I should really have used that reroll before... With how many scenarios are quite easy, I didn't expect this to turn into such a dire situation. It was quite a wake up call! O_O
Anyway, I'm super glad everything ended well! :)
Sidney Moncrief |
This has been a great group, I hope you will bring me to your next game. Sickly is an amazingly well rounded character for a fighter-barbarian -- I am impressed with his versatility.
Anyway, sorry for starting the near TPK. Sidney would not have began to cast in the wide open with crossbowman with a height advantage in covered positions. The irony was that he did not get a single action after 'casting'.
We need to get to a safe position and rest. We can't save anyone if we are dead. I do have my standard CLW wand.
Sickly |
Ha... you'd be amazed how easy it is to have a decent wis and int score when you dump your Constitution and Charisma to 7 =)
So he had a few skill points to spare on versatility!
To be honest, I didn't expect him to live to level 6 in the first place ... so its all good to me!
------
I can't imagine that fight going much different, Sidney or not.
Once the Daemon got involved, its telepathy means everything else gets involved shortly thereafter no mater what. Especially with a 2nd one that can ddoor around at will to warn everyone else.
Not sure how you do this without pulling everything. Once we're done, I'm curious to scope the scenario out to see where we went wrong.

GM, I went to Saarai first for healing, because she was downed. I purposefully healed myself last. I'd very much like to keep the order I started healing in the same, because I want to get Saarai up and Gruugdurz back to a state that allows him to fill his role as a frontliner.
With Gruugdurz using his potions of infernal healing on both Saarai and himself, and starting at the top of my list, everyone's HP would look like this after 1 minute:
- Saarai 33/33HP (Only 5 of my charges were used on her, instead of 6. I'm therefor scrapping the 6th charge I spent on her from existence.)
- Gruugdurz 43/44HP (Only 5 of my charges were used on him, instead of 7. I'm therefor scrapping the 6th and 7th charges I spent on him from existence.)
- Sidney 11/27HP
- Sickly 30/51HP
- Miyako 13/38HP
To not complicate things to much I'd like to scrap all of the charges spent on everyone else from existence, as it doesn't seem like we have enough time to spend on all the charges. Meaning I'll have spent just 10 charges thus far.
terraleon |
Well, you weren't supposed to engage the guards. That put multiple rounds of crossbow-shoot-out you didn't need. That complicated matters a good deal, distracting your group and splitting resources. There were a couple of tactical choices I could have done differently, and the initial bathhouse encounter shouldn't have be resolved with Intimidation, but otherwise, this is fairly on target for what I'd expect of a sewer infiltration that went south. An infiltration like you'd started, where you masqueraded as buyers...for that, you'd have been brought inside the main structure, left alone for a few minutes as they prepared the product, and that would have allowed you to start this whole thing without having first kicked the hornet's nest. That might have given you a chance to find a Riftwarden, gotten an idea of the opposition and prepared your response before engaging a daemon or more. Once it was apparent you were going with a full frontal assault, they responded with prejudice.

Totally works. We can do that.

Yeah, my skills would have been much better suited to infiltration than full frontal assault.
Gruugdúrz |
Well, you weren't supposed to engage the guards. (etc, etc) …
They started it! A shameless purile fib that wouldn't fool anyone for an instant. :o
Well, okay, Gruugdúrz started it, actually.
But we finished it. Sort of.
Granted, it almost finished us too.
But it was an interesting dust-up, if nothing else.
Gruugdúrz |
Skipping a bit … Meaning I'll have spent just 10 charges thus far.
Thanks, Miyako.
I'll update my HL record of that. That will leave 40 charges in that wand.
Gruugdúrz will want the wand back later.
But you can hang on to it until we're done here.
Sickly |
Heh... every time Gruug posts... his short one-sentance-per-line style has me looking at it, trying to see if its a Haiku or Iambic Pentameter or something. =)
I tell you, your typing style would be perfect for a warrior/poet! =)
Gruug updates his records.
Leaving only 40 charges.
He will want it back later.
Easy!

how'd that comma get in there? =)
Mini-Ode to Punctuation
The comma, it slow things down
The period, it stops them short.
Colons, semi or otherwise,
Precede quotes and lists of all sorts.
The wonders of punctuation,
To clarify meaning and intent.
Mere marks amidst strings of words,
So you can tell what is meant!
Hmm... maybe I need to make a warrior/poet! =)

I meant 10 charges of my own wand, not yours. You've already spent a couple of healing potions, don't hog all the healing glory! :P
I'll hang onto yours and will use it next time you get yourself wounded! ;)
Gruugdúrz |
Wound myself? No way!
Everyone else seemed to be wounding me.
Might have had something to do with me trying to kill them or something.
Some people, eh?
But anyway...
The main reason I gave you the wand is because I don't have UMD as a skill,
so I couldn't really use it myself anyway.
Miyako_Okori |
Woot!
terraleon |
I'm going to be shifting the position of one of the Riftwardens from the base text, should you all decide to read this later on, because I'd remembered putting them someplace else than they ended up in the final text, and it's more considerate to you if I keep them where I thought they were. Shouldn't impact play, but it'll be a discrepancy if you're reading later on. :)
terraleon |
Heh. You're running this based on you're original submission? It could be quite different then!
No, but I forgot to double check one of their positions before proceeding with the action, and it munges with with flow, so I'll stick with my shift. It's less of an issue, but I'm trying to stick to the published version. If we were at a table at a convention, I'd offer my manuscript, but changing things midstream would be inappropriate. This shift won't impact things, it just changes where you'd find one, so, not a big deal.

