Well then!

Without climbing up on the roof, and remaining in cover on the ladder Saarai sees a guard, crouched behind a small stand and mount for the bronze alarm bell. He is kneeling, with a crossbow in one hand.

Glancing across the courtyard, the tiefling sees the other guard at the far edge of the warehouse roof. It appears the man is going to lower himself to the street below.

Feel free to call anything out you'd like as a free action, but be aware doing so might draw attention to Saarai.

Gruugdúrz pulls the stopper from a foul potion smelling of brimstone and sulfur, and pours the vile concoction down Sidney's throat, telling the unconscious aasimar something in what most would presume to be orcish. Sidney's color improves, and his eyelids flutter as he groans softly.

I'm going to say that the portion gives one hit point on delivery, and 1 hp on Sidney's turn and every turn after, for 10 turns. That puts him at -1. Next round, he'll be staggered and conscious. I will also say that Sidney holds his action to after Gruugdurz, so he gains the better benefit.

Sickly smiles weekly at Miyako, as she tends to some of his wounds, muttering a quite "Thanks", though unable to quite look her in the eye.

Worried about the daemon's words from earlier, he pours the oil from the vial he retrieved onto his hammer, looking around worriedly through red watery eyes.

Unsure if what the critter said was true or not, but just in case, he will apply the oil of bless weapon to his hammer, worried another daemon is about to make an appearance.

"It said there was another coming." He adds quietly to the kitsune, as he tries to wave her back towards the safety of the building, eyes scanning the grounds worriedly for the second daemon.

No problem. I should have pointed that out. I did not.

Miyako casts a small utterance of healing on Sickly, the magical words spoken and lost as the other spells in the last few moments. Sickly quickly applies a silvery liquid, which shines like the sun on a pond, to his dwarven longhammer; the metal strangely absorbs it and gains a soft, radiating glow of ivory light.

"It said there was another coming." [i]He adds quietly to the kitsune, as he tries to wave her back towards the safety of the building, eyes scanning the grounds worriedly for the second daemon.

The still ringing bell almost drowns out the dwarf's words, and adds a very audible, nearly tangible tension to the air as it echoes in the streets.

That brings us back to Saarai. I know that Gruugdúrz plans to cast shield. Everyone else, we're into the next!

Saarai slinks on to the rooftop, cloaked in shadows and aided by the distracting ringing of the bell. She draws back her shortbow and lets an arrow fly. The shot glances off the guard's helm, denting it and startling the man.

Meanwhile, in the courtyard, Miyako invokes another prayer of healing on Sickly, causing wounds to become fresh pink scars and bruises to melt away like a frosted windowpane in the sun.

"Not good. Not good at all," Miyako says, sounding more like a disapproving mother than someone who comments on the current situation. She crosses over to the warehouse to check on Sidney's condition. The smell of the infernal healing potion still lingers in the air.

Gruugdúrz casts a Shield spell on himself, the short, clipped syllables of his abjuration magic sounding more like a swear than the melodious tones Miyako softly spoke.

"Hmph. I should've done that earlier."

Still surging with magical speed, the half-orc races into the courtyard and onto the north wall, scaling it and the short ladder easily, searching for more guards. Arriving atop the warehouse, he sees the lone guard at the rooftop's edge, contemplating the drop below. He looks at the bristling form of Gruugdúrz with sheer terror.

I've moved you in the speediest route to known guards with your rate. I think that'll work, but let me know and we can shift your position without affecting the text.

Sidney coughs and sputters a bit, opening his eyes to see Miyako next to him. He can feel his heart pounding in his chest, and his mouth tastes of ash and smoke.

You are staggered and it is your action, Sidney!

Carrying on.

On the rooftop, the guard staring at Gruugdúrz appears to have lost his nerve. He lowers himself on the edge and drops to the ground below.

It's the sudden stop at the end: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Landing more nimbly than you'd expect for city guard, and perhaps motivated a bit by fear, the man drops and keeps upright. The sound of his boots against the paving stones is quickly lost in the racket of the ringing bell, although Gruugdúrz can see him over the crenellated edge of the warehouse roof.

The guard at the bellstation raises his crossbow at Saarai.

He squints into the magical shadows cloaking the tiefling, and can't seem to get a good bearing on her. His crossbow gives a heavy metallic twang, and Saarai hears the bolt whistle overhead and skitter into the street below. He scrambles, drawing his heavy flail as he stands up and dropping his crossbow on the rooftop.

Terraleon, can you just highlight everyone that's up before the bad guys? Instead of calling us one at a time ... it drags things out horridly. (not that we aren't used to that here by now I suppose)

Sickly, stands, eyes looking everyone, expecting another daemon to have popped in... but none show up and he starts to wonder if his worries were unfounded.

He lets himself relax slightly.

Delaying until something happens ... though staying near Sid and Miyako in case it happens here.

He does drop out of rage, however... so will be fatigued for the foreseeable future.

Sorry about that. Honestly, this is my first PbP where I'm running the combat, but it's coming along, I think.

"At least the bell's not ringing anymore!" she says wryly.

The shot hits the man in the hip, sinking in deep and he lets out a yelp momentarily overwhelming the fading resonance of the bell as a crimson stain spreads out across his pant leg. His face goes pale grey beneath his beard and he drops his flail, turning to hobble for the far side of the rooftop.

Miyako places a hand, enveloped in the orange hue of one of her healing spells, on one of Sidney's wounds. Over the course of several seconds the torn tissue of Sidney's muscular body is knitted back together.

It's been a comedy of errors this last few weeks, but I'm sorted now, and good for the next few rounds-- I've mapped out my actions, so that should help.

