Checking in with my regular avatar (I play Kiboko).
I have an actual Lion Blade character (not the prestige class, just the vanity) but he'd be high tier, so if we want to do this low tier I'll bring someone else, maybe Kiboko. I get the feeling knowledge skills might be important in a Library though :)
Thanks for setting this up Kramac / Yogadragon.

PFS #:133462-12
Faction: Sovereign Court
Day Job:Perform Act: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
I am playing Rhinshin in the other game.

I'm in! Thanks, Kramac!
Dotted and deleted in the Gameplay thread...
Kiboko |
Let's stick with Kiboko then. I may run this one myself at some point and put the chronicle on my Lion Blade PC. I haven't read the scenario, it's still sitting in my downloads.
Player: supervillan
Character: Kiboko
PFS #:75577-6
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Day Job: (hunting lodge vanity) survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
There's a possibility that I might make a faction card roll instead, it depends on what options I can fill out at the end of Consortium Compact.
The Maiden of Gold |
Player: chadius
Character: The Maiden of Gold
PFS# 133608-4
Faction: Exchange
Day Job: Profession (Burglar): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
I may spend my GM Reroll if I don't use it during the campaign.
I'll have more info available once we finish the previous scenario.
Kramac |
My plan is to finish this up by June 5th when the Cosmic Captive event starts.
Oret Terra |
Player: Batpony / Tim P
Character: Oret
PFS# 222036-6
Faction: Silver Crusade
Day Job: NA
Kiboko |
I'll have a little shopping to do with Kiboko before we start proper. Probably just a +1 cloak and a masterwork hooked lance. I may also have my first GM star and a GM reroll available after tomorrow :)
Kramac |
We have a bit of time before any combat or whatnot starts, so take your time. I also need factions for everyone, if it's not already there.

I think mine's there, but I'm Grand Lodge...
Got a question on purchasing magic armor or weapons. I've been reading on forums and the PFS Guide and want to make sure. Is there a gold limit on how much you can spend depending on your fame? Is there a fame limit on what level of magic items you can purchase? Was considering trying to upgrade my MW studded leather to +1 via spell service and wasn't sure if it was allowed at this point...
Syl'las Morbos |
Yes you can upgrade you masterwork item to a +1 by paying the difference in cost. +1 armor and weapons are always available unless outlined in the the guide.
Yes there is a fame limit which is in the guide to organized play.
All questions can be answers on pages 19 and 20 of the Guide.
Flyndyngylyn |
Thanks. Looking at the guide, I was thinking I'm short one fame point but wanted to make sure.
Got 8 fame...total cost is 1,175 gp...already have the MW armor so it'd be 1,000 gp. Since I'm less than 9 fame, max I can spend is 500 gp so looks like I'll have to wait till after this scenario, providing I survive it...have I got that right?

There is a list of things you can buy regardless of cost. +1 armor and weapons are both on that list, so you can get it.
Flyndyngylyn |
Thanks, 'preciate the help...I'm going to have to read the PFS guide much more carefully as I keep overlooking stuff...

I'm happy all of the PfS info is in one place, but that guide isn't organized in the way I would think about it. I wound up copying the Fame -> Item Cost information and sticking it into my GM profile so I wouldn't forget:
Minimum Fame Required -> Maximum Item Cost
Under 5 -> 0 gp
5 -> 500 gp
9 -> 1,500 gp
13 -> 3,000 gp
18 -> 5,250 gp
22 -> 8,000 gp
27 -> 11,750 gp
31 -> 16,500 gp
36 -> 23,000 gp
40 -> 31,000 gp
45 -> 41,000 gp
49 -> 54,000 gp
54 -> 70,000 gp
58 -> 92,500 gp
63 -> 120,000 gp
67 -> 157,500 gp
72 -> 205,000 gp
76 -> 265,000 gp
81 -> 342,500 gp
85 -> 440,000 gp
90 -> 565,000 gp
94 -> 680,000 gp
99 -> 800,000 gp
By the way, you can upgrade numerical bonuses (like a +1 Longbow to a +2 Longbow) by paying the difference- you don't have to sell the old one to buy the new one.

As I understand it, you can upgrade more than just numerical bonuses. As long as the new item has all the same abilities as the old item, you can upgrade it by paying the difference in cost.
For example, you can upgrade a Belt of Dexterity (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/a-b/belt -of-incredible-dexterity/) into a monkey belt (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/a-b/belt -monkey/) for the difference in cost.

