Chak is signed in. He's currently sitting at 1 xp from level 9, but I'm planning on playing him twice at a local con at the end of February so he'll be level 9 when this starts.

Chak can cover a good number of roles. He can fight, especially up close when he can strike vital areas, he has trapfinding skills, he can talk his way out of some situations or maybe he talks so much that people eventually become confused and just give in (Orator feat), and he can even "cast" spells, assuming he has the right scroll for the job (Esoteric Linguistics feat).

I’ll post the ground rules now in case there are any questions. If you have gamed with GMs like DebugAMP, Hmm or Shifty there shouldn’t be any surprises.

⛺ Please make it obvious what buffs you have active and what your AC is.

⛺ I will roll group initiative and track character actions. In the example below, the PCs highlighted in bold text can post actions in any order and I will adjudicate those actions in the order they were posted.

You can delay to a later position in the initiative sequence, as usual.

1.) Seren is a Spirit Dancer, so unlike a standard medium she actually has a mechanic similar to if you combined Barbarian rage with bard song. She dances as a free action and chooses her spirit then, and after she stops she has a 1 minute cooldown before she can dance again. It basically means I can choose roles combat to combat, and anyone close to her gets bonuses based on the spirit just by being near rather than participating in a seance.

2.) She has haunt channeler, which means she can't be surprised by haunts, and can get a free attack in on them in the surprise round that lets her ask them one question. (They choose how to answer). It also gives her the choice of choosing to fail the save against it if it goes off, which lets the haunt possess her body, but it can't trigger its effect on the party.

Gajutai is a Spell Warrior Skald of 7th level

1) He sings the Song of Weapon, which enchants all the allies weapons in the 60' radius with a +2 enhancement bonus, or some weapon magic keywords from the list if the weapons are already magical. There is a bit of table variation with it, on whether each affected ally gets a choice of effects, or if the song bestows the same on all. I usually play with "all get the same" and the usual ones are keen+shocking or some other elemental damage one (I assume that at this level most of the allies already have a +1 or +2 weapon anyway).

2) Additionally, everybody whose weapons are affected by the song is benefitting from the Spirit Totem (20% miss chance for any ranged / reach attacks against them) and Lesser Spirit Totem (enemies adjacent get attacked by negative energy wisps using Gajutai's CHA+BAB for attack and 1d4+CHA mod for damage). It's usually 4-6 additional attacks, not very damaging though. At the IRL tables, I usually roll those.

3) He's got Improved and Greater Counterspell that allow him to counterspell just by using the spell-slots of the same level. But it's unlikely to ever come handy.

1) With regard to Weapon Song (Su): and who chooses the enhancement bonus, I agree with your interpretation that (as decided by Gajutai):

I would say if Gajutai does choose special ability equivalents of +2 (like keen+shock in your example), your allies would need to possess a magic weapon with at least a +1 enhancement, in order to participate in the Weapon Song concert.

2) Thank-you for advising me about the effects of Spirit Totem and Lesser Spirit Totem on allies participating in the Raging Song.

• Do you plan to track your rounds of Raging Song in your header?

• You might need to remind me about the 20% miss chance for Spirit Totem, for ranged and non-adjacent melee opponents on ‘concert participants.’

• When you say “It's usually 4-6 additional attacks” that’s assuming you plus 3 to 5 allies are participating in the Raging Song, right?

Regardless, I agree that it is easier for everybody if Gajutai rolls any Lesser Spirit Totem attacks.

Lathlo’s combat posts might be a bit long and complicated, but I’ll use spoilers to cover conditionals to keep it as clean & short as possible. And I’ll begin spoiler efforts with this long post

