Belvica closes toward the boulder at shoots at the bandit hiding behind it. Mazon pulls a bolt out and loads it into the crossbow she's just retrieved. The creature hit by Bevlica's arrow screams and throws a spear back at her, but he falls to the ground instead. As if on cue two other spear fly from two other boulders north of the water.

Tugo was too distracted by the mixture of awe and disgust at the beauty of the oasis and the trash that littered it to comprehend Tenaka's shout at first.

Tugo draws a weapon and tries to get a bead on one of the gnolls. Tenaka rushes across the sand for better positioning as Sir Willem closes on a gnoll. The sand shifts under his horse's feet and his sword fails to connect. Belvica's second arrow flies into the scrub the gnoll emerged from but leaves the bandit unharmed.

Bashing away the spears with his shield, Ser Willem pulls back the reins of Destrier so that he can trample the gnoll underneath his hooves as the knight errant's sword swings down at the creature's head.

Belvica's arrow finds a mark and she drops a second gnoll to the sand. The third bandit, realizing he is alone, flees.

An archer or the mount could chase the gnoll down if you would like, combat is effectively over. There are two on the ground.1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

A marker about 100 feet west of the oasis matches the description in Grandmaster Torch’s notes. During the hour before dusk, the setting sun’s light causes a weathered hieroglyph depicting an arch to glow. Even as the sun sets, the long shadow cast by the stone never shifts, always pointing to the with exactly the same bearing.

Dusk is required to get the final directions, so you have a couple of hours to wait and rest. Fortunately the great speed with which you crossed the desert grants a chance to read more of Amenepheous notes and to recover from the journey. Mechanically this translates into a bonus on the later skill checks. Is there anything else you would like to accomplish in the meantime?

With the last gnoll gone or killed by the valiant cavalier his attention shifted to the oasis and it's surroundings. Ensuring that Waylander and his mount were looked after before making a quick scouting circle around the oasis to see if there were anymore surprises waiting for them. If none would be there he would setup a small camp out of the sun (if possible) before going over the notes and resting for a bit.

Once dusk would approach he would pack everything up and get ready to watch before making the final decision on where they would have to go or what action they would have to take.

Should any of the other pathfinders want to talk or take a seat next to him he would welcome them and start a friendly talk with them, his eyes however would always dart around, looking for trouble or changes in their surroundings...

After seeing the last gnoll get dealt with, Mazon checks the bodies of the gnolls to see if they are carrying anything useful. After that she will sit or stand with Tenaka looking over the notes, making small talk about their companions.

The gnolls maintain a poorly hidden cache of stolen goods near their hiding spot. In addition to a silver cup worth 60 gp and a hodgepodge of coins, their ill-gotten gains include alchemical supplies from Thuvia that consist of an alchemy crafting kit, a vial of antitoxin, and two flasks of alchemist’s fire. Each gnoll has leather armor, a heavy wooden shield, and two spears.

Perception DC 15:
after an hour the first gnoll downed wakes up. An hour after that the second gnoll wakes up. Both are unable to do much more than stir.

A couple hours after combat the sunset hits the marker whose strange shadow doesn't shift. It points the pathfinders to the next leg of the journey. The remainder of the trek through the desert proceeds uneventfully, with only the rise and fall of the dunes to break the monotonous couple of hours. A low, uneven hill of granite appears on the horizon to the northwest, presenting the only shelter for miles around. Although the crag appears solid from a distance, on closer examination there is a wide fissure in the rock sealed by a heavily weathered stone wall fitted with a large iron door.

The archway’s ceiling contains a recessed inscription in Ancient Orisiani that has avoided the worst of millennia of erosion.

He watched the gnolls as they slowly regained some semblance of conscious and motioned to them for a moment "they are recovering..." He wouldn't make any attempt to either subdue them or kill them. Once they would be ready to move he would follow the new path till they got to the door. He frowned for a moment as he watched the scribbelings on the door and then shook his head "I have no idea what it all means..."

