Samuel Deland |
Becoming frustrated with his inability to fell a single goblin, Samuel swings down again, his eyes narrowing at his goblinoid foe.

Calistan the Wanderer |
Reflex Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
Calistan will move forward and cast Burning Hands on the grouped up Goblins.
Fire Damage, DC 16 Reflex: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Aviendha-RK |
Is it something special the goblin uses to have people catch on fire with a normal burning hands?
Calistan the Wanderer |
Caster with armor and fire spells... probably a Flame Oracle.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Trust what the player playing an oracle tells you ;) ..and yes, someone might want to help Sam ..being unconscious and on fire it's that great for someone's hps
Samuel slices through his opponent while Calistan returns the favor the goblins have been doing for you and sets several of them on fire
Reflex save for the only one that can survive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Two of them join Sam on the floor while the third manages to dodge about half of the sheet of flames
No clue what happend to Merrick..but taking her out for now, she can join when she shows back up
The caster goblin tries to stick Marcel with her spear
To hit Marcel AC: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 but it turns out she's not that good is she isn't using magic
The only goblin left wielding a bow fires it at Calistan before retreating
to hit AC Calistan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 but it seems that being burned 80% throws of your aim and he misses
The other goblin seeing Sam burn on the floor next to him steps past him and starts to join his fellow goblin at a more tactical location
to hit Calistan AC: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Goblins
Calistan the Wanderer |
Goblin* and Goblin0 were both at 5 last time, right? If one of them saved against my Burning Hands, they would be at 9 damage because the save would still deal 4 damage, right?
Calistan will five foot step, draw his wand of CLW and cast it upon Sam Drakenfel.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Calistan dances happily as all of Sam's injuries disappear!
Samuel Deland |
I can't access the map at the moment due to being at work, can anyone tell me if Samuel can get into combat with any of the goblins and if it will need to be a move action or a 5ft step. Ideally he'd like to engage the caster.
Calistan the Wanderer |
5' Step for the Caster. Moved you into position.
Revvy Bitterleaf |

Those 2 goblins died, but I don't have enough different mark thingies which are easily distinguishable and can be made with a keyboard so I had to reuse a few of them, sorry if they led to some confusion
Calistan heals Sam (who's still on the floor and burning, but on the up side..might as well use the +2 bonus for rolling on the floor to put it out now ;)
While Samuel steps up to engage the caster
Samuel Deland |
Cheers Calistan
Engaging the caster, Samuel hopes to draw his ire from his allies.
Masterwork Longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Aviendha-RK |
Aviendha walks towards the caster and throws her throwing shield against one of the goblins in the room so she can use her sword without and issues.
throwing shield: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
But it hits the wall beside it.
When she ends up next to the caster Aviendha yells as she brings her sword down.
"Ah we meet again you little punk! TASTE MY SWORD!"
attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10
dmg: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
Bah there goes my epic payback attack
"Damn you tiny little shit. I WILL cut your head off." She frustratingly calls out.
Sam Drakenfel |
Sam rolls on the floor desperatly trying to put out the flames in his body.
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 2 = 17
Aaaaaarrrrrgghhhhh.
Thanks, I needed that.
...cough, cough, cough...
And when its done he gets up as best as he can.
And there you go. A perfect kodak moment strait to the gallery of "the most dignified moments of my adventuring career". Btw thanks Calistan, your a life saver, literally.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Marcel misses his target and the goblins strike back in return.
The one still carrying a bow fires at Marcel to hit Marcel's AC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 hitting for Damage for Marcel: 1d4 ⇒ 1 before the one carrying a sword rushes over to try to take advantage of the flanking being provided by the orcale To hit Marcel's AC: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 2 = 11 bit he isn't as capable..or lucky.

Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 131d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Marcel swings at the goblin oracle once more, landing a hit but probably not confirming the critical.
Samuel Deland |
Glad to finally see the battle going in their favor, Samuel moves up between Marcèl and Calistan.
Masterwork Longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Despite his recovering confidence, Samuel swings too early as he advances.
Samuel AC increases by +1 when adjacent to two allies, as he is now. Also, we don't seem to be able to roll well in this combat at all.
Calistan the Wanderer |
Calistan heals himself with his wand!
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Samuel misses his intended target...again.
Calistan heals himself with a charge from his wand while Sam stands up from the floor.
The 2 remaining goblins seeing their oracle lying dead on the floor withdraw from the combat and flee for their lives
Out of combat
The goblins had leather armors, short bows, short swords. The oracle was carrying a chain shirt, a masterwork spear, 2 potions and 1 flask of acid as well as five green peridots in a pouch at her waist
In this room there is also a wooden chest with a crude lock (Disable Device DC is) half-buried among all the other supplies
Let me know what your plans are now
Calistan the Wanderer |
Calistan heals everyone!
CLW @ Calistan: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW @ Calistan: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

