Negi draws an arrow and fires it at the leech, hitting and hurting it.
Rolan continues to steer the ship while drawing his crossbow.
S'arkee draws his shield and morningstar.
Theron is annoyed by the enemy and makes it known.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
The giant leech moves over to Theron and bites him. It immediately latches onto Theron and automatically grapples the halfling. Once its stuck to Theron, the leech sucks away some of his strength.

Aw hell..
Btw, how long is the stairs, 5ft up, 10 feet up?
Since....i'm at the upper part of the ship and it at the bottom of the stairs?
"Get yer filthy jaws off me!!"

"Girl, kill this thing."
The roc attacks the leech.

The stairs on deck are about 2ft up. You can use them for a high ground bonus, but that's all.
Theron cannot escape from the giant leech's latch, but his roc quickly comes over and heavily wounds the leech.
Bulgo draws his knives as he walks up to the giant leech. He cuts the creature and drops to the deck.
Combat's over!
Five days later you finally reach the Sea of Eels. By now everyone's fully healed, just by resting properly every day.
The waters of the Sea of Eels are very different from those of the Tuunma River; since the large lake has no viable current, the Laughing Crow must rely on its sails and the wind to propel it along the water. Since there are virtually no obstacles that might impede the ship on its journey across the lake, you will no longer have to worry about steering the ship.
At the end of your first day of travel on the Sea of Eels:
in the distance.
Bulgo Bluefoot |
Bulgo stretches, enjoying the relaxing nature of the voyage.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
"Beautiful Sunset everyone...looks like someone else is out enjoying it too."
He points out the other sails.
Rolan Sunsearcher |
Rolan becomes alert, scanning the horizon, Here's hoping they're friendly. It'd certainly be a nice change.
[ooc]Which way is the ship facing if it's close enough for us to see?
S'arkee The Sickly |
S'arkee puts away his morningstar, but keeps his shield up just in case.
"Let's see. Remain cautious, but best put your weapons away just in case." he states simply, looking over to where Bulgo was looking.
StephNyan |
The ship that you spot north of yours doesn't approach. Not yet.
On the morning of your second day on the Sea of Eels, the light of dawn reveals a ship some six hundred feet to port and fast approaching. Its banner bears a single upthrust spear, and its golden sails sparkle in the morning sun.

"Lingshen..They also search for the braid. I wonder why they decided to aim for us - there must be other ships on this sea. Perhaps we should have changed course once it was dark."
He again retreats to a hiding spot, getting out his sling.
S'arkee The Sickly |
Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
S'arkee watches as the ship approaches.
"We could run or confront them. Convince them we don't have it or deal with them as we did his men earlier." S'arkee states with the shrug.
Bulgo Bluefoot |
Bulgo does his best to hide the braid, just in case it does come to that.
I'm not sure what skill this would be, but I have stealth at +14 and selight of hand at +10 and should be able to have enough time to take 20 on the check.
Theron Keenfoot |
Theron had stood at the upper front of the ship.
"Fancy sails on that ship.
Well we could try to run, but their boat seems to go faster than ours."
StephNyan |
@Bulgo: Sleight of hand could be used to hide the braid on your body, but you don't have enough time to take 20. The enemy ship will reach yours in 4 rounds, which gives you less than half a minute to quickly hide it. You can't take 10 either.
@Negi: If you want to ready a throw with that thunderstone, for when the enemy ship's within reach or next to yours, could you include the rolls?
Bulgo Bluefoot |
Bulgo first hides the braid on his body.
sleight: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Then, he takes his small little body to the best hiding spot he has spied in his many days of avoiding work on the boat, and hides himself as well.
stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Negi Othollo |
not yet, unless combat is inevitable. He will throw it at the first sign of imminent danger(hand reaching for a weapon, for example). That said...
Slight of Hand: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Negi tries to palm the stone, though it appears to be a bit large for his hand.
StephNyan |
The Lingsheng ship continues to close in and slowly turns so it's behind you. It continues to close the distance between you and eventually sails starboard. The ship moves up next to yours and hooks are thrown out.
Four individuals then emerge from a door that likely leads to the enemy ship's lower deck. One of them, a woman, wields a scimitar. The others look like monks and hold no weapons.
Meanwhile Bulgo's found the best hiding spot on your ship, where he hides with the braid.
Rolan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
S'arkee: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

@Bulgo: If you decide to come out of hiding and want to participate in combat, go ahead and roll initiative.
Bulgo Bluefoot |
When he realizes that a fight is happening he'll emerge, so probably in round five after the thunderstone goes off. At the least he should get a sneak attack in
init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Negi Othollo |
Calling Jon to his side, Negi winds up and hurls his Thunderstone into the middle of the group.
Thunderstone: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Jon circles around S'arkee as the resounding clap goes off. Negi mounts his canine steed and prepares for battle.
S'arkee The Sickly |
"I wished I invested in some-kind of summoning magic to keep these people off us." S'arkee states as he looks to the fast-approaching ship. "Let us keep them off. I cannot fight these people off with my spells." S'arkee gets his crossbow out and begins to load it.
Bulgo Bluefoot |
Keeping hidden, Bulgo will wait until one of the people on the ship is within thirty feet and then launch a sneak-sling bullet before retreating back into cover.