You have successfully completed Port Godless, thank you for allowing me to pick it up from the other GM and shepherd you to the end. I had a delightful time. If you enjoyed it, please leave a review on the product page here. At this point, I just need to know everyone's factions, and then I need to see about signing chronicles to post for you to pull down. If you've got questions about any part of the adventure, we can carry on in the discussion thread. :)
Woo-Hoo! We done it!
Despite starting a fightMind you, fighting is what Gruugdúrz is all about.
As for other stuff about Gruugdúrz:
• faction: Grand Lodge
• day job: Craft (weapons) +4
• PFS # 146423-4
Day job roll (just in case):
craft (weapons): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
I can't remember whether I did this or not already
--------------------
@ terraleon:
I posted a review there for the scenario.
Really did enjoy it.
Closest Gruugdúrz has come yet to going under in a fight.
Thank you for running it for us all!
Sickly |
Gruug, we did indeed give this information (including day job checks) at the beginning of the discussion thread. (Well, except Sidney, it looks like)
Strangely enough, you rolled the exact same Day Job result then too =)
--------------
From the descriptions, I'm guessing that at least one of those Riftwardens qualify for my faction card goal....
Either the:
"Named NPC aristocrat, noble, ambassador, or similar figure"
or just someone I can reinforce political connections with.
Either way, Sickly will forgo his day job to attempt to make nice with said person and enlist their future help, for the a fore mentioned faction card!
Knowledge (nobility) vs DC 23: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 2 = 26
As for the rest, repeated here for posterity:
Name: Aaron
PC Name: Sickly
PFS#: 84637-8
Faction: Sovereign Court

I've got the chronicle here.
Go ahead and fill it out (or if you can't, send me the values in a PM, and I'll send you a link to the completed form).
And then mail it back to me at: brickk@gmail.com
I'll sign it and send it back to you.
The spellbook isn't listed in the treasure on the chronicle. I'm not sure how that works (but I can find that out for you, if needed). Regardless, these are the spells in it:
4th—crushing despair, dimension door, summon monster IV
3rd—heroism, invisibility sphere, spiked pit, summon monster III
2nd—acid arrow, create pit, glitterdust, scorching ray, see invisibility, summon monster II, vampiric touch, web
1st—alarm, color spray, grease, mage armor, magic missile, protection from evil, ray of enfeeblement, shield, summon monster I
0th—acid splash, daze, detect magic, light
Miyako_Okori |
Gm, just to let you know, most of us posted our info on the first page of this discussion thread. If you want to check our Day Job rolls, they can be found there! :)
EDIT: I can't seem to make this form work... I've filled everything out, but the text just doesn't appear. Sorry I have to ask, but could you please do it, GM? My post containing the required info can be found here.
Sickly |
Ya, I've no idea how this is supposed to work either.
Certainly not as intuitive as one might think.
Sent the info to the email provided.
ps - as to the spellbook, if it is listed in the scenario, then PC's can scribe spells from it (they still have to pay the scribing costs, mind you, and make the Spellcraft rolls (though often they can take 10 and make it))
Gruugdúrz |

(trimming a bit)
You're right!
It was way too hard to look that up before my morning caffeine belt. :o(or something along those lines).
Saarai Shae |
Thanks so much for stepping in to rescue us! Though it almost turned into a TPK except for some truly heroic actions from Sickly and others!
Thanks for the spellbook, too! I'll grab a couple of those spell, I'm sure.
Much appreciated!
terraleon |
So all I did was download the PDF and use Adobe Acrobat to fill out the PDF. Then I signed it. That's all there is too it, nothing else.
Gruug: yours is here
Miyako: yours is here
Sidney: yours is here
Sickly: yours is here
Saarai: yours is here
You get the two Riftwarden boons, and I'm not sure how the faction boons translate now, as the last time I was paying attention, I was an Osirion faction and picked up a Shadow Lodge Signet. I trust you to mark the correct ones.
I will leave them there for two weeks, and then nuke them, but keep them on file. You can mail me offline if you need a new copy for some reason.
-Ben.
Miyako_Okori |
Ah, I thought we were supposed to fill out the sheet while on the site. Thank you, GM! :D
Regarding the faction boons, you get them if the old faction turned into your current faction. For example: Qadira changed into The Exchange and Miyako's with The Exchange, so Miyako gets the Qadira boon.
terraleon |
Qadira changed into The Exchange and Miyako's with The Exchange, so Miyako gets the Qadira boon.
Yes she does, as she interacted with Jahani and established the contact. Everyone met the conditions for these three faction boons, so if they are the faction equivalent, they get the boon.
-Ben.

Either the:

I'm not sure how that's documented, but I would use:
"Lady Jahani Jodinaj, Riftwarden of Azir"
-Ben.

I seem to be missing the Event Code though?
Miyako_Okori |
For every game I run I have to create an event, to actually be able to report the game online.

@ Ben:
Got all that!
Thanks for the GM-ing and everything.
It's been one of the more interesting challenges for Gruugdúrz!
And there was much rejoicing (yaaaaay!)
Seriously, though, this bumps Gruugdúrz up to level 6.
Furthest I've gotten with one of my PFS characters, to date.
Thanks again for stepping in and putting in all the time and effort for us to play this one through!
