Lucy looks to Grey for instruction, seeing her human quiet was a somewhat unnerving too her. He was never ever really quiet, even in the dark when he was drooling on himself he managed to sound like a batch of newborn piglets.

Lucy decides its best to remind her human why they are here and begins headbutting Grey's leg with increasing intensity.

This probably pushes the limits of actions of a animal companion can take on its own free will. Feel free to use your almighty powers to wave it away.

On the one hand, the rules would probably say Lucy should attack the enemy. On the other hand, I could totally see a companion animal doing this. I'm going with the ol' 50-50 die roll.

10+, she wakes you : 1d20 ⇒ 3

RIP. You can try again next round.

Vogue and Grey stare at the creature, dumbfounded by it's appearance and visibly shaken by it's moaning.

Reaper and Pazacku are both surprised by the creature. It is unlike anything they have seen before, though it is obviously an incorporeal undead. Reaper, clutching his holy symbol of Torag, asks for divine intervention.

Will Save : 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25

Unfortunately, Torag must be at his anvil for he is not with Reaper. The ghostly figure shrugs off the holy light, continuing to moan.

Will Save : 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 = 16

It seems this must be some bastion of evil. When Pazacku approaches the shadowy figure, it screeches when touched with the light. However, it resists much of the holy power.

Meanwhile, Lucy sits and stares at her master. Grey... wake up...

Reaper, you're right! I got mixed up. Same result, in this case. But good to know!

Incorporeal :

...It is immune to all nonmagical attack forms. Even when hit by spells or magic weapons, it takes only half damage from a corporeal source (except for channel energy). Although it is not a magical attack, holy water can affect incorporeal undead. Corporeal spells and effects that do not cause damage only have a 50% chance of affecting an incorporeal creature. Force spells and effects, such as from a magic missile, affect an incorporeal creature normally...

Grey and Bennybeck sit there, listening to the haunting words. Lucy looks on, curious what game they are playing.

Meanwhile, Reaper manages to get in and connect with the frightening ghost. It's mumbles turn to screams of pain as more shadowy wisps are knocked from its being.

" Ah... well, I'm glad you didn't have to... ummm... sacrifice yourself, Vogue. That would have been... quite the sight. Thank you for returning the gold. That will help us in the auction. " She clears her throat. "Now, I'm afraid I have another task for you. This one closer to home. "

" I think we got lucky with our merchant friend, Falrig Sneve. He mentioned that he was trying to conserve funds for the auction, so we sent him an invitation to stay at Haruka House on the grounds of our manor. If you have yet to see it, Haruka House sits alone on the west side of the main house and is the most luxurious of the four Thassilonian cottages on the property. As far as I can tell, Sneve suspects us of no foul play. " She pauses and smiles. "  Still, we can’t have him mucking up the auction, can we? Thankfully, I doubt we have to do much. Ensure no actual harm comes to him, though, as such would refect poorly upon Heidmarch Manor and the Pathfnder Society. Rather, somehow trick him into believing the Runecarved Key is cursed and he should withdraw from the auction without any further urging. I would imagine some magical effects combined with some well placed comments would do the trick. " With that, she dismisses you.

Heading to the house on the other side of the property, you can see Falrig through the front windows. He is alone. The house looks very nice, like everything else of Sheila's.

"Our tastefully lovely and gracious venture captain mentioned he was a merchant, he's out to reign in overspending, and he accepted her offer to stay in a guest cottage here on her estate. From that last bit, I'd wager Sneve has a comfort level he is accustomed to. What else can we conjecture and extrapolate?"

" An artifact! " The gentleman claps his hands in excitement. " That is far preferable to new towels! Though, I still need those. By the way. " He grabs the parchment and begins perusing it. " Ah... yes! The Key! It says that it is... oh. Oh my. " His face goes grey. His hands shake, still holding the 'artifact with care. " Did you read this? It says the key is cursed! I recently bought a cursed artifact and... well, let's just say my love life has never been the same. " He looks at you all, trust in his eye. "Do you think this could be true? The key is cursed? "

it might be cursed or it might not. I think sometimes people say things are cursed even if they arent too keep nosey people from getting to them but if you had it in a collection, people probably would not want it because, you know, its CURSED he says.

The aging man begins to shake. "I couldn't do that... couldn't run the risk of carrying another cursed item. " He looks at Bennybeck with worried eyes. "Who wants to purchase artifacts from a merchant with that kind of a track record? Never mind my poor... " He looks down and shakes his head sadly. He shakes his head with an air of finality. " No. I will not be a part of this auction. Tell Sheila that I will no longer be needing those towels. I will be leaving this city at once. " Finally, he smiles. "Thank you for bringing this to me, young man. Quite kind. " With that, he closes the door.

Another success!

The group takes the short jaunt back to the mansion with a bounce in the step. Nothing like scaring a paranoid man to make you feel good about your job! ;)

Sheila greets you with a warm smile. "So, how did it go? Is he backing out, or will we have to take other measures? "