Rolan raises his shortbow and fires at the woman with the scimitar,
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
So because I'm an idiot, I didn't even realize till now that Rolan has a shortbow instead of a crossbow, so his bow magically transforms into the right weapon. Sorry for the mistake, I have no idea how I got confused like that.
Theron Keenfoot |
I can't forget my roc.
The bird strikes back in retaliation.

Rolan raises his shortbow and fires at the woman with the scimitar, but his arrow bounces off of her armor.
Theron also shoots an arrow at the woman, and does hit her. His roc retaliates versus the monk that just attacked it, but doesn't get a single hit in.
S'arkee attacks, but misses.
Negi calls Jon over and mounts him.

Round 5
Bulgo, hearing the sound of the thunder stone going off, realizes that combat has been joined and his friends will need him. Quietly he emerges from his hiding place and starts to make his way up the ladder and into the upper compartment. He waits just behind the door for a moment, trying to get a bearing on where everyone is.
Round 6
Opening the door, Bulgo sinks his knife into the enemy he encounters on the other side...

Confirm crit, Rolan: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Rolan hits the monk in blue with an arrow.
@Bulgo: There's no door north of the trap door, just a wall. What you probably mistook to be a door was actually a set of stairs, on the other side of that wall. You can reach the enemy though, if you move outside through the door north of the number 3, so I'll move you there.
Bulgo reaches the main deck and moves up to the woman. The woman sees Bulgo coming, but isn't able to avoid his attack.
Theron shoots the woman with another arrow, while his roc inflicts some grievous wounds on the monk in red.
Negi draws his sword and issues a challenge, after which he stabs the woman in her chest. The woman's scimitar drops from her hand and she falls onto the deck.

Theron shoot s an arrow and takes out the red monk. (Redirecting roc's attacks to nearest target.) His roc takes a 5-foot step south and tears into the blue monk, who's barely left standing.
Bulgo feints, and tricks the green monk into thinking there's someone behind him. The green monk shows an opening as he tries to see who's behind him, and Bulgo sinks his dagger into the monk's stomach. The monk coughs up blood and falls to the ship's deck.
Rolan shoot again at the monk in blue, but misses his target.
(Redirecting the actions of Negi and Jon to the nearest enemy that's still standing; blue.)
Circling around Bulgo and S'arkee, Negi and Jon strike at the blue monk. Using his nine-ring, Negi takes his target out. Jon then bites the blue monk for good measure.
With all the enemies already down, S'arkee makes a practice swing with his weapon.
Combat's over!
The remaining sailors aboard the enemy ship, the Hailong, surrender as soon as they notice their leader's defeated.
S'arkee The Sickly |
"Give me the encrypted book. I'll give it a good look over when we get back to the ship." S'arkee states as he holds his hand out "I have some skill in attempting to solve encryption."
Seems I was wrong. It's possible for detecting forgeries and making them, but doesn't say anything about encrptions or not so I'll leave it up to you. Linguistics.
Negi Othollo |
While the others search the ship, Negi ties the woman and her men up with their own ship's rope, and drags them back to their own vessel. He takes their weapons and gear, however, just in case they decide to try again later.
"Yours, I believe." He says to the crew. "Do us a favor and don't try this again."
Theron Keenfoot |
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Muhahahaha
Theron looks dead cold serious at the woman.
"Well lady mungo, here's the deal.
I by THE GODS KNOW have a rea~~lly short span of patience this trip, my promised boat ride being extremely interrupted several times now."
He shakes his head, as he has his arms crossed.
"Girl, come."
With the roc hopping closer, inspecting the 'new mungos', Theron closes the distance between his face and hers, to continue his point.
"Either you tell me what THE HELL, is going on, or i could start feeding your toes to my bird. She's not been fed yet.
After the 10 toes, you have fingers, ears, eyes. You get the picture, right?"
StephNyan |
"Lingshen wants the Braid of a Hundred Masters!" the woman yells in panic, looking absolutely terrified. It's to win Quain's support against Po Li!"
"No ships other than our own are supposed to be on the Sea of Eels right now. That you're here means you've somehow passed our blockade on the river and that made us suspicious. That's why we attacked your ship!"
S'arkee The Sickly |
"Who is Quain? And for that matter, who is Po Li?" asks Bulgo, rather impressed with Theron's shakedown technique.
hopefully not related to Lo Pan
S'arkee leers over at this woman and gives a lipless smirk.
"We managed to subdue your friends and make our way here. Now please, can to inform us if there are any more of your people waiting for us? If you lie I will know and I can dig into your mind and my friend here will not be very happy." S'arkee says, referencing Theron "But if you co-operate with us, you won't come to any harm."