CLW @ Marcel: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW @ Samuel: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Then he ushers everyone forward! That was exciting!
Aviendha-RK |
"Damn cowards!" Aviendha yells in frustration. She cuts off their leaders head for good measure.
"Lets us proceed when everyone has healed up and we identified their gear. It might hold something useful. Does anyone need to rest to recover spells?"

Revvy Bitterleaf |
Sam determines that it's an arrow of sleep and that the potion from the chest is a potion of cure light wounds.
After everyone is healed you head down the next corridor which winds around at an angle and ends up in a man made room;
This large, L-shaped chamber is filled with knee-deep, pale purple mist. Beneath the mist is a fl oor of small, glossy black blocks, noticeably different from the flagstone elsewhere in the dungeon.
Stone archways exit to the north and the west.
And after Sam takes a look with detect magic he confirms that the mist is magical.
What do you want to do?
Aviendha-RK |
can he determine the effects? Or school
"Hmm this does not look inviting... Sam can you make more of this?"

Calistan the Wanderer |
Impatiently tapping his feet, Calistan boldly walks through the room to the other side, holding his breath.
Aviendha-RK |
"Well I guess the two other goblins ran this way and they don't seem to have died so let us go in."
Aviendha follows in after Calistan
Revvy Bitterleaf |
As Calistan and Aviendha walk boldly into the room filled with purple mists they make it to center of the room before they are confronted by a misty image drawn from their own subconscious fears (no clue what it is....so going to improvise)..the mists form into what looks like a roughly humanoid shape formed from shadow..it's incorporeal limb stretches out and it tries to touch you
DC 11 will save to disbelieve, if failed 2d6 cold damage and shaken for 1 hour (DC 11 Fort save halves damage and negates shaken effect)
Calistan the Wanderer |
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Calistan sees a frost-breathing dragon rear up in front of him, but notices that he can't feel the chill from the breath. He chuckles to himself before pushing through the illusory shadow with ease. Begone illusion!
Calistan looks around the room as he moves through it.
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 4 = 10
Calistan's porter is cowering before the dragon before being grabbed by Calistan and hurried along to the next room. Calistan opens a bottle of Elvish wine and stops for a small break to bolster his porter's courage.
Do I see anything else in the room as I traverse it?
Does Aviendha get a +4 to disbelieve because she knows that there is illusion magic and she saw me disbelieve mine?
Aviendha-RK |
As Aviendha walks through the mist she sees her father, a brutish orc warchief, in front of her.
will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
However, she knows that he could not be here for real and dismisses him.
She calls out to the others.
"The mist summons something you fear, however it is only an illusion. No need to fear it."
that should give everone a +4 ;)

Samuel Deland |
Samuel follows the others in short order, remaining vigilant of the potential deception.
Will: 1d20 + 0 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 0 + 4 = 20
As he steps through the mists the Andoran sees the form of slaves suffering and pleading for helping. Despite reaching out, the young defender is unable to help them. Guilt and fear begin to rise up through Samuels body, before he remembers that none of what he is seeing.
His resolve restored, he continues through the mist to rejoin the others.
Calistan the Wanderer |
More beautiful stones!
Calistan picks it up gleefully before moving on.
Aviendha-RK |
it does :)

Revvy Bitterleaf |
The +4 is debatable, but sure..go ahead an use it. You still need to make a will save when you are in the mist. The only thing that changed when the gem was picked up was the color change. Sam still needs to roll a save, but I'll assume everyone will move out on the other side and take it from there
A twenty-foot-tall statue of a man carrying a tome stands in a round niche at one end of this impressive chamber. The chest and head of the large statue have been badly damaged, and look like they melted and ran before congealing again, giving the statue a crude, blob-shaped face with eyes of red stone. A doorway leads to the southwest, and another to the southeast.
As you move closer to take a better look at the statue 2 creatures jump down from the ceiling;
This giant fanged cricket is caked in pungent fungal growths and topped with a mushroom-like cap