Even with Sidney's soft chanting and the barely audible, fading hum of the bell, the tension in the air is palpable.

Sickly frowns, sniffling slightly, as he wipes his nose on the back of his sleeve.

"We shouldn't stay here." He mutters quietly, his breath coming in wheezing gasps. "If there is another one, it will probably show up here first. Where the first one stopped"

"And what are they going to do to the Wardens with the alarm ringing? We need to find them?"

The last guard on the roof attempts a fast hobble to the southern edge of the building, leaving a bloody right footprint every other step. He reaches the edge and appears to be trying to safely jump down to the alley below...

It's that sudden stop at the end: 1d20 ⇒ 2

But he slips, while attempting to lower himself to the edge and ease the drop. With a terrified cry of fear, he falls, off balance.

Ground, meet Guard. Guard, Ground: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9

That cry is cut short, however, as you hear what sounds like a wet burlap bag of fruit hit the flagstones below and the definite crack of a breaking crossbow bolt, followed by a low, wet moan that gurgles a bit.

Taking advantage of the secured space, Saarai then creeps to the edge of the structure's roof. From there, she sees the courtyard where you entered is clear, and the guards' gatehouse appears shut tight. She gives a short wave to Gruugdúrz. The half-orc is at the edge of the warehouse roof, as well, scanning the empty courtyard and sealed gatehouse from the other vantage, his face twisted up in a look of anger, as if he meant to scare someone.

Those two guards are inside the structure, and the structure appears all closed up to both of you. You would need to descend to the doors to tell more.

Inside the warehouse, however, startling events unfold as a strange, flame-red scaly humanoid with faceted insect eyes, four arms and twitching, fanged mandibles suddenly appears next to...

Odds, Sidney; Even, Miyako: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Miyako! It's claws outstretched, grasping for her, it grabs ahold of the kitsune and bites her with its horrible, toothy mandibles, dripping with a foul mucus...

Kitsune, it's on the menu!: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
bite damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Miyako, I need a Fortitude save, DC 16. You are certainly welcome to cry out, as a free action, as you so desire. That hits your normal AC, much less a flat-footed one, so I presume it's going to bite you, unless I've missed something.

Even as she fights the effects of the bite, Miyako throws a forearm to break the creature's grasp on her shoulder and cuffs the dome of its eye, causing the otherworldly marauder to let go of the oracle's cloak and step back, though still within reach of both party members. It's mandibles seem to work unconsciously, opening and closing-- almost in time with the working talons at the end of all four arms, which grab at the air before the creature, menacingly kneading the air, waiting for something to get within reach.

This is also Knowledge(Planes) to identify this creature. Feel free to roll.

Sickly gives a small wail, as his new friends get attacked as soon as he leaves them unprotected! Gasping and wheezing he rushes back over to help, pulling what looks like a long segmented metalic arm as he goes.

All I can do is double move, drawing a weapon as he goes.

"Leave them alone!" He shouts angrily, but the menace in it is lessened by a sudden congested nose making the words come out slightly mispronounced.

And as much as I look, I cannot find a frequency for that poison in the PRD or errata. I will allow another save with a DC 16 Heal check from another PC, or an antitoxin. The antitoxin will not require a check and will provide the +5 alchemical bonus to the check. Spell effects which would affect a poisoned state work normally.

He begins to step back about 5 feet to put some distance between him and their new foe--the magic potion seems to continue to knit Sidney's wounds. Alright, a little late, but very long, soooo here we go!

But the xill's multiple arms and scales seem to deflect all but one of the attacks.

The first attack hits, the others do not. It takes full damage.

Miyako, still unable to move, watches in horror as the combat unfolds around her...then, from the corner of her eye, she sees it.

Another ceustodaemon winks into being in the courtyard, snarling a a twisted smile at Saarai. It flexes its heavy claws and slams its fists into the flagstones. The daemon stands so close to Saarai, she can smell the scent of wet, rotted meat on its breath, the hint of mildew on its sweaty, slightly greasy fur. "Hello, Lovely," its spoken voice quite intimate and dripping with malice, a smooth, polished baritone, so different from the previous telepathic communication.

Inside the dim light of the warehouse, standing in the space between the xill and the cages along the back wall, a Garundi female appears, having apparently cast a spell. Miyako, realizes what the spell was as the ground opens up beneath her, and unable to
react while paralyzed, she tumbles into the new void. As she falls, she offhandedly notices the cages along the back wall are occupied by huddling, barely clothed people, and the Garundi woman takes several quick steps, putting her back to the warehouse wall and the xill between her and the pit. Sickly and Sidney scramble, trying to avoid falling in with her.

Unless Miyako has an item which automatically activates feather fall, she will tumble to the bottom. Otherwise, I'll need Reflex saves from Sickly and Sidney, DC 17. The pit is 30 feet deep, detailed
here.

The xill lashes out in a flurry of claws and mandibles, attacking the eagles. It seems unaffected by the slope of the pit, hovering just over the magically warped warehouse floor.

Bite, Celestial Eagle tastes like sunlight and chicken: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Bite damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
If needed, Eagle's Save vs DC 16: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Unaffected by the creature's saliva, the eagle flies on, undaunted, and the xill continues its attacks, batting it into the ground.

This shatters the bird into feathers of light, with a sound like broken glass, and the eagle disapates. Its second claw strikes another eagle, pulling it from the air, as well, holding it by the back of the head. The sound of hollow bones cracking is clearly audible.

For f***'s sake! she curses inside her mind. Couldn't she see I'd already stopped fighting?!
