"Thank you, Roland. Your potion made this climb easy. Could you assist anyone who looks like they might need help?"

Looks like the rope with a cliff face to brace up against is dc 5. Aakif takes 10 and makes the climb.

So...is the ledge where we are the same place as the iced harpies? If so, once everyone is up, Aakif will cast protection from cold, communal on the party. If our ledge is not the same place as where the ice came from, Aakif will save the spell for a bit.

GM - do we know if we defeated Jerevyx?

Arnthoth begins to reach for his own flying potion when Roland retrieves his own. Pausing, he watches Ali and Roland, his eyes widening as the simiacicles come raining down.

Glancing at his companions with a questioning look, he grabs the rope and quickly begins climbing.

Accelerated climb, T10 for 21

Simiacicles! Nice!

Everyone makes it safely up to Roland’s narrow ice shelf, allowing you to make your way to the edge of the ice cave proper.

The wide mouth of this frigid cavern is almost completely sealed by thick pillarlike accumulations of ice and snow. An enormous stone column dominates the center of the cave’s interior. A small platform, cut into the pillar just below where two archways of ice branch off to join the cavern walls, bears a grotesquely carved throne decorated with draconic motifs.

Stalactites, some as long as fifteen feet, droop in patches along the ceiling, while rows of shorter, jagged stalagmites sprout from the cavern floor. An icy stone shelf above the western corner of the cave partially obscures a narrow passageway leading deeper into the cavern.

Roland estimates the ice ceiling as being about 40’ above the cave floor. The chamber is lit by torches inset at 30-foot intervals along the cavern walls. There are a number of notches running up the south side of the central column allowing access to the throne platform.

Yet another harpy is lounging in the grand central throne with two wyrm-beasts reclining on their haunches at her feet, like begging dogs. Her hands and feet are covered with translucent blue scales, and her face bears traces of some primitive, reptilian ancestry.

“Huh, it is merely common thieves and assassins! After your laughable impression of one of my subjects and THEN the offering of noisy simians, I was expecting to greet Sun Wukong Himself!”

“No matter.” The harpy waves a hand dismissively. “I will now slay you all like your ancestors murdered my GLORIOUS PROGENITOR!”

@Arnthoth, unless you can convince me a large wolf can climb a rope, I’m going to leave Volfie out of this fight, licking simiacicles on the floor of Hollowfrost Pass.

The Wyrm Beasts expel frost-laden clouds of fluid from their maws that fill the air and ground in and around the Pathfinders with icy, crystalline shards.

Resolving the Breath Weapon attack first. 20 hp cold dmg absorbed by Aakif’s spell:

Roland: 11 + 10 - 20 = 1 hp damage

Ash: 11 + 10 - 20 = 1 hp damage. @Ash, if you think I’ve miscalculated, please let know.

Aakif: 11 + 10 - 20 = 1 hp damage

Ali: 11 + 10 - 20 = 1 hp damage. Ali’s fatigue causes his Reflex save to drop by 1, but he makes both saves regardless.

Arnthoth: 23 + 10 - 20 = 13 hp damage

Jerevyx screams in frustration as you all survive her pets’ avalanche of ice largely unharmed, thanks to a bit of luck and Aakif’s faith in the Sun goddess.

We’ll now resolve everyone’s Round #1 actions in Initiative order.

@Roland The ‘throne-column’ is 20’ high, which means Jerevyx has cover from your bow attacks. Because she is so elevated, I will rule there is no soft cover from Aakif or the large wyrm-critter (not that cover penalties stack anyway).

Only two of Roland’s arrows strike Jerevyx’s arms, crits do not confirm causing her to hiss in outrage. “You dare strike a wyrm-queen!”

@Aakif, The first magic circle has expired, because of the length of time it has taken you to reach the cave mouth. From your post, I understand you would prefer to get a second magic circle vs evil up in preference to any other action.

Hoping their current enemies are also evil, Aakif calls on the Dawnflowers’s protection once more! A shimmering circle of sunlight manifests around Aakif, Ash and Roland.

@Ali, To ensure your spell is in range AND because I think you’d want to if you knew the spell was going to be up, I have moved you 10’ (20’ with Difficult Terrain) into the magic circle. Oppressed boredom is cast as a standard action.

So enraged is the Northern barbarian to be facing an enemy from the Realm of the hated Witch Queen, his axe drops the already wounded blue beast like a winter fir tree.

I think you guys have a long weekend? I am going to delay Arnie to keep us moving.

Roland and Ash ready their shots.

Ali hears the captivating song, stands and moves towards the rope at the base of the cliff. CLW spell isn’t cast.

Raging Arnie Will: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11

Similarly captivated, Arnthoth double moves towards the sound of his mistress's voice, climbing the dais to be by her side.

Raging Arnie Climbs the dais: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25

The surviving ice wyrm rises from the ice drift, flinging powdered snow over Arnthoth, as he sleep-walks towards his dream girl.

The enraged dragon-kin ROARS as it charges headlong at Ash.

The gnome calmly raises his hand sending a firebolt straight up the ice lizard’s snout into its brain. Dead before it crashes to the ground, the beast’s momentum keeps it sliding towards the Firestarter, finally coming to rest at his feet.

The icy slush before the raised throne melts and waterfalls quietly over the edge of the cliff. Difficult terrain is gone.

Still lost from sight, Jerevyx stops singing and casts a spell as you hear a rough, scraping sound like something is being dragged across the raised platform.

Yikes! We can't let her put Arnthoth in one of those costumes! He would be ridiculed for eternity! I wonder if those women in the picture are further back in the cave and in need of rescuing?

"I have some ideas too, Jerevyx. All my ideas that end with you surviving begin with you letting our friend go. What do you say? I would also appreciate it if you do not speak ill of the goddess again."

Aakif is not planning on using a combat action for diplomacy, just talking to our opponent to see her reaction.

Aakif's face looks weary and serious for a moment.

"Of course I love her. She is the reason that I am alive.

No one can be as pure as a goddess, but with every day of service to Sarenrae, a little of the darkness leaves me. You are right - we are kindred. That's why I am giving you the second chance that was offered to me. Stop attacking us. Stop preying on the centaurs. Imagine the good you could do in Sarenrae's service. If you know Sarenrae, then you know my offer is genuine... and you know that if you refuse, that we must remove your darkness from the world."

At this point Aakif believes his companions are not in immediate danger, so he will devote his full round action to diplomacy. Taking 10 would be 27, but I (or you) can roll if taking 10 is not an option in combat.

Volfie takes hold of the rope in his sharp teeth, shaking the hempen cord (with magician attached) like it’s a donkey rat. (fluff)