"I'm not even sure what language that is...looks very old though." He thinks for a moment, petting Lotti's hot feathers, "Even if it says, 'Keep out lest you be eaten' in abyssal, we don't have much of a choice. It's either take a chance on the cave, or die of dehydration and heatstroke for certain." He looks around, "Shall we?" He says as he and Lotti trot forward to inspect the entrance.

The gate is closed and seems to be in working order. Sand has piled up in front of it however and will take some muscle to open. Belvica searches the doors carefully and finds not hint of danger.

The wind gusts about this small courtyard, filling the air with fine grit. Corpses litter the area, little more than bone and desiccated, leathery skin. A dry well occupies the center, surrounded by the remnants of an outdoor market, though even the best tent is tattered and leans precariously. To the east, a set of low steps rise to a set of stone doors surrounded by symmetrical wall carvings of pharaohs. Stairs to the south ascend to the outer wall.

Belvica takes her rope and grappling hook out of her rucksack and tosses them to the top of the rock and climbs 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 to the top.

Tugo dismounts Lotti, and attempts successfully, I imagine to climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11 the rope Belvica used. Lotti tries to climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 up the rock herself to follow her rider, and succeeds at making it to the top.

Once they both surface, Tugo remounts Lotti, and they descend the stairs. "Mind the well," Tugo says, remembering a run-in with a large snake which had taken refuge in an unused well back home, "no telling what's asleep down there."

He and Lotti search the first tent for anything of interest.

He watched the rest get ready to scale the wall and then looked at Waylander and Ser Willem. "This will be more then interesting..." He regarded door for a moment. "Time to use our muscles and get that door open, else our mounts and companions won't be able to join us, and I am not going to leave them out here like that..."

After clearing the other side, Belvica sees the 50% elf have problems with the gate and decides to push after those who chose to climb, climb and then gathers her rope and she pushes the gate from the other side giving him some help.

"Thanks for getting the door, Belvica." Mazon says as she strolls on through the door, looking around. She casts detect magic as she slowly walks toward the stairs.

Climbing down from the gate top requires a small drop. The top of the steps lead toward a small room inside the wall, over the gate. It has a door at the other end. The wind kicks up, blowing sand around. Everything in the courtyard becomes hard to see. Things more than a dozen feet away seem little more than dark shapes in the dust cloud.
There is a room inside the wall, above the gate, below where you climbed over. Visibility in the courtyard is 10 feet. If your in, please update the map (which steps Mazon?). Ironically the one who did not visit the well doing Torch's favors, is the one to worry about what might be inside :)

Tugo finds the remnants of a shop stall, but nothing more than a tent pole remains whole. Mazon's search reveals nothing special about the former merchant's courtyard.

Seeing that she is almost surrounded, Mazon yells "Help me!" She tries to cast chill touch defensively. DC for me is 17.
Concentration: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
The spell fizzles out, causing her to lose that spell for the rest of the day. She then takes a 5 ft step away from the zombies...hopefully.

Taking a 5 foot step he knocked an arrow and let it fly at the nearest zombie, at the same time Waylander just decided to shred, or attempt to do so, the same zombie.

Core Helms ! Wizards Wanted Gameday X

Mazon casts a spell and her hand grows blue with the cold. Belvica charges into a zombie slicing the beast wide open. Blood and pus fly everywhere with a loud squelching pop. Everywhere includes the dwarf's face, getting into her eyes nose and mouth. She coughs the phlem back out a sickly green gob splattering the sand next to her.

Tugo's spear misses the second zombie, but Lotti's claws dig deep furrows. Waylander closes and claws at the same beast and an arrow flies over its shoulder to puncture the zombie. It explodes spreading green, black, and bits of former traveler on the three. They shake off the worst of it and concentrate on the fight at hand.

Sir Willem answers Mazon's call and gets between the witch and the zombie, but his sword fails to harm the threat.

The zombie swings at the knight. and another closes with the halfling.
