That is going to provoke an AoO if the shadow has acted or had Combat Reflexes.

I think that roll is enough for Tecolote to know about the incorporeal nature of the creature. If so, he will warn everyone else that they need to attack with magical weapons or pour holy water on it. Otherwise, we can retcon this attack to be an ineffective swipe with his wakizashi.

Yes that is enough to know about it being incorporeal.

Wow, we are getting pummeled in this adventure. I'm three more strength damage from becoming a shadow! GM, can I check that the shadow is only down 2 hp and not 3 hp (taking every hp we can). I don't think its half damage for holy water although there may be some other effect going on that I'm not aware of!

Tecolote's voice comes out in a rasp, like he is barely able to move his vocal cords. "Has to be magical Bolger. Otherwise, your weapon will pass right through." For a moment, he pretends the holy water flask is not quite empty and fakes another splash at the shadow, but at the last minute he steps back and retreats all the way to the hallway. You can barely hear his words in the room, but he adds "Not abandoning you, but if it strikes me again, I'm doomed. I have a spell that should affect it from a distance."
Withdraw action to corridor beyond the room. Hoping it doesn't follow and I can hit it with disrupt undead next round.

Bolger moves in and swings his Morningstar at the shadow. The Morningstar passes through the misty creature as if it were the air itself, not affecting the shadow at all.
Sial calls Orza to flank him as he charges his club with a burst of energy. The club slams into the shadow as it leaves a gaping hole in the creature.
Aparctias conjures up some more strong winds as the winds pass harmlessly through the shadow. It was a miss so that is just flavor text
Tecolote tactfully withdraws from the battle into the corridor.
The shadow claws out at Sial as it growls at the club that just injured it.

Aparctias conjures up another bit of wind in the corner of the room. Spider webs blow all about.
Tecolote steps up to the corner as he fires a ray of positive energy past Orza and into the shadow. The shadow has another small hole blasted into it's side.
The shadow continues to claw at Sial but misses him as part of it's tendril is missing.
