax before it increases….”
Tax Notice posted all over cauldron!

“Nothing exists that is sure but the Dark Angel and the Revenue Collector.”
Truly, we who care for the weighty concerns of royal finance appreciate the opportunity to convey to the world at large somewhat of our view of things.
Alas, it falls upon me and my very inadequate staff to garner the treasure that all the Lord Mayor’s other men compete to spend. Since we are vastly
outnumbered by the scatterers of His Majesty’s store, we must compensate by being vastly more inventive than they, finding novel ways to gather it in.
What are the monthly taxes, then? Well, now.
There is the Consumption Tax assessed in all stores and markets. It is assessed at ¼ copper piece in the silver on all sales.
Certain goods are designated as luxuries and are subject to the Luxury Tax of 1 copper in the silver.
There is the general Inheritance Tax of 1 silver in the gold.
And of course, we collect tariffs on goods imported from other lands. These rates vary, depending on the state of our relations with the kingdom in question, but they probably average about 1 copper for every 100 pounds of weight of the goods.
A strong sword and a full moneybag – these maketh a kingdom to prosper.

Everyone feel free to buy gear, get armor fitted sell goods, etc....
Next up an audience with the office of the lord mayor!
The dwarven smith sets to making the adjustments to the armor, he is more than a little curious about the armor until he spots the maker's mark upon the armor....
"Lad where did yah find this armor?"
"A droll yah say? I am willin tah bet tha lord mayor's office would be very interested in findin out bout such a creature."
"Yah has a meeting comin up with em?"
Please add your share of the treasure and deduct the costs the surly dwarf charges to rework the armor!

"We don't have to pay these taxes do we, we worked hard to earn this reward, I don't think we should share it with some good for nothing King. Let's just keep it all, we could hide it somewhere and claim it later." the half-orc pleads with the rest of the party. His eyes sparkle as he lets the coin, stream though his fingers into a pile on the floor.

Edrukk just snorts at Canvy's display. I had considered a wand, actually. That or a sword or armor upgrade - or both. Would be happy to contribute toward the purchase of a wand of healing.
We picked up some gear, also. Is there a standard price (50%, for example) if we try to sell it?
As you are getting re-stocked and taking care of business an official looking letter addressed to each of you arrives as you are about town. A youngish lad delivers them, who knows or cares if it is the same boy or a different one.

Spoiler:
Greetings heroes,
Please avail yourselves to a meeting with me.
I like to sponsor heroes from time to time and my patronage is well worth your time.
When you are all able let me know and we shall meet.
"Hey Ya'll tak a gander at this har thing....Cost me a bit but it is great!"
Spoiler:
Crossbow, Repeating, Heavy
Load: As long as it holds bolts, you can reload it by pulling the reloading lever (a free action). Loading a new case of 5 bolts is a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity.
Note: The repeating crossbow (whether heavy or light) holds 5 crossbow bolts. You can fire a repeating crossbow with one hand or fire a repeating crossbow in each hand in the same manner as you would a normal crossbow of the same size. However, you must fire the weapon with two hands in order to use the reloading lever, and you must use two hands to load a new case of bolts.

Erine looks to buy a wand of healing (cure light wounds). She doesn't ask the others about it, and doesn't hear of Edrukk's willingness to contribute.
How much do we have? 500 gp payment, but what from the sales?

Shop around for alchemical components to brew up some new stock.
Minniwick will take time to talk to everyone in the group. Either as a group or one on one. "Thank you for your part in cleaning out Jzadirune. I had given up hope of seeing my home again. If you need potions or alchemical gear just ask, my cost is all I will take. You already have my gratitude but if you need me for anything else, just ask."
He will also ask around and try and discover what plans there are to open Jzadirune back up to the Gnomish population of Cauldron. Minniwick would like to try and rent space for a shop.
Who is this Lord Vhalantru? Knowledge Local 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Nearly everyone in Cauldron is familiar with the Lord mayor and Lord Vhalantru. Several groups of adventurers have gotten a start in Cauldron and then as they became more powerful moved on to a larger city like Sasserine.......
Lord Vhalantru has been known to sponsor adventurers with assistance.
Minniwick finds the space he desires very quickly the storefront once belonging to the lock-maker Keygan, who has been taken by the town guard and is imprisoned until his trial.
That shop space also has the only known opening to the gnomish city.....
Upon receiving his invitation from the Lord Mayor, Broccan becomes self-conscious of his attire and appearance. Having been a miner most of his life, he hasn't had a need for fancy duds.
He seeks out a tailor in one of the nicer districts of cauldron and purchases clothing (he believes) appropriate for such an important occasion. He also visits a barber and a bath house to make certain he is in no way offensive to such an important person.

