"I do not like this. We should've taken the incense as what was part of the agreement." he states whilst on the ship and looking out. At the checkpoint he raises his eyebrow and looks over to the group "Let us get this over with. I hope these men do not cause us any problems."

Bulgo grins.

"We did take the incense that was part of the agreement. And we got their horses back for them as well. "

He looks at the men on the docks.

"They look big and tough, and I'm guessing there are more we can't see. Lets try to avoid a fight, I don't want to spend the rest of this trip dodging city guards."

"True, those couple of horsemen back on the ship were enough of a nuisance. We're not fit for a entire city guard platoon."

"My name is Sun Cheyeng!" the officious man announces when you dock the ship. "I demand access to your ship. Your cargo is subject to Lingshen’s tariffs. In order to properly tax your cargo, I must assess the value of the goods you're carrying."

Getting slightly annoyed with the man, Theron draws his bow and aims at the man's privates.

"Another mungo rudely wanting access to the ship?
Piss off, we've been beset by raiders and i'm NOT in the mood for any more of this nonsense! You want access? Come back with the warrent carrying the mayor's seal."

Sun Cheyeng takes a step back when Theron tells him to piss off.

"How dare you talk to me like that?!" he replies with raised voice. "You will pay for this insult!"

What Bulgo's says doesn't change Sun Cheyeng's attitude. "It's too late for regrets!"

The two border guard in the front release arrows at Theron, but both arrows miss the halfling.

The third border guard then moves past his allies and shoots another arrow at Theron, who steps aside and causes this arrow to also miss him.

"Not again!" Negi mutters as he draws his bow and fires at the nearest guard.

Bulgo sighs as the situation turns ugly.

"I was hoping for something a little less directly confrontational..."

He takes out his sling and hides.

Aiming to sniping this time as I think we have discovered that Bulgo and missiles without = no damage

Rolan draws and loads his crossbow, swearing under his breath

Negi also shoots an arrow, which buries itself in the arm of the nearest guard.

Bulgo takes out his sling and hides, using Theron and his roc as cover.

Rolan draws and loads his crossbow, swearing under his breath.

Sun Cheyeng takes out a tanglefoot bag and throws it... somewhere near the anchor... He then takes a 5-foot step back.

Considering the ship's supposed to be docked, and the guards' tactics also seem to assume this, I extended the dock on the map a bit.

The three guards drops their bows and draw short sword as they move forward.

Acrobatics Blue, move through S'arkee's square (DC 15): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

The blue guard looks for a way to move past S'arkee, but can't find any. Stuck where he is, the blue guard readies an attack.

The green guard successfully moves past Jon and now flanks the wolf with the blue guard. It's now that the blue guard attacks Jon, and stabs the wolf in his side. The green guard also attacks Jon, but Jon dodges the second attack.

Acrobatics Red, avoid AoO from Jon; DC +2 for trying to avoid a 2nd opponent's AoO (DC 17): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

The red guard successfully moves past S'arkee, but provokes an attack from Jon. The wolf fails to bite and trip the red guard, but the guard freaks out by the wolf's sudden attack and messes up his own attack on S'arkee.

Seeing the situation has deteriorated fast, Bulgo moves up behind the guard in blue, drawing his daggers as he does so.

Then, with the guard distracted he tries to stick his knife in the mans back.

attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 <- bah. Hopefully no dex bonus as flat footed, but even that is unlikely to be enough

S'arkee feels quite uncomfortable being trapped here between these guards, but it appears they do not see him as a threat which was their mistake.

He looks to the blue guard, gives a lipless smile and then stares deep into his eyes.
"I'm not interested in your secrets, but I'll give you one hell of a headache." he states as he begins to claw information into the man's mind though his mental powers.

Brain Drain: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 Will DC 15 negates

I'll leave it up to the GM what info I might get if he manages to have any interesting info. It says I grab random info for a knowledge roll, but I'll leave it up to the GM to decide what info I might get, if anything useful.

Theron fires a shot at Sun Cheyeng and takes him out. His roc has a harder time landing a hit on one of the guards, but eventually hits with one of its claws.

Rolan fires his crossbow at blue, but the crossbow's bolt bounces off of the guard's armor.

Bulgo reveals his location the moment he steps out of the cover he had, causing his target to notice him. He tries to stick his knife in the blue guard's back, but once more an attack's deflected by the guard's armor.

Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

S'arkee probes into the blue guard's brain, hurting the man in a way he did not expect. During the brain drain S'arkee sees flashes of a terracotta army. S'arkee learns that the guard will fight to the death, knowing that he'll join the terracotta army if he dies here.