Beating out the goodness:
Like his goddess Sarenrae, Lathlo believes you can find goodness in even the darkest of hearts, though sometimes you have to knock some sense (& fear) into them in order to bring out their goodness.
So his default attack is to swing for nonlethal damage and attempt a free intimidate check via Enforcer feat. Relevant links to explain shenanigans:
Blade of Mercy trait removes penalty for swinging nonlethal with lethal weapon. Adds +1 to nonlethal dmg
Enforcer Feat Allows free intimidate check when striking for nonlethal. If successful, target is shaken for # of rounds=nonlethal dmg
Thug (Rogue Archetype) Thug has 2 relevant class abilities: Frightening which increases rounds shaken by 1 and allows to give target frightened condition instead of shaken if you intimidate them for 4 or more rounds (i.e. pretty much any time intimidate is successful with Enforcer),
Brutal Beating:can forgo 1d6 of sneak dmg to apply Sickened condition: CANNOT be used with Enforcer (no sneak dice can apply when striking for nonlethal with lethal weapon)
Intimidate Skill DC of intimidate check=10+HD+Wisdom Modifier (NOT Will save, WIS mod)
- Also, Lathlo has a boon that allows him to ignore size penalty when making Intimidate checks. Can PM a pdf scan of the chronicle--let me know.
- Lastly, there’s swashbuckler Menacing Swordplay (i.e. make intimidate check as a swift action if damage foe). This can be used when doing lethal damage, though that’s a normal check (i.e. Enforcer doesn’t apply, so need to hit DC +10 to be able to Frighten)

Other stuff
- Controlled Bloodrage (just boosts one stat +4, usually Dex. No Will Save boost, no AC nerf, can still use mental skills, etc)
- Celestial Bloodline: when raging, weapons are considered good aligned.
- Swashbuckler stuff: Parry and Riposte (and combat reflexes, of course), Dodging Panache, Kipup, does +5 Precise dmg
- EVASION
+2d6 sneak dmg
- his adamantine scimitar is both furious and Cruel

OK, Lathlo looks to be built around reducing melee enemies to blubbering, frightened messes, seriously in need of rethinking their life choices.

I have played with a highish-level inquisitor of Sarenrae with a similar concept, but Lathlo is like that guy TURNED UP TO ELEVEN!! ;)

During combat, can you please indicate the condition Lathlo is applying to the baddies, DC to avoid it and duration of the effect?

How do you plan to handle your parry/riposte rolls during combat?

The swashbucklers in Riptide & Antonella’s In Wrath’s Shadow game placed theirs under a spoiler tag, which seemed to work quite well.

But if you have a better way – no worries!

I don't think even potent magical sleeps, like Sleep Hex and such, can't be broken by what Seren just did. If it didn't help, than you certainly've got yourself some golden poison in that waterskin Lathlo.

Hope the party'll forgive the wanton use of Intimidate to influence attitude. Often too risky to break it out when Diplomacy might do the trick, but seemed low risk here. Not like he's going to complain to local authorities and get us in trouble, and Venture Captains are used to his griping anyway...okay, perhaps Lathlo finds the thought of the VCs getting an extra helping of gripe from Bestah a bit amusing... (And if it messes up any secondary success, Lathlo is Grand Lodge and can fix it for the party)

Shoot, that "Geography and Wildlife of the Mwangi Expanse" description really hits the suspension of disbelief kinda hard. Would Gajutai know the author is a Pathfinder? That is kinda getting meta. And if he is a Pathfinder, than what is this tome's worth at all, if it is a first edition of the book by somebody who's still alive and active?

Active conditions:

1) Blistering Invective reads "When you cast this spell, make an Intimidate check to demoralize each enemy within 30 feet of you. Enemies that are demoralized this way..." so that at least ought to override the default description of Demoralize action in the description of the Intimidate spell. I read it as them only needing to hear at and to be in range.

2) I didn't realize those were person-high obstacles, and not just table-high book postaments. If they were not, I am sure at least Blue and the Mirror Image caster would have line of sight on me.

3) Can I ask Chak to 5'-step down one square than if it invalidates all of my move and he still has the ability to do so? Or can I cast something else instead.


Hi Gajutai,

1. As you wrote, the Intimidate check to demoralize comes first. If they can’t clearly see you, you can’t demoralize them and the rest is moot.

2. Ahh … I can see how you thought the things that are library bookshelves were library tables.

3. Chak did not post that he moved. However, because you thought the bookshelves were tables, feel free to redo your standard action.