Minniwick will rent out the storefront and get a locking bar for the door down to Jzadirune. Look at materials for a new sign and supplies for a grand opening depending on what happens with Keygan.
Minniwick will try and visit Keygan. If I am allowed to speak with him see if he needs any help with a legal representative or if he needs anyone contacted.
Did we clear Jzadirune and The Malachite Fortress?
@Broccan
"Yer lookin good Broc I near took yah fer one o them rich gents, didn't yah always say yah was gonna be an adventurer?"
@Minniwick
"Good tah see ya ave barred up tha door, we left more than one critter o some sort down thar!"
@Everyone
I hear ed they was puttin ol Keygan on trial, seems he turned himself in an was sorry bout tha whole thing, but he is still goin tah trial in front o several big-wigs, think they are gonna ave us testify o somethin."

So another 360 gp for each party member, 10% of which is due for taxes?
Kenderkin:
I did not mention it, but my intent was to collect the items and cash in the archer's post that Edrukk examined alone. He's torn as to whether he will share it with Canvy, but he will probably do so. I just wasn't sure if that was included in the total you just gave.
Male Dwarven Cleric 5 of Gorum (Domains Strength, War)
Edrukk will follow with Broccan as he investigates the question of new or refitting armor as well as the new outfit. Unable to bring himself to spend money on something fancy, though, he settles on a clean new set of traveler's clothes.
"Guess we bes' no' keep 'is Lordship waitin'...Wass fitt'n in terms o' wha' we shou' bring? Shou' we be wear'n our weap'ns? It don' seem safe bein' inna town like this withou'tem, but'I can'timagine he'd like us t'carry'em t'the meetin'"
Late in the evening you arrive at the lord mayors residence!
Opening a dark, carved wooden door, they all enter a spacious, circular room furnished with comfortable chairs and settees, with hanging tapestries and a bright chandelier overhead. As they enter, a figure rises awkwardly and smiles at you.
He is a human of average height, slightly overweight, with long blond hair, dressed in noble’s clothes that are just a bit disheveled. In one hand he holds a silver cup, in the other a small wooden pipe. He holds the cup aloft and says loudly “Greetings brave heroes! Join me in a drink in your honor!” He drains what is left in his cup. It is clear he is a bit tipsy. He sets down his pipe, which falls over on the table, and picks up a nearby bottle.
The mayor says “Lady and gentleman, may I introduce Lord Vhalantru, one of Cauldron’s upstanding nobles. Lord Vhalantru, the brave heroes who saved Cauldron’s Children.”
Vhalantru flourishes an exaggerated bow. “Greetings, greetings, one and all. Now, for that toast.” He gestures to one of the two serving people in the room, who picks up a tray of silver cups, while the other takes a bottle from a nearby table and begins to pour drinks.
While they are distributing the cups, Vhalantru chuckles and says “What heroes you are, to have rescued those orphans. My, I haven’t seen such daring in many a season! Are you hungry? We have fruit and cheeses over here if you’d like,” gesturing to a sideboard with a bowl and plate of said items. “But you have your drinks now, so a toast.” At this point everyone, including the mayor, has a cup filled with red wine. “To being in the Company of heroes, long may they… do what they do!” He drains his cup and holds it out to be refilled, teetering slightly.
”Please find yerselves a place to relax” the mayor takes a seat himself in an overstuffed armchair.
The mayor says “Lord Vhalantru is a great admirer and supporter of Cauldron’s adventurers. He asked to be able to meet you personally and extend his congratulations. He has a notable history of interest in heroes such as your selves.”
“Indeed!” says Vhalantru. “Those who would risk life and limb in the interests of those around them deserve to be recognized and celebrated. In fact, you are all to be under my patronage”

"Thought yah might could use this light repeating crossbow, it holds five bolts an changes out like this."
Erine shakes her head. "Erm, no, don't know how to use it. G-give it to someone who does."
Actually, if I understand right, 10% of the 1,800 gp is due for taxes. But I'm no mathematician.
Before the meeting, Erine seeks to buy a wand of healing. 750 gold for a wand of CLW, usually.
Erine is quiet during the meeting. She seems very uncomfortable.

My purchases included 10% set aside for taxes, including my share of the 1800 gp. I don't know how anyone else handled it.
"Edrukk Thorvirgun, cleric o' Gorum. Me family 'as been makin' th' finest weapons 'n armors 'n th' continent fer 500 years, but me 'eart 'eard a diff'rent callin'."
He looks with some concern at the gnomish witch, trying to figure out how to ease her discomfort.

What all does Minniwick know about the bond between Summoner and Edolon? What would it take to keep him from just dismissing it? Did any of the creatures we encounter seem to have that kind of power? Spellcraft 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 KN Arcane 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
You know that usually dismissing a creature will send it away just as killing it would. Though the eidolon Starbrow was shackled in some sort of magical shackles, likely a dimensional anchor or some sort of magic.
Keygan also believed that they knew a way to slay the eidolon permanently, though you can not think of a way this might be possible...
