Someone call for a diplomacy trained person?

Grand Lodge

Was thinking more along the lines of the generic masterwork tool options. Something that might work only vs politicians, for instance... not that someone would want to throw money at that... Heh.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

It is indeed, a +1 breastplate! =)

Do we need to coordinate the rescued slaves from the ship showing up, or are do they already know when and where to be?

Seems like there's not much left to do but to wait til tomorrow morning otherwise.

So, my diplomacy is +9 and Chyras is +8. However, if I sit back on support, and keep popping him with enhanced diplomacy that'll give him a +10. I propose we go with that!

Can we grab the now imprisoned dhampir captain and crew, or at least one of the city guards who we turned them over to as evidence?

I say if he is available we bring him.

"Our case will be best served by zhe witnesses we bring as anything we say will be met with zhe skepticism by zhe locals . "

I tried to combine your plans in the following post. It's completely up to you to decide who speaks, but I'll make the rolls. Everyone may aid, and make it known if spells are being used. (Keep the audience in mind when casting spells openly...)

@Milo: I can't just create items while GMing PFS. It's not allowed.

During the afternoon the party visits the prison, but the dhampir captain's not handed over to them. "Of course we're not handing over prisoners to you!" one of the guards says. "They're in prison for a reason. We won't just let them out."

When you visit Jarovar's shop there's no sign of the half-elf. You figure he fled after you let him leave. You're unable to find him.

You're easily able to track some of the actors you rescued from the ship, and some of them agree to come with you to the speech. They agree to meet you the following morning, at the building where the speech will be given.

Before the evening falls you arrive back at The Captive Audience. This is where you spend the night. (Unless there are other plans?)

The Unveiling

The special legislative meeting that Dorianna Ouidda herself called to order begins promptly at 9 a.m. on the third day of the adventure. Many of the most prominent politicians in Andoran are in attendance, and rumors fly about the crowd outside the palace of the Grand Council that the Supreme Elect, Codwin the I of Augustana, may even make an appearance to hear Ouidda’s oration. You are permitted into the upper balcony of the legislative chamber where you find several seats in the front row, overlooking the main floor. After the routine opening remarks from a court bailiff, Ouidda takes the floor and flies almost immediately into an embittered and passionate speech about the Pathfinder scourge within Almas.

You can jump in at any time, though the longer you wait the more difficult it will be to convince the Council of your evidence.

I suggest starting with Branson and Chyras as the primary speakers and the rest of us supporting ( avoid using spells). Jump in early with evidence of the papers found, the letter, the freed slaves and end with the Doppler.

Roland stands up from his seat and turns to Branson and Milo, in outrage at the false accusations being made by the spider.

Ok, here goes nothing.
Btw, can Fillian provide testimony?

HOLD IT!:

OBJECTION!
AS he just drew attention, he looks around the present audience.

"Ladies and gentlemen of de Grand Council, Supreme Elect Codwin the I of Augustana. I 'ereby put fort arguments against Ouidda's false claims, meant to discredit de Pat'finder Society."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
"Shop keeper Analis told us of an old 'alf-elf, named Jarovar. Accordin to 'er, he’s just set up 'is investment establishment in Almas, but 'e refuses to subscribe to any of de merchant guilds in de city and 'e only deals wit' a few clients who get small contributions from 'im, one of whom is supposedly de Spider. 'e makes, as we saw followin dat tip, odd ventures out of 'is shop in de dead of night, well after closing. He told us 'e supplied a Dhampir ship 'e said was a slaver-ship."
Probably some accusation from her part...
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
[b]"De city guards can confirm de claim of de rescue. I would not make dat claim if it were not true, one would get arrested for it, non?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
"Dus, to counter your accusation, i call fort' de captives from de ship named The Sailswift. Currently docked and captained by Ruovarn Krillis, currently locked up in de jail. De city guards can confirm dis." Chyras lets the convinced actors do the word, then takes out the letter they recovered and asks the last to talk to read it out loud, so as not to throw suspicion of himself making stuff up. "I stron'ly suspect, dat if miss Ouidda writes de same text, de 'andwritings would match."

