Broccan Dunchad |
A man of average height and build, wearing a very well-fit suit of full-plate armor and carrying a steel shield. The armor and shield are fitted with an array of wicked-looking spikes. In his right hand, he holds a longsword. A large warhammer hangs through a brass loop on his belt, and a quiver full of javelins is strapped on his back next to a fully loaded backpack. One would get the impression that just standing still with that load would be exhausting, never mind moving or fighting.
His face is marred with scars and his nose is crooked, as if it has been broken several times. When he speaks, you notice his teeth are chipped in several places. His cheeks bear a scraggly, patchy, half-grown beard.
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Just over four feet tall and seemingly almost as wide, a scarred dwarf holding a ridiculously long sword visits with his allies, his voice carrying only as deep grumbles to those watching.
A crossbow is slung over his shoulder to go with the quiver of bolts on his hip. Sadly, sometime back I cleaned up his character sheet and I can't find or remember what armor he is wearing right now!

Alkaid....
will save
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17....failed
You quickly learn a lot about the arcane archer among the group of elves. He is cautious but hopes the evil has been banished from this area...
He keeps constant vigilance noticing every detail of the land around him....
Alkaid Ingrid Bridgette Aiba |
Alkaid continues
"This staff currently does have enough power to resurrect and reincarnate two people. So we could revive both immediately.
Though if we go down that route, which one gets reincarnated?"
and telepathically talks to the group at the same time
"Seems the Elves don't mean us harm us, so I'll let them know we know of their presence."
Alkaid gets up off the log, she was sitting on the past 3 hours debating and talking with the group. As Alkaid gets up, she stretches as she turns to face the Elves.
Alkaid then says in perfect elven with a slightly sylvan accent
"Nulla eget latentes in arborum nobilium domina, quomodo te novi, et quatuor. Exeunt ex occultis possis."
Kythel, You can figure her height is about 6 foot 3.
So she's taller then an average female elf (5 foot 11)
and She is also curvier than an average elf.
Kythel can roll say a Know(Religion) check DC:14, to get an idea of her faith.
As she is wearing possible hints.
KenderKin |
At the invitation the group of elves starts to move forward....
Kythel
A group of three elves atart to approach...
One of them salutes and says.."I am Yellis the arcane archer, with me are Zarn the ranger, and Thilvara the sorcerer."
another one adds "Ahem.."
"Oh yes of course Vesley the pixie."
Kythel of Nisroch |
Kythel emerges from the bushes as well and approaches. He is a tall human (6'4") with long dark hair which spills out of the cowl of his hood. Despite the bulk of the robes it is clear that he is not muscular based on the way the robe drapes around him. His eyes are dark and haunted looking. He wears a holy symbol
"Well met, the elves told me I would be meeting Heroes who have vanquished a great evil" I assume there are still some bodies lying around unless they moved away from the battlefield "it would see this is so. Tell me Heroes, what do you know of the troubles in the area? I am interested in assisting with ending them if possible..."
Knowledge Religion I will take 10 granting me a 14...
Alkaid Ingrid Bridgette Aiba |
Alkaid stops her stretch and replies to the elves in perfect elven with a slightly sylvan accent
"Susceperint vos et nos huic vesperam?"
She sees Kythel emerge from the bush, does a quick glance and replies in common with a elven accent
"Well meet, though I'm surprised a cleric of Pharasma would be all the way out here, since most keep watch over an area and don't leave."
She adds in common
"And what other evil is here, may I ask."
Kythel, the closer you get to her, the more she gives off an attractive presence that you could not miss or put your finger on.
Broccan Dunchad |
Realizing he is still brandishing his blade, Broccan wipes it off on the dead sorcerer's cloak and sheaths it.
He stands by and watches as Alkaid speaks with the elves and the robed stranger.
Kythel of Nisroch |
Kythel shrugs, "I am not a traditional Cleric of the Lady of Graves. This place has no warden serving the Lady, so perhaps this will be my place. Having just recently arrived, the elves will know more of what evils lurk in this place though the abandoned village is ample proof that things are not right. From where do you hail elven maiden, if that is what you are...?" Kythel speaks in a monotone voice.
Perception take 10=24
Broccan Dunchad |
I believe we spent 3 hours debating and talking about what to do with the bodies and staff, so I think Broccan would of put his sword away before that time was up.
No telling...he can be pretty thick at times.
KenderKin |
Yellis adds in.
"The people of Ossington were once peaceful simple farmers, and their leader was a peaceful wizard who lived in the tower, I had in fact spent time with him on matters arcane. He was in both good health and spirits...."
"until one of his former pupils visited, at which point he died suddenly, with the pupil taking residence in the tower."
"In ruling the new wizard became power-mad and the village numbers kept increasing, without anyone moving in."
"It was then we realized he meant to create an army from the animals of the forest, so we began fighting so that he could not feed or move his army."
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
@Alkaid: You will allow? Are you running the game now?
@KenderKin: Are the elves speaking Common? Or was that directed to our Elvish speakers?
Kythel of Nisroch |
No retconning that now, let's let the DM adjudicate those rolls or ignore it at his discretion.
"So you believe it is the Wizard causing these issues Yellis? Tell me Heroes, who were these villains you defeated? To say the least, having just arrived here there seems to be a great deal of information to learn to ascertain what is taking place."
DM, have I seen a Wizard's Tower in the short time I have been journeying on the island?
Sanstree |
"This wizard...Sanstree points at himself."Has nevr been no problem fer nobody."
"This one..."kicks Dyson's corpse."apparently was a problem, speakin o which we should be bringin Tully back afire tha Vrock comes back an raises him up."