"Get away from my partner! Negi cries as he drops his bow and pulls out his hammer. He takes a swing at the nearest guard(blue) as Jon bites at the man on the right(red) before stepping to the side.

Negi drops his bow and takes out his hammer. He takes a swing at the nearest guard, but his misses. Jon his better luck, and bites one of the other guards in his ankle.

Bulgo evens the odds for S'arkee by stabbing the blue guard twice, thus taking the man out.

The green guard pulls out a potion and drinks it. Negi tries to hit him again with his hammer, but misses. Jon, however, bites the guard in his leg again.

The red guard withdraws from S'arkee. He moves past Rolan and down the ship's west stairs, onto the main deck. There he moves into flanking position with his prone mate.

"Get him!" Negi yells, pointing at the last guard. Jon swiftly turns and bites at the man.

Theron moves up to the western stairs and shoots an arrow, but misses due to his target being in melee and moving around too much. His roc bites the red guard and disables him.

Both S'arkee and Rolan attack, but fail to hit their targets.

Negi steps over for a better angle and swings at the green fighter, hitting him in the head and taking him out. Jon swiftly turns and bites the red guard, who was already disabled. The wolf drag the man down and takes him out.

Combat over!

Theron pets the roc.
"Good girl, yes you are."

He turns to the others.
"These mungos in these parts sure are an impulsive bunch.
Picking on the little folk, is what it looks to me."

"Lets clear away these bodies, tie them up and take them below. I want to know why they attacked us like that. I don't think it was just your bedside manner..."

He looks around the docks, wondering how much commotion the quick battle caused.

"I really don't want to have to fight through the city. "

Slapping his forehead, Bulgo climbs down and heads off to the crank that seems to secure the iron chain across the river mouth.

"We, of course, may need to take an alternative route back..."

S'arkee nods as he listens to these plans being brought up.
"We will have to move quickly. I don't like what's going on here." he states as he looks over the scene and helps with the tying and moving the men down below.

I have been making my PFS characters on Hero Forge and I just made S'arkee.

Agreed. I don't know what caused this whole thing, but I'd rather get out of here before it happens again.

You drag Sun Cheyeng and his guards down below and tie them up. After this you briefly leave the ship to disengage the crank handle, which lowers the chain and allows your ship to pass. A moment later, you're on your merry way again.

Time for an interrogation?

Bulgo taps his fingers.

"I'm maybe not the best person for this. Want to try your bird trick again?"

Theron would catch another fish, if there's time, the bigger the better.

When Cheyeng comes to, Theron would be feeding the roc another juicy fish.
"Hey there mungo bigshot, are you feeling more polite?
See, i'm not very happy with river pirates attacking us during our trip, even less with border patrols who are looking sort of suspicious. Now why don't you tell us, in a proper fashion, what this is all about. Because if i'm not amused, like my friends, i'll have my feathered friend do the same thing to you as she's doing to that fish over there. They are carnivorous after all." *Points at roc pecking out eyes of the fish*

Bulgo alternates tossing a dagger up and down and then having it land closer and closer to the various captives but saying nothing.

However the demonstration ends with the dagger sticking into his hand when he misses a catch.
"ouch!"

Negi turns from watching the remaining guards. "Seriously, Bulgo? Leave this to a professional." he says as Jon growls at the man.

"If you give me a moment, I could dig into his brain and make him talk like I did earlier." S'arkee states as he leers at the guard.

intimdate Aid: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

"Aah! No, no, no! Please don't!" Sun Cheyeng yells. "Lingshen wants the braid! The braid of a hundred masters!"

The guards give Cheyeng hard stares, but the scared man continues to talk: "It's to win Quain's support against Po Li! We're simply his humble servants, who search the ships that pass for the braid!"

S'arkee gives a lipless smile to the rest of the group and decides to let those more capable to continue the interrogation.
"It appears you picked the wrong vessel, but we are not vengful people if you are willing to co-operate. Do you know anything about the storm that happened in the nearby town?" he asks as he grasps onto his symbol in a similar manner as earlier when using his ability.

Bulgo pulls the rest of the team to the back of the boat for a quick conference out of hearing of the captives.

"This guy doesn't know who we are, or who we work for. He does know what we look like and what our ship looks like. We'll have to come back this way with the braid. I for one would prefer to not have a nasty reception crew waiting for us. Can you mess with his mind S'Arkee and make him think we were those raiders that attacked us the other day?"

Bulgo looks over at the water going past.

"We can't take him with us. We don't have the food and I'm not keen on murder. And anyone in the town will be looking for our ship when we come back..."

"That's easy, we strap him to a log or floater and toss him overboard.
He'll not sink, have the water current take him to other lands."

Bulgo pulls the rest of the team to the back of the boat for a quick conference out of hearing of the captives.