Her argument, next part.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
"Upon followin' de next lead, we came 'ere, De Captive Audience.
A most peculier greetin' we received, from a radder rude Senlokto-imposter. De state of de stage will confirm our claim of a struggle, 'e started usin magic to keep us away. Upon defeat, de figure turned out to be a doppelgan'er."
We brought him with us, yes?
Provided we brought the doppelganger along and he changed into another humanoid, Chyras asks Alanya to knock him out, so that the audience sees him turn into his "natural" self again.

Cue her talk, on to our next piece.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
"Wit'in de office, we came upon a letter to de doppelgan'er."
Again he lets one of the actors read out loud.
"Thank you. Any of you who is linguistical can confirm the 'andwritin on bot' dese letters match."

" 'ereby i would add the initials and de sharp tone of de Spider match dose of miss Ouidda. What do you 'ave to say for yourself miss Ouidda, or shall i say Spider of The Shadow Lodge?"

The mechanics of the 'speech encounter' rely on a series of Diplomacy checks, each check made in secret by me whenever you draw upon a piece of evidence against Ouidda. Succeeding on the Diplomacy check means that the Council was convinced of the legitimacy of the claim. In all tiers, it requires a DC 20 Diplomacy check to convince the Council of any piece of evidence, constituting a success. You can attempt as many Diplomacy checks as you want within reason, each time presenting a different piece of evidence. Each piece of evidence grants a bonus on that Diplomacy check and, if successful, all subsequent checks as well.

Milo's not the type to assist in any sort of diplomatic endeavor... but since this seems like this might benefit more from a mob mentality perhaps he can help with a few timely comments to get emotions high. =)

Milo offers up a few comments as Chyras gives his speech, mostly shouting out accusations or inflammatory commentary when appropriate, then doing his best to duck back into the crowded gallery between each.

Quote:
He told us 'e supplied a Dhampir ship 'e said was a slaver-ship.

"Was enchantin' innocent people right out of the streets and straight into the body pens! Took us til dawn to clear the hoodoo from their minds! Who'll they hex next!?"

Quote:

"Spies and throat slitters, the lots of 'em! Will steal the secrets from inside yer head, murder yer friends and take their places if you let 'em!"

heh... a room full of politicians are the last folks who want something that can read thoughts in a room with them =)

DOH!

@Branson: You could've made a new post in which you said things? :o

While interrupting the regular proceedings is normally grounds for immediate removal from the Council meeting, those who make accusations against Ouidda are allowed to at least say their piece as several senior members of the committee find their curiosity piqued by your claims and demand evidence before completely dismissing the interrupters.

Chyras' mention of Jarovar doesn't leave much of an impression, as Jarovar's not present to back the story about him up.

With some aid from his allies Chyras informs the Council about what's happened on the Sailswift. One of the former slaves steps forward. "These people speak true. We were charmed at the Captive Audience after auditioning for roles, and then taken aboard the Sailswift to be sold as slaves!"

Several members of the committee start talking among themselves, shocked to hear this. Quidda tries to interrupt Chyras before he can present the note she wrote to Ruovarn, but one of the senior members of the Council silences her. "Show me this note."

The senior member takes the letter and reads it. "This sure looks like your handwriting, Quidda... And the Spider's signature is at the bottom!"

Upon seeing the doppelganger more people start discussing among themselves. The doppelganger glares at Quidda, but doesn't speak. It's not changed shape. However, that doesn't matter much: Roland mention of the doppelganger infiltrating town, and Milo's mention of the dead Senlokto spread doubt and fear among the audience.

The letter addressed to Yero, the doppelganger, seals the deal. "Your handwriting again, Quidda!" the same senior member announces, and he chimes in with Milo: "Or should I say Spider?!"

