Giri takes a 5 foot step and starts slicing with his daggers.

Kendra's attack misses by several feet, but Giri takes out the orc between him and Kyra with a stab in the back. Another stabbity-stab by Giri ensures the red orc won't get back up any time soon.

"Oh my god, he killed Worthag!" the blue orc yells in distress.

"You bastard!" the green one yells at Giri.

The green orc then moves to flank Giri and attacks, but misses when he swings his greataxe in a just marginally less wild fashion than Kendra swung her weapon.

As she points her finger at the orc a small burst of Frost streaks out st the Orc.

Kyra stumbles back from the blow, letting out an involuntary cry as the axe head rushes toward her! Suddenly she blinks... "What the..." She looks around quickly, touching her hand to her neck. 'Am I dead? No... it's an illusion...'

"Everyone, hold! These beasts are just illusions!" She looks around the area, scanning for any magical sources. "I have seen through your magics. Come out and identify yourself now."

"They sure don't hit like illusions!" Kendra says as she circles around then charges from the west at the orc facing Giri, chopping down with her axe.

Giri takes a step south and attacks green, trying for the neck with a ver y quick jab.

Kyra announces the orcs to be illusions and uses detect magic to scan the area. She detects illusion magic on the orcs and her wound, but no possible source.

Kendra attacks the only orc to be left standing, but misses. Giri then moves up to the orc and finishes it off with two quick jabs.

Combat's over!

The orcs fade away, as does the massive wound on Kyra, showing the others in the party they were indeed illusions. Kyra suddenly detects a spike of transmutation magic from behind a distant bush, but the source moves away from you at a breakneck speed.

Kyra suddenly spots the magic and points in the general direction. "There! Quickly now, whatever this is, is moving very fast!" Kyra will attempt to chase after the magical aura until she either loses sight or the others give in.

Kyra finally slows to a stop, breathing heavy in an effort to catch her breath. Sadly Kyra does not have Spellcraft trained. "I would like to know who was behind those illusionary orcs..."

Illusions! I wonder if all of what is happening at the caves is a couple creatures who hide behind illusions... If that is the case, we need to be ready for anything.

After dealing with the illusionary orcs you're able to travel peacefully. You follow the map for most of the day, and eventually the sunlight begins to fade and a cold wind begins to rattle through the leafless forest. There is now no sign of civilization in sight. Establishing a safe camp should be the first order of business, but you'll have to find a suitable site.

This is a stop along the way there. You still have to traverse a considerable distance to reach the Crypt of the Everflame.

Giri scurries off into a tree and scans the surrounding area for a suitable place to stay and points where he thinks is the best place. Being unknowledgable about human habits the place seems a bit odd to camp. Giri keeps to the tree tops, making himself comfortable on one of the tree branches, waiting expectantly for everyone to seek their own.

Giri looks confused, staring at the humans. He nods and climbs to the top of the tree, trying to spot a better camping place.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 I think with 15 I should be able to spot at least a serviceable spot :)

Giri croaks loudly and bounds off through the trees to the next spot.
"Frooorow!"
He waits expectantly to see if this spot is better than the previous one.


You locate a nice level spot, surrounded on three sides by a thicket of bushes. There is plenty of dry wood to be found to start a fire, and the rations can be cooked into a fine stew if everyone contributes. As you're sitting around the camp, you hear howling off in the distance. Over the next hour, the howling seems to grow closer before becoming eerily silent.

Half and hour later, Kendra spots a lone wolf at the edge of the firelight. The wolf realizes it's been spotted.

Kendra quickly informs the others about the wolf, and all but Crystal react fast enough to act before the wolf can.

Kyra stands and draws her scimitar. "Let us attempt to drive the beast away without killing it." She shouts and stomps her feet, hoping the noise will drive the wolf away.

Kendra gets up slowly and lowers her weapon but reaches into her backpack ever so slowly.

It's just a lone wolf. It's probably just searching for food. Hold and no one move.

She pulls out some of her trail rations and pulls out some salted dried meat and walks a few feet forward, very slowly. (about 12ft) and puts the meat down and then slowly walks backwards to the group.

Handle Animal Untrained: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Kendra stands up and shrugs and replies to Kyra "No worries. At least we didn't have to kill it. It probably has cubs to feed or summin."


Crystal's worry turns true when, half an hour later, the wolf returns with two others. All three wolves look very hungry as they emerge from the bushes and carefully approach you.

Giri grabs a net and throws it at the closest wolf, trying to entangle it.

Ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Assuming 20 on touch hits...

The net hits and he grins, the wolf now stuck under the net.

Net:

When you throw a net, you make a ranged touch attack against your target. A net’s maximum range is 10 feet. If you hit, the target is entangled. An entangled creature takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty on Dexterity, can move at only half speed, and cannot charge or run. If you control the trailing rope by succeeding on an opposed Strength check while holding it, the entangled creature can move only within the limits that the rope allows. If the entangled creature attempts to cast a spell, it must make a concentration check with a DC of 15 + the spell’s level or be unable to cast the spell.

An entangled creature can escape with a DC 20 Escape Artist check (a full-round action). The net has 5 hit points and can be burst with a DC 25 Strength check (also a full-round action). A net is useful only against creatures within one size category of you.


Giri throws a net and captures the nearest wolf, which begins to yelp.

One of the other wolves charges at Giri and tries to bite him, but Giri dodges the attack.

My laptop with all my Herolab files died on me, so hopefllu getting it this week then I'll add the CMD and stuff. Sorry about that.

"Gah, gaddamn stupid princess!" Kendra groans as she's getting dragged by the wolf.

"Sorry poochie, I tried to be nice."

Trying not to kill the wolf, she reaches for the club at her waist and tries to conk the beast on it's head to let her go and dissuade it from it's current course.

"Now there. I'm sure there's easier prey to eat out there than us."

Kyra rushes over to help aid Kendra, by slashing at the wolf with her scimitar; however, in her haste she swings too soon and the blade cuts into the earth!

@Kendra: Your profile lists your CMD as 13, so at least I knew what number to use! ;)

An elemental ray shoots out of Crystal's hand and deals some minor damage to the wolf that tripped Kendra. Kendra reaches for her club, which she uses to hit the wolf on its head. Kyra rushes over to help, but is unsuccessful in her attempt and cuts into the earth.

The entangled wolf tries to escape, but only manages to move in a circle around the tree. The net's rope ends up being wrapped around the tree, ensuring the wolf's chance to escape is even lower than it was before. (You can count this wolf out.)