Thanks for y'all's help with my magical weapons/armor questions...
Artus Finardian |
Having done a mission on Sunday with Artus. I used a few wand charges and my curelightwounds potion which I replaced. Saving for mithral chain shirt.
Artus is now lvl 2 rogue with combat trick weapon focus his ecb along with it being masterwork now.
Kiboko |
There are a couple more spells i can think of that might be useful here, maybe on a wand?
Or sift
i can only use the last of these three. Anyone with a decent umd score?
The Maiden of Gold |
My UMD is +7, and I know Heightened Awareness. I don't think you will need the other two spells often enough to put it on a wand.
Kiboko |
I think you're right. I'm kind of tempted by Heightened Awareness for Kiboko. In two hours I'd burn through 12 wand charges (maybe more if there's combat).
Kiboko |
I've bought a +1 cloak of resistance, and I've applied a convention boon to Kiboko. The boon is "loci spirit ritual: spirit of bounty". Kiboko can take 10 minutes once per adventure, at the beginning of an adventure, to invoke a powerful beneficient spirit. The spirit blesses a meal (this only helps Kiboko); the meal grants Kiboko a +1 sacred bonus to saves vs fear, poison, and any effects that cause the fatigued or exhausted conditions, for 24 hours.
The Maiden of Gold |
A wand or scroll will be great for you, if you know you're looking for something.
Flyndyngylyn |
Artus or Syl'las should probably grab the potion of invisibility...
Kiboko |
Flyn, to use a scroll (without UMD) you need to have three things. 1: have the spell on your spell list; 2: have the requisite ability score to cast the spell (ie your casting stat needs to be high enough to cast spells of the relevant level); 3: have a high enough caster level OR make a caster level check when you use the scroll.
Flyndyngylyn |
Thanks, Kiboko. Think I'm good on the first two, but I would have to make a caster level check. You're much better off with the scroll...I had forgotten that you had multiclassed as a Hunter when I asked the question in the IC...
GM Batpony |
My understanding and ruling has been Paladin/Rangers have no caster level until 4th and you need a caster level to make a caster level check. Ergo, you can't use scrolls.
Flyndyngylyn |
Ah, that makes sense...so I'm guessing the difference between scrolls and wands is that with scrolls you're actually casting the spell and with wands you're just activating a stored spell (but still must be of the appropriate class to activate)...
The Maiden of Gold |
Right. So Flyn, you can use a wand of cure light wounds as soon as you get one, but you can't use a scroll of cure light wounds until level 4, when your caster level is 1.
Compare this to a fighter, who must have the UMD skill to activate either.
Kiboko |
Is the Maiden joining us on this adventure?
The Maiden of Gold |
Yup, she'll be here. I was debating switching characters, but Batpony mentioned he would bring his cleric of Abadar.
Kiboko |
This might be a silly question Maiden, but can you see the gameplay posts? I think I saw in another thread that there might be a problem for some users.
Flyndyngylyn |
That happened to one guy in another PbP I'm in...the Gameplay thread didn't show as having new posts in it...
The Maiden of Gold |
Oh, did you start already? It wasn't clear, and it won't show the Gameplay thread until I click on it.
And of course the site is taking its sweet time to open the page.
Kiboko |
Yup. Not very far in yet so you can definitely catch up.
Kiboko |
OK folks, if we want Pass Without Trace for the whole of our time in the library, that's 12 person-hours we need to cover. With only caster-level 1 scrolls, we'd need 11 more. That'd cost a total of 275gp. Split between us, that's 45gp and 84cp each.
Alternatively, a wand would be 750gp or 2PP, but somebody would have to pay that themselves and would keep the wand afterwards.
I'm up for doing the scrolls, does everyone else agree though?
Oret Terra |
I'm not sure how to spilt cost for tracking, I suggest everyone purchase their own scrolls. It'd be neater. 25 per scroll so 50 per person.
If the group would like to go secretive, i'm ok with doing so. RP wise though, Oret would think it's unnecessary since we're not "breaking" the law.
Kiboko |
We were given one scroll, so only need 11 more. Split the cost of 11 scrolls between 6 of us it'd be 45gp plus 84cp (which technically is a few coppers more than 225gp). They'll all be used up. You could round up to 50gp I suppose.
I take the one free scroll as a hint that covering tracks is important :)
Flyndyngylyn |
That's OK by me if that's what the group wants to do...I'm hoping the card illusions will be enough to keep 'em from finding us out before we get back. Would we actually need 'em for the entire 2 hours or just to cover our tracks leading to the secret door in the restricted room? I'd guess the Lion Blades might frequent the forbidden part of the library enough that our tracks might not be distinguishable from theirs...
The Maiden of Gold |
I would have bought the wand, but it's not on the bard spell list. 11 castings is just asking for me to roll a 1 on the UMD check.
I'll gladly chip in and buy the scrolls.
Kiboko |
We've got a full party of 6. We were given one scroll, but each scroll only works for one hour for one person.
GM_Yogadragon |
As this is my first time running something on PbP, I am very interested in your feedback at the end. Please take not of things you like / don't like as we work our way through the module. And if there is anything so egregiously bad that you think it should be addressed immediately, go ahead and post it now.