The chamber bursts into chaos, and the president of ceremonies bangs his gavel, demanding order. Ouidda's escorted out of the courtroom by two guards, and the legislature comes up to you. "I want to thank you for your service to the city! We will investigate this further, and Quidda will face trial."

When the meeting is adjourned shortly thereafter, the Council members recess to their respective chambers. As you exit the legislative hall, you notice a crowd amassing in a side hallway around the bodies of the two guards who left with Ouidda. A trail of bloody footprints leads toward Quidda's private office and quarters. A bailiff sounds the alarm, calling for more guards. He then walks up to you. "Please pursue her, before she destroys any evidence in her office!"

Final Act: Ouidda’s Personal Quarters

Double doors lead into this large, opulently decorated room, a holdover from the palace’s former use as home to Andoran’s now defunct aristocracy. Intricately woven rugs cover the hardwood floor, and plushly upholstered furniture graces two distinct sections of the room. Bookshelves line the walls of the eastern half, while a small wet bar and decorative tables fill the western portion.

There's no sign of Quidda.

You can try to give the subject orders, but you must win an opposed Charisma check to convince it to do anything it wouldn't ordinarily do. (Retries are not allowed.) An affected creature never obeys suicidal or obviously harmful orders, but it might be convinced that something very dangerous is worth doing. Any act by you or your apparent allies that threatens the charmed person breaks the spell. You must speak the person's language to communicate your commands, or else be good at pantomiming.

"Bloody blower dropped the hoodoo on Kavaki!" He says in annoyance, before muttering some more arcane words and touching Roland.

Cast Protection From Evil on Roland... Don't want him charmed too.

"Should keep you on our side for now. Do down on that prig!"

Unfortunately, its a touch spell (was why I went adjacent to Roland), and Kavaki's a ways off to try to free him up

Kavaki, her instructions were in the post where she charmed you. ie: Keep them (the rest of us) from getting closer to her.

Ouidda's suggestion to Kavaki: "You, boyo, keep them from getting close to me!"

Charisma, Ouidda: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Oh dear... Well, at least she didn't tell Kavaki to hurt anyone while keeping them from getting close ;)

Milo casts a spell on Roland to prevent him from suffering a fate similar to Kavaki's.

Turn progression - round 2:
Milo
Roland
Kavaki
Ouidda -23HP

Kavaki's up, followed by Ouidda.

Heh... sadly, Kavaki's the perfect person to prevent us from approaching! She targeted just the right guy!

Say, is Ouidda wielding a weapon or wearing armor of any noticeable sort? Or is she just going to beat us down with honeyed prose?

Ouidda wears a chain shirt, though it's barely visible below her clothes. She carries a sheathed rapier on her hip.

Yeah, but I notice Roland seems to be doing a good bit of buttkicking without getting close to her, so Kavaki is doing what she asked.

Kavaki moves to the middle of table a couple squares away from Ouidda and guzzles the potion (potion of enlarge person) he grabbed from his bandoleer, and immediately grows to large size! Now able to reach from one side of the room to the other and 10' in front of him, he will attept to trip anyone who provokes an AoO, while trying to get by him to Ouidda!

"It's too dangerous my friends, you MUST stay away from her!"

"You're a very persuasive man Kavaki. We'll just stand right over here shall we?"

Merely the faintest hint of danger directed at him would snap him out of it.

Ouidda moves slightly south, and casts another spell. "Stay away from moi!"

Saves:
Alanya: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Milo: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Roland, save 2: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 = 7

Alanya and Roland feel drowsy for a moment, but shrug the effect of the spell off. Milo falls asleep. "Ah non! Just him!"

Spellcraft DC18:
The spell Ouidda cast was Deep Slumber.

I know pvp is forbidden, does that forbid me to try to Daze Kavaki so we can get to the hag?

Um... Deep Slumber, like its lower level counterpart, Sleep, is a full round casting time.... shouldn't go off so quickly, less there's something else going on, should it?