Kythel of Nisroch |
Kythel looks at the body that the Druid kicked, "Very well then. It seems the troubles of this place shall soon settle themselves down. That is good. Lord Carroway seemed convinced that the Elves were behind the troubles, I shall be glad to inform him that, as I suspected, all was a mere misunderstanding".
Kythel turns to the band, "I am recently arrived here. Tell me, to where do you all journey next?"
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
"The drood," he points at Henwen, "used 'n ancient magic t' turn animals 'n th' woods int' people o' th' village. Th' elves, seems like, were th' ones that knew what was goin' on. 'n th' spirit o' th' barrow. 'e tol' 's quite a bit."
Broccan Dunchad |
"Twas'eh bit backwar'd oh th' usual. The dead-things were good'n'th' village'eh peas'nts were th' vill'ns. I should'a caught on when'eh ghost knight didn't attack me ev'n af'tr I call'd 'm a cow'rd. If ee was ann'ethin' less'n a truly good soul'ee would'eh tried t' cut me down. Instead ee lead us t' th' truth, n' only came t' us when ee knew we would'nt try t' fight 'em. It was..."
Broccan trails off when he realizes he was talking a lot, and wasn't sure if the elves or newcomers wanted to hear his version of events.
"Um..apol'gies...they c'n tell it better..."
Alkaid Ingrid Bridgette Aiba |
Alkaid replies to Kythel in common with an Elven accent
"Ah, one who has not found a place to watch"
Alkaid replies to the Elves in common with an Elven accent
"Ah, a student who fell into the darkness of his own shadow and weakness."
To the group she adds
"I think the next spot to visit is the tower to confirm that the threat of that wizard is over, as this could be just a copy.
That and if he summoned that Vrock, it means he is powerful, just not sure how much."
Kythel of Nisroch |
"Before we head off to the Tower do any of you require Healing? I fear there is little I can do for your fallen companions".
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
The dwarf pauses and takes stock of his injuries. "Mayhap I 'ave a few scrapes 'n bruises, 't that."
He has visible fresh wounds and there are signs of frostbite on his cheeks from the wizard's spell, but there are older wounds, barely healed, as well. You think it might have been a bad week, but realize if he's a Gorumite, he's probably enjoying himself.
Kythel of Nisroch |
Kythek grasps the Holy Symbol of Pharasma and channels positive energy into the group.
Channel Energy 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3) = 9
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
"Thank ye. Ah dinna catch yer name, lad. Ye say ye be sent by th' local laird?"
Listens to the response, and asks, "So, if'n ye wield 'oly power, 'r ye able t' be usin' 'is staff? The accursed drood won' be needin' 't, 'n we be thinkin' t' use 't t' resurrect th' 'oly warrior th' lot o' 'em kilt. Ah be thinkin' 'e should come wit' 's t' th' tower."
Can you cast resurrection from a staff? How much of the deceased's body is required for the spell? (Sorry, popping in for a quick post, didn't research.) The man's head was removed to prevent speak with dead, I believe, but we know where it was hidden. The rest of him - and his horse - were thrown into a local pond. So I think we can gather all of him into one place, if need be.
Kythel of Nisroch |
"You are welcome indeed Edrukk. I am Kythel of Nisroch. Servant of the Lady of Graves. I suppose I could channel the divine energies harnessed by the Staff. Do you believe it powerful enough to raise the dead?"
Did you all want to Reincarnate them both?
Alkaid Ingrid Bridgette Aiba |
Post monster, eat my post last night
Alkaid replies
"The staff just needs some charging before we bring them back,
The Paladin gets resurrection, and Tully gets ..."
then interrupted by Yellis
"She was one of them....
Now we can't tell, if it was of her own free will, as there are spells that hinder or almost complete removes one's free will.
Or she had a change in heart on what she was doing."
She thinks
"I would, know I'd had to do that a few times."
then continues speaking
"Now if her free will was removed, it would be more obvious than if it was only hindered, and you have to have good eye to spot it."
How did Tully and the rest of the dead adventurers register on detect evil as it's always on.
KenderKin |
How did Tully and the rest of the dead adventurers register on detect evil as it's always on.
Those darn standing stones interfere with magical scrying and also with divination/detection magic of any sort (within them). When Dyson and the cuckoo came out they were obviously evil........ Tully on the other hand was wearing a special ring that is listed in the loot post that sort of prevents readings on her at any time ; )
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
"Th' lass died fightin' 'gainst 'er friends 't th' end. She tol' 's t' raise the paladin first." He glares at Sanstree as he says this, "'n said where t' find th' poor man's 'ead. She did plenty fer me t' give 'er 'nother chance. She walked th' walk whilst alive, Ah don' need t' talk t' 'er dead."
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
"Le's get th' po' man's 'ead." Turning to the elves, "Ye been watchin', aye? D'ye 'appen t' know which buildin' they were usin'? The 'ead be 'n th' 'earth."
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
'old on, lad. We need t' be buildin' a pyre fer what remains o' 'ese three. Ah dinna wanna poison yer land further by buryin' th' lot o' 'em 'n 't. C'n yer folk aid 's 'n 'at?
KenderKin |
Yellis waves to the wood-line a few more elves appear...
He directs them to the bodies and to clean up the area and assists in shouldering Tully's body...
"Where are the paladin's remains?"
After receiving an answer the group heads to Ossington ans a quick survey of the buildings reveals only one hearth that looks like the dirt was disturbed. Very shallowly buried is a human skull.
Kythel of Nisroch |
Kythel will bend down over the skull, "Pharasma, we disturb the deceased but do so with greater purpose. Guide us in moving forward to make the right choices with these remains".
So saying, Kythel lifts the skull and delicately places it in his backpack.
